ODT Uninstall

I've tried everything mentioned in this forum (and several others) to get the ODP 9i working and I'm done wasting my time (4 days now). I just want to uninstall and go along my merry way, but when I uninstall and try to "Add Connection" in the Server Explorer in VS 2005, I get the Oracle error still. What do I have to do in order to get VS working like it did before I attempted installing the Oracle tools? Uninstall/Reinstall of VS 2005 doesn't work. I'm running WIN2000.

Just wanted to clarify I want to uninstall all Oracle Developer Tools, not just ODP.

  • 0x87D01280 "Virtual application is currently in use" error when uninstall App-V Office 2013 in Software Center

    Getting the above error message when attempting to uninstall Office 2013 App-V version (downloaded using ODT) in Software Center. There are no office 2013 or App-V processes showing as running in Task Manager. Nothing in event viewer to show what is running
    either. Any idea on what could be running and holding the uninstall from completing?

    Hello,
    These issues are caused if the virtual package is used during the attempt to uninstall.
    SFTMIME is a legacy command-line interface for App-V 4.6, not supported for usage with App-V 5 (which is the only version that supports Office 2013).
    App-V 5.0 SP2 has introduced the ability to divert required actions to next logoff / reboot depending on publishing, if the package is in use.

  • Office 2013 Pro Plus won't uninstall from Windows 7

    Hello,
    I'm currently testing Office 2013 ProPlus before rolling it out company wide.  I've used the ODT tool to install Office 2013 ProPlus and it works fine.  Now I want to test an uninstall just to be certain there aren't any gotchas once it's in production
    and I would need to uninstall for any reason.  This is the content of the configuration file I used for the uninstall.
    <Configuration>
        <Remove>
          <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail" />
        </Remove>
      <Display Level="Full"  />
        <Property Name="FORCEAPPSHUTDOWN" Value="TRUE" />
    </Configuration>
    When I run it, it gives me a window asking if I want to remove it.  I select yes, it shows progress of steps 1 -4, says it's removed Office and I need to restart.  I restart and the entire Office suite is still there and functional.
    All shortcuts are still on the taskbar and everything runs fine.
    I also have Project 2013 and Visio 2013 installed but these are standard volume licenses and were installed using .MSI not click to run.  For this reason I don't want to use the Uninstall Office Fixit tool as I don't want to remove these applications
    just the Office 2013 ProPlus.  Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

    Your syntax looks ok to me. I have done something similar without this issue you're having.
    Does the ODT setup logfile reveal anything ?

  • Installing Latest Oracle Client & ODT for Windows 7 64-bit

    I have a Windows 7 64-bit. I would think that using 32-bit Java, 32-bit Oracle Client and 32-bit ODAC would work just fine on this operating system. However, I had no luck getting it to run. Here is what I did and a few reasons why I prefer to never work with Oracle products:
    Installed 32-bit JDK/JRE (1.6 Update 25)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 1
    Tested connectivity from SQL Developer successfully
    Installed 32-bit ODT (11g R3) to Home 1 (installer noted upgrades and new installs)
    Failed connectivity from all things windows (ODBC, ADO, ADO.Net)
    Uninstalled 32-bit ODT
    Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (oraparam.ini file missing among other issues)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 2
    Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (told to use deinstall tool)
    Failed to uninstall 32-bit Oracle Client Home 2 (told to use deinstall tool)
    Failed to run uninstall tool in Home 1 (told to download standalone deinstall tool)
    Uninstalled 32-bit Oracle Client Home 2 (completed successfuly with errors - seriously?)
    Uninstalled 32-bit Oracle Client Home 1 (completed successfully, but couldn't delete folder)
    Oracle.DataAccess and Oracle.Web are still installed in GAC. Uninstall attempts fail (access denied)
    Installed 32-bit Oracle Client (11g R2) Home 1
    Tested connectivity from SQL Developer successfully
    Tested connectivity from .Net 3.5 successfully (using 32-bit 2.0 dll)
    Tested connectivity from .Net 4.0 successfully (using 32-bit 2.0 dll)
    Does anyone have any suggestions on getting Oracle Data Tools for Windows to work before I try that again?

