Odd "Pages" Display

I'm seeing odd values after the "Pages:" text when viewing "My Posts". For all I know this has been true all along but I just noticed it. In any case, I think the behavior is flawed.
When I view "My Posts" there are lines near the top and bottom of the screen that say something like this:
"Viewing 201-210 of 420 -- Pages: << Previous 1 ... 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 Next >>"
Once I'm past the page showing posts 51-60, things are a bit strange. At that point the "5" has the URL of the page of posts that I'm viewing. Lower and higher numbers have the URLs of the adjacent posts, i.e. "6" takes me to the next group while "4" takes me to the previous group. No matter how how high up I go, the display shows pages 1 through 9". If this is working "as designed", the designer must have has a very odd view of what intuitive design looks like. I'd rather believe that this behavior is the result of a coding error.

Yep, mine are the same. Perhaps the Jive software can't handle numbers other than single digits for the pages?
It seems to work fine for normal message lists, just not for "My Posts".

  • Won't display odd page on right in two-up view

thanks in advance for reading this: I self publish several books of my own. Using InDesign CS3 I've exported them (for years, all the way back to Pagemaker) as a 'book' pdf and with ID's wonderful view pdf feature, I've been able to review them 'two-up' the way they would appear after printing. After CS3 for some reason, I can't get Acrobat to let me view them with the odd page, ie., the first page, starting on the right panel, the even on the left and so on.
At first I thought it was a page numbering or pagination issue from Indd, but....I've gone back to older pdf's in previous books and brought them up in Acrobat and the same thing now appears. Can't seem to find any reference to this in the online help or the local help files.
Any ideas? I'd be most appreciative....

    Using Version 8.1.2
    Goto VIEW
    Then PAGE DISPLAY
Then select SHOW COVER PAGE DURING TWO UP
Seems to work for me, took a bit of hunting to find that, despite Adobe's online help telling me that multiple page documents will always display with the odds on the right to make sense of books!

  • 2-Page display in Acrobat 9.1.2

I have a document created in ID CS4, of multiple facing pages, and exported to PDF.  But when I open it in Acrobat 9.1.2, and switch to 2-Page view, it displays with page one (a right-hand page) moved to the left of the screen, and page 2 (a left-hand page) to its right on the same screen.  From then on, all the RH pages display on the leftt in Acrobat, and the next LH pages display to their right.
Is there no way to get Acrobat to display a single RH page, and then display each 2-page spread as they actually appear in the document?

Thanks Bernd, yes that works, and your help is appreciated.
It's a bit annoying that Acrobat reverts to single-page view each time the file is closed.  Can't this setting be sticky?
Also, the option you've pointed out seems oddly worded, which I guess is why I couldn't find it in the online Help -- the first page is part of the document, so I wouldn't have thought to call it a "Cover Page".  But it only works if you select this option *after* selecting Two-page mode, so it doesn't seem very obvious to me.
But I guess not all menu phrases can seem immediately clear to everyone who reads them.  Tricky business, UIs.
    Thanks again for assisting me!

  • How do I "Print Booklet" with just odd pages and even pages for duplexing . . options disabled

I have InDesign CS5.5 on a Windows 7 64-bit machine hooked to a Xerox 7750 printer.  I have created a 8.5x11 portrait document and trying to create a booklet on 12x18 sheets.
I need to print duplex manually and so I need to print just the odd spreads and then the even spreads.
I have printed to Adobe PDF and printed from my created PDF file and have it working, but I want to know why InDesign won't let me do it.  When I click "File > Print Booklet > Print Settings" then it shows the Print Dialog box with the Pages section, which includes the Sequence that normally would allow me to do Odd Pages or Even Pages, but it is disabled.  Why?  I can define Print Presets and I can choose Odd Pages, but when I choose that in the Preset box it does not show anything, everything is still disabled.
Anybody have any idea of why it is disabled?  Is it my printer driver?

