ODS:Export Generate Data Source

Can any one tell me why export generate data source is not suggestable for ODS.

hi Vasu,
generate export datasource for ods is done by system during the activation of the ods object after ods object created/modified. so we no need to manually do generate export datasource for ods like we do for infocube.

Hi Ryan,
You can't the generated data source from an ODS object, this is becasue ODS supplies delta from change log tables and the export data source / info-source structure should be same as of the change log table.
However you can change the generated data source-info source assignment of info-cube.

Creating a DBI Report with a Generated Data Source

Hi all,
I am on a customer site helping them to implement DBI.
We're using DBI Designer to create some Custom Reports.
We're interested in using Generated Data Sources in order to simplify handling of the complex Time Hierarchies implemented as standard within DBI (eg Rolling 30 days, Compare To Periods etc).
I've read the Metalink Note on how this should be achieved.
(Note 363529.1)
Unfortunately, we seem to be in a Catch 22 situation.
The note states that we need to have BSC v5.3 (or later !) installed.
The latest patch version of OBSC we can find is 5100729 (BSC.I.delta.12).
Our belief is that BSC.I is version 5.2 (incidentally, why do we have two naming/numbering "conventions" ?)
So two questions :
can we use generated data sources now, or do we have to wait for BSC 5.3 ?
when will BSC 5.3 be generally available ? (our customer uses HP/UX)

I am a newbie to DBI. Currently going through the documents DBI for Finanicials
and Payable.
We have to develope custom reports for Payables and Financials intelligence based on Oracle Reports . I would like to know if its possible or not because I read a thread on Forum ("How do you make a copy of an existing DBI report? ") in which it mentions that it is not possible to edit a standard report.
And if it is possible how to go for that ?

Error in generating data source from planning area

Hi experts! I have an error while making data source from planning area:
after the screen when i fill in the data source name (Window name: Generate export data source) i have the SYNTAX_ERROR Message:
Syntax error in program /sapapo/cl_im_extract_ex======cp
the main reason: the type /BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD is unknown
what you can suggest to solve this problem?

The reason is the program is trying to use the datatype '/BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD' which does not exist in the system.
Go SE11 to cross check if it exists. Check dataelement radiobutton -> enter /BI0/9A0IVWKNDGD -> Choose display option. You would need to create this datatype in the system. I feel there must some OSS Note related to this.
Search for an OSS Note. Raise one if you cannot find the relevant notes.

Generating data source for a planning area

Hi all,
I have a problem when generating a datasource for a planning area as it gives the following logs.
Activate table /1APO/EXT_STRUXXXXX
Tabble 1APO/EXT_STRUXXXXX was activated with warnings
and the data source is not being activated.
I have also created an entry in the table /SAPAPO/TSAREAEX and tried to activate the datasource for the planning area ,it is saying the datasource already exists.
Can anyone give me a straight solution for this.

Hi Satish,
After you generate the datasource, go to transaction /n/sapapo/sdp_extr and try doing a check on this datasource. If you still get those warning/error messages, try the Repair datasource option and see if it fixes the issue. In RSA1, replicate this datasource and then try activating it there and see if it works. Don't create an entry in the table /SAPAPO/TSAREAEX, as this is not a standard recommended way of doing it. Good luck

Short dump while generating data sources

I've created a source system for MSSQL database. Now, when I'm trying to Generate the Data Source from SQL into BW using 'Select database tables' option in the Source system and execute it for a table (SAMTEST) in the SQL database, the program terminates with a dump as follows.
Error in ABAP application program.
The current ABAP program "RSDL_META_UPLOAD" had to be terminated because one of
the
statements could not be executed.
This is probably due to an error in the ABAP program.
In program "SAPLRSDBC ", the following syntax error occurred
in the Include "LRSDBCO01 " in line 58:
"The field "RSDBC_C_RSADMIN" is unknown, but there are the following fi"
"elds with similar names: "RS_C_RSADMIN" and "RSDRO_C_RSADMINA"."
Author and last person to change the Include are:

Last changed by "SAP "                                                -
I think I've missed some custom settings to be done. I'm clueless. Can anyone help in this regard.

The attempt to load data from an external database results in a runtime error with a syntax error in the SAPLRSDBC program.

This is due to a program error.
The LRSDBCO01 include is inconsistent in the corrections of the currency translation for DB Connect in BW 3.5 Support Package 13. This results in the dump with a syntax error in the SAPLRSDBC program.

