Odd Save Warning in Keynote

I clicked to save a Keynote file tonight (v. 5.04) and I received a program warning message I've never seen in a year of working with Keynote '09--basically, "This file was changed by a different program. If you save this file in Keynote, you will not be able to keep those changes." I have no idea what that other program would be. I had been working on the same Keynote presentation just a couple of hours earlier at work, but on the same computer. I nevertheless thought perhaps it might be my iDisk sync causing a disconnect of some sort, because I run my all of my docs right out of my local iDisk folder. But when I tried syncing and re-syncing and reviewing the Keynote file on my iPhone, I still could not replicate the warning message.
What gives? The Keynote presentation seems fine, but I would like to know why Keynote thinks a different program has accessed and changed it.

I'm disappointed not to see any response here... I'm getting the same error message you did after migrating to a new Macbook Air 11". NEVER have seen this one since starting with Keynote v1.0.

The Keynote 6.1 is somewhat disappointing with some good stuff. Anyways, in addition to the Duplicate, you can actually use the Save As function... it is hidden tho..
Go to Help, and do a spotlight search for "Save As", the long-missing "Save As..." menu item will be ranked at the top,... you will notice that through this way, the Save As does show under FIle and you can use it; HOWEVER, after you exit the spotlight.. it is gone and replaced with "Duplicate". To me, this is worse than Windows.
I am not sure if it is a bug or somewhat a setting issue... but Steve, please come back to us...
Good luck everyone.. I have to say, I elected not to go back to Powerpoint because of the stupid ribbon thing... but I am not sure if I will go somewhere else because of the degarded iWorks.
By the way, to answer for another thread about save a copy to icloud.. using the Save As function.. you can select iCloud from the directory drop-down list. Cheers.

Where is "save as" in Keynote File dropdown

Where I expected to find "save as" under the file dropdown list, I only see "save version" which I can't figure out (in a terrible time pinch), - Just upgraded to a new Mac mini running Lion and ran into this problem when working with a file I had stored in Dropbox. I am trying to rename a now edited and final presentation and save it to a different location - help, quick Can anyone save my Christmas?

I wish to add that as you didn't take time to learn the Lion behavior, you will get the recent changes in your original document because Keynote (I wonder why you ask about Keynote in the Pages forum) AutoSaved your changes.

How do you "save as" in Keynote '09

In Keynote '09 I can "save version" but only to the already saved to name. There's no way to rename the file it seems. ANyone know?

Click on the file name in the window header and select "Duplicate". Then you can save the duplicate file with another name.
(I know this works under Lion with the latest version of Keynote.)

Save Warning process

I wanted to give the users a warning message if they tried to exit a page without saving. I had implemented the 'WarnSave' procedure I saw in the forum threads. It works great except for date fields. If the user hits the 'Calendar' image that show next to a date, the warning alert pops up. Any suggestions?

Great, let me know when it's up. Also, I'll need some credentials. As for jQuery, I too have heard that it will be included with a future release. I don't want to speculate, however, as to when. But adding jQuery is such an easy thing to do I wouldn't wait to make this change. In fact, I was planning to look at your example and make a newer version with jQuery code. The reason being that there are many different item types in an ApEx application and I don't know if that code is the best way to go. It should be fun to rewrite in jQuery.

How to create Forest plots (odds ration plots) in Keynote '09?

Hello,
I am trying to convert to Keynote from PowerPoint and I was wondering how to create odds ratio plots without drawing them out. These are plots of an odds ratio and its 95% confidence interval.
In PowerPoint, one creates a line chart, removes the lines leaving the data points, and then adds high-low bars for each data point. Easy.
How do I do this in iWork/Keynote?

A line chart is a "Category" chart.
One axis, usually the 'x' axis, is a Category axis. The category axis does not show numerical values (even if the values are numbers, they are simply text that names each category). Categories are evenly spaced along this axis. Labels for the categories must be placed into a Header Column.
Values shown on the Value axis (usually the 'y' axis) are numerical.
Here are two examples of the same data, presented first as a scatter chart with the data points connected by line segnments, then as a line graph.
Note the differences in organization of the table, and the differences in spacing along the x axis.
Scatter chart:
All data in 'body' cells. Series labels in Header row. Note the shape of the line for Data series B (Green) and C (Yellow).
Line Chart:
Category labels in a Header column (Column A), Data series labels in a Header Row (Row 1). The 'numbers ' in column A are seen as text, and a regularly spaced along the x axis.
Data series in regular cells (B2:D8) Only the data cells are selected when making the chart.
Note the shapes of the lines for data series B (Green) and C (Yellow).
For your setup, you would need to place the 'x' values into a Header column. The Y values in columns Y, Z and AA could stay in those columns.
You would select only columns Y, Z and AA, then make the Line chart, as I've done in the example below after inserting some new columns to the left of that data.

