Now for the other problem i think my psu is hissing its possibly one of the fans in there but when it starts to hiss after about 30 secs my pc just shuts down is that a sign of anything? given its a horrible psu it should work im gonna try blowing air into it maybe something is stuck in there and makin it short out iono i just kno too much crap is happenin to my pc im about to try n sell it off as scrap but i dont want to please help if u can. thanks.

Hi
These are all warning signs ( which you don't always get) of a PSU about to blow, change the PSU quick. If it blows, you may lose your whole comp, very expensive. And if HDDs get spiked to, then your data as well.
An enermax 465 single rail, 33 amps on the +12v, or an Aspire 500 is what you need.- fast.
Take care

  • Very odd things happening to my iPod...

Well, I'm not going to lie, this started off with me dropping my iPod onto a hardwood floor. Since it's relevant, the song playing at the time was "Deliverance" by Opeth. About 15 minutes later, I turned on my iPod and played the same song. It went to the play screen, stood at 0:00 for about 10 seconds, then returned to the menu. I figured well, I can listen to it later, so I selected another song from the same artist. The exact same thing happened. I figured maybe the fall had injured this artist's files in some way, so I played a different song by a different artist. It stood at 0:00 for about a second, then started playing, as usual. When the song was finished, I played a different song by the new artist and the same thing happened to this song as did what happened to the Opeth songs. I figured I'd give the thing a little rest, so I went to bed (this was last night) and woke up again this morning, eager to see if it was working. I picked it up, selected a song, and it played perfectly. Everything seemed to be in order. Unfortunately, about an hour ago, I decided to put some new songs in, so I plugged my iPod into the computer. Nothing happened. The computer played the characteristic noise, and my ipod is saying it's being charged and "Do not disconnect", but the computer is saying it doesn't exist. No tab under "Purchased Music", no device registered in My Computer, nothing. I tried a few help topics on this website that seemed relevant, but nothing seemed to be able to pinpoint exactly what I had wrong. I figured it might be a little messed up on my current computer, so I moved it to my other computer, exactly the same except for it is another system. Same results. I know it's from the iPod itself then.
I just "Restored iPod to factory condition" (Apparently my computer could recognize it was plugged in for that). I'm having the same effect. Is there something I can do to fix my iPod, or do I need to buy a new one?

If you've completely restored and resynced your iPod (and it did indeed resync all the music properly) but still won't play right then it is indeed in need of repair or replacement.
Dropping an iPod isn't a Good Idea but it does happen. And things do break.

  • Odd thing happening to my Open dialog box in Photoshop

I use Photoshop under Mac OS 10.6.8, and every time I bring up the Open dialog box, the file window (which is always set to List View) has the Name column all scrunched up to the point where all the filenames are mostly hidden. I have to expand the column every time to see what I'm doing. Photoshop is supposed to remember your window settings, but it doesn't for me. The next time I bring up the Open dialog box, the Name column is all scrunched up again. It only does this with the Open box; not the Save box. And it only happens with Photoshop, and only one this one computer. I'm not sure if this is a problem with Photoshop, or the OS, or some third party thing. Anyone have any ideas?

It has everything to do with that thick black arrow on which you wrote RRRGH!

  • My iPad is connected to wifi, but every several minutes later,I just can not connect to webpage, then I have to shut off iPad and turn it on again, and several minutes later the same thing happens again, how can I deal with this?

Why I can not go to webpage even wifi is on?it happens every 6 minutes.......

Is it the same webpage everytime?  And is it exactly 6 minutes?
If you have control over the modem and wifi router, i.e. your personal router in your home, I would powercycle your modem and router and see what happens.
    1.  unplug the wifi router's power cord
    2. unplug the modem's power cord
    3. wait 10 - 15 seconds (I usually wait about a minute)
    4. plug the modem back in and wait for it to stabilize
    5. plug the router back in and wait for it to stabilize
    6. try to to to the web page again.
And while I am waiting for my modem to start back up and get itself connected to the internet I usually restart my iPad/iPhone.  Hold the Home button and the Power button down at the same time, wait for the apple logo to appear and then wait for the device to to a restart.  Very much like rebooting your PC.