    I realize ODT uses ODP, but installing release 3 upgraded the .Net 2.0 ODP DLLs (which were installed from the Oracle Client 11g Release 2 install) and added the .Net 4.0 DLLs. After that install everything stopped working from Windows land and then it took the better part of two hours to get it back to what it looked like prior to the install. The other thing weird thing I noticed is that although Oracle.DataAccess is registered in the 2.0 GAC I cannot add a reference that way using VS2010. I have to manually add a reference to the file path. Although it still appears I do not have to have the assembly copied locally to run, so the GAC registration seems to be working in that regard.

  • Just installed ODT 11.1.0.6.20 but can't find Oracle Explorer

    I downloaded and installed the latest ODT but there is no Oracle Explorer under the View menu option of VS2008. Installation went fine with no errors. I could see the new debugging options under the Tools menu option. I even uninstalled just the developer's tool and reinstalled it and it's the same.
    On my PC there are VS2003, VS2005, VS2008 and I chose VS2008 only for the ODT.
    Thanks for any help.

    Hi,
    "Oracle explorer" was the old way ODT worked. The current versions now integrated directly as a data source in the built in Server Explorer instead.
    Hope it helps,
    Greg

  • Switching from ODP 9.x to ODP 10 and ODT

    We currently are using ODP 9 with VS 2003 and Oracle 9i databases. However, I would like to switch over to the new Oracle Developer Tools and ODP 10. From what I have seen, I believe this works fine with our Oralce 9i databases. However I am confused about what we need to do to do this, both for ourselves and for our users.
    1. For us developers, do we just uninstall ODP 9, then install ODT 10, and then recompile everything? Do we need to also install ODP 10?
    2. What our our users - those who just run our application and do not use the developer tools? Do they need to uninstall ODP 9 and install ODP 10? Do they just use ODP client and do NOT have to install the ODT?
    3. Can both ODP 9 and ODP 10 (ODT 10) exist on the same machine?
    I just need some guidence on what I need to do to switch both myself and our users from ODP 9 to ODP 10. Thanks!
    Tom

    Well I already bought 10.4.6, getting it delivered today. But thanks for the link to that alternative browser, whcih ansnsweres my question as to what solutions OS 9 users use today to browse the internet. Anyway, I'm gonna upgrade to to Tiger (paid for) which was recommended for my hardware, which is not new, from 2000, but it's my understanding that 2 processors could work well with OX 10. Right now, I think my extra processor is utilized only by Photoshop 6.01 but not globally with OS 9. Althogth I can believe you that OSX is slower than OS9, I'm hoping that the 2x processor support will compensate for that.

  • Unspecified error using odt in Visual Studio 2003

    Hello all
    We have Windows XP SP2.
    We have installed ODT version 10.1.0.4.00 on our workstation. We have MS Visual Studio 2003. We have the Oracle client 10.1.0.2.0.
    We also have Oracle data access product 10.1.0.4.0.
    When I try to access Tools - connect to oracle database, I get the error : "unspecified error". I get the same error back if I try to exit Visual studio. I have to kill the process to exit. I have the same thing using View - Oracle Explorer.
    What could be wrong ?
    Best regards

    Typically that error is referring to a COM dll that is not being loaded because it is not registered on the system.  Usually, that error message will give you a dll name, or a PROGID, or something.....was anything else provided in the error?
    In order for a file to be unregistered, something might have been uninstalled (or a failed install) that could have caused this issue.  I did a search in kbase and found a article that may help, at least it refers to a dll that you can try to register.
    Perhaps doing a reinstall may resolve the error.

