ODI to connect with Multiple Foxpro DBF files having same structure.
Hi Experts ,
Need your help on the situation below on ODI 11g .
I Identified my source system as Foxpro ,and there are 20000 users using this fox-pro application and each generates its own output file(zipped with dbf files ) .
Example of DBF file -> User1 : daccount_18356.DBF , User2 :daccount_17536.DBF and goes on ....
1. Please recommend how do i connect or automate this DBF files ?
2. Also its having different file name per user but having same format . ?
Please let me know if any details needed further .
Thanks
Kenny

Ashish,
I have similar issue. we are loading multiple files and getting "java.sql.SQLException: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist" error while inserting a record into staging table. Appreciate if you or any one suggest solution.
we are using following KM-
1) LKM File to SQL
2) IKM SQL CONTROL APPEND.

Mergeing files of same structure to one file without BPM
Hi XI Gurus,
I want to merge various xml files having same structures(coming as separate files in source directory) to a one file. I want to do it without using BPM.I need this Final structure as an input to another scenario to post an idoc.
e.g -->
<i>File1</i>:
<AR_Posting>
<currency_line_item>1<currency_line_item>
<tax_line_item>2<tax_line_item>
<customer_line_item>3<customer_line_item>
<AR_Posting>
<i>File 2</i>:
<AR_Posting>
<currency_line_item>11<currency_line_item>
<tax_line_item>22<tax_line_item>
<customer_line_item>33<customer_line_item>
<AR_Posting>
<i>File 3</i> :
<AR_Posting>
<currency_line_item>111<currency_line_item>
<tax_line_item>222<tax_line_item>
<customer_line_item>333<customer_line_item>
<AR_Posting>
Target:
<Recordset>
<AR_Posting>
<currency_line_item>1<currency_line_item>
<tax_line_item>2<tax_line_item>
<customer_line_item>3<customer_line_item>
<AR_Posting>
<AR_Posting>
<currency_line_item>11<currency_line_item>
<tax_line_item>22<tax_line_item>
<customer_line_item>33<customer_line_item>
<AR_Posting>
<AR_Posting>
<currency_line_item>111<currency_line_item>
<tax_line_item>222<tax_line_item>
<customer_line_item>333<customer_line_item>
<AR_Posting>
<Recordset>
Please suggest any solution to achieve this.Hi Anurag,,
I guess what Sumit is aiming for, is that if you don't want to use a BPM you will need a two step solution.
Step one:
If the different files have the same structure, read them with a sending file adapter and route the to an receiving file adapter which appends all messages to a new combined file.
Step two:
Read the new combined file with a sending file adapter and route the messages to your target interface.
This approach of-course means that you can not do any correlations as you can in BPM. I.e. you will not "know" when all three files have arrived but just simply read the combined files at certain times and pick-up whatever content it holds.

Problem of creating FoxPro dbf file in Java
Hi all,
I tried to create a empty FoxPro dbf file with the following codes in Java:
sqlString = "create table mytable.dbf ( Name C(10) )"
queryStatement.execute( sqlString );
And it did create a "mytable.dbf" file. However, when I opened it with Excel, it said that it is not a recognizable format. If I continued to open it, I could only see some junks inside.
I am using Windows 2000 Pro and j2sdk 1.4.2. I also have Microsoft Visual FoxPro Driver installed. This works perfectly with SQL commands like SELECT and INSERT, but just doesn't work for CREATE. Does any body have a clue of what I should do? Thanks a lot!
AlexYou may want to get rid of the .dbf part in your create statement. Foxpro doesn't need that. It should be:
create table mytable(myfield c(10)), not create table mytable.dbf(myfield c(10)).
This may help. If people are using a recent version of Excel it should be able to open up foxpro tables...I do it all the time. What version of Foxpro are you running, and what version of the dbc driver for Foxpro are you using?

Hello,
Could you please inform me whether there is any facility in OWB for importing old Foxpro DBF files?
We want to make a data warehouse from old Foxpro systems and there are terabytes of data in the foxpro dbf format(It would be big even after the first ETL). So I hope I don't have to use ODBC that could be slow and use something native instead that could be faster.
Thanks,
Reza
P.S we use Oracle 11g Release 2

Edited by: user13814337 on Feb 19, 2011 6:51 AMHi,
It will be an ETL process, I am not sure if there is anything like java or pl/sql package that can do this ETL, If it is not there then we have to develop it. I hoped OWB could have something for that, but seems there is nothing built-in in OWB for foxpro systems.

Saving spool request with multiple Adobe PDF files to local directory
Hi,
I have a spool file with multiple Adobe PDF files in it. You can only save the spool content to local directory by opening and save each PDF files. Does anyone know whether there is a way to combine all the PDF files within a spool into one big PDF file?
ChuinAre you using any plugins, like PDFlyer?

Multiple web catalog files for same rpd
Is there any way to run multiple web catalog files for same rpd in OBIEE?
Why do you want to do that? Why not merge them into one? You run seperate presentation servers againt the same RPD.

Connecting remote FoxPro dbf file using jdbc odbc bridge driver?
Hi all,
I am new to this topic, (even I read some threads)
I need to access some FoxPro tables (dbf files) and select some data and save to an oracle table. what is the best method to do this?
If I use java as development tool. which other drivers or methods to use beside jdbc-odbc driver?
I read from this link but I didn't understand.
http://java.sun.com/products/jdbc/faq.html#5
"5. How can I use the JDBC API to access a desktop database like Microsoft Access over the network?
Most desktop databases currently require a JDBC solution that uses ODBC underneath. This is because the vendors of these database products haven't implemented all-Java JDBC drivers.
The best approach is to use a commercial JDBC driver that supports ODBC and the database you want to use. See the JDBC drivers page for a list of available JDBC drivers.
The JDBC-ODBC bridge from Sun's Java Software does not provide network access to desktop databases by itself. The JDBC-ODBC bridge loads ODBC as a local DLL, and typical ODBC drivers for desktop databases like Access aren't networked. The JDBC-ODBC bridge can be used together with the RMI-JDBC bridge, however, to access a desktop database like Access over the net. This RMI-JDBC-ODBC solution is free.
"Another solution by using HXTT DBF, a commercial type 4 JDBC package: You should read Remote Access Questions section at http://www.hxtt.net/en/software/dbf/faq.html#remote .

JDBC-ODBC bridge? I read about it. But I have doubts:
The dbf is in a windows system. Can I use the bridge it to connect remotely from a Linux System?
If true, Do I need ODBC driver in the Linux System?
However, I think jdbc is more standard (maybe some day the dbf will be moved to a "normal" db)The idea of the JDBC-ODBC bridge driver is that it is JDBC. So in your code you use JDBC. Then, in essence, the bridge driver maps your JDBC calls onto ODBC ones instead.
As far as the Linux part of this goes... I honestly don't know. I think I once heard of someone successfully doing this but I could be wrong. You would for sure need an ODBC Unix driver for DBF. I would suggest searching this forum (for using JDBC -. ODBC on Unix/Linux) before spending a lot of time going down this route. Like I said I think it is possible but I could be wrong, I've never done it
anyway and it wouldn't be a really popular idea.'
So that sort of leaves you wanting a type-4 (pure Java driver for DBF). I think your choices at this point are:
1) Pay money. I believe there are non-free pure Java JDBC drivers for DBF. So you would have to pay money for it however outside of that this is probably the easiest solution and best fits everything else you've talked about.
2) Don't use JDBC for the DBF part. Like the link I posted earlier there do seem to be a few free open-source projects for reading and writing DBF files from Java. This plan though has the serious drawback that it will tie the database interaction code tightly to DBF and not be portable to another database.
3) Drop FoxPro.
So I think your customer needs to pick the option above that best meets the requirements. -
Solved. Travel router WTR54GS sharing one wireless hotspot connection with multiple devices
Hi, Passing on info I've learned.
The manual for the WTR54GS mentions being able to "...use multiple devices on a single hotspot account in a coffee shop or airport lounge...". See my original posting, "How to set up a wireless private bubble at paid hotspot? WTR54GS?", which ended in a dead end. I subsequently had a Linksys live chat session and the representative provided the solution. Perhaps worthy to be included in the Wireless FAQ?
Situation: you have access to a paid hotspot (hotel room, meeting room, etc.) and you want to share the connection with several devices, also wirelessly.
Solution: the WTR54GS can accept an incoming Internet connection wirelessely and re-broadcast that connection to form your own private bubble or network. (Note the WTR54GS can also accept an incoming Internet connection via Ethernet cable).
Linksys Live Chat pointed me to these web pages.
Go to the Linksys Easy Answers page: For a schematic of the concept of "associating the travel router to a hotspot (wirelessly)" search for Easy Answer ID# 4831
URL for above is http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/linksys.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4831&p_created=1167963305&p_sid=GmLnq3Zi&p_accessibility=0&p_lva=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NjImcF9wcm9kcz0wJnBfY2F0cz0xNzIxLDE3MjMmcF9wdj0mcF9jdj0yLjE3MjMmcF9zY2ZfbGFuZz0xJnBfcGFnZT0xJnBfc2VhcmNoX3RleHQ9V1RSNTRHUw**&p_li=&p_topview=1
There is a "configuration simulator" that shows the options for selecting a wired or wireless incoming Internet Type.
http://linksys.com/ui/files/WTR54GS/1.0_15/Setup-Wireless.htm
The hotspot has to be "open", that is transmitting an SSID and with no WEP or WPA key. It may have a log-in page accessible via a web browser, this is okay as this will be passed onto the connected device.
My personal application is to be able to connect a PDA that has a 801.2b wifi to a 801.2g wireless network. I haven't tried it but if this works, it will extend the useful life of my PDA in a "g" environment. Will report back once I find a "g" only environment. Comments?

