ODI and Planning Applications Created from EPMA

Dear All,
can ODI be used with Planning applications created from EPMA or it only can be used with classic applications?
Your answer is very much appreciated.
BR,
ioGGo.

Hi,
Because the adapters provided within ODI does support only classic Planning applications, you can use ODI with classic Planning for metadata integration. This doesn't mean though, that you cannot use ODI to feed metadata in to EPMA. You can load the metadata to interface tables and automate the integration using EPMA batch utility.
Plus, you can still use it for data extract & load as essbase is essbase no matter your application is classic or EPMA.
However I must admit that it's more handy using with classic Planning. Check John Goodwin's blog if you haven't.
Cheers,
Alp

  • Unable to delete Planning application created through EPMA

    Hi friends,
Iam unable to delete the planning application created through EPMA.Tried logging in as admin still its not allowing.
I tried in application view-> right click and delete.it will ask for all related info and when I say 'delete', the status is aborted.
Can anyone tell whether we can delete an application created through EPMA. or is there a way to delete in backend.
    Regards.

    Hi,
You could try and find more information from the logs, first change the level of logging for EPMA, it is set as standard to INFO and it is probably best changed to DEBUG.
    To do this
    Stop EPMA
Go to the deployed Web application directory.
    For Tomcat, this is C:\Hyperion\deployments\Tomcat5\EPMAWebTier\webapps\awb\WEB-INF\conf.
    Open AWBLog4j.properties.
    Modify this line:
log4j.logger.com.hyperion.awb=ERROR,logfile, stdout to log4j.logger.com.hyperion.awb=DEBUG ,logfile, stdout
    RESTART EPMA
Then try and delete again and check to see if the logs have further information.
    Cheers

  • Essbase and planning applications migration from 11.1.2.1 to 11.1.2.4

    Hi Masters,
I have few Hyperion 11.1.2.1 running servers for Essbase and planning applications (Essbase alone applications and planning applications are running into different servers). Now we are planning to upgrade 11.1.2.1 directly to new 11.1.2.4 servers.
could you guys please suggest me the best way of migrating these applications to 11.1.2.4?
    Thanks a lot,
    Siva

    Hi John,
Actually we are moving all our existing servers to some new data center. the plan is like installing 124 in the new server in the new data center and migrate the existing 121 applications to the 124 servers.
So is there a best way to migrate like i said above? or do we need to install 121 in the new server 1st and migrate the applications from existing 121 servers, then apply maintenance release of 124 would be best way?
    Thanks,
    siva

  • Upgrading HFM application created in EPMA from 11.1.1.x to 11.1.2.x

    Hi,
Can someone please let me know how to upgrade the HFM application created in EPMA.
I know how to upgrade if it is classis application just by upgrading the database in EPM System Configurator.
What happens or need to be done if it was built in EPMA? Just upgrading schemas of both EPMA & HFM in Configurator is enough?
    Any pointers are appreciated!
    Thanks in advance,

  • Financial report for essbase and planning application

    Hi,
Can any one please explain me what is the difference between creating financial report for essbase application and planning application.
Considering we will have Essbase cube for the planning application
    Thanks in advance

Correct, the data that is stored in Essbase will be the same regardless of which connection type you use.
Data that is only stored in Planning can only be retrieved using a Planning connection. This includes Supporting Detail and SmartLists as these are stored in the Planning relational database.
As a general rule I always use an Essbase connection unless i specifically want to get supporting detail or smartlists but that is just me.
    Hope this helps

  • Configure clients to develop essbase and planning applications

    Hi Gurus
I have installed hyperion on one of the windows server. Now I want to configure the client components on local machine to develop essbase and planning applications. How to do that? My goal is to have multiple clients configured so that multiple developers can work simultaneously.
    Thank you.

If you have essbase/planning running on a server then you don't really need to install many client components.
Planning is mainly accessible through the web, you could install smartview or the excel addin for use in excel, there are standalone installers available for this.
EAS console can be accessed over the web which will save it having to be installed on client machines, it can be accessed by http://<easmachine>:10080/easconsole/console.html
If you are looking at using financial reporting then you would have to install financial reporting studio, as you only said planning/essbase then you may not be interested.

  • ODI and Loading to/Extracting from Hyperion Planning **?

