ODI 10g to 11g repository upgrade: problem while reusing schema

Hi,
I have successfully upgraded 10g repository to 11g using UA.  To incorporate some changes in the 10g repository, we need to drop the existing 11g repository and re-upgrade the original 10g repository.
I have truncated  the upgraded 11g schemas(master and work repo) in the database and copied the 10g contents into the empty schemas.
But while trying to upgrade the schemas using UA, the UA is showing that the ODI schema is already upgraded!!
It seems the UA is looking into some log of previous upgrade.
Is there any way to identify / modify the previous upgrade logs so that I can use the same schema details in UA and upgrade again.
Regards,
Saby

Hi Saby,
I think you can delete such records from SCHEMA_VERSION_REGISTRY table.
You will find this table under SYSTEM account in your 11g database.
  Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Santy.

I upgraded a ORACLE 8.1.6.3.0 database to 8.1.7.2.0 and JVM but 9 classes remained invalid, removing and reinstalling jvm I lost all Portal30 JAVA stuffs. Who has found a clue to make it correct.

    Igor,
Since you've encountered undocumented errors, your repository upgrade has failed. You'll want to leave the repository as is for troublshooting, if at all possible, and log a TAR with support if you haven't already. They'll ask you to upload your upgrade log file and your upgrade tmp directory.

  • Issue while upgrading ODI 10g to 11g

    Hello Gurus,
I am upgrading repositories of ODI 10.1.3.5 to ODI 11.1.1.6 using Upgrade Assistant utility.
We have cloned/replicated the database repositories for ODI Master & Work.
After giving all details it checks for schema version registry, ODI version & succeeds.
but when I see the Target database details, the information like schema name, connection string about Work Repository is pointing to Production i.e. ODI 10.1.3.5 actual repository.
whereas it should show target details for replicated database.
What could be done to make it point to replicated?
    Please help.
    Thanks,

  • Solaris 11.1 - 11.2 (SRU) local repository upgrade problem

    Hello,
We have had several attempts at upgrading a previously working local IPS repository.  The repository started as an 11.1 repository, then was upgraded with SRUs to 11.1.13.  At this stage the repo server itself and all other machines were able to ‘pkg update’ successfully.
However we now want to pick up 11.2.
We tried two ways of doing this:
Upgrade existing 11.1.13 repo to 11.2 release then upgrade again to 11.2.2.8.0 SRU.
Start with a clean 11.2 release repo then apply 11.2.2.8.0 SRU.
In both cases, the repo server and all other machines do not correctly ‘pkg update’, they abort early with the following message:
http protocol error: code: 404 reason: Not Found
    URL: 'http://repo-test/s11_2_sru/repo/solaris/manifest/0/install%[email protected]%2C5.11-0.175.2.0.0.42.2%3A20140624T184445Z' (happened 4 times)
It looks like the catalog and filesystem contain the actual packages:
    pkgadm@repo-test:/repo/repo$ pkgrepo -s /repo/repo list archive
    PUBLISHER NAME                                          O VERSION
    solaris install/archive 0.5.11,5.11-0.175.2.0.0.42.2:20140624T184445Z
    pkgadm@repo-test:/repo/repo$ pkgrepo -s /repo/repo list entire
    PUBLISHER NAME                                          O VERSION
    solaris   entire 0.5.11,5.11-0.175.2.2.0.8.0:20140926T190209Z
    solaris   entire 0.5.11,5.11-0.175.2.0.0.42.0:20140624T193832Z
However pkg.depotd doesn't seem to be able to extract the manifests on demand, despite multiple attempts at:
    pkgrepo rebuild
    pkgrepo refresh
    svcadm refresh pkg/server
    svcadm restart pkg/server
    svcadm refresh apache22
    svcadm restart apache22
    reboot
    and so on.
Browsing the repo via the web does indicate *some* manifests are available, just not all of them.

    Hi Erik,
Thanks for your update. We've now managed to resolved this. It turned out to be apache getting confused by the '/' in the path:
    [Fri Oct 17 14:32:53 2014] [info] [client 192.168.30.130] found %2f (encoded '/') in URI (decoded='/s11_2/solaris/manifest/0/install/[email protected],5.11-0.175.2.0.0.42.2:20140624T184445Z'), returning 404
We've now resolved this by turning on the AllowEncodedSlashes option for apache:
    1. add "AllowEncodedSlashes On" at the end of /etc/apache2/2.2/httpd.conf
    2. sudo svcadm refresh svc:/network/http:apache22
    3. sudo svcadm restart svc:/network/http:apache22
'pkg update' on client now works successfully.
We have asked Oracle to augment their online instruction with this information.
    Thanks for trying to help.

