ODSEE11g / DSEE7 Password Policy from DS6 Mode back to DS5 compatible mode
Hello all,
I am currently working on a migration from DSEE7 to OUD(Oracle Unified Directory). Oracle's documentation states that to do this migration, you will need to be running in DS6 mode. I made that change.
dsconf pwd-compat to-DS6-migration-mode
then
dsconf pwd-compat to-DS6-mode
I have discovered that if you want to go from DSEE7 to OUD, you actually need to be in DS5 compatible mode. There is a bug in OUD replication gateway that creates a password policy using DS5.
How would you revert from DS6mode to DS5 compatible mode?
I have tried to run the commands backward and that was not successful.

You are right, it is not possible to revert to the original "ds5.2" password policy mode.
The documentation is right.
The ds2oud tools used to migrate the configuration and schema to OUD requires the ds6 password policy mode.
Unfortunatelly, in 11.1.1.5.0, the replication gateway setup creates a password policy in 'ds5.2' mode which is refused by a server running in ds6 mode.
I see 2 options here :
- contact your Oracle support representative to get a patch
- redeploy a fresh temp DSEE 11gR1 master server (by default in ds5.2 password policy mode), enable replication but dont create any replication agreement, run the replication gateway setup between that server and the OUD instance, then switch to ds6migration and ds6mode. At that stage the odsee config contains a few entries that would need to be copied manually to your original DSEE server.
Please tell me the preferred option as the description of the workaround would require a detailed post.

Custom Password Policy Settings
Hello Friends,
I am doing the server practical in virtual environment and wish to set a normal password for the test user "Robert Garcia" so I disabled the password policy requirement in the gpmc.msc under "Default Domain Policy" and then did a gpupdate
so that I can set a password as garcia for the user robert but it did not work. I did a system reboot then also it did not work.
I did the same thing for the Default Domains Controller Policy option and still it is not working .
What should be the correct method to disable this as I am in a test environment and simply want to keep simple passwords. Is there any requirement for system reboot or gpupdate should work and what could be the reason here that it is not working in either of
the case??

I noticed that I can't set a number as a password say 65789867 but when I disable the things in default domain policy then I can set the password but still not the simple text garcia so what I need to edit and where now.
Also if I need to enable a password policy like the first letter should be capital etc etc then where I can do this customization of password policy
I can set a normal text as password but not the user's last name as password where I can change this customization. I understand that in production environment its not suggested but just in case where to do the customization??

In my testing environment, gpupdate is enough to make the policy changes taking effects.
Here are a few suggestions for you:
Please make sure that the Default Domain Policy is
link enabled.
Other than the Password must meet complexity requirements setting, please also disable other ones like Enforce password history, Minimum password length.
If there is any password policy setting set as
Not Defined in Default Domain Policy, please check password policy from
Local Security Policy, in which settings could override the Not Defined ones.

You may need to develop scripts to achieve this goal.

Hi,
I use the password policy from Zenworks for Handhelds. The small keyboard
on the device is too small so I'll have to use the stylus. Also some
devices (Htec TyTn) have a physical keyboard and most of all I need the
keyboard to tick in my password. I use both my hands for this. Please
change the loginscreen with big numbers/letters, so I can give in my
password with one hand. (Like the softwareproduct Afaria has it. You could
add the functionality to add letters to it)

When I first got my MacBook Pro my wireless network at home (Linksys Wireless Router) popped right up and I entered the password and had no problems automatically connected after that. I went to a friends house this weekend who also has a wireless router named Linksys, obviously with a different password. Ever since I connected to her network I have to enter my network password at home everytime I start my computer up or wake it up from sleep mode.
My questions is what caused this to happen and how do I reconfigure my network settings so that I don't have to re-enter my password all the time?

My password works fine when I turn the computer on, but when I try to wake it from sleep mode the computer doesn't recognize my password -- the same one I used successfully when I turned the computer on.
Okay, I seem to have solved the problem I posted about earlier. I noticed that the language preference in the upper right hand corner of the screen (between the date and time and the Spotlight icon) had somehow gotten switched from American English to French. When I switched it back to American English, my password worked when waking the computer from sleep mode. I have no idea why changing the language preference would affect the way the password works but that seems to have been the case. I'll post again if I experience more problems.

I have a new desktop and re-installed my identity from my airtime back up and on the log in page my picture comes up with my usual password hint, but it is not accepting my password and I do not have the option to reset using my apple id - that particular function is in grey and cannot be clicked on
Depending on what kind of computer you have, you're gonna need to put that backup in the appropriate folder or itunes is not gonna be able to see it for you to use.

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.

Problem to come back from sleep mode in Lenovo Thinkpad T400 using Windows XP. Each time closing the T400 lid and try to make the laptop into a sleep mode for some time, it does not properly come out of sleep mode. Login screen is able to see when opening the lid for the first time, but it only seen for a while before then a black screen on T400 Thinkpad appears. Sometime the hard drive activity can be shown also. And then, to come back I had only one option to hard re-boot.
I tried Fn+F4 and power button once to come back but no use.
Please provide me some solution for this?

When the computer in woken from sleep mode we see two login options (bineg used by two users).
But when we try to login, the screen just behaves as a sluggish rotating cube.
Nothing works, we just have to hard boot at this time.Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -
Freezes when gets back from suspend mode
My 2010 MacMini freezes and show a black courtain sometimes. This happens when gets back from suspend mode. The RAM has passed a test memory and it hasn´t any problem.

Going back to selection screen from Change mode in ALV.

Everything is working ok. But when I click on Back button,the screen goes first to the ALV display mode from edit mode, then user has to click one time more the back button to go to selection screen because the FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' is called once again when user clicks
on change button because I am making the EDIT flag = 'X' and then calling FM again.
Is there a way that when user clicks on Back button, he will directly go to Change Screen -> Selection screen instead of going to Change screen -> Display screen -> Selection screen

Rajesh.You must not call the FM 'REUSE_ALV_GRID_DISPLAY' again to make it editable. Instead you can call the FM REUSE_ALV_GRID_LAYOUT_INFO_GET and REUSE_ALV_GRID_LAYOUT_INFO_SET to make your grid editable / non-editable.

In this example, when you SAVE, it will give you one Information message and than make the Layout to non-editable mode. When you press back button, it will get you back to selection screen.

If you are unable to get the iPod into Disk Mode to try and restore it, it's a very good indication, as mentioned in the article, that the iPod's hard drive is damaged and in need of replacement either by Apple or a third party repair company.

My zero Key isn't working after waking from sleep mode. This is a real problem for me because my password contains a zero. I don't recall spilling anything or jamming it just that it worked before I closed the computer and wasn't after I woke it up.
I would like to fix the key but if that's not possible right away , Is there a way to reset my password without being able to type with a key thats in it?Start by swapping the keyboard. You don't need to spend a fortune, and handy to have spare. USB cables can be bad even new.

Since the 5.1 update, my Apple TV 2 has no audio after it wakes from sleep mode. To get audio back I need to go to settings and manually put it to sleep then wake it up. Once I do this I have audio. I have restarted the Apple TV as well as me modem and router. I have searched the boards and cannot find a solution. Please help.mrdctaylor wrote:
