  • Help in moving ODI to Production

    Hi,
I need help in migrating ODI from Development to Production.
The Development repositories point to the development work & master schemas.
The Production repositories point to the production work & master schemas.
I have setup the production repositories with different internal Ids.
The production's work repository is in Execution mode.
Now how do I go about importing the development scenarios into production?
Can somebody please give me step by step details?
    Thanks,
    Ruby

    Thanks for all your replies!
I intent to use the same Context in production.
Say for example my Logical Schema is TESTX that points to X schema in my development system. The physical schema is also TESTX.
All the scenarios in my development have the Logical schema as TESTX.
Now before I import these scenarios into Production system, I need to import Topology from Development into Production & change the data server of this Physical schema TESTX to point to the production schema right?
& after importing the Topology from Dev to Prod system, can I delete the data servers that are not needed to show up on production's Topology Manager?
    Thanks,
    Ruby

  • Minimum requirement of ODI app deployment

    Hi,
We have an ODI application in development environment with master repository, work repository, dataserver database source and target database, mapping and transformation rules and scenarios. It is working perfectly and we want to deploy it in production enivronment. We have following questions:
1.What is the minimum requirement to deploy ODI application in production environment ?
2.We need to install ODI in production environment as ODI whitepaper suggest.Do we need to import all repositories and scenarios from development environment respective export? Though scenarios are stored in the work repository.
    Thanks
    Brijendra

    Hi,
Do you have more than one option:
You can use production as context, it means, just create a production context (you can put a password on it) and then work at same repository that you are developing
    OR
Create a new WORK repository (I recommend a execution one) where you will import the scenarios generated in the development and have the production totally separated from development.
I believe that the necessary requirements are the same of development, take a look at the Installation Manual.
    Hope to have helped.

  • Deployment at production

    Hi,
    Source: MS SQL
    Targer: Oracle
    I am new to ODI
I have created one interface which loads the data from source('src_table') to target('trg_table'). Its working fine. Now I want to schedule this Interface( Which loads data on daily basis). How could i achieve this ?
After scheduling the Interface Want to deploy this interface at production.
    Deployment at Production :
    1) What are the basic requirements to deploy this(Project) on production machine ?
    2) Is there need to install ODI on production machine ?
    3) How to deploy existing created project in Production ?
Can anybody guide me step by step.
    Thanks in advance.
    Waiting..
    -Shrinivas

    Hi,
Create a scenario out of the interface or put that interface in a package and create scenario of that package.
Then you can schedule the scenario to run daily .
You need to have ODI installed at your production.
You can export scenario from dev and import that in prod.
    Thanks,
    Sutirtha

  • OWB vs ODI

    Hello to everybody!
In this days I'm testing the oracle data integrator as ETL (maybe I'd say ELT), first I've used OWB. According to me ODI is a better solution over OWB.
In ODI for example data quality it's more easy and more you haven't to care to save bad data in any table, ODI does that for you automatically.
    What do you think?

Since Feb 2009, Oracle has included the ODI base product and OWB's Enterprise ETL functionality in a single pricing bundle called ODI Enterprise Edition. The idea here is that with one license, you can implement either or both products.
To compare the functionality of each, one place to start would be to compare the data sheets.
    OWB data sheets at http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/warehouse/index.html
    ODI data sheets at http://www.oracle.com/products/middleware/odi/enterprise-edition.html
    Or blogs such as http://www.rittmanmead.com/2007/03/26/thoughts-on-oracle-data-integrator/
Btw, the ODI EE pricing bundle does not include other functionality such as data profiling or connecting to various applications. ODI and OWB have separate solutions for those and they still require separate licenses.
    Hope this helps,
    Michelle

  • ODI app deployment

    Hi,
After completion of ODI scenario, how can we deploy in the production system.
I know that I need to export and import into the production system.
But what all components I need to export-import?
And what components required on the production system(Do I need to install ODI on production system? If yes, Are all components required?? Should I create an agent ??)
    Kindly clarify

    Hi,
I guess you can try different paths -
    1. have your production and development under the same master repository. If you do this then your dev. env. will be a work repository and your production will possibly another work repository under the same master. In such case, you can simply export/import the scenarios to the production env. without much else to do.
    2. But, the above solution might not be accepted in many real life scenario. So, you need to install another ODI on a separate production box. You need to create a master repository in it and need to create the required dataservers in the topology. Now, you can run the imported scenarios from the Operator using a desired context.
    3. There can be other options where you will like to clone the dev. env. to the production env. and execute the ODI objects from there.
I am sure there are other combination as well.
    Thanks,

  • Error while importing the ODI Package from Development to Production Enviroment

    Hello Everybody,
Currently I'm face the problem when import ODI models (from Development) to Production environment
And the error show follwing error:
    ODI - 23040 Import file "C:/BIAPPS_Package/Models/XyZ.xml" error
    please help.