  • Check list for upgrading from 10g to 11g when there is a schema replication

    Hi
We are looking to upgrade one of our production database from 10g to 11g
Currently this database has one schema that is replicated to 2 other databases using Oracle streams.
The replication is excluing DDLs and excluding several other application tables.
What should I do pre and post the upgrade ?
should we remove the stream configuration all together and rebuild it after the upgrade ?
I was hoping that we can first upgrade the two target databases to 11g and then the source database, without impacting our streams configuration at all
    Is that possible ?
Is there any documentation on the subject ?
    thanks in advance
    Orna

Pl post the OS versions of the source and target servers, along with exact (4-digit) versions of "10g" and "11g". I do not have any experience with streams, but the 11gR2 Upgrade Doc suggests that you upgrade the downstream target databases first before upgrading the source - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10819/upgrade.htm#CIAFJJFC

  • Oracle 10g OLAP to 11g OLAP upgrade ?

We currently are planning on a upgrade from 10g OLAP => 11g OLAP. We currently have 12 AWM's in 10g OLAP which we need to move over with associated DML programs and additional SQL reporting views.
    Questions:
    1. Is there any documentation available on necessary steps for 10g OLAP => 11g OLAP upgrade?
    2. What would happen to existing AWM's prepared in 10g, would they be migrated to 11g transparently or have to be re-created?
    3. Is there any specific documentation related to changes in way cube builds are done programatically?
    4. Any changes in the way limit maps work in 11g?
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Sudip

Migrating a 10g cube to 11g depends on whether you are talking about 11gR1 or 11gR2. 10g cubes continue to operate in the "10g way" even after a database upgrade. They will not become "11g cubes" until they are rebuilt after the database upgrade. In 11gR2, there is a supported way to migrate 10g cubes to 11g cubes, both with AWM and with PL/SQL. Sorry to say... this functionality doesn't exist in 11gR1: you'll have to rebuild your cubes from the ground up.
The SQL relational views built using the AWM plugin in 10g are no longer applicable in 11g. That's because OLAP cubes in 11g are registered in the oracle data dictionary (just like other Oracle objects), and the SQL relational views are managed in the database and a recognized part of the product. The SQL relational views are quite different in 11g, so you will likely have to rewrite queries against them.
LIMIT map syntax is the same, but performance is much better.

  • Need clustering of ODI 10g

    Hi Gurus,
We have a requirement in which we need to install Clustering (High Availability) for ODI 10g.
Can anyone please help me regarding this issue ASAP.
    Any Help is Greatly Appreciable.
    Regards,
    Pavan Kumar.

ODI 11g by itself does not have any failover mechanism, ODI uses the fail-over mechanism implemented by the Application Server under which ODI J2EE Agents will be running i.e. if we have an ODI J2EE agent deployed on Weblogic for instance.
However, we can use the Load Balancing feature in ODI 10g or 11g to attain Pseudo High Availability, which can be implemented in the below mentioned steps,
    1.     On a specific host machine, define a "parent" Agent whose only function is to route ODI Scenario start-up commands to the appropriate "child" Agents.
    2.     Define more than one "child" Agent
    3.     For each "child" Agent on the cluster set the Concurrent Session Number parameter with a large value.
    4.     Open the Load balancing tab of the "parent" Agent and activate the checkbox for the "child" Agents on the cluster nodes (and not for the "parent" Agent itself). Limit the number of sessions on the "parent" Agent to (number of "child" Agents+2).
    5.     Route all ODI Scenario start-up commands and schedules to the "parent" Agent. This Agent will then forward ODI Scenarios to the most suitable child Agent
    Roles of the “Parent” agent:
     The "parent" Agent should be used to dispatch the executions on its "child" Agents that are alive or running.
     The "parent" Agent is able to detect that a "child" Agent is no longer running.
     Also, “parent” Agent is able to detect a "child" Agent that has just been started.
Note however that, once an execution has started on Agent A, if Agent A "dies", the current execution will NOT be moved on another Agent.
The "dying" execution should be manually pushed into the queue in order to have the "parent" Agent redistribute it on its still alive "child" Agents.
One concern is the "parent" Agent:
     If it dies, the already distributed tasks will continue to be executed on the corresponding "child" Agent.
     If the "parent" Agent dies, it should be restarted as soon as possible, in order to keep the flow active.
     Given its very important role, it should be placed on a machine that has a high uptime coefficient. If the machine stops, the Agent should be restarted ASAP.

Can this be related to the fact that I skipped some ODI releases - 10.1.3.5 or 11.1.1.5 ???

    Thanks for the confirmation.
We also have lot of business rules on 10.1.3.4.
In 10g we have a separate application called rules author to create/manage rules and which in tern save them to rules repository. These rules are not part of BPEL processes
but in 11g we have rules dictionary which will take all defined rules and is part of composite.
During upgrade process,How can 10g rules from rules repo come to dictionary in 11g?
Is this step automated or we need to manually export them from 10g rules rep and import them into 11g ?
    Waht is the process
    Thanks,
