All,
Can anyone guide the location where i can i get documentation on Pros and Cons once we upgrade ODI11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.5
What would be the effect after we ran ugrade utility on existing code.

This apply to ODI 11.1.1.7?

I believe it applies. Why dont you just test this in ODI 11.7?

Make sure you restart any agents and ODI components after copying the files.
I would recommend upgrading your version though so ODI is the same across your environments, upgrading is not a big task.

Character set mismatch in copying from oracle to oracle

I have a set of ODI scripts that are copying from a source JD Edwards ERP database (Oracle 10g) to a BI datamart (Oracle 10g) and all the original scripts work OK.
However I have mapped on to some additional tables in the ERP source database and some new BI tables in the target datamart database (oracle - to - oracle) but get an error when I try ro execute these.
The operator log shows that the error is in the 'INSERT FLOW INTO I$ TABLE' and the error is ORA-12704 character set mismatch.
The character set for both Oracle databases are the same (and have not changed) the main NLS_CHARACTERSET is AL332UTF8 and the national NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET is AL16UTF16.
But this works for tables containing NCHAR and NUMBER in previous scripts but not for anything I write now.
The only other difference is that there was a recent upgrade of ODI to 10.1.3.5 - the repositories are also upgraded.
Any ideas ?

yes, a gateway would help. In 11.2 Oracle offers 2 kind of gateways to a SQL Server - a gateway for free which is based on 3rd party ODBC drivers (you need to get them from a 3rd party vendor, they are not included in the package) and called Database Gateway for ODBC (=DG4ODBC) and a very powerful Database Gateway for MS SQL Server (=DG4MSQL) which allows you also to execute distributed transactions and call remote SQL Server stored procdures. Please keep in mind that DG4MSQL requires a separate license.
As you didn't post which platform you're going to use, please check out On "My Oracle Support" (=MOS) where you'll find notes how to configure each gateway for all supported platforms - just look for DG4MSQL or DG4ODBC

Issue at upgrade 10g to 11.1.1.7

The first attempt fails for a inssuficient space. So after increment tablespace and recover the SNPW_clone shema I attempt again

Since the upgrade failed the first time your schema was left behind in inconsistent state. So you need to restore the backup of master and work and then retry the upgrade process.

Facing very slowly response when opening operator

Hi all,
I have an issue when opening an operator module on the customer site.
I opened operator from my laptop that connect to the master / work rep on oracle11g (11.0.2.1)
and my laptop consume so much memory and CPU and then hang when click any scenario that reside on the work rep. (they have around 30,xxx scenarios on this work rep)
I don't know what's going on with this work rep. How can I track this kind of problem.
From the way that I look into this problem ,
I think the operator on my laptop try to gather some information (that's need to be shown on the operator) from the work rep into the memory (so that's why my taskmgr shows the javaw.exe consume so much CPU / Mem) and then hang.
Tried to use another machine even if it is a server machine to open operator but no luck the result was the same (consume a lot of mem / cpu and then hang).
PS. Designer / Topology are working fine with a normal response
PS2. ODI10g (10.1.3.3) + Oracle DB 11g (dedicated as repository data only)
and I decided to upgraded ODI10g to 11g and use the ODI Studio.
After a successfully upgraded
I opened up a ODI Studio and reconfig the profile to point to the upgraded repository.
Then the same problem occurs (just consume a large amount of mem / CPU and then hang)
If I just config the ODI profile to connect to only master rep. It could open only the topology (but not hang).

Will Upgrade Assistant work with MS SQL Server

We have ODI installed om MS SQL Server 2005. Current version of ODI is 10.1.3.5 and would like to upgrade to 11.1.1. My question is can we use upgrade assistant to create 2 instances of ODI that has old 10g Repository DB and 11g Repository DB or is Upgrade Asssitant work only when repositories are installed on Oracle 11g.

It's possible, but it's tough, you'll have to edit the ODI database to change the connection string to one that the new ODI likes, and the java driver to one Java likes.
For SQL Server 2005, the JAVA_DRIVER it wants is: weblogic.jdbc.sqlserver.SQLServerDriver
The connection string it will want will be like : jdbc:sqlserver://<host>:<port>;selectMethod=cursor;databaseName=<database_name>;

Hi Gupta-
It could be driver problem, can you check the drivers which you used earlier and the existing one. Try to execute the same procedure with different drivers so that you can come to know the issue.

Hi,
If you would like to move your source models, target models and project contents from Work repository 1 to another work repository.
I.e. Dev. server to Prod Server.
1. Firstly, replicate the master repository connections i.e. with same naming conventions manually
2. Go to Dev. Server work repository -> File Tab -> Click on Export work repository (save it in a folder)
3. After exporting, you can view the xml files in the folders.
4. Now, Open the Prod. server and make sure you already replicated mas. rep. details.
5. Now, right click on model and import source model in synonym mode insert_update (select source model from the folder where your xml file located)
6. Similarily, import again target then Project.
Now, check. It should work.

Assigning a Jython variable value to an ODI variable

I have to implement database cursor functionality in ODI.
For storing the returned values from database, I am using a Jython list.
The next functionality that I have to implement is as follows:
(i) For each value in the Jython list, I have to pass that value as a variable to an interface and then execute the interface
(ii) Return back to the Jython list to get the next value in it
(iii) Execute the interface for the new value from Jython list
(iv) Have to execute the interface for as many values as in the list and stop when list is over.

I tried your method of using source as a query in procedure and using ODI startScen in the Target of the same procedure. But the scenario runs only once, and then stops even though the Source query returns 4 rows.
Do we have to write Source and Target in separate steps of the procedure?
Does ODI store the many records returned into some internal variables?
I need to implement a cursor functionality so what is the best approach?
Can i pass array variable value to some odi variables and do a loop?
I used a workaround....it works but dont know if that's a good way of doing things:
I retrieved all the different values that I need in a string by appending the values(this was done using Java loop).
In my next step in the procedure I call a scenario(package which has some variables and my interface), which passes this long variable from Java as <@...@>
Then in the package I use an iteration variable which is used to find out the SubString position so that I can extract the correct string to use for my Interface in the next step of the Package.
It is working fine as of now.....but things could be made simpler if I could call the scenario in the Java loop, then I wouldn't need the iteration variable etc.

This error means that there is no value to assign to your variable, because specified query doesn't return result row. You should rewrite your query to guarantee that it would return row in any case.

ERROR WHILE RUNNING ODI SCENARIO FROM BAM ALERT

We are using oracle data integrator 11g and have created an ODI Scenario and able to run the scenario from ODI studio client.
We have done the configuration for BAM-ODI integration as mentioned in http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E21764_01/integration.1111/e10224/bam_odi.htm#BABEJIGD
We have started ODI Agent, soa and bam servers. Created a BAM alert -> select action - Run ODI Scenario -> selected the same scenario.

Error while executing a package in ODI

I am new to Oracle technology and when i am trying to execute one package through Oracle Data Integrator i am getting the below error. Even when i am trying to execute the procedure 'GENERATE_NAT_KEY' i am getting the error

Unable to install odi on windows 7 64 bit

I am trying to install odi after installing the RCU on a compatible db.
The odi i downloaded from is http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/data-integrator/downloads/index.html
the setup starts in command line initially and passes monitor and min CPU requirements and then shows please wait for some time and then finally quits without showing any error etc,
Please advise

can we able to right click and view data in models after reverse engineering in SAP in ODI 11g ??

No we cannot preview the data as SAP connection is made using Jco adapter.
We can only preview the data for data servers which are connected using jdbc.

ODI 11.1.1.3 to 11.1.1.5 upgrade
