ODS with many keys helpful for reporting ?

Hello BW Experts,
When you have a lot of data in the ODS.
1) If we have more keys in the ods does it help us in the reporting point of view ?
2) does it help in the datamart loading. i.e loading from this ods to any other data target
3) does it help in the loading data to this ods.
Please share your views.

Its better to have secondary indices on ODS, if you can run away from ODS Reporting.
I think having number of keys might not hurt loading to ODSm but you need to have proper design on selecting Keys Fields. This unique combination dectates how many records can be added from the transfered records.
No comments on Datamart loading in case of Base ODS with more keys.

Issue with Varchar2 field conversion for report output generated in EXCEL

Hello All,
I have an unique problem with one of my new reports for the User. The user wants the report output generated in excel data only(delimited data) format *(reports builder 10g)* .
Everything was fine until i encountered this problem, there was this field which has unique ID's(alphanumeric and numeric), when i tried to run the report and generate output in Excel the numeric ID's say for example *(41593497999679354429)* is converted in excel and displayed like *(2.5881E+19)* and after format cells in excel it displays *(41593497999679300000).*
The issue is only with 20 digits numeric ID's , if i append any special character to the end say '#' or '..' it shows the exact value along with the appended character. But the user insist they need only the value that is in the table. I am finding it hard to figure out, if any one of you have encountered the same issue or if any of you have any suggestions to overcome this excel conversion thing please do advice me.

Thanks for you response, but i already tried what you suggested, instead of appending single quote in front of ID, i did at the end prior with '#', it preserves the value if i add any character to the id but the appended value shows up too :(.
Well, i just got the solution and it did work, thanks to [Brian Hill|https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=651632] for the post, i did what exactly he said and it worked. I was so very happy and wanted to share with everyone.

T510 - No label with product key numbers for Windows 7

I just noticed that my T510 does not have the Product key numbers for the installed OS (Windows 7 64-bit), which I find quite strange. My previous three T machines, both from IBM and Lenovo, all have those labels n the back.
What is going on and what are the possible implications?

Now i have data in the cube as follows...

when i execute the report it shd ask the prompts with Date interval as in the below...
HR INTW date
LM INTW DATE
TEL INTW DATE
if i dont give any interval in the variable prompt it should display all the recors as follows

a2               1                  1                     1
a3               1                   1             1
If i give LM INTW DATE interval as    01.01.2010 to 31.02.2010
then it should display all the other counts as in the output_1 , but for LM count for a3 it should show 0.

that means wherever i restrict the data depending on the variable that only that interval key figure value shd be in the report..
for this scenario, which variable i need to use... and how i need to restict the KFig value in the report...
Right now i am getting like this but it is restricting the records,,, where it should not restrict the records...in the report..
Please guide me for the same...
If any concerns about the scenario please let me know...

Is there any facility that can preserve the report layout when I want to generate the report, because every time I generate the report I can't preserve the last layout.

Hi,
In the transaction OAOR, you should be able to insert your company Logo.
GOTO - OAOR (Business Document Navigator)
Give Class Name - PICTURES Class Type - OT..... then Execute
It will show you the list, then select ENJOYSAP_LOGO.
On that list, you will find one control with a "create" tab.
Click std. doc types.
Select SCREEN and double-click.
It will push FILE selection screen.
Select your company logo (.gif) and press OK.
It will ask for a description- for instance: "company logo".
It will let you know your doc has been stored successfully.
You can find your logo under ENJOYSAP_LOGO->Screen->company logo.
Just run your ALV program, you should find your company logo in place of the EnjoySAP logo.

Problem with displaying key figures in report

Does anyone have experience with SAP Report Designer for Release 7.0. I want to display key figures in the following manner: 1'500 (Which means 1.500.000) For a billion the value displaye should be 1''000 (1.000.000.000).
1000 =     1.000
0'010 =     10.000
0'100 =     100.000
1'000 =     1.000.000
0''010 =     10.000.000
0''100 =     100.000.000
1''000 =     1.000.000.000
Thus the report always shows 4 digit figures. The problem is that I don't know how to include the apostophe as a separator for the million.
Additionaly to that I want to have the font changed to a smaller number, if the figure is to large for the column. Is there a possibity to change the display of the figure with the scaling? And is there a possibility to change the font? These two parameters have to be decided when running the report. (The scale of the numbers can differ within one column.)

there is two way to display the values , one is globally, where u do it the keyfigure and another way is on the query designer level
in keyfigure go to aggregation , there u will get the number display format , u can change there and another way is in the query designer right click on the key figure and select properties and select display format

i have installed sqlplus and developer forms with different homes but know i iwant to install reports in my pc how can i install should i use the same home that one i used for forms or i should create a new home and then attach it with reports

when you install Oracle Forms, Oracle Reports is installed to. Even with earlier versions I cannot remember that it was possible to install one without the other (because they share the same library files).
Under no circumstances should Forms and Reports be installed into teh database home (exception is older Forms and Reports releases - before Forms 6i - that must be installed in thr default Oracle Home)

Need help For report RSVTPROT

Hello all,
there is a standard report RSVTPROT which i need to convert into an ALV only for table T000.i am working on release 4.7 in which ALV display is not possible but for ECC6.0 SAP provided ALV option.but also i cannot copy paste the SAP code from ECC6.0 because they have implemented so many standard classes and other things which are out of my scope to define..
did anybody does this kind of development if yes please hellllllllllppppppp......i am not able to do coding for it.......

