ODS Vs Universe

HI All,
We have three DSOs :
DSO 1 - Delta ( Order Line Item)
DSO 2 - Full load (Deliv line item)
DSO3 - Delta ( Billing line item)
My requirement is : I want to combine all these and run combinational reports..using BO UNIVERSE..
I can create three bex queries using DSOs for reporting at BI level.
Questions:
1.
is it possible to create a UNIVERSE on a BEx qry? If yes, please expain how...
2.
is it possible to create a UNIVERSE on a DSO? If yes, please expain how...
3.
Shall I create three universe in Business Objects using on these three DSOs? If yes, please expain how...

SAP Business Objects Universes can use a BEx Query Designer query, InfoCube or MultiProvider as a source. These are the only two possibilities at this time, until SAP Business Objects comes out with USL (Universal Semantic Layer). Here's a good step-by-step for creating a Universe sourced by a BEx query:

Sourcing a Universe from a DSO isn't possible at this time. As stated before, only a BEx query, InfoCube or MultiProvider can source a Universe until the reslease of USL.

If these DSOs are distinct sets of data, you will have to either create a BEx query on each DSO and ensure that all of the Characteristics and Key Figures are made available in the query rows and columns, or you could create a MultiProvider with one DSO in each. If the data can be unioned, then a MultiProvider would be your best solution.

Universe1 + Universe2 +Universe3 = Universe4 = generate combinational reports..
When you create your Web Intelligence reports (assuming that's your UI for reporting since you're using Universes), you can create separate queries in the Web Intelligence report, each based on the separate Universes, and then join the data together in the reporting portion. Otherwise, you might be better off creating a MultiProvider in BW with the DSOs and then sourcing a single Universe with the MultiProvider (this would be much simpler and easier to maintain - multi-Universe reports are very inefficient and difficult to maintain at times).

Data Federator ODS Problem

Hi All,
I´m building a scenario in SAP BO Data Federator where we connect to a table in BW (ODS) and with a jdbc connector we get the data to build a universe in UniDesigner.
The problem is that the data returned by data federator doesnt match the data in BW, we always get less records in Data Federator when we perfom the query in data federator query tool.
Can anyone give a clue whats happening and where to start looking? we already did a trace in BW (ST05) and the SQL statement seems to be right.

But do you know how to correct the following error:
For Goodwill Data two indices are created which are completely identical. This leads to an error. How to solve this problem?

View data in ODS

BW Experts,
I have a new ODS and have loaded data in it. When I rt click on the ODS and choose manage and then if I want to see the contents of the ODS I am getting the following error.
<b>System error: RSDRC / FORM AUTHORITY_CHECK USER NOT AUTHORIZED ZSD_O01 ZSD_O01
Message no. DBMAN100
Diagnosis
A system error with the following parameters has occurred in the data manager:
Parameter 1 = &v1&
Parameter 2 = &v2&
Parameter 3 = &v3&
Parameter 4 = &v4&</b>
However, I can still see my data through my active data table tab.
Any thoughts on why I am getting this error when I want to see it directely through manage ods?

Hi Ashwin,
Is the ODS enabled for reporting? I came across a similar situation recently and it was because I did not have the auth for data access for that particular ODS. I could look at the data through SE16 and the active data table, but not if I did a LISTCUBE for it.
After it was added to a role and assigned, the error message was removed. (Auth object: S_RS_ODSO)

I want to build a report in which I need to show "Open PR and Open PO" but I could not locate these fields in the BW CUBE / ODS / DATASOURCES. Can anybody tell me where I can find these fields..........

There is no specific standard data source is not available to fetch us "Open PO" or "Open PR". first vll talk about PO.
For open PO,
case - 1
         Need to report count of all PO's which are in open status.
Case-2
        Need to report TBQ ( to be delivered Qty ) against each over due PO.
Basically we have - EKKO - HEADER , EKPO - ITEM AND EKET - SCHEDULE LINE ( GRC - GOODS RECEIVED ) is available,
so create a view, take all these three tables EKKO, EKPO and EKET.

Logic - create a generic DS, by view, FIRST send the data to DSO, there mention a field like TDQ ( to be deliver qty ), TDQ = po qty - goods received qty. -
create a cube above DSO, set a filter, allow only those records who has TDQ <>0, so your cube contains only pending PO.