  • ODT 11.1.0.6.20 doesn't work under Visual Studio 2005 server explorer

    I tried to connect to an Oracle Server by Server Explorer of Visual Studio 2005:
    1) In Server Explorer I click with right mouse button on Data Connections and choose Add Connection...
    2) I click on Change...
    3) I choose Oracle Database in the left list
    4) I choose Oracle Data Provider for .NET under the bottom left drop down list called Data provider (I see .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle and .NET Framework Data Provider for OLE DB too)
    5) Instead of the dialog window shown at this link [http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/net11gobe/building.net/images/addconn04.gif] I see the dialog window shown at this other link [http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/8212/wrongvisualstudio2005se.png]
    6) If I try to insert a right connection string or simply click on OK I receive this message box: "An unexpected error occurred in the .NET Framework Data Provider for Oracle. Please contact the provider vendor to resolve this problem."
    If I try to redo all the operations I cannot see anymore the Oracle Data Provider for .NET under the bottom left drop down list called Data provider.
    My system configuration is:
    - Windows XP SP2 32Bit
    - Oracle 11g ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio (I installed all the packages with Instant Client too, the client works I tried with SqlPlus and Sql Navigator 6.1)
    - Visual Studio 2005 Version 8.0.50727.762 (SP.050727-7600)
    - .NET Framework 2.0.50727
    I can use .NET Framework Data Provider without any problems, but I need the new ODT 11.1.0.6.20 because I can insert stored procedures into .NET dataset visual designer and call from a TableAdapter.
    I hope someone can help me.

    I downloaded ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 recently (two weeks ago).
    I forgot to tell you that I have Visual Studio 2003 Enterprise Architect (Italian language) installed too and I installed ODAC for this version too.
    In Visual Studio 2003 under Provider Tab of the Database connection I don't see any Oracle Data Provider, the only one I see is Microsoft OLE DB Provider for Oracle.

  • Package Load Failure ODT 11.1.06.20 production

    I have just downloaded the production release of ODT. I uninstalled ODT 11 beta 2.
    I installed ODT 11 prod without Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server 11.1.6.0.
    Now I get this error when I want to create a new Oracle Database Project in VS 2005 SP1.
    VSIP: Package 'Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio .NET' has failed to load ( GUID = {D601BB95-E404-4A8E-9F24-5C1A462426CE} ).
    Please contact package vendor for assistance.
    I also get the same error when I want to connect to a Oracle server in the Server Explorer.
    I have tried the tips that were posted at the link below but they don't fix this problem. http://forums.oracle.com/forums/ann.jspa?annID=258
    Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
    Fabian

    I found a fix for me. Maybe it works for other people too.
    3 dlls were not in my GAC.
    Oracle.Managment.Omo
    Oracle.VsDevTools
    Oracle.Web
    Added these manually.
    I also had to fix some errors in machine.config.
    Oracle install added this to machine.config
    <healthMonitoring configSource="Machine.Config.HealthMonitoring.config">
    <providers>
    <add name="OracleWebEventProvider" type="Oracle.Web.Management.OracleWebEventProvider, Oracle.Web, Version=2.111.6.20, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89b483f429c47342" connectionStringName="OraAspNetConString" buffer="true" bufferMode="OracleNotification" />
    </providers>
    </healthMonitoring>
    Because we store our health monitoring section in a separate file (i.e.
    Machine.Config.HealthMonitoring.config) we have now 2 providers section under healthmonitoring which VS 2005 doesnt' like. So I moved the Oracle item into our separate file and deleted the providers section so it looks like this now
    <healthMonitoring configSource="Machine.Config.HealthMonitoring.config">
    </healthMonitoring>
    One more thing. A connection string was missing in machine.config. Either the Oracle installer couldn't add it because our config files are encrypted or because we keep them in a separate config file just like for healthmonitoring.
    I added this to our connection string config file.
    <add name="OraAspNetConString" connectionString=" " />
    Now all works fine.