Do the user performing the import have permissions to import models to the production environment? I'd also mention that you would have a better setup if your production environment only held executables such as scenarios, load plans etc. and not development objects. It leads to better change control management and simplifies the migration process from DEV --> PROD

  • Plz point me on ODI documentation regarding production implementation ?

    Hi
First of all,i am very thankful to u for your kind reply.
i also need ODI Development Documentation for understanding the migration mechanism from Development to production Implementation.
    Hope for your reply.
    With Warm Regards,
    Ankush

    Hi ,
Export existing master- and work-repository in a dump-file using Oracle db export feature
Import the master- and work-repository into your new schema
Create a new connection to the imported master-repository when you connect to the Topology Manager in ODI
Create a new connection to the imported work-repository when you connect to the Designer manager in ODI
please see the below thread also.

I think the same process we will follow during the migration.
Hope it will helpful for you.

  • ODI is not a matured product

Document is poor. most tasks must be done manually. Who in this world nowadays like manual works.
If you are looking for books about ODI, there is none. That indicates low community adoption.
Oracle must do something to improve quickly or else just kill it to focus on other important stuffs. My impression is that ODI is at its early stage.

Thanks for making me laugh out loud.
So you have attended the Oracle University training on the product, or attended some training at all ?
I find ODI very easy to work with, very open for extending, scripting etc.. In certain situations it is far far quicker than OWB and Informatica, in others its not.
Thanks for your post though, its made my day!
You have checked out the Groovy scripting blogs to automate your 'manual' tasks then?
If Oracle kill it as you say, what would you have them focus on instead? You do know ODI and OWB are coming together to make two of the best ETL tools on the market even better?

  • How ODI is the best Product than OWB?

I have heard that Oracle is quoting ODI for high price where as OWB is free with Oracle Database..
What are the additional features ODI has when compared to OWB when OWB also supporting SOA,Webservices and EAI concepts?
Which one is the best among OWB and ODI..

    Hi Harmeet,
I hope its because ODI is an E-LT and OWB is ETL tools. As i said in the previous post E-LT approach needs less servers and provides good speed.
    Thanks,
    Guru

  • ODI Data Profiling and Data Quality

    Hi experts,
Searching about ODI features for data profiling and data quality I found (I think) many ... extensions? for the product, that confuse me. Cause I think there are at least three diferents ways to do data profiling and data quality:
In first place, I found that ODI has out of the box features for data profiling and data quality, but, acording to the paper, this features are too limited.
The second way I found was the product Oracle Data Profiling and Oracle Data Quality for Oracle Data Integrator 11gR1 (11.1.1.3.0) that is in the download page of ODI. Acording to the page, this product extends the existing inline Data Quality and Data profiling features of ODI.
Finally, the third way is Oracle Enterprise Data Quality that is another product that can be integrated to ODI.
I dont know if I understood good my alternatives. But, in fact, I need a general explanation of what ODI offer to do Data Quality and Data profiling. Can you help me to understand this?
    Very thanks in advance.

Hi after 11.1.1.3 version of ODI release, oracle no longer supports ODP/ODQ which is a trillium software product and this not owned by oracle. Oracle is recommending the usage OEDQ for quality purposes. It's better if you could spend time on OEDQ rather than trying to learn and implement ODP/ODQ in ODI

  • Issue while upgrading ODI 10g to 11g

    Hello Gurus,
I am upgrading repositories of ODI 10.1.3.5 to ODI 11.1.1.6 using Upgrade Assistant utility.
We have cloned/replicated the database repositories for ODI Master & Work.
After giving all details it checks for schema version registry, ODI version & succeeds.
but when I see the Target database details, the information like schema name, connection string about Work Repository is pointing to Production i.e. ODI 10.1.3.5 actual repository.
whereas it should show target details for replicated database.
What could be done to make it point to replicated?
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Santy.

    Hi Santy
    Change the work repository credentials, see post below;