  • Odd thing happened after reinstalling Office 2013

Hi I have a WD MyCloud cabled direct to my router which I access from desktop and laptop. Nothing fancy about set up and only me with access rights. I recently had to reinstall Office 2013 following an upgrade to my hard drive to a SSD.  Whenever I go to MyCloud via my desktop and double click on any of my MS Office items (word, excel, ppt does it with all) MS opens up with the template page not my document. When I use MS to browse to the document to open  - it does it again just opens up to MS template page. I back up MyCloud to a hard drive on my desktop. I take any of the exact same documents and double click on those sat on the hard drive they open directly into my document. Sorry thats a cack handing explanation but why is this happening ?? Many thanksJon

Thanks for reply. Yes - I have deleted and remapped a few times after I've tweaked a setting. Reboot a few times in between too. When I view my clopud via the z: mapped drive I can see and access everything, open pdf's, image files etc. No problems at all. Apart from MS 2013 docs/xls/ppt. Even when I right click a word doc and open in wordpad it works and I can see my document. But double click to open in Word and it seems to flash up the word opening page twice then defaults to template. No amount of directions will it open the document properly. Exactly same document sat on my c drive or e drive. Opens straight away no fuss. The fault seems very much focussed on how MS Office reads security settings and for some reason no longer likes mycloud via the mapped drive. Albeit exactly the same docs accessed via the explorer>network> mycloud name open fine !>? Tried amending MS trust centre but it throws up something unhelpful like I haven't got security rights to do it or something. At this rate I'll delete MS office and just go with Google docs (and ppt and xls) !

  • Hello I have a iPhone 5S all of a sudden my music that I have purchased only plays on 1 speaker.  I thought it was a bad audio cable so I brought it back to the store.  Only to have the same thing happen again. What is going on?

I have a iPhone 5s all of a sudden my music on my iPhone would only ply oit of one speaker in the car.  I thought it was the Audio Cable went and brought another Audio Cable and the same thing again.  I than plugged my son phone which is a NOTE 3 into the Audio Cable and it started playing fine.  I purchase all of my music from the Apple Store and one of the reasons is because I enjoy listening to my phone with my playlist inside my car.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Apple needs to fix this ASAP or refund me my money back for all the songs I purchased.

If you connect headphones to your 5s do you also hear music on from one side?
If yes get a light and inspect the headphone jack and clean out any dirt/debris/ etc. you find in there.
If that does not fix it you will need to get your iPhone replaceed under your warranty.

  • My firefox starts and works normally for a while then all of a sudden it switches to safe mode. I restart the computer and the same thing happens again.

When I restart the computer as before it works normally for a few minutes then all of a sudden it's in safe mode again. It just started doing this a few days ago, I never had a problem before and it's really annoying as I end up having to restart my computer every few minutes.

Try to update firefox to the latest 12.0 and check it again. If you have the problem again try to a new profile see: [http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles Managing profiles] , see also: [http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Profiles Profiles] .
    thank you

  • Odd thing happening to my transitions

    Hello,
Scenario: 15 minute, 720p, 59.94 program using only Premiere CS6. Two runs of the same program are placed back-to-back on timeline and burned to standard def DVD via Dynamic Link to Encore (account can only purchase 30 minute blocks of time thus the need to play same program twice).  Burned to SD DVD for delivery to local cable broadcaster. Transitions used are Premiere's Cross Dissolve.
After burning to DVD the 30 frame transitions on the first instance of program play fine. On the second instance of program the transitions are not as smooth.
Problem not detectable when playing from timeline in program monitor or on external Sony pro production monitor.
I've never seen anything like this but then I've done a program like this where it is played twice, in succession.
I deleted the render files and re-rendered and re-burned. No luck.
    Thanks for any insights.
    wsmith

Hi DMH79, Thanks for your response and insight on this.
Yeah, transitions on that video look like mine. To be honest, I thought there was something wrong when playing pack from my timeline but it didn't so bad that it was killer and the account was not complaining when I gave them drafts of the program encoded to MP4 files at the project's full 1280x720p rez. But output to DVD made them considerably more apparent. When the account sees that they will undoubtedly complain.
I've been primarily involved with location audio production over the past couple of years and I guess I forgot what smooth cross-dissolves are supposed to look like. (This is the first video production project I've worked on in CS6... So the problem is indeed apparent on the timeline and significantly worse on DVD output.
After looking at this thread, I have decided to do a test by changing from GPU Acceleration to software only and thus the timeline is now being re-rendered accordingly.
I'll let post the results here soon, after the DVD burn.
I wonder if we could speak on the phone briefly re an Adobe matter unrelated to this and thus not really appropriate for this thread BUT definitely a matter of concern which I think many users are not even aware of. I'd like to get some private opinions before posting in these forums and how to approach that.
    Thanks!