DB Connect --- Generate Data Source Error

Hi Bw Experts,
We are getting data from SQL via DB Connect. Recently they changed the name of a field in the View on which the data source was created. Now I am able to see the changed field Name in the data source via RSDBC. But this changed Field name is not getting in the Datasource/Trans structure. When I tried to generate the Data source I am getting the following error message Metadata 6DB_XXXX is inconsistent. Regenerate this DataSource
Pls let me know how can I get the changed changed Field name in to the Datasource/Trans structure . So that I can assign the Corresponding InfoObject to this field in the Transferrules.

ODS in Generic Data source?

Dear Friends,
I need to do a generi extraction from a view(2 tables). This is is a transactinal extraction.
How can I take a decision weather I have to build ODS or not. Because we know from. 3.x onwards, The delta is enabled for Generic. What is the other purpose to use the ODS in Generic...

A simple example
If you have a document that have 3 fields document number, material and quantity
and in R3 you change the material of one documento and load it to a infocube in BW infocube you would have 2 records one with old material and one with new material in this case the old document is not replaced with new one.....
In an ODS you use document number as key field and others are data fields........ if you change the material and load again in ODS this old document would bew replaced with new one and only new exists as active in ODS ......next you could load data from ODS to infocube
ODS is useful if you load data at document level....

Why Generated Data Source is available for ODS with out doing the Generate Export Data Source on ODS. But it is not available for Infocube.
Is it neccessory to do Generate Export Data Source for ODS.
But with out doing this we can also able to use the Generated Data Source.

Hi,
It is not needed to generate the "export datasource" on ODS again as it automatically creates one. Yes u can use the generated one with out manually generating it.
To see the generated datasource , RSA1->Modelling->Infosources.
From trhe menu click on Settings -> Display generated objectes-> select "show generated ODS objects". Then you can find ur generated datasource on ODS.

I have situation :
Data deleted in ODS, data coming from the data source : 2LIS_11_VASCL.
when for the above ods and the data source when trying to delete the request whole data got delted.
All the data got deleted in the fore ground. no background job has been generated for this.
I ma really worried abt this issues. can u please tell me what should be the possibilities for this issue.

Hi,
I suppose you want to know the possibilitiy of getting the data.
If the entire data is being deleted, you can reload the data from source system.
Load the setup table for your application. Then carry out init request.
Please note that you would have to take a transaction-free period for carrying out this activity so that no data is missed.
Once this is done, delta queues will again start filling up.

How to send data from 4 different data sources to one ODS

Hello Gurus,
There is a transaction called KSB1 in R/3.
It has data related to cost center , cost element, G/L .
In BI, i need to transfer the data from these Data sources to one ODS.
Can any body give me some idea.

Hi Rupa..
In your requirement some data sources (Cost centre, Cost element) are master data sources.
They are available as info Objects in BI (Content).
So there is no need to create ODS on these.
But the general scenario for creating ODS from multiple data sources in case of Transaction documents
Like :
PO header, PO line items...
For this the Pre-requisite is to have common fields between these data sources (eg PONo).

Problem while generating classification data-sources

Hi ,
I have one classification data-source 1CL_OVEN001 which is based on vendor master data and class type 10. I tried to added one field in this data-source . while generating data-source, I got some error like " Extractor can not be generated".
Then I searched on SAP site and got one note 1946309 . When I implemented this note and tried to generated data-source. Now I am getting another error.
"EXTRACT STRUCTURE IS NOT PERMITTED"
I have tried with several note but getting same error.

Error generic data source for table VBAK in SAP R/3 7.01

When I was trying to create generate data source(RSO2) from table VBAK. The system replies that
Invalid extract structure template VBAK of Data Source ZSD_SALES
You tried to generate an extract structure with the template structure VBAK. This operation failed, because the template structure quantity fields or currency fields, for example, field ZZLFAMT refer to a different table.
Use the template structure to create a view or DDIC structure that does not contain the inadmissable fields.

Hi,
use 2lis_11_vahdr instead.
But in addition, you need to create a view on vbak and the reference table/s of the keyfigure units, add the unit fields as well as all fields of vbak to the view and use the view for the generic datasource instead of the table.

Error in activating data source

I'm facing error when generating data source stating "THE OLTP SOURCE STILL HAS ERRORS"
when i activate my structure in "se11" it is activating .
