ODS Rollback tables post upgrade
Hi All,
We are currently upgrading our BW system from SAP BW 3.5 to BI 7.0. After upgrade, we noticed the roll back tables of ODS are missing. However, we are able to load data in the ODS and view them. Could you suggest any way to re-create these roll back tables?
Even if you are doing the plugin upgrade you don't have to delete the delta queues. Not sure who recommended you this, now that you have deleted it, you are basically stuffed, got no choice and have to re-initialize all the delta capable extractors of which ever applications you are using. And you probably know what to do.
For your future reference, when you upgraded your r/3 system or the plugins to newer versions, then all you have to do
1) SM13 updates are empty, delta queues are empty 'rsa7' or to be more precise the outbound queues for your BW system (smq1).
2) ensure that all the collective update jobs are cancelled so that they don't fill up the delta queues for both queued delta and unserialized deltas.
3) Lock all users (both dialogue & non-dialogue), specifically if you use workflows, which can get triggered (depending upon how they are configured).
The basic idea is to stop all activities which can directly or indirectly fill up the delta queues, extraction queues or sm13.
Once this is empty you can start your plugin upgrade.

Change Log issues - Post Upgrade
Hi Experts,
We are in the process of Upgrading BW from 3.X to BI 7. As part of this we copied our existing Production system into the sand box and basis did the technical upgrade on the same (Sand Box). Later we ran some post upgrade Jobs as part of the SAP defined Upgrade Process.
1) But after the upgrade i can notice that most of the ODS objects, doesn't have 'Change Log' table in the 'Information (Log/Status)' screen.
2) Even when i try to view the change log content in Manage screen, it gives me a pop up to enter the change log table, instead of directly taking me to the selection screen.
3) When i try to activate a request, even that fails with an SQL error 'SAPSQL_EMPTY_TABNAME'.
Is there any process that has to be run to link the Older version change log tables to the corresponding ODSs after Upgrade?
Has anyone come accross similar issues? If yes, how was it solved? All suggestions are invited.

Chek the note : 1059171 which is related to Change log,
I too faced this issue when upgraded to Bi7.0 on SP12, but as soon as SP13 is installed the issue is solved, so I suggest to go for SP 13 for upgrading to Bi7.0.

1. Only super user can access this /n/ASU/START
2. All the obligatory executable tasks are automatically performed by the system automatically during upgrade. SAPADM. Only errors (if any) are to be corrected.
3. Some of the tasks are only to go through some SAP notes as a precaution before upgrade.
4. Execute all the checks /n/ASU/UPGRADE
5. This surely can be skipped, but not advisable.

Post-upgrade tasks for OWB 10g Release 2

we're planning to upgrade from OWB 10.1.0.2 to 10.2.x.
Now, I'm trying to get a clear view on what will be the "post-upgrade" tasks, in terms of manual adaptations, corrections, etc. to get everything back up and running after the upgrade ...
E.g. : by means of test al already exported a dimension, and imported it in the 10.2 repository ... Turned out that in the pre-10.2 version, there were no validation problems, but as from 10.2 (although the upgrade and import were successful), I got 19 warnings and 2 errors ... because each level needs to have a business or surrogate key ...
It' s things like that I'm especially interested in, in order to determine the workload after the upgrade ...
So, feel free to share your experiences ; I'm looking forward to read them!

Grtz.Here are some from my list. I stopped maintaining it a while ago, we have lots more where this came from. Some of it also apply to older versions of OWB.
Key lookup You are to choose input and output attributes BEFORE being able to choose loookup table, all in a time consuming wizard
Expressions Copy and paste into expression editor, validation fails for expressions using lowercase (such as "upper" or "substr")
Renaming attributes Not possible anymore, you need to open details
Adding a table component You must browse in a tree structure (time consuming), not search functionality anymore
Import Import converting from 9.2 hangs after 15% in about 10% of all imports
Import Some mappings are not possible to import, a total rewrite is necessary
Deployment You can only deploy about 5-10 times before you need to restart OWB
Memory leak If something goes wrong in OWB, memory is never cleared - JAWAW.exe needs to be removed manually from memory
Import Importing mappings one by one (as this is sometimes needed due to OWB), the last directory used is OF COURSE not default when importing the next time
OWB GUI / mapping editor When working with components in the mapping editor, an object hidden behind the object you are actually working with is selected prior to the object in visual focus to the user

Before you continue, be sure all the concurrent programs generated by the upgrade

how do i know which request are clean by cmclean In the same session you will find the list of table that are updated by cmclean.sql script along with the request ids.

FORM_TRIGGER_FAILUER does a Rollback of posted data

How can i stop execution a trigger code with RAISE FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE but not to ROLLBACK the posted data?
I posted the data in a second form which is called via CALL_FORM from the start-form which raises now the FORM_TRIGGER_FAILURE.
Before the second (called) form was exited a POST was made.

When this occurs, Form Builder aborts the trigger and performs the appropriate post-failure processing. The specific processing that Form Builder performs depends on the type of trigger that failed.
The following table shows the post-failure processing for three types of triggers:
Trigger Type Result of Trigger Failure
Key - * (any key trigger) Trigger failure is ignored.
Pre-Item Form Builder attempts to return input focus to the source item.
On-Insert Form Builder rolls back all database changes posted by the current commit process and attempts to navigate to the first item in the current record of the block in error.
When-Validate-Item Item validation fails. Form Builder sets the error location. When possible, input focus is returned to the source item.
When a trigger fails, Form Builder tries to undo any conditions that would cause a runtime error as a result of the trigger's failure.
For example, the Pre-Item trigger fires when Form Builder attempts to move the input focus from a source item to a target item. When a Pre-Item trigger fails, navigation cannot be completed successfully, so Form Builder returns the input focus to the source item.
Similarly, when a commit processing trigger such as On-Insert fails, Form Builder performs the appropriate rollback to ensure data integrity. -

Post upgrade I accidentally packaged an EAR without above references in application.xml and without actual jars in the EAR file. The application seemed to be running fine, did not test it completely though. Do we really need these jar files? I had upgraded this application from 8.1 to 10.3 using upgrade tool in workshop. This is a portal based web application. Also, what is the purpose of these libraries? Could these be automatically added by the upgrade tool to the weblogic.xml.Hi Srini,

1:Identify all the JARs that contain the beehive classes and explicitly add the jar files to the classpathOPTION
2:When you created the domain (if you used the Config Wizard), do you make it a "Workshop" domain? If not, try that.That should deploy the Workshop framework (Beehive controls, NETUI, etc) libraries as shared libraries. Then these libraries should be referenced in your applications weblogic.xml and weblogic-application.xml.

One Job is failing every day
The name of the JOB is BI_WRITE_PROT_TO_APPLLOG
And the Job log is

when i try to run this program with my user id its working
but with the other user id which it is schedule its failing giving the messages as mentioned in the job log

Upgraded my iTunes to the latest version and upgraded my iPhone 3gs to IOS5. Unable to sync my iPhone with iTunes after upgrade and is getting stuck on Step1. I am running my iTunes on Windows Vista PC and have tried the solution of netsh winsock reset and still no luck.
Also, I am not able to see any of my music on the phone post upgrade, but it shows on iTunes. Again not sure on how to make it appear on my phone. Any help would be much appreciated!!

Tried to restore, remake playlist, delete every tracks et put them back. Same prob.

Why is Mountain Lion not downloading?
I am new (literally as of today) to mac....it's been sitting in launchpad and it says it's downloading but it's been like that for over three hours not loading a single bit.... I've tried restarting my computer and re-starting the download once but t