I bought Aperature and PS from a university store, not under my apple username, now it won't let me update it to work with Yosemite because it isn't hooked to my username. how do i fix it and get the upgrade

A few years ago or so i bought Aperture and Photoshop (the whole kit and caboodle) from a university subsidized store (my husband worked there and buying programs like those two, the whole Microsoft office Suite, all kinds of things) at a very significant discount, i think we paid 25$ for Photoshop vs the 400$ it was selling for on the open market.
Yesterday i upgraded most of my laptops to Yosemite (one of them I'm sure was the one that had Aperture on it, a 17in MacBookPro, its about 2 years old now, but at the time i bought it it was the highest computer apple had on the regular floor, I'm sure i could have added some stuff to customize it for extra, but basically we are talking top of the line computer. I recently just required a 2012 MackBook Air with also fairly heavy specs from a family member that was upgrading (I'm not sure why, i know they couldn't possibly be using this thing for anything beyond its capacity, its basically new, and they aren't 3D animation rendering and needed a "quicker" one).
I was very happy with the upgrade, and now it does work much more seamlessly with my iPads and my iPhone, but the whole reason i uploaded it was to work on pictures, adjust them, change the size and then print them out to include in jewelry, and Yosemite won't let me use Aperture at all, when i click to upgrade it (in the bar all it has basically old icon with a (no sign or ghost busters like sign over it) i click on it and it says, you did not buy this with your apple account name and i could not upgrade it. But it just made me click ok, and did not give me any info on how to upgrade it. i do physically own it, or my husband does, I'm not sure to whom it is registered, but sholdnt i still make it able to work with this new operating system, even if not through regular "software updates" it used to always be asking me to upgrade "word" and i got that in the same way, so what is the issue and what do i do to get it to work on this new system?

Wow that was really quick, thank you so much. Im not sure at all which version it was because i said it was around 4 years ago he bought it. I know it isn't under his username, since he's a PC person (ugh) so i know its probably registered to one of our actual names. isn't there some way to look it up since we did register it, because I'm not even sure where the disks are from when we bought it (we've moved a lot and also have two storage lockers, i know i would have kept it with other disks) but my cd rom drive is actually broken on my computer as well ( i think it got stepped on and is now squished and won't eject or run disks.)
So is there anyway they can look up that its registered to one of our names since we did register it when we bought and installed it, or do i really have to find the disk with some sort of proof of purchase (i know there would be no receipt after all this time)
either way, ill do what you suggested to the best of my abilities and thank you so much for answering my questions, i can't even open the program as its incompatible and find out the info from that) so I'm in a bit of a pickle and your response was so thorough and it didn't seem to be posted long enough to even write a well researched response, thanks, all the best,

Month Sorting at Universe Level

Hi All,
We have created a Universe on BEx query to develope an BO Explorer.
We are having Sorting problem with Fiscal Period values, which is in Character type.
So need some clarification on below queries..
Q: Can we change the Fiscal Period datatype from Character to Number?
I think it will give an error if we change the datatype
Q: Can we add preceding zeros for 1 to 9 months?
I used below MDX expression for testing purpose,
<EXPRESSION>IIF([0FISCPER3].[LEVEL01]="1",1,2)</EXPRESSION>
But it is always giving me the else part only.
If I replace the dimension with Measure then the above expression is working fine.
Q: Can we use Concatination Operator for adding preceeding zeros for periods 1 to 9?
Q: Can we apply any transformations on Dimenstion fields?
Environment details:
BO 4.1 SP3
UDT 4.1 SP3

Hi Ann, it is always helpful to have a dim_time table in your data mart where you have these 2 fields (among others):
month_number     month_full_name
     1          January
     2         February
and so on...
Then you can put something like the following SQL in your derived table called "MONTH"....
select distinct month_number, month_full_name
from dim_time
order by 1
Create a dimension object, says, "month_lov". Go the Properties tab, click "Edit", then "SQL". In the query panel, put in something like this...
select month.month_full_name
from
(select distinct month_number, month_full_name
from dim_time
order by 1) month
Make sure you check "Do not generate SQL before running", then click "OK" and "Save and Close". Then create a condition object to point to this LOV. You should be able to get the months listed in the real order.