I too was very frustrated after upgrading to indesign cs5.5 and the latest LION OS on my new MAC.  I missed the odd/even page selection in the print dialog box within Indesign.  I tried about everything and found little of value in various forums.  But I did find a workable solution that makes since in terms of Apple's OS.
My objective is to "impose" my document and also end up with a file that I can just print again and again without "ripping" in the InDesign Print Booklet Dialog.
Here is the quick version of what to do.  I am not including every little step with pictures. =)  (I can if there is interest.)
    1. create your document
    2. Print Booklet
    3. At the first dialog box, just ignore the printer in print preset (you will come back to this) and go to the 2-up perfect bound option and select 16 page signatures.  This will impose 2-up on 4 physical pieces of paper printed both sides.  So 16 of your document pages printed duplex on 4 physical sheets of paper.  It would be nice to then just select the printer and scaling, etc. and the option to print even pages, flip over and then print odd pages but that ain't an option.  If you have different needs, do the math and input the correct numbers before proceeding
    4. Click on Print Settings  to pull up a second dialog box.
    5. Select for Printer PostScript File (not your printer)  Also select for PPD your printer or Adobe PDF 9 if you have that installed.  Don't obsess on this just pick your Printer for the PPD.
    6. Select 1 copy and All Pages while in the General Tab
    7. Select the Setup Tab Here is where you put in the actual physical paper size that you are going to print your document on. Don't scale to fit.  You must do this.  If you feel the need, check out all the tabs and options but for now, you are just trying to get an output file.  You probably do want to select CENTER for page position in this same setup tab.
    8. Hit OK whcih will return you to the original dialog.  Check when you return to be sure that at the top Printer is populated with PostScript File.  Click on Print and give the thing a name and a location to save at the resulting dialog.
Breathe as you are almost home.  You have sucessfully created a file that can be called up again and again without opening InDesign. (albeit, a postscript file but not a problem)
    Now,
    1. Double click on this new file (it will have a .ps extention) or just open it in your PREVIEW (apple supplied utility)   Preview is where you accomplish the even and odd page objective.
    2. Preview will show you a short progress dialog while it rips this postscript file into a PDF.
    3. Click on PRINT
    4. Select your printer, page range, select the Paper Size (again not document size  but  the size sheet that you are printing the 2-up , imposed (booklet) document on. If not in the selection dialog, then use the custom option to create it (custom paper size) and give it a name.
    5. Click on SCALE and insert 100% in place of the weird number that it will insert for you.  You will then see your document correctly displayed in the sidebar preview window.
    6.  OK, now what you have been waiting for. Click on the box that says Preview (the active window) and select Paper Handling from the drop-down and select from Pages to Print the coveted odd or even page selection.  You can also do other things that should have been back at the InDesign print dialog but are now gone.  Explore. Enjoy.
    7.  You will have to work out your own work flow about reverse or no reverse order and how to flip, etc. But you will be working with something predictable at this point.
    8.  Since this has been ripped into a PDF , you might as well Click on the PDF button and click on save as a PDF at this point to save that postscript to PDF rip.   Also print using PREVIEW for the newly created PDF file next time as you will not have to learn a bunch of new dialogs and be frustrated all over again.
I am now back in business printing the book blocks for my handbound journals.

  • How do i print a table on odd pages leaving the same space in the even page

    Hi,
I have created an RTF for Invoice Printing and the invoice will be physically printed (hard copy using printer) on both sides of the paper.
I now have a table/section to be printed only on the first page and the second page should be printed without this header (the header should be displayed as space).
How do i use even and odd page printing for this? I can send you the xml file and rtf file, could you please help me to achieve this?
    Thanks,
    Kesava

    Guessing here
In the RTF the first page has whatever you were going to put on it.
On the second page you put your invoice format/field codes etc.
I am assuming you are using a for-each at the begining of each invoice?
If the invoice is fixed length, then make the invoice two pages long before you finish the first for-each group.
    for-each
page of invoice + blank page
    page break
    end for-each
Headers and footers might get in the way.

  • Acrobat 7.0 convert printing multiple bookmarks as odd pages

    Hi all,
A common problem I've been having is being sent .pdf's with bookmarks, and only one page; the rest bookmarks. How can I print them as 'odd pages' then print as 'even pages' so I'm not wasting lots of paper. Also too time consuming to print one page at a time.
    Any help greatfully received.
    Regards
    Darren

Thanks I'm aware of that feature.
The bookmarks are there, but there aren't any pages. You have to click on the bookmark to display said page. There is a total of 30 documents (pages but we won't call them that as they are bookmarks). When you go to print you need to click on the bookmark/page you want to print, and it only recognises that page. Not the other 29 bookmarks.
My understanding/research on bookmarks indicates pages are needed. However this document is not showing that at, the bookmarks are treated as pages. As I did not create the document I wonder what the scandal is???

  • One page displays incorrectly on my Mac

Hi, I have a 6 page site hosted on Mac.com. All pages display correctly on various devices but on the Mac I used to create it, one page displays as plain text (in Safari) in Firefox it is fine. I suspect the file may be being read from a cache somewhere on my Mac but cannot find where. Have tried resetting Safari and emptying cache etc. Tried deleting the page and publishing and it doesn't appear but when I paste the page back into iweb and publish again the fault is still there. Just odd why it works on all other Macs using same OS and Safari, but not on the machine that created it. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

To answer my own question - in case it helps anyone else. Just tried duplicating the offending page and renaming and relinking and it seems to work. Not sure why exactly but it now seems OK.

  • Split PDF, name odd pages and name even pages in sequence

I need help creating a script to ask the user for a PDF file then do the following:
-Extract even pages and rename name with "_Front#" ending where "#" is a number sequence starting with 1.
→ ex: the PDF I choose when prompted is "anatomyBook". The extracted even pages would be:
         - anatomyBook_Front1,  anatomyBook_Front2, anatomyBook_Front3,...
-Extract odd pages and name them similarly except replace "Front" with "Back"
    Thanks for the help!