Odd save to PDFx1a issue

MacPro OS 10.5.8 / AI 15.0.1
I have a file set up.
Simple one color file
two artboards with 18pt bleeds.
I can Save As with no problem.
I choose Save As PDF...
Select PDFX1a from the Job Options...
file saves no issue.
I choose Save As PDF...
Select PDFX1a from the Job Options
choose Trim and Registration under Marks and Bleeds
Error: An Unknown Error Has Occured
I've tried:
Trashing Preferences - no help
Copy/Paste to new file - no help
Only ticking Trim - no help
Only ticking Registration - no help
In order to get around this I must draw in marks and create a second, larger, artboard to encompass my marks, then the PDFx1a saves just fine.
Anyone with a clue?

You mean the page information? No.
As I posted.. PDFx1a job options then tick Trims and Registration for Marks and Bleeds, that's all.

Cannot save pages/numbers/keynote files to server

Since I started using OS Mavericks I have been unable to save documents to our PC Server Win 2008 R2. It always worked with the other Mac OS systems. Even installing the lastest update today did not help.

I just tried this with a Pages document (Pages 5.0), sending with Mail.app (7.0), and Mavericks, with my me.com account, to my verizon.net account, and it worked fine.
Maybe the problem is with the SMTP server you are using, or with your ISP.
I'd try a different SMTP server, and if that doesn't work, maybe call the tech support at your ISP.

How can I save a Keynote 6.5 file to be opened in Keynote 6.2.

With the upgrade to Yosemite, Keynote was upgraded to 6.5. I have recently found out that you can not open Keynote 6.5 files in Keynote (6.2) for Mavericks. There is an option to save out to Keynote 09 but that really downgrades the deck messing up master slides at times as well. Anyone know how to Save out a 6.5 to 6.0+?

I am using Keynote 9 in OS X version 10.8.4. I would like to be able to use a "save as" function to specify where my file is to be placed without have to do a find and move. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Keynote "Save As" feature?

In creating multiple versions of the same presentation (e.g., adding a couple of slides, changing the title slide, minor revisions, etc.), I find that I have to remember to "duplicate" the original and then go to the folder to change the name. I don't remember having to do this with earlier Keynote versions. What am I missing?

Keynote will not save presentations?

I recently updated Keynote and my OS to Mavericks. I am now unable to save my Keynote presentations. I receive various errors when I try to do so. If I try to save as a Keynote file it tells me that it cannot autosave. If I try to export the file as a powerpoint for my school it tells me that the file type is invalid. Please help! I need to use this program for my school work and luckily I was able to find a way to get the slides to someone for my last class. Has anyone found a way to fix this? Thank you so much in advance!!!

There are two options, try option 1 first if that does not work use option 2:
1 - a custom repair for Keynote 6.1
Try this repair for iWork applications, its sorted out many similar problems in the past
ensure you complete all the tasks and in the order shown:
1 delete all the iWork applications if you have them, not just Keynote by using Appcleaner from Mac Update to      do this, its freeware
2 restart the Mac;   Apple menu > restart
3 immediately after the start chime, press the shift key until you see the Apple symbol.
         let it fully boot up, it will take longer as the OS is repairing the drive
4 when fully booted, go to Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility; click on the boot drive then First Aid tab and      click repair disc permissions
5 when complete, restart the Mac normally
6 install Keynote from the Mac App Store

Choose Apple menu > Restart. Once your Mac restarts (and the gray screen appears), hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys.
If you’re not connected to the Internet, choose a network from the Wi-Fi menu (in the top-right corner of the screen).
Select Disk Utility, then click Continue.
Select your startup disk on the left, then click the Erase tab.
Choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) from the Format menu, enter a name, then click Erase.
After the disk is erased, choose Disk Utility > Quit Disk Utility.
Select Reinstall OS X, click Continue, then follow the onscreen instructions.

Keynote hides .key file extension on save - feature or bug?

I haven't been able to track anything down about this in the forum...
I've created a new file in Keynote '09, and saved it with the standard .key extension. When I open the file, edit it, and "save" it, Keynote hides the extension. If I go to the file in the Finder, select it and show info, and un-check "hide extension", the .key reappears as expected. But the next time I save it in Keynote, Keynote hides the extension again.
I know that the new file format is really a .zip file, so that's why I'm wondering if this is supposed to be a feature even though it seems like a bug.
Anyone have any insight on this?

Why didn't iCloud Keynote save my document?

I was running iCloud Keynote in Chrome and saw that Chrome was ready with updates so I relaunched Chrome but when I came back to my iCloud Keynote edit there were only 5 pages instead of 10. How do I manually save an iCloud Keynote document if autosave isn't going to work in these situations?
