EPM 11.1.2.1 is certified with 10.3.5.6+
To be honest if you are using 10.3.5.x then it worth patching the latest patch releases as many bugs have been addressed.

OK, figured out the compatability issue. Just had to add Windows 6.1 to the oraparam.ini file and I was able to install the application on a Windows 7 box.
Now I am getting an error when trying to create the connection. It says that the login already exists. Well of course it exists...I am just trying to create this connection string on this other pc. The connection string I am trying to create on the machine was already created on another machine and I am just trying to use this same one on the Windows 7 box. This connection tested OK I just need to save it on the new machine. Anyone know what I am doing wrong here?

ODI Client to Repository Compatibility

Hi All, I've downloaded the ODI compatibility spreadsheet from Oracle but it does not answer my oddball question...
Can you safely use the ODI Studio 11.1.1.5 against an ODI 11.1.1.6 Repository?
I've upgraded the main server and repository, but all development work in my clients site must be done on VM clients with the ODI studio on.
All developers have an allocated client machine.
Mine does not currently have sufficient disk space to upgrade ODI Studio (it's that bad).
So, for the interim, until I get some more disk allocated, am I safe to run the ODI 11.1.1.5 studio against the 11.1.1.6 repository.
Come on someone, illuminate me, and I'll get the beers in next time I'm down your way.

Hi,
They are certified for version 11, though there is still an issue when you use the calc script method for exporting data.
There is also a problem with loading data this exists on all the versions and it due to be fixed in the next EPM release later this year.

ODI console and compatibility

Hi,
I have installed SOA and ODI on same server.I created domain for both SOA and ODI.I'm able to see SOA severs
in fusion middleware console but ODI console is not coming.Can SOA and ODI will run or work using same weblogic server?

Hi,
ODI console is web Java application. You can launch in the web browser and connect to master and work repositories without using ODI client.
ODI console you cannot do development activity like creating interfaces...reverse engineering...
You can configure and modify ODI topology details in ODI console.
You can execute scenarios only and you can view error records details in the ODI console.
When you create a weblogic domain for ODI, you can select ODI console and EM components.
EM:Enterprise manager for ODI, where in you view agents status up/down,session status of executed scenarios.
CPU usage.
Lot of performance and monitoring information of ODI session and agents details you can see in the EM.

When installing it; check the option to run compatibility check in Windows XP and install it.
Please go to the below path and check for full read write access for the file/folder.
\oracledi\bin\snps_login_security.xml

MSSQLServer jdbc connect problem on ODI 11G R2

I have a MS SQL Server jdbc connect problem on ODI 11G R2 / Windows server 2008 64 bits.
Tried, one by one, all versions of Microsoft drivers.
Sqljdbc4.jar copied to : %appdata%\odi\oracledi\userlib\
The Topology connect syntax is :
driver: com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver
URL : jdbc:sqlserver://<host>:1433
=> All the topology tests end with time-outs.
Installed 10G ODI.
Works with 1.4 java and sqljdbc.jar version 2 jdbc driver.
Times out with version 3 and/or Sqljdbc4.jar + JAVA_HOME & ODI_JAVA_HOME set to 1.6 path.
also tried, with no success (time-outs) on either 10g or 11g :
com.inet.tds.TdsDriver
jdbc:inetdae7://<host>:1433?database=<DB>
same results for :
net.sourceforge.jtds.jdbc.Driver
jdbc:jtds:sqlserver://<host>:1433
Any suggestions for a fix?

ODI (11g) Studio is certified on Windows 32 bit only, not on 64bit.
However you may still install it and configure ODI Studio to run with a 32 bit java.

To connect to SQL Server:
# Check and make sure the authentication mode of your Microsoft SQL Server Server is set to "SQL Server and Windows" or "Mixed", otherwise Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) is unable to connect to the database.
# Before you create the Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) Dataserver in Topology Manager > Physical Architecture, stop all ODI processes, and place the JDBC Driver file in the ODI's userlib and "/drivers" folder.
For ODI Studio (Local No Agent)

%APPDATA% is the Windows Application Data directory for the user (usually C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data).

If you try sqljdbc.jar, you need to configure ODI_JAVA_HOME to jdk1.5
sqljdbc4.jar, jdk1.6 (since ODI 11g requires jdk1.6, I'd suggest sqljdbc4.jar)

ODI 10g: NUMBER column becomes NUMBER(22,0) on reverse

ODI Version: 10.1.3.6.3
Database Version: Oracle 10g (also seen in XE)
In the database, one of the columns in the table is defined as "num_val NUMBER". It has been defined this way to accomodate for decimals also. However, when I reverse this to my ODI model using the "Selective Reverse" the column gets created as "num_val NUMBER(22, 0)" due to which the decimals have got truncated.
I would like to know if this is an ODI bug (if yes, please point me to the patch) or the developer is expected to manually look and correct this in the ODI model ?
In Oracle database, defining a number column without precision & scale would designate maximum precision & scale to the column. I would expect that ODI should be aware of this during model reverse and create the column with maximum range as it exists in the Oracle database.

Good to know ur problem is solved.
Yes as i said, RDBMS reversing can be carried out by Standard method but in some cases ODI and JDBC drivers compatibility doesn't pull certain tables/views/data types etc and MOS declare it as a BUG.
So in those cases its suggested/advised to use RKM mode of reversing as a "work around" option.
But in general real time scenario RKM, is dedicated to reverse the meta data of adapters applications say Hyperion, essbase,planning, HFM etc and standard for any ANSI SQL/RDBMS applications.

ODI Studio slow

Hi,
I installed ODI Studio 11.1.1 (Generic) [I am using Windows7, 4GB RAM, but tried different compatibility modes].
I changed odi.conf to point to 32 bit java (C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jdk1.6.0_31).
I created master repository and work repository, smoothly.
I didn't install Web Logic Server, and "ODI server", as I need only simple local deployment for eduction.
I started to play with ODI Studio, but working in Designer is VERY SLOW. Windows and tabs are responding with huge delay.
I checked tables in master repository, none is massive (as it is fresh start) to justify such a poor interaction.
I set AddVMOption -XX:MaxPermSize=512M in odi.conf, thinking it is memory related, but task manager is not showing high memory consumption or processors.
Did anyone had similar problem ?

I am facing the same issue.
I login to ODI via Citrix Server. My ODI is installed on Citrix machine and my master repository and my work repository at a database which is not installed on the citrix machine.
When i see the solution that is provided earlier in this thread to have the work repository setup locally - does this mean that the work repository needs to be setup on a database on citrix where my ODI is installed?
Please validate and provide further inputs as to what are the other ways to resolve this issue.

Installing ODI on UBUNTU server

All,
Hope everyone had a blast on christmas and new years eve.
Happy New year 2012 to all of you!
I am setting up a VM on a 64 bit machine, I plan on installing a free server OS on it, and I have chosen UBUNTU 64 bit server.
I am trying to understand if there are any compatibility issues that ODI has with UBUNTU.

After I select the directory for installing ODI and click next,it gives me error saying :-
INST-07545: Unexpected Error. sealing violation: can't seal package javax.xml.bind.annotation: already loaded
I did some research and all I got is its an unexpected error from the below link.