Error while creating a BO Universe (using IDT) on top of SAP HANA Calculation View with Input Parameters

We are trying to create a Universe (using IDT-Version4.0) on top of the HANA Calculation view. The Calculation view has 4 input parameters, So
in Universe side we have created the respective prompts. For the creation of derived table we have used the following code

Hello George,
I don't have any personalization set on the info space. Also I am using mapped Account in BI to connect to HANA. The confusing part is that it is able to validate the infospace with the input parameters and index it. However query does not return any results. I even tried running the same query which explorer sends to HANA in the SQL editor and there too the same results,the query does not return anything. The model does return data when I do a data preview and if accessed from other tools like AAO.
Also when I use SSO connection to HANA, indexing of the infospace fails. Where can I see the error log?

Error while activating ODS Object

Hi,
I have loaded the data from R/3 to a ODS Object and the activation of ODS failed due to the following errors as shown below..
-Value '20060 ' of characteristic 0CALQUARTER is not plausible
-Error when assigning SID (details in long text)
-Activation of data records from ODS object ZODS_02 terminated
-Error getting SID for ODS object ZODS_02
I could see that Calendar Quarter as 20060 in PSA. How should i get rid of this error. Any idea would be appreciated.

you are getting this calender qurter from SAP right... check in RSA3 fro the your Datasource. if you are getting same value like '20060'. you can do one thing... you can set 'No Update' in Transfer Rules. you can write a routine in Update Rules for populating the data for calender Week.
you can call some standard function modules or you can write a small routine. If you want to write a routine check this thread...Re: Date to Quarter
Possibilites:
1. updtae rules
2. if RSA3(PSA) shows the value of the Quarter as '20050', if it is custom extractor(Generic using FM) you can change this.
3. If it is Standard Extractor or Generic Extractor (using either view/table or Infoset) you can enhance this. you can do the same thing in SAP Side.

The problem is with ur Source Sys connection..
Above problems will be solved by restoring Source System Connection... Ask your Basis team to restore SS.

It seems like while updating few records may be no in the format of the field in which it is updated.

Login Failed error while creating a CR using Universe

Hi,
We created an Universe in SAP Business Objects system using SAP BW as source system and we selected sales cube for the universe.
For ex universe name is : xyz
Now i want to use this universe in crystal reports, we are using CR2008.
I logged in to Crystal Reports>Blank Report>Create New Connection>Universes>selected xyz universe and i got the keyfigures and chars in query panel for the selected universe, dragged and dropped some chars and kf's in to result objects.
After this when we click Ok it is giving an error message saying that Login Failed
We are unable to get the solution for this anybody please guide us to solve this.

Error while resetting the delta in ODS (BI 7.0)

I face a problem in delta resetting...need your help... Thanks..
I have an ODS-1 which has target cube1, cube2, cube3....One week back a new target has been added as ODS-2....All complete data from ODS1 has been piped into ODS 2..(Note.. ODS2 has many more inputs from other cubes/ODS too)
NO issues till now....
I found a data problem in ODS-1 which got loaded 15 days back..... I have removed all 15 requests from cube1, cube2 and cube3... Now I am trying to reset the delta in ODS1...
I am getting the following error....Infoprovide ODS2 still contains request... Delete this first....
Since ODS2 has many other data alongwith ODS1... If I try deleting request from ODS2,, I need to clean it totally and redo... I dont want to do this...
Is there any way to disconnect this delta link between ODS1 - ODS2..... So that I will reload the data in ODS1 and populate into all targets...

I dont think you can disconnect the link. just delete the requests originating from ODS1 in ODS2 and you can leave all other requests intact that are from other dataproviders and do a reinit.

try to activate InfoSource and later delete data.
Check if all ODS related objects are consistent and active.

Hi All,
I had deleted one request from four ODS's before completely loaded from R/3. Now when i am trying to activate from one of them using process chain it is giving me the error massage "Request No longer Exist in ODS".
But when i am manually activating this it is not giving me any error.
Please suggest solution for the same.

Before deleting the request make QM status red and then delete.

Already you have deleted the request. How can you activate the same request?
Have you loaded the data again?
