  • Problem getting MySQL driver loaded in ODI Studio (ODI 11g)

    Hello -
I am trying to create a new data server in the physical architecture under the MySQL technology. Since there is no MySQL JDBC driver included as there was in ODI 10g, I looked into the documentation to find a similar drivers directory that I had used in ODI 10g for loading other JDBC drivers. I would like to be able to select the MySQL Connector/J driver from the drop-down list of usable drivers in the Driver dialog window. I found this link, that explains how to install drivers:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14571_01/core.1111/e16453/install.htm#CHDBIFAJ
I followed the documents instructions, added the file "mysql-connector-java-5.1.13-bin.jar" to my directory "C:\Documents and Settings\<my username>\Application Data\odi\oracledi\userlib" and restarted ODI Studio. I still cannot get the app to recognize the new driver to use, am I missing a step or is there a known issue with this method? More importantly has anyone been able to get this to register with the Driver dialog box successfully?
With ODI Studio open, I attempted to delete the mysql jar file from my userlib directory and there was an error that said the file was in use... so I assume that ODI Studio is using the file but not registering it within the Driver selection dialog.

I think we found our own answer... apparently the ODI Studio interface does not dynamically load that drop-down list from registered drivers in the classpath. We can still use the driver name by manually typing it into the "JDBC Driver:" text box.

  • Installing Oracle Data Integratior Planning Adapter Assistance

Does any know how to install the Planning Adapter for ODI? I cannot find any documentation that actually explains how to do the install. The only documentation I can find on the Hyperion site is a README file. The ODI installation and user guide do not adress specifically how to install an individual adapter. Maybe I'm missing something.

    Hi,
What version of ODI have you installed, version 10.1.3.5 comes installed with all the planning required modules.
    Cheers

  • PDF for Repository tables

    Hi
Do we have any metadata (PDF), for the repository tables to know how they are related.
    Something like datamodel
    ---Naveen

    Naveen,
You can find the PDF documentation in an article on MyOracleSupport, look for 'ODI 10.1.3 Work Repository Documentation' (ID 579751.1).

  • ODI Documentation

    Hi.
Any suggestion on how to write documentation on the ODI interfaces and packages? is there any feature with in ODI that generates any documentation templates.
    Regards

    Hi there,
There are "print" options available in the ODI client tools. In Designer you can right-click on a project or model object and it will generate a PDF for you automatically. In Topology Manager you can print off the physical architecture, logical architecture, or contexts through the File | Print menu, which will also generate a PDF for you.
    Thanks,

  • Plz point me on ODI documentation regarding production implementation ?

    Hi
First of all,i am very thankful to u for your kind reply.
i also need ODI Development Documentation for understanding the migration mechanism from Development to production Implementation.
    Hope for your reply.
    With Warm Regards,

    Hi ,
Export existing master- and work-repository in a dump-file using Oracle db export feature
Import the master- and work-repository into your new schema
Create a new connection to the imported master-repository when you connect to the Topology Manager in ODI
Create a new connection to the imported work-repository when you connect to the Designer manager in ODI
please see the below thread also.

I think the same process we will follow during the migration.
Hope it will helpful for you.

  • Documentation on client switches from Informatica to ODI?

    Hi,
Any documentation out there that describes the process of how to upgrade from an existing Informatica ETL to ODI ETL in BI Apps? (A client already has BI apps implemented and wants to switch from informatica to ODI.)
    Thanks

Right now, there is only one BI Apps version which utilizes ODI: 7.9.5.2.
This version is constrained to Oracle EBS sources and contains none of the Siebel mappings for example. There isn't anything official yet (path, process, documentation, tools, etc...) for moving from Informatica to ODI.
    Cheers,
    C.

  • Demystify ODI Security -- Documentation is very weak on this topic.

I see 3,000 hits to one thread on ODI Security but I haven't gotten that "Ah-ha!" moment where I now understand ODI security. The SNPS_USERS.PDF (ODI User's Guide) is very light on the security section.
I'm trying to do something I hope is very simple: Create a new user that can execute the scenarios I choose and only for certain contexts. I've been able to create a new user. I've also been able to apply a profile to the new user. But when I try to grant specific SCENARIOS I get this error:
*"This user already have generic privilege on this object type. You do not need to set instance privileges."*
Does anyone have any good examples on how to setup ODI security?

