ODI File Append tool

Hi,
I'm using the ODIFileAppend tool to merge the content of 2 files ito one. Structure of the 2 files is identical. My issue is that in the new merged file the content of the second file does not start on a new line but on the same line as the last line from the first file but seperated by a / character. This causes issues when I import the file to my staging table as it breaks the expected file format. Can I make the append do what I logocally thought it would do i.e. put the first line of the appended file on a new line? If not is there another way to handle this elegantly?

Hi,
See if you find any help from here OdiFileAppend tool issue with new line character?
Thanks,
Sutirtha

    import os
    sourceDirectory = "/home/oracle1/Desktop/test"
    inFileNames = "#FILE_NAMES"
    inFileNamesList = inFileNames.split(" ")
    inFileIDS = *"'a','1','2','3'"*
    inFileIDSList = inFileIDS.split(",")
    i = 0
    for item in inFileNamesList:
         command ="awk 'BEGIN {OFS=\"" + "#FILE_DELIMITER\"" + "} {print $0,\"[|]\"" + *inFileIDSList* + ",\"[|]\"NR}' " + sourceDirectory + os.sep + item + " >> " + sourceDirectory + os.sep + "#SESS_CURR_TS"
         os.system(command)
         i = i + 1
    Now my problem is here :
    Yu can seee my inFileIDS values.Ana I have splitted comma and then first I will write file then *inFileIDSList[i]* and at the and NR
    But character a is not written.Number values is appended but character values is not appended.
    Why it can be so ?
    someone has an idea about this problem
    Coluld anyone help me to solve this problem?
    Regards

    import os
    sourceDirectory = "#SOURCE_DIRECTORY"
    inFileNames = "#FILE_NAMES"
    inFileNamesList = inFileNames.split(" ")
    inFileIDS = "#FILE_IDS"

         os.system(command)
         i = i + 1
    My original code is above.Now I am printing file datas and I want to print file name that are being ready.
    First print$0(all line) and field_delimiter(;) and then I will print filename which file is processed.My output file will be like this:
    all line;FILENAME
    But I write FILENAME into awk command it returns with path .So for example likie this:/d102/odi/uca/arrival/data/T02344903302310.txt .But I want to print only file name without paths.
    I want to print T02344903302310.txt so my output file will be like this:
    all_line;T02344903302310.txt and there are many files like this.
    Could anyone has an idea?

  • Executing batch files via ODI cmd line tool

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing an issue when trying to run batch files via the ODI Cmmmand line tool with any agent that isn't the local agent. My call is simply the full filepath of the batch file. When I run with local agent everything works fine. However when I run with an agent configured in the Topology the process just hangs in the operator indefinately in a running state but never executes or produces any output and I have to kill it. Any ideas? The agent is installed on the same server as the ODI Studio instance I use when running the local agent

    Sounds like that on the remote agent, the batch job is waiting for a user key input and hence it appears in a hung state. You can add try to trace from Agent logs and echo combinations to know where is this happening
    In unix environment you can send keys programmatically. Not sure how to do that in the Windows environment.

    The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

    It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
    I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

    edit: If you go to the Firebug forums, you'll see this is now a known problem. http://code.google.com/p/fbug/issues/detail?id=4012 for the issue tracker.

  • ODI File Datastore

    Hi All,
    I have a confusion regarding physical and logical length in ODI file datastore.
    I have a fixed width file where a col c2 had datatype as string(30).
    I defined that column in datastore as string>Physical length 30 >Logical length 30
    My interface failed with error as"
    ORA-12899: value too large for column "S0_IDM"."C$_0S0_EAGLE_DWHCDC_CHRG_MST"."C2_CHARGE_DESC" (actual: 31, maximum: 30)"
    When I increased the logical length to 255,the interface worked fine.
    Physical length still being the same 30.
    How different is this?
    Any help on this will be appreciated.
    Thanks and Regards
    Reshma

    This is not from any official documentation, but here is my take after a few moments thought
    Everything you do in the ODI designer is based on the logical architecture. Only at runtime is this manifested into a physical implementation i.e. connection strings are materialized etc. When you perform an integration ODI generally creates a few temporary tables prefixed with C$, I$ etc to be able to perform the necessary data movement and transformations required to, for example, populate a target datastore (table). In your example, your flat file will be materialized into such a temporary table before its contents are manipulated (or not) and loaded to the target datastore. When ODI generates this code it is using the logical length issued in the DDL that generates the temporary table column lengths, the physical column is ignored.
    Now in your scenario this is not a problem as constraints such as these do not matter to the physical version of the file i.e. if you were to write back to the file it would not matter if you wrote back 255 characters or 31. This could be a problem if you were using database tables and varying the logical vs. physical lengths but usually you reverse engineer database tables using ODI rather than doing it manually so this mitigates that.
    Anyway, in short, I think the logical lengths should be taken as representing what will be manifested in the materialization of the temporary objects used to manged / transform data from the source models (C$tables) and target models (I$tables)  whereas the physical lengths indicate what the underlying physical representation of those models actually are.
    EDIT: After reading a bit of documentation logical actually represents the length whereas physical is related to the number of bytes required to store the data. Therefore you could have a situation with multi-byte characters where the physical length could be greater than the logical length but not really the other way around.

  • OSB File append

    I have setup a File protocol based Business Service in OSB. This Business Service is called by a Proxy Service after setting the file name in the outbound transport header and assigning the text to be written to the file. When executed, the file is successfully created. When the proxy service is executed again, a new file is created. I would like the data to be appended to the existing file. How do we achieve this?
    I know there is a property - 'Append' which should be set to true in case of file adapters. I tried setting the outbound transport header to 'Append', 'append', 'jca.file.append', 'jca.file.Append'. None of these seem to help.

    Thanks for the link. That really helped!
    However, though the file is created by the file adapter, the contents are missing. While configuring the File Adapter in JDev, I defined the following XSD as the message for the write operation.
    <xsd:element name="log">
    <xsd:complexType>
    <xsd:sequence>
    <xsd:element name="logMessage" type="xsd:string" />
    </xsd:sequence>
    </xsd:complexType>
    </xsd:element>
    And I am sending the following in the SOAP Request...
    <log:log xmlns:log="http://myNS/LogFileWriter">
    <log:logMessage>My Log message...</log:logMessage>
    </log:log>
    I expect the value 'My Log message...' to be written to the file. However, it is always empty.

  • Where can I download adobe File Packager tool for Windows?

    Dear all,
    I need to understand the detail format of f4f files, but the only useful information I can find is the following:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/httpdynamicstreaming/pdfs/httpdynamicstreaming_wp_ue.pdf
    Is there more detail specification for f4f ?
    Where can I download adobe File Packager tool for Windows?
    It seems to me the following specification is not correct for f4f, at least the parts talking about "mdat" box
    http://download.macromedia.com/f4v/video_file_format_spec_v10_1.pdf
    Thanks,

    As per your question – follow this link http://www.adobe.com/products/adobe-media-server-family.html, download and install AMS Starter, then inside \tools\f4fpackager you’d find the F4F packager command-line application.

  • RE: Importing a class CEX file using TOOL

    What exactly are you trying to do when you say "import"? I can think of
    two possibilities:
    1. You simply want to import the text of the file, in which case
    you can use Forte's File class.
    2. You actually want to load the class definition and instantiate
    an object based on that class. If so, you will need to deploy the class
    in a library and use Forte's dynamic class loading and instanceAlloc().
    This is well documented in the Forte manuals.

    Hello,
    I don't know about any forte classes to do the job.
    But, if it just automating the imports that you are concerned with
    then you can accomplish it using fscript.
    For eg. in UNIX machines you can write a shell script to go through
    a directory, get all files with .cex extension and call fscript which
    would open a workspace/repository and do an import plan.
    Hope this helps

    Hi Chris,
    The goal that I want to achieve is this: at runtime, read a CEX file from
    my filesystem and "import class" it into my workspace. It is equivalent to
    invoking the menu item "Component,Import Class/Interface".
    Basically I am generating hundreds of TOOL classes and I don't want to
    manually import them myself. I am aware of the Forte Code generator, but
    the classes I wish to generate are much too complex for the generator (I
    want virtual attributes based upon NonKeyAttributes, with their own Set and
    Get methods, as well as methods with changing/variable parameters -
    something I believe that the generator cannot handle).
    Cheers,
    Geoff Whittington

    Subject: RE: Importing a class CEX file using TOOL
    What exactly are you trying to do when you say "import"? I can think
    of
    two possibilities:

    Auto forwarded by a Rule
    Hi Forte Users,
    Would anyone know how to import a class CEX file using TOOL
    code? Is there
    a class in one of the libraries that I can use to do such a
    task?
    If anyone has some insight into such an endeavor (positive or
    negative)
    please respond!
    As well, I would like to express my appreciation for this
    mailing list - it
    has carried some excellent Forte dialogue.
    Thanks for all your help!

  • How to realize single line in eclipse's file compare tool

    You may use the eclipse's file compare tool, when it compare two files it display two files side by side, and connect ranges with single line. When you scroll the pane, these single lines with change their forms accrodingly but always connect ranges.
    I'm programming a similar tool to the eclipse's file compare tool. I'd like to know which classes are related to this kind of "single line", any suggestion will be appreciated.
    Best regards

    Thank you very much for your reply.
    In fact I am not sure what I am planning to do. If it is too complicated, I will modify the design and make it easier to realize. Cause I don't know any classe for drawing lines, do you know any more besides java.awt.geom.Line2D?
    In addition, I posted another message related to this one. They are different parts of one same project, can you take a look at it?
    Thank you very much.

    The menu is accessable by using the <alt> shortcut keys (<alt>F brings up the File dropdown menu).  I was able to get the tool bars back by <alt>V - Toolbars but the menu is still not visible.

  • SWF File creation tool for Unifier Custom Dashboards

    Hello Everyone,
    I am looking for a tool that can allow me to create SWF files to be used for Custom Dashboard. I know that using third-party SWF file creation tools, swf template files can be created and we can build custom dashboards in Unifier.
    Can anyone provide me with list of SWF file creation tools that you have used for Unifier dashboards.
    Thanks

    The only tool that the SWF Dashboards were designed to work with is Xcelcius. Please bear in mind that only legacy Skire customers that had created SFW dashboards have the ability to use SWF dashboards.