Ok, I have solved some issues I found with the previous script and Automator configuration.
The Filter Finder Items action apparently uses kMDItemKind to determine the file type, and if you choose a PDF file without an extension, this action will not pass the file to the Bash script. Result: 0.
The mdls command, for the same reason will always fail to get a page count when it encounters a extensionless PDF file.
Remove the entire mdls/egrep command sequence from the script.
Wrote a shell function that runs Python, imports the CoreGraphics module, and returns the page count for PDF files with/out extensions. The function takes as its argument, the input PDF filename, which it passes into Python as a command-line argument ($1). It returns a page count.
Replace entire Bash script in Automator with the following code.
    New Bash Script
    #!/bin/bash

  • [Linux 8.1.2] Two up view: Odd Pages on Left Side

    Hi,
    Since upgrading to Version 8:
In Two Up mode, the odd pages are shown on the left. This breaks facing pages, and is in conflict with the online manual at:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Reader/8.0/help.html?content=WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195 ff-7faf.html
    There it clearly states:
"Note: If a document has more than two pages, the Two-Up and Two-Up Continuous views display the first page alone on the right side of the document pane, to ensure proper display of two-page spreads."
That's what I'm used to and what makes sense, but it's exactly the other way around.
Is there any kind of configuration I can make. I searched the gui, but did not find anything specific. Maybe some hidden config file?
    bye, Michael

  • BI Publisher Desktop - RTF - Start New Group on Odd Page

    Hi All,
    Versions:
    APEX 3.1.2
    BI Publisher Desktop: 10.1.3.4
BI Publisher Server: 10.1.3.4 on LINUX
    Duplex Printing
    Problem:
I tried to get this answered on the BI Publisher forum but it was kinda quiet over there.
I need to start a sub-group on an ODD page in a printed report. BI Publisher does not support MSWord Section Breaks inside inner groups. It strips out the section break RTF code from the RTF file (\sbkodd).
    Question:
Is there a way to put the following logic (or equivalent) into BI Publisher Desktop (MS Word RTF format)?
    IF Page_number is ODD then
    ....insert page break
    END IF
    Insert page break
I am wondering if I am missing something obvious.
    Cheers,
    Patrick Cimolini

    Patrick,
This is not a great way to accomplish this but it might work:
    1. in addition to your data set send an item which contains the COUNT of the record set.
    2. find out how many records are displayed per page.
    3. add some sort of sequence to your rowset such as ROWNUM and check to see if FLOOR(ROWNUM/rows_per_page) +1
    FLOOR(ROWNUM/rows_per_page) + DECODE(mod(ROWNUM,rows_per_page),0,0,1) is odd.
    edit
that math is off, the last record will get pushed to the next page ill correct it...

    Hi mohana,
    For script or smartform?
    In case smartform
Create  pages as per your requirement.
In the global defintion --> initialization tab -->
    if w_page = 1.
    control_parameters-startpage = '%PAGE1'.
    else.
    control_parameters-startpage = '%PAGE2'.

    hi,
    about book:
how can I print only pages that I want to?
Like selected pages, odds pages or only that I want?
How can I print front-back sheet?
    Thank you

I don't think it's possible to set the page range of a Book.printPreferences
Theoretically it ought to be possible. Can't test for myself now; what does happen when you set the pageRange to overlapping sub-files?
I've just tried it with CS3. It might have been implemented in later versions.
In the print Book dialogue the page range field is disabled. You cannot enter anything there.
If you try to do it with a script it says that printPreferences is read only.

  • How can I print an odd page in a pdf with 2 page each pdf page?

I hope tou can help me. We´ve created a pdf from a book.
In each page of the pdf we´ve put two pages of the book.
    Our problem is:
if  I want to print or search a even page. I´ve just go to the search box and write the number of the page I want to go. And the pdf take me to correct number in the book. I Attached a screenshot (screenshot 1). So I look for the page number 6 and I go to the page 6 in the book (that it´s 4 of 22 in the pdf document)
But  if I try to search or print an odd page, the problem is that the pdf doesn´t take me to the correct page in the book it takes me to number in pdf document. I attached an screenshot (screenshot 2) So If I look for the page 9 it tooks me to the page 16 of the book (that is 9 of 22 in the pdf document)
I´d like that if i try to search or print any page number (even or odd) . If I use the white box I´ll be able to finde the correct page
    Thank you very much

The parent subform must be set to Flowed. Make sure each page (subform) is set to Pagination>Following Previous.

  • How to populate a table in JDeveloper 9i on page display?

Can anybody help me out regarding this issue.
The issue is i want to populate a table on displaying a page in OAF using JDeveloper.
The methods which i know are populating on clicking button, etc.
But how to populate on first time page display.

It would be easier to answer in case you have provided more details of what you are doing currently.
Anyway, assuming that you are trying to show data from some DB table on an OA page and you have the mapping done on your OA table columns, all you need is call executeQuery on the VO attached to the table in the processRequest of the page controller.