Dang, the long URL is making for a really wide message. Is there a fix?
Message Edited by tony_vancouver on 02-28-2008 02:08 PM
Message Edited by tony_vancouver on 02-28-2008 02:12 PMThere are two conditions which must be met in order to use your WTR54GS to "extend" an incoming, wireless internet connection:
The incoming connection must be unsecured. You have already covered this point;
The security settings on your WTR54GS can only be set to "WEP," or to "Disabled." If you choose "WEP," then you can use either a 40/64-bit, or a 128-bit key.
If those two conditions have been met, then it works fine -- says the guy who is sharing one paid internet conneciton in his hotel amongst three devices, and with co-workers in nearby rooms. -

LDAP connections with multiple proxy instances
After configuring LDAP connectivity through the Admin application on a machine with multiple proxy instances I end up with:
number of proxy instances x LDAPConnPool times number of connections to the LDAP server.
Question: Is it possible to prevent some of the proxy instances from opening LDAP connections?Hi
Increase the IDLE timeout value on the LDAP server. Of course, this just extends the inevitable. Check if there is a way to disable IDLE timeout on LDAP server.

JDeveloper 10.1.3 Bug With Multiple JSF Config Files?
There seems to be a problem with JDeveloper 10.1.3 when you have multiple JSF configuration files. I have three configuration files created for a JSF application. One file contains navigation cases, a second file contains the managed beans, and a third file consists of the regular faces-config.xml file.
When you are working with a backing bean in JDeveloper, it seems to have a nasty habbit of sticking a "new" managed bean definition for the backing bean you are working on in the faces-config.xml file.Good point. We'll try to address this in the production release of 10.1.3.
Thanks,

Can't connect with the Muse Fundamentals files
When starting the tutorials Muse is not connecting to the Muse Fundamentals files with the graphics to create the first website. When I installed the app, I did not use the default path but told it to install at C:\ProgramFiles\.
Should I re-install or how do I retrieve these files so that I can continue through the tutorials?
Thanks,Hello

RV320 Connecting With Multiple fixed IP's
Hope someone can help me with this be warned I'm no expert.
We have 2 BT business broadband lines, 1 with a single fixed address and 1
with multiple fixed addresses both connected using Draytek Vigor 120's.
The line with the single fixed address works fine using PPPOE login from the RV320 as BT auto allocate the fixed IP.
What I can't work out is how to login to the line with the multiple IP's and set the Fixed IP as It doesn't seem to be auto allocated.
If I login using PPPOE I just get a dynamic allocated address.
If I set the connection as fixed IP there's no login options so doesn't connect.
I will soon need to use some of the fixed IPs so any help please.
regards MarkI have a connection similar to your PPPoE with multiple fixed addresses and it works fine on a RV320. When I setup the WAN port to connect, the ISP assigns a specific fixed address to the WAN to route all the other IPs through. It would almost have to be that way since the WAN port is typically not on the same subnet as the addresses that are routed. Even if the RV320 does see them as on the same subnet it will work either way.
I would start by resetting the 320 to factory default and run through the wizard. The main thing is to enter the PPPoE info in the WAN settings and the 320 should dial in and connect to your ISP. Then in order to use the fixed IPs, I would use One-to-One NAT to map each public IP to the corresponding private IP. The internet sees those machines as physically having the public address but they can be protected by the firewall access rules.
I have done this on several Cisco routers, including the RV320, and it worked fine. IF you are wanting to assign the public addresses to the machines by hard coding them with the address, that is another matter. The 320 will do that as well but it is a little trickier.