  • ODT v11 Beta Installation Problem - Can't connect to Database

    Hi, I'm having difficulties setting up the ODT 11.1.0.5.10 beta. I'm fairly new to Oracle so I apologise if I've missed something obvious!
    First of all I tried installing ODT 10.2.0.2.21 and that worked fine (after I copies tnsnames into the appropriate folder).
    However, after installing v11 I can't connect to any of our databases anymore, either through VS2005 of PL/SQL developer, which we normally use. When I try to set up a data connection (in VS Server Explorer) using ODP.Net, I get 'ORA-12154: TNS: Could not resolve the connect identifier specified'.
    If I try to make a connection using the .Net Framework data Provider for Oracle, I get 'ORA-12541: TNS: no listener'.
    Testing the connection using Oracle Net Manager, however, succeeds without a problem.
    i put the tnsnames file in there, so that's not the problem. I'm not sure if the installation worked properly, as there are a lot less files & folders in the new Home added for the beta than in the one added for v10.2
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Grant

    Yeah, you could be onto something with the path, thanks - it seems like the installer for the v11 Beta misses \bin off the end of the new Oracle home path, which causes problems. Since fixing that, I can now connect with PL/SQL developer.
    however, I am still facing one problem which my colleague also seems to have. We have an 8.1 client installed, and when we try to set up a connection with VS2005, it uses the tnsnames from the 8.1 client.
    There is also a strange issue whereby if you go into the advanced settings, the database name is only set to the first couple of characters of the actual name, which is probably why it isn't working. However, if I set the correct name in the advanced settings, when you come out of that dialogue into the standard connection dialogue, the database has reverted back to the first one in the list, putting me in a most annoying vicious circle..
    Even this problem has now taken a back seat as I am now unable to load the connection screen at all' getting a 'Package Load failure' message (it seems to think the package is using a GUID which isn't on the system). This remains even if i reinstall the v11 Beta. I'm not sure how I got into this situation, but it seems that there is some DLL registered in VS2005 which is now incorrect and doesn't get reset on uninstall/installation.
    If anyone has any thoughts on my myriad problems please share them with me!
    Thanks,
    Grant

  • A hardy ghost of Firefox is apparently running in my computer and I am unable to open Firefox, even after Window restarts and an uninstall/re-install. How do I find and fix this problem?

    What happened first is Firefox was revving and using most of my CPU, ultimately "not responding" too easily and for too long, so I closed it in order to reopen it, but Firefox remained running in background (Task Mgr, Processes) after closing, continuing to use almost all my CPU, so I ended the process in Task Mgr.
    When I went to re-open it, window opened and told me Firefox could not be opened because another "instance"(?) was still running, to close it or restart Windows. I couldn't close it because I already closed it AND ended the process, so I restarted Windows.
    When I tried to open Firefox, I got the same pop-up. I think I restarted Windows one more time, and then uninstalled Firefox, except for my personal settings (in order to save the bookmarks, which I couldn't find in the Firefox folder in Program Files (only Favorites, which were not my bookmarks; I later wondered if they were part of the Firefox add-on "Add This" --??).
    I then uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it. When I tried to start the newly re-installed program, I had the same pop-up telling me Firefox was already running and to close it or restart Windows.
    I searched my computer folders for anything that might help, did a Search of the computer for "Firefox", and was given some Firefox folders and if they weren't from the new re-install, I deleted them. One thing I noticed was that the program folder did NOT have the program (Firefox.exe) icon to start Firefox.
    I uninstalled Firefox and had to resort to using Internet Explorer, which I do NOT like. My rich library of bookmarks are who knows where.
    I don't know if this is related, but in searching my computer's Administrative Services and Component Tools (and the like) hoping to find something that would help me fix Firefox, I inadvertently learned that "MMC could not create the snap-in. The snap-in might not have been installed correctly. Name: .NET Framework 1.1 Config."
    Please help me get Firefox back and figure out what is going on in my computer that led to this. I am a basic user and not techno-computer saavy, so if anyone can help me with this, please give me step-by-step bonehead instructions.
    Thank you so much for any help you can offer!

  • I installed Firefox today but it will not open and the icon on the taskbar will not close and I cannot uninstall it and the helper app does not work either?

    I have tried everything that I know to uninstall the new version of Firefox. I also installed Aurora beta and it had the same behavior and I was able to uninstall that. I cannot open a ff browser to work on it using much of your support information. I click on icon but it does not start on the desktop but task manager shows it as running. I have to end task in task manager to close it. I can't uninstall it and have tried system restore but that also doesn't work because of another issue with my antivirus program.

    If this is on a Windows computer, check this Microsoft link;
