OEAP 600 bridging dual-rlans?

I have established dual-rlans on different segments.
I have a 2960g switch.  I created vl2 (management) and vl3 (data).
I connected rlan1 (port4) to vl2 and rlan2 (port3) to vl3.
My laptop receives a dhcp address on vl3 and the switch (in dhcp mode) receives it's proper address on vl2.
Unfortunately a MAC is assigned to each vl and to the management interface.  Thats 3 out of the 2 sets of 4.
So a managed switch is NOT the desired device to have on the back side of an OEAP600.
In any case doing a show mac address-table revealed that all the vl2 MAC addresses were duplicated on vl3.
To the tune of 216 addresses.  108 in each vlan.  Which is a close match to the current host counts for each segment
98 + 18.
Obviously this application is not what was envisioned by the OEAP team during work-up.
The goal of 4 host devices on the rlan is proving difficult to achieve.
The client wants 2 pc's and 2 digi-port servers.

OK switched to a 3560 and routed mode...
and with just the link to the 600 the switch reports:
"%ETHCNTR-3-LOOP_BACK_DETECTED..
and err-disables the port.
I set no keepalives and the problem is gone.  So the 600 is looping back..
I wonder just what type of Switch or Hub the design team had in mind.

  • OEAP600 Dual-Rlan w/7.2.203 code

                       The documentation says :
Only four clients can connect thru a remote LAN port on the 600 AP.
    I have network oeap-600 dual-rlan-ports enabled.
Can I now have four clients on EACH remote LAN port?
I am feeding a 2960-8, 1 rlan feeding vl2 as management and the other rlan feeding vl3 as data.
    I NEED 4 mac's on data.
The answer I think is 4 clients can connect thru remote LAN(s) total, just as we have 15 across all (controller) SSIDs of a single AP.
Darn, I was hoping for 4 each.  Just not enought table space to track anymore.

AH, there ARE 4 each.  Provided you are not using a 2960 like I am.
When I use a pair of Linksys grade switchs, the switch's have no presents on Layer2.
Can one dumb down a 2960 a bit and loose the vl1 and port mac hits?
    I don't really need management..

  • OEAP 600 - Possible to disable local ports 1-3?

I have a customer looking to deploy OEAP & wants to know if it possible to disable the local ports 1-3?  Reason being, they don't want the home user connecting devices & causing more support tickets to troubleshoot an Xbox or Google TV just b/c it's connected to a company provide AP/Switch.
I have read all the docs & it makes no mention of this.... I can see in 7.2 the ability to disable the local SSID but no mention of the ability to shutdown ports 1-3....
Also see support in 7.2 for Dual RLAN... but that still leaves 2 local ports.
    Thanks,
    Brandon

We found a way to disable the local ports.
    The command is
    config network oeap-600 local-network {enable | disable}

  • OEAP-600 AP backup connectivity to WLC

    Hi all,
    Here's the list of equipments:
    Pool of oeap 600 aps
    1x 2504WLC as OEAP WLC (@DMZ)
    1x ASA 5515
    Scenario:
My OEAP WLC located at ASA - DMZ is NATted to a public ip (primary internet ISP), then my pool of OEAP-600 were configured to communicate with this OEAP WLC.
    My question is:
I want to automate the failover of OEAP-600 (I don't know if this is possible) to the secondary internet ISP whenever the primary internet ISP fails. The secondary ISP is terminated on the same ASA 5515-X doing PBR and IP SLA stuff.
I know that OEAP 600 can only be pointed to one WLC ip address
I know that the WLC can only be NATted to one public IP address.
    Anyone?
What would be the best solution to perform the OEAP backup connectivity? Or just buy another set of WLC/ASA then just manually configure the OEAP-600 APs to point to the secondary ISP.
    Dave

You are limited to one public IP address on the WLC. You can have multiple WLC IP address set on the OEAP, but that will not help with one WLC and one public IP. So you would need another WLC and ASA since you would have two ISP connections with different public facing IP.

  • OEAP 600 Series - Maximum User Count

    Supported User Count
Only fifteen users are allowed to connect on the WLAN Controller  WLANs provided on the 600 series at any one time. A sixteenth user  cannot authenticate until one of the first clients de-authenticates or a  timeout occurred on the controller.
Note: This number is cumulative across the controller WLANs on the 600 series.
For example, if two controller WLANs are configured and there are  fifteen users on one of the WLANs, no users will be able to join the  other WLAN on the 600 series at that time. This limit does not apply to  the local private WLANs that the end user configures on the 600 series  designed for personal use and clients connected on these private WLANs  or on the wired ports do not affect these limits.
This is from the Configuration Guide for teh 600 series Office Extend AP. Is this count per AP or total per WLC? If I have 10 APs deployed to our remote users, can each AP support two simultaneous users? Would I need to use separate WLANs for each OEAP?

  • OEAP 600 and AP policies

I have two 5508 and a few hundred 1142 in our internal net. Now I bought some OEAP 600 to do tests in some small branch offices, but I would like to enable AP policies with MAC filtering to block that anyone else can connect an OEAP through our firewall. If I enable 'Accept Self Signed Certificates (SSC)' and 'Authorize MIC APs against auth-list or AAA' as suggested in Cisco document 'Aironet 600 Series OfficeExtend Access Point Configuration Guide', will that effect only my OEAP 600 or will I have to also include the MAc addresses of my internal 1142?

  • OEAP 600 cannot join WLC with auth-list enable

I've got a strange problem here. In the office, my OEAP 600 can join WLC if there is no MAC authentication. When i enable MAC authentication at WLC, AP will fail to register. However, I try it at home and it works with both MAC authentication enable or disable. I suspect it is because of firewall in my office, but there shouldn't have any different in discovery and joining procedure for AP with MAC authentication enable or disable. I'm confused here. Please help.

    Justin,
Below is error summary from WLC:
    Last Error Summary
    Last AP Message Decryption Failure----
Last AP Connection Failure     ---------      Timed out while waiting for ECHO repsonse from the AP
Last Error Occurred                ---------      Lwapp join request rejected
Last Error Occurred Reason    ---------      RADIUS authorization is pending for the AP
The error reason is probaly because I haven't added AP MAC address to ACS. With the same AP, at home using ADSL link, i have no problem.
    Thanks.

  • SeriTek/2ME4-E Not Compatible With Oxford Bridge - Dual Core

    Hi Gang
After weeks of extensive testing I was able to confirm; the SeriTek/2ME4-E is not compatible with Oxford Chipset 924, or 934, (OWC Quad Enclosures). The incompatibilty issue is related to my Dual Core 2.0, (perhaps other Dual Core models as well).
After weeks of back n forth, FirmTek support was not totally co-operative. Had to push toward resolution, which I later confirmed myself. Flashing to different firmware, formatting a NEW system drive, the whole 9 yards.
It appears compatibility design is geared mostly toward Mac Pro systems. Someone here pointed to the 'Bridge' as a possible 'culprit'. In my situation it's definitely true. I've taken all my drives out of OWC Quad enclosures, and will sell them on Ebay. I'll stay with DIRECT SATA connection thru dedicated dual bay enclosures, and continue using the SeriTek/2ME4-E.
This issue may not be common to others, but thought I'd post this information anyway.
    Thanx
    Mike

From the FirmTek Web Page; "Third Party Enclosure Compatibility - FirmTek cannot guarantee compatibility with third party enclosures." Somewhere there's also mention of 'Oxford' The tech also repeated over and over it could be the enclosure bridge.
    It definitely WAS.
I tried one of these; http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Other%20World%20Computing/MESATATBE/ I REALLY LIKE IT , and for $27 you can't beat it, (getting 2 more). For my money, I don't care how much noise the fan could make, as long as it COOLS those babies. Many other OWC enclosures don't have fans. Selling all my bridged enclosures on Ebay to recoop some $$
About the SeriTek/2ME4-E; I'm stuck with it, but it's FAST, so I'll make it work. I even picked up another 2 Port FirmTek card on Ebay for $40!
I'm keeping this Dual Core running as long as I can. No intention, No money for Mac Pro.
With 7-8 large capacity drives with so much valuable data, and soooo much $$$ invested, this was my only solution.
    Thanx
    Mike

  • Bridge Dual Monitors CS3 Workspace Questions

I can't seem to figure out a few things regarding running dual monitors. Run windows XP, have the latest bridge/cs 3 updates. Sometimes everything works fine, other times it doesn't.
I like having my preview pane on monitor #1, directly in front of me. I also like opening the selected photo in RAW from monitor #1 and having the RAW window come up on monitor #1.
Most often the RAW window will open up on Monitor #2, which I do not want to happen. On Monitor #2, I have my content pane and my metadata & folders showing.
I've reversed 1:2 and 2:2 and can't get it to work right either. Could someone provide some guidance? Been searching options and can't figure it out.
Another topic that is not related to dual montiors. Sometimes my preview tab, will not show the selected photo in it. I usually reset Bridge on start up and it'll be there...but sometimes the photo disappears. The tab will still be there. Any help/ideas would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

I discovered that with dual monitors if the window is maximized it has no preview image (default workspace), just a green pane. If you use the double headed arrow and pull back the dividing line between thumb/preview pane or preview/metadata pane it revels dozens of "copies" of underneath. The preview will only show up when the thumb window pane is moved quite a ways to the left. It is almost like the real workspace is on the bottom and the others are on top.
The solution I have found is to click RESTORE DOWN (middle window icon) and then everything works correctly, even if I enlarge the window to full monitor. If I maximize it reverts again. Am using Vista and 2 monitors. Can work with this now that I know what to do, but a little puzzling. For anyone not seeing a preview image, or metadata, might be worth while to see if maximize window mode is the problem.
Perhaps you could experiment with maximize - restore down and see if it helps with your problem.
Probably get a better response if you post questions in Bridge question forum rather than feature forum.

  • Sandy Bridge Dual - Xeon  better?

    Hello,
    Just wondering,
Is a dual xeon workstation that much of a performance boost with 16/32 (when available) RAM than a i7 2600k with overclock?
Are xeons worth the 5% performance boost?
(All with the same hdd config, video card, etc: 8X samsung f3 1tb raid 5 with intel raid controller, gtx590, vertex3 ssd)
    Thank you,
    Sebastian

No. Since you already wasted a lot on non-performing components, it makes no sense to continue in that fashion. If you have money to burn, better donate that to Bill and me to improve the PPBM5 Benchmark
Where have you wasted money, you may ask. The GTX 590, the extra duty PSU necessary, the Vertex3 SSD. All are bad choices if BFTB ("Bang-for-the-Buck") means anything to you.
    The Vertex3 120 GB @ € 225 performs about equal to a € 37 Samsung F4 320 GB disk.
    The GTX 590 @ € 630 performs not noticeably better than a € 200 GTX 560.
    The 1200 W PSU @ € 195 instead of a 1000 W PSU @ € 160.
In total an extra amount wasted of around € 653 without seeing any performance gain.
I would suggest not wasting additional funds on a dual Xeon setup. I mean, you have already crippled the 590 to PCIe-8x by adding that raid controller, making it an even more unwise purchase decision, PM me for my bank account so you can donate some of that money you need to get rid of to Bill and me.
PS. This maybe was not the reaction you expected, but I felt it necessary to show you the limitations of your approach. Sorry if I hurt your feelings.

  • Canon MP 600, G5 dual 2.0, OS 10.4.8

I have spent at least 20 hours trying to resolve this to date.
I am meticulous with all of my Macs.
I removed the MP600 drivers, reinstalled combo 4.8 update for ppc on the G5, restarted the G5 twice, ran everything in the disk utility with no errors, reinstalled the MP600 drivers, same results...not a thing.
Even though I have no printing issues with the MP600 on my my G4, I did all of the above to it as well. the G4 still works fine as far as printing goes( direct USB). It does not work with airport extreme (g).
Canon called me back just as I was about to reinstall the MP600 drivers to claim there were no known issues with the drivers for G4, G5, Imac Intel Macs, something I find hard to believe at this point. I will say they have spent a fair amount of time with me on this, but I still do not have a solution.
Incidently the scanner portion of the MP600 does not work at all on either the G4 or the G5. It clearly says on the box for the MP600, that is compatible withG4, G5, Imac Intel Macs.
I had originally bought a MP460 in which the scanner portion worked on both the G4 and G5 however the printer portion only worked on the G4.
I then called Apple support something I rarely do (twice in 14 years).
Apple spent considerable time with me, which I deeply appreciate.
Apple and I checked out my system thoroughly deleting the cache in the user library, deleting all of the apple.com.print items in the user library preferences, ran everything in the disc utilitiy and detirmined the G5 is 'healthy'. The G5 works perfectly with everything else and always has.
My current status is that I am a loyal customer to Apple and Canon (I have and have had several Canon Products), but am still without a printer on my G5. Am I beginning to get frustrated? Yep!
I have never had a problem like this since 1994 when I had my first Mac and Canon(Stylewriter) Printer combo.
I feel the problem lies with Canon, as much as I hate to point a finger. I say this because of the way the MP460 and the MP600 behave on the 4 'healthy' computers (2 emacs are also involved with this that work via direct USB) with identical operating systems.
Tonight I am going to put my old HP photo smart 7140 back on to both the G4 and G5 computers, as it was working before I tried upgrading to a new printer.
If it works (I am pretty sure it will) I will be 100% certain the problem lies with Canon.
One last thing, I had the 4 computers working on airport with printing with the HP flawlessly for 2 years, except for the odd time. When the printing stopped working with airport and with direct USB connection, I struggled to get it working again but only with direct USB connection. I then decided maybe it was time to get a new printer.
Boy did I open a can of worms. Both my hands are in the air!

    Hi Paul,
    Thank you for your concern.
The G5 DP 2.0 was connected to the printer via USB. with airport turned off at all attempts.
The same connection method was applied to the G4's and they all worked without a hitch right out of the gate.
My plan was to get the MP600 up and running on all machines via USB before getting into the wireless.
I went through what you suggest about 20 times on the G5,
as well twice with Canon on the phone, and once with Apple on the phone.
They were both thorough (both companies I like immensely). Apple took me through much more on the G5 including system profiler where in the USB tree the MP600 was showing up. It also showed up in the PSU but gave me no option to add during any of the trials. Apple took me me through everything in the Disk Utility and everything passed with flying colours as it did the many times prior to me contacting Apple.
I wish the G5 would have responded as well as the G4's.
Yesterday I removed the Canon software from the G5 and the G4 and reinstallled the drivers for my old HP 7140, plugged in the printer and it worked on both the G4 and the G5. I did not try it via airport.
I might add that my airport system (g) has remained rock solid through all of this. On the airport I have 2 emacs, 1 DP2.0 G5, 1 G4 400MB, and 1 PS3
everything is updated with the latest.
So where an I today? Last evening I bought a HP6980 deskjet with built in wireless 802.11 b/g, brought it home, set it up exactly as per the manual on the G4 and G5, config-ed it to my airport and 'voila' it worked. I still have to do the emacs and I'm pretty sure they will not be a problem.
Today I am going to reluctantly return the MP600. Its too bad because it really is a nice looking unit.
I already have a Canon 8400 scanner and an S70 digital camera, both work perfectly. It would have been nice to have the copy function.
Please note I still have a lot of faith in Canon, they make excellent products and have great support.
I have 2 university, 1 high school student(s) an 2 small companies and had to find a quicker solution to this. I needed a printer that would work on all of my computers.
    Here is a tidbit Canon sent in the latest email response;
    "Dear Valued Customer
Thank you for your E-mail inquiry regarding your PIXMA MP600.
Due to the wide variety of possible network configurations, we are unable to provide you with network printing support. Canon printers and MultiPASS' are designed to be connected to a single workstation. Our apologies are extended to you for any inconvenience.
Should you require further assistance, please feel free to email us or visit our customer support website at http://www.canon.ca
    Sincerely, xxx"
Please note all of my inquiries to Canon were related to getting it to work on my G5 with a USB connection only.
I'll look at a Canon again when the HP expires, and see what they have.
Thanks again Paul for your concern, as well anyone else out there who assisted me through this.

  • OEAP602, RLAN support

With Dual RLAN support enabled, does one now get support for 4 MAC's per port or just 4 shared between the two?
I seem to recall getting more than 4 but after last weekend (unk reason), I can only get 3 with a 4th a set of zeros and number 5 missing all together.
I have a 602 linked to an ES440 Cellular Modem.  A workstation on rlan1 and a ubiquity bridge set to a remote control panel (RCP) on rlan2.
The WS is DHCP and the rest are static.  The root bridge presents 2 MAC's to the 602 (bvi and eth0) while the non-root only presents the bvi.  That be 3 MAC's and the RCP does not appear.  However one can ping the RCP from either side of the bridge but NOT from the WLC.
It all worked last week.  Now it does not.
    Thank you