    All,
first--I am not a Hyperion expert.
    Clients have 2 requirements:
#1. Loading data ( flat file format residing in Windows environment) ''to'' Hyperion Planning 9.3.1
#2. Extracting Data 'From' Hyperion Planning 9.3.1 to a flat file ( residing in Windows environment)
    Questions:
    #1 I have looked at materials at OBE > ( http://ias.us.oracle.com/portal/page?_pageid=33,1704614&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL)
I have been able to reverse engineer a Hyperion application in ODI. but apparently that's not all, and there is additional work to be done in Hyperion itself
namely---'preparing' dimensional members, before loading any data.
Let's say the input data is comprised of: Product_code, Account_num, Period, Amount
Can someone explain how the following recommended steps by Hyperion example can plays out to load this data?
    1) Loading Metadata? ( what needs to be added/changed in Hyperion diemnsion)
    2) Loading Data?
#2 do we have to use ODI to create interface and extract/write data from Hyperion to a flat file? isn't there any Hyperion 'Facility' which does that?
    any pointers is appreciated.
    Thanks
    ali

    Hello,
Unfortunately there is no SSO option from "Planning to FDM" via Tasks.
The URL you should tell Planning to launch in a new window is 'http://<ServerName>/HyperionFDM'
If Planning can not execute that in a fresh IE window; then there isn't much that can be done.
It might also be advantageous to post this to the Planning group as well; since this isn't necessarily an FDM discussion.
    Thank you,

  • Handling Planned order created from Demand planning and Sales order in MTO

    Hi all
In MTO\ Repetitive we genrate Dependent requirement from demand planning (PIR) after running MRP which finally planned order created but on the other hand in short term we have Sales order which generate planned order after running MRP(In MTO), How we should handle planned order generated from Demand planning and the ones generated from sales order.(both after MRP Running).
    Regards
    Babak Bolourchi

    Dear,
You can combine the planning strategy also main as 56 and second as 65 and in demand managment MD61 you have the option select requirement type.
Then while creating sales order use MTO strategy and take MRP run through MD50 and then MD02.
and if you want to assign the stock to sales order then you and do it through MB1b with 412 E movement type.
As per my knowledge, generally 56 strategy only takes Sales Order Stock into consideration.
Consider setting the Individual/Collective indicator to 2.
Mark those characteristics that should have a usage probability in demand management as Relevant for planning.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Photographers plan and selling images created from them

I have been searching some time now to find an answer but I can't find anything conclusive,
In our country (the netherlands) you can have a 'company' as a person (The person is the company and the company is the person, no difference at all only an added company name to your entity but non the less privately liable etc.), for this, the bussiness plans offered by Adobe may be a bit too much if you only need Photoshop. In my case the CC Photographers plan looks very nice and useful. Because you have a company with only an owner in it and no other staff, it seems that the Photographers plan seems compatible due to the one license per person (individual). But now comes the tricky part:
In the EULA it states that Service Bureaus can't use the software commercially. This is a bit unclear to me, because in the Netherlands every company that provides a service (taking photos and sell them, creating designs for websites or other media) is being considered as a service bureau/company.
So I have a few questions and I hope a staff member will answer this question as I have seen some answers on the forum but by other users (they do not know for sure) it is just as a gamble as not asking this question at all.
Can I use the photographers plan, in the Netherlands, and sell everything I create from it or use that I create from it in other commercial product such as websites, mobile apps and games?
What exactly is the definition of a servicebureau according to Adobe as described in the EULA's?
I hope you guys can answer this for me because I really want to use Adobe Photoshop in my workflow but I do not want any issues or problems later.
    With kind regards,

  • ODI and Planning

    Hi,
If anybody know how can I load and extract text data from Planning using ODI?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Unfortunately you can't just put the text in a load file because the ODI Knowledge Module doesn't seem to cater for it, it will say the interface runs correctly but no data will be loaded.
Now I did find away round this.
The first thing to do is to get all the text members into the planning repository.
It stores them in a table called HSP_TEXT_CELL_VALUE
You have 2 options to get them into the table, first is to enter them all into a form which depending on how many there are can be a problem or
You can load them from a file or table directly into the HSP_TEXT_CELL_VALUE table, this can be done by an ODI interface.
The thing to watch for is the TEXT_ID, you don't want duplicates, so you either load the table cleanly each time or append to it.
The only problem is that planning caches the values from table and you need to restart planning to pick them up.
You will now need to create a datastore pointing at the database table HSP_TEXT_CELL_VALUE, I will call this datastore CELL_TABLE
Once you have done that then open your normal Load data to planning interface, in the source should be the datastore to your load file, I will call this datastore LOAD_FILE
Drag the datastore CELL_TABLE onto the source window and create a join between your data field in LOAD_FILE datastore and the field VALUE in the CELL_TABLE datastore.
Once you have that you need to replace the data field mapping on the target with TEXT_ID from the CELL_TABLE datastore, so in your target you will have a mapping like nnn.TEXT_ID
What this will do will map the text value from your load file to the value in the planning table HSP_TEXT_CELL_VALUE, it will then load this value into essbase.
I know it is not the simplest thing to do and I am not sure if this will make it clear to you, all depends on how well you know ODI.
If you don't understand and are interested in finding out further then I would consider making an entry on my blog to show how it is done.
    Cheers