Hope I did not post to the wrong place. but I really need help here. I've been using Crystal Report all these while before I tried out java. However, there is a problem here.
I've been doing some complex reports that comes with subreports and grabing values from the program. but there is no one program that i found can really support the reporting in java. I've even tried the crystal clear and Jbuilder enterprise trial version (which comes with crystal report). but I still can't get the output that I want.
So, I'm here to ask :
1. what sort of reporting system r u using that is recommended?
2. And if I were to continue supporting crystal report where can I get a better component that supports crystal report ?
3. And where can I get tutorials for java integration with crystal reports?

Also check out i-text. It's an open source Java -> PDF tool. You will need to write a mapper to go from JDBC ResultSet to your own custom Java class. Otherwise, it is almost like writing HTML programatically.

Subject : Problem with Virtual key figures for one scenario.

Hi Gurus,
I have implemented Virtual Keyfigures for my Bex report and it is working perfectly bUt for one scenario.
If i give PLANT and MATERIALS in the selection , The report calaculates the Virtual
keyfigure value correctly But if i give Only PLANT
and NO Materials ( A single plant can have 700 materials also!!), The report executes and after sometime
gives me a messsage " Disconnecting from Server"
I executed the report in RSRT . It gives me this error "exception with the type CX_SY_ARITHMETIC_OVERFLOW occurred"
Since the Virtual keyfigure doesnot use Cache memory. Is it restricted by the Physical memory?. How to overcome this
problem?
Please let know if anyone faced this issue and resolved It. Any help or guidance is really appreciated.

Ok, I fiured it all out, the other way you mentioned. Just opened up the character MC, and named 2 frames. One LEFT and one RIGHT. Then I added a few simple lines of code, and turned out with this:

Issue with saving SAP& variant for report as per OSS note 1885125

Hi,
I'm implementing OSS note 1885125 and it instructs me to adjust several SAP& variants:
The variants of the report RSUSR070 (SAP&_AUTH, SAP&_CHANGE, SAP&_PROFIL, SAP&_STANDARD,
SAP&_TRANSAKT, SAP&_VALUES)
must be adjusted.
Call transaction SE38 for the report RSUSR070 in the client 000. Change the values for the relevant
variants. On the selection screen, choose "+" ("All Selections" (Ctrl+F7)):
l Select the "All Roles Irrespective of User Assignment" radio button.
For the variant SAP&_BENU, you must select the "With Valid Assignment Of" radio button.
If the variants are protected, run the report RSVARENT for each variant."
Now I'm in client 000 and I can unprotect the variants with report RSVARENT, but then SAP tells me that SAP& is the SAP name space, and that I need to create new variants. So it doesn't let me save these. The whole point of the OSS note requesting the SAP& variants to be adjusted is because they are using in SAP standard transaction codes:

In RSA1 ->Transport Connection, yes, I can see the Source System objects.
In the Source System objects, I have selected the ECC source system and dropped it to the right panel.
Now I can a list of Datasource and Transfer Rules there.
1) Does it mean these are all the source system related objects?
I then create the normal transport request to capture all the objects. And release the Transport.
2) Now how can I export this transport?
What I try to do is to delete the existing SAP Source System. Create the new SAP Source System, then import back all the source system related objects...... so that my existing data model will not disappear after deleting and creating the new SAP Source System.
Is the following steps correct?
1) Collect all the Source System related objects and capture in Transport.
2) Release and export the Transport (but how?)
3) Delete the SAP Source System
4) Create new SAP Source System
5) Import the existing SAP Source System related objects (but how?).

Query Help for reporting on last receipt qty

I am looking for some help devising a command behind a crystal report. We are hoping to achieve the last receipt quantity. To arrive at this we would like it to get the last GRPO for an item and total the quantity on that particular GRPO. In addition to this, we want to consider all the lines on the document and SUM them.
At present, the query I have is as follows:
Select SUM(c0.Quantity) from PDN1 c0 WHERE c0.ItemCode = T1.ItemCode AND Shipdate = (select Max(ShipDate) from PDN1 C0 INNER JOIN OPDN c1 ON c0.DocEntry = c1.DocEntry where C0.Itemcode =T1.ItemCode AND c1.DocStatus <> 'C'))

Problem with custom search help for std SD_DEBI

Hi,
I have created a custom zcustom search help and included in std search help SD_DEBI.
In the custom serach help i have added the fields ktokd and sales area fields(sales org, Disb channel, division).
now when i goto va01 transaction and hit F4 for sold to party i was able view the KTOKD and sales area fields in the custom tab
when i select the values from f4 help and hit enter they are not getting displayed in sold to party field.
when i select only sales area fields from f4 and press enter they are getting displayed in sold to party field.
problem is with the ktokd field that i have included.
Any suggestions please let me know

I think you have missed parameter assignment from your Z append search help to standard search help.
Select the search help and click on Param Assignment button and assign the refernece parameter(KUNNR) of your
append search help to std collective search help (KUNNR).