    Chris,
I agree that ODI security is poorly documented and seems more like witchcraft.
Having said that, see this Re: Security
This may give you insight into how Generic and Non Generic privileges work
    Create a brand new user.
For your case, do the following:
    1. Create a duplicate of CONNECT profile and name it CONNECT_WITHOUT_CONTEXT.
    2. Expand it and goto Context-> Dbl-click View.
    3. Uncheck the "Generic Privilege" checkbox.
    4. Grant CONNECT_WITHOUT_CONTEXT to the user.
    5. Drag-drop the Contexts that you want the user to access from Topology Manager onto the user.
Now user will only be able to see the contexts that you explicitly grant him.
    6. Also, for your case use NG Designer instead of regular Designer profile.
    7. The Execute Method in the Scenario object underneath this profile has been unchecked for "Generic Privilege"
    8. Login to Operator and drag-drop the scenarios on the user.

  • ODI Training documentation

    Hi,
I am looking for ODI training slides/pdf/document/step by step guide etc. for beginners. I need it to conduct in-house training. Let me know if anyone have them or aware of any such material.
Note: Please note I am aware of Oracle user Guide or OBE.
    Thanks & Regards
    Dinesh

Thats pretty much your freely available resources, plus the many websites out there with ODI examples/content. Anything else would be course material which you would have to pay for.

  • Hi, i want to implement a function in ODI

hi, i am new to odi.
i have created a project in odi which was very simple and only transfers data from one table to another.
but now i want to implement a function in odi. i have the code for that function which is written in pl/sql.
my function accepts some values that are used ahead in the function. now i dont know how to pass the values
so can anyone plz tell me that how to pass values.
    regards,
    prateek.
    Edited by: user11116379 on May 21, 2009 1:37 AM

If you want to call a PL/SQL function, you may want to do this in an ODI procedure. Take a look at the documentation which describes how to call a stored procedure, which is I think going to provide you the ability to execute your function.
Functions can be called as a part of a mapping in an interface in ODI, just as you would normally use it as part of a select or insert statement.
If you want to pass parameters into the execution of a task, you should use ODI's variables. Variables may be passed into the execution of a task, and the values from those variables can be used as a part of a mapping, resource name, filter etc.

  • How to View the Scheduler in ODI Console

    Hi
In ODI Studio, we may Schedule a Scenario and also, we may view all Schedules process from the Agents (View Schedule option).
My colleagues are going to use ODI Console, but we cannot find out HOW to View the Schedule in ODI Console.
In Oracle documentation about FDMEE, we can read the following: If you want to cancel a specific instance of a schedule, use the ODI Studio or ODI Console... see the PDF document in attachment.
    Regards
    Claude

To display the schedule for one agent:
In Topology Navigator expand the Agents node in the Physical Architecture accordion.
Select the Physical Agent you want to update the schedule.
    Right-click and select View Schedule.
The Schedule Editor appears, displaying the schedule for this agent.

  • Error when exporting to flat file in ODI 11g

This works ok in ODI 10g. I'm using IKM SQL to File Append on Windows Server 2008 R2
Getting the following error when exporting to a flat file in ODI 11g: ODI-40406: Bytes are too big for array
I've seen a couple of threads like this on the forum, but I've never seen an answer to the problem.

Problem is with the difference in behaviour for the IKM SQL to File Append KM between 10g and 11g.
Our 10g target file datastore had a mixture of fixed string and numeric columns. Mapping from the source to target was simple one to one column mapping. It generated the desired fixed format flat file; numerics were right adjusted with embedded decimal point and leading spaces. Each numeric column in the generated flat file occupied the exact space allocated to it in the layout. This gave the desired results, even though documentation for the 10g IKM states that all columns in the target must be string.
When we converted to 11g and tried to run this interface, it generated an error on the "numeric" columns because it was wrapping them in quotation marks. The result column was being treated as string, and it was larger than the defined target once it acquired those quotation marks.
In order to get 11g to work, I had to change all the numeric columns in the target data store to fixedstring 30. I then had to change the mapping for these numeric columns to convert them to right adjusted character strings (i.e. RIGHT(SPACE(30) + RTRIM(MyNumericColumn),30).
    Now it works.