  • Access to "RATE" and "PLANNING" applications in "APSHELL" Appset

    Hi,
When I login into "BPC for Excel" why are the applications "RATE" and "PLANNING" not in drop-down for 'Application'? Has this anything to do with security or has it got to do with "RATE" and "PLANNING" being SAP delivered content in BPC?
    Regards

Yes, it has to do with member access profiles. I updated the member access profiles per your suggestion and I can now see 'RATE' and 'PLANNING' in drop down for 'Applications'. Thanks.

  • Problems Viewing and Printing PDFs Created from FrameMaker

I got no responses to this issue in the Acrobat forums (I posted 6 days ago), so since at least some of the PDFs were created through FrameMaker, I am posting here to see if anyone in this forum has seen the problem.
At our company, we regularly create PDFs, usually from FrameMaker version 9. In most cases, we have no problems with the PDFs, but once in a while, we are notified that customers get the following problems:
If they try to print the PDF, they see a series of messages which consistently include "The document could not be printed" and "There were no pages selected to print." If they choose a page or range to print, this often works, but certain pages will not print. In one case, I saw a message saying there was a problem with the PDF with the number 14, but this does not always appear.
Often, the pages that will not print, when viewed at a normal magnification, appear as very small thumbnails that look like the dotted line down a black highway. The rest of the pages are at a normal magnification and can be read.
Often, these same PDFs crash when certain bookmarks are clicked.
This always seems to happen when the PDFs are viewed within a browser on our website or in our web-based software. I've been told by our tech group that it happens in other browsers, not just Internet Explorer, and it still happens if they save the PDF out of the browser down to the desktop and try printing from there.
In the cases I've seen, when I go back and look at the original generated PDF file in Adobe Reader or Acrobat (not within a browser), none of these problems occur. Redelivering the file to the web location often fixes the problem.
I've read many posts about this in various locations on the Internet and one in the Adobe Forums, but none seem to come up with the cause to this problem - they just come up with workarounds for printing the file.
One other note - one of our engineers and tech writers found that one PDF with this problem appeared to have Fast Web Viewing turned off, even though nothing was done differently when the PDFs were generated.
Does anyone have any information on what causes this problem and how we can avoid it?
    Tammy

I'm not sure why, but my original post came through blank. Here is a
    second attempt:
    > Often, the pages that will not print, when viewed at a normal
    magnification, appear as very
    > small thumbnails that look like the dotted line down a black highway.
    The rest of the pages
    > are at a normal magnification and can be read.
I almost didn't reply to your post because I'm not sure that I am making
anything but a wild guess. But I seem to recall many years ago that
there were some reports on the frameusers.com listserv of some PDF pages
showing up as tiny pages-- similar to what you describe. I'm not sure if
I can trust my recollection, but I THINK the fix was to go into the PDF
printer properties, and reduce the dpi setting from 1200 to 600 or even
    300. I don't remember the exact reason, but I think it had something to
do with a problem in the way Windows GDI interacts with documents
containing large-size type (such as 72-point glyphs). Anyway, I may be
remembering it wrong, or may be off on the wrong track altogether, but
it won't hurt to make the change and try. You can always change the
    setting back.
And if it doesn't work, consider posting your operating system, Acrobat
version number, and whether or not FrameMaker 9 is fully patched. It
might help someone else chime in with help.

  • Standalone application created from APEX

    Dear Experienced Users,
My question is that after we build application with APEX, can it be distributed as a standalone installation without APEX? for example create an .war or .ear for deployment.
    Best Regards,

No, this is impossible. An APEX app consists of metadata held in the APEX schema in the database, and possibly some external resources such as images and JavaScript files. It absolutely requires an Oracle database with APEX installed.