  • Coupla odd things happening

    Hi all,
So lately my iBook G4 is acting strange. The light on the power cord is going orange even though it's plugged in and should be holding a full charge. I tried resetting the PMU but as soon as I hold down the four buttons, the computer shuts down.
Then when I start it back up, my desktop icons are rearranged. The HD icon is in the middle of the desktop (normally it's in the upper right) and one of the other icons (Firefox alias) is along side it (normally it's up with the other aliases.
Maybe it's nothing, but I thought I'd post and see if anyone had any ideas.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The PMU should be reset with the computer off. The following is from an Apple KB article.
    1. If the computer is on, turn it off.
    2. Reset the power manager by simultaneously pressing and then releasing Shift-Control-Option-Power on the keyboard. Do not press the fn (Function) key while using this combination of keystrokes.
    3. Wait 5 seconds.
    4. Press the Power button to restart the iBook computer.
If the battery is two years old or more, it's probably time for a new one.

  • Odd things happening since upgrading to Yosemite

I have an iMac - 24" screen from Feb. 2008 - 4 GB ram, have upgraded to Yosemite (10.10.2) and have the latest iOS 8.1.3 on my iPhone 5, which I use as a tether to the internet.
A few days ago, when booting up, my normal startup screen appears, but then it slides over to the Dashboard briefly, then slides back to the normal screen, where the Maps icon has appeared in the dock and is jumping up and down.  I don't use Maps at all (have never used it) , and have tried various ways of getting rid of it at startup, including changing various settings on my iPhone.
In addition, when typing messages like this one or in Mail, and while using Pages, when I try to highlight a phrase to erase it, a popup menu appears when I am using the Mouse or trackpad, and this popup menu will not disappear easily.  It sometimes takes four or five clicks to get it to disappear, and it is a real nuisance.
As I have noticed others with similar problems since upgrading to Yosemite, I thought that putting this question under the Using Yosemite area of the postings would be the best.

It's likely that one of your login items is causing the problem. Select the Login Items tab in the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences. Delete any items that you don't recognize. If you're not sure which ones to delete, double-click each to test it.

  • Odd things happening to screen.

not sure where this is supposed to go, so i'll try it here. if this is not the right part, let me know.
my 20 month old son likes to bash on my macbook pro keyboard (much to my chagrin). and somehow he's turned on some options that i don't like. i can't describe them very well, but i'll post some pictures.
this one shows a black box around my active window pane. the black box goes wherever the "active" button or window is supposed to be. not sure how to turn that off.
this one shows two "private browsing" options. not sure what that means:
    any suggestions?
i've already tried restarting both safari and my computer. not sure how to fix it. to further help:

    Great news!

  • Weird thing happens on login diff to previous post

I get to discussions page, as guest user. so login as normal, no problems but when I have done so I still get the login page presented to me except that in the side panel I get Welcome Shirley Drabble1 but I have to go to the discussions 'thread' at the top of page if I want to find the forums list. [in small type where we normally get informed as to which forum we are in, ] So I click on that and get to the front page with all the topics listed.
I just wondered why it isn't working as it used to!
    TIA
    Shirley

OK I will try to explain again.
Straight from my browser not from an email link or anything else. Not having used Apple discussions since opening my Browser for the first time that session.
I go to the Apple discussions page. I have a link in my Firefox bookmarks in my Browser bar [just above the tabs]
    I get the login page
    I am not logged in.
I am not in any forums.
    I log in
the login shows on the right hand column.
    BUT
I am on the login page again.
to get to the list of discussions I have to click on the top of the page where I see Apple.com>support> discussions
I click on discussions to get the page of listings.
I choose iPhoto or Mail or OSX 10.4 or whichever I want to use.
    Is that normal?
That is about the clearest I can be. I just don't remember being taken back to the login page after logging in before this week.
    I may be wrong!!
It is a while since I needed to use Apple support
Though at the moment I am getting quite a few odd things happening.:-(
