OEAP & PaloAlto & Tunnel Interruption

Hello,
I´m testing right now following solution :
We have a Flexconnect & OEAP WLC5508 installed in our DMZ ( LAG configured together with a DMZ switch  )  . Our Firewall is a PaloAlo device.
Now I get following problems:
All working without problems . I get a connection over the internet with my OEAP600 AP and get an  IP and can also use my Cisco Phone
which is connected to the RemoteLAN on the OEAP. Strange thing is now If I do for testing a reconnect on my Laptop
( disconnect OEAP SSID and reconnect ) the Tunnel interrups and rebuild. In the most cases then the tunnel come back and everything works ( Phone & WLAN )  again and sometimes only a reboot from the OEAP will fix the problem.
I checked if I see any blocking on the PaloAlto but I don´t see anything what is blocked.
Regards
Alex

Hi,
Thnaks for the nanswer , see below more clarifications:
So you have lag enabled on the WLC in the DMZ and you have an etherchannel setup to the same DMZ switch  --> yes
So when you are using the remote LAN, your dumping the traffic to a segment in the DMZ -> yes
All our controllers are placed into the DMZ . We used one controller as Flexconnect termination and OEAP termination point. We have a second controller which is used only for Guest Access and works fine .
I also inserted the command network ap-discovery nat-ip-only disable.
I opened the ports UDP 5246 and UDP 5247 outside to DMZ.  If I done a test and removed the rules from the PA it works. But I don´t see any blocking if activated the rules again. This is the strange thing for me and I not know why the tunnel goes down. I thought also if this could be a problem with my DHCP configuration because I´m using DHCP proxy on the WLC for my  OEAP interfaces.
Thanks

  • How to: audit guest user traffic and keep it out of the tunnel

    Hi all,
    Project:
Install AP in county library for local client use to the cloud via cable/dsl (vlan3) and maintain usage counters.
Manage the AP thru the cloud, over the existing (3rd party) library network (vlan2), no client traffic.
Sounds just like an OEAP using the private ssid.  Just no accounting that way.
I read somewhere that ver 8.0 would let us flex internet traffic local and route everything else thru the tunnel,
but that probably would not provide a usage audit either.

    Hi all,
Well the question had a bit of obfuscation built in.
I trunked my AP from the local switch...  native vlan 125.  Vlan 16 is the dsl pop.
AP links to the WLC via 125.  Flex ssid is linked to the local vl16.  The flex ssid is wpa2/psk and the WLC tracks all associations there-too with MAC/IP data, adequate to create user/count data.
Too simple.  I was thinking ACL's and all the rest.
    Thank you

  • Aironet 600 AP interruptions

    Hi All,
Fairly new to the Office-Extend arena, but I have two Air602 OEAP units for testing. Overall functionality is great but I do have one slight annoyance.
While i'm connected to the "Corp" ssid, the one pushed from my WLC, it will occasionally drop my connection. My Wireless NIC will sit there and sent ARP broadcasts and get no response, this lasts for about 30-60 seconds and then everything will reconnect like nothing happened.
This is only an issue on my Office Extend AP, my LWAPP in the office dont do this to me. I have verified that the problem is not linked to just my PC. I have another laptop that I tried at home and got the same behviour.
I did a packet capture during the "silent" period and i see my wireless adapter sending packets, but getting no responses. The controller doesn't see the Ap disconnecting nor do my clients disassociate or see the SSID disappear.
I've verified it's not my internet connection at my home because I had a client on the "local" SSID on the AP as well as the "Corp" SSID, the corp ssid client lost connection while the local SSID client maintained internet access without any interruption.
My 5508 WLC is on my "internal" network behind an ASA running 8.4(3). I thought maybe the firewall was an issue so I tried another non-Cisco firewall as well and got the same behavior.

    AP Info:
    Inventory Information
    AP Type     CAPWAP
    AP Model     AIR-OEAP602I-A-K9
    OS Version     5.22.84.6
I dont see an OS upgrade available under CCO downloads for the AP. Any ideas where I should start to look for this?. Thanks.

I'm seeing a similar issue running the 7.3.101.0 code.  However, it's only happening (or being reported) for mac users.  And it can go well beyond 30-60 seconds.  It can go on indefinitely sometimes until I disconnect and reconnect to the SSID.  My SSID does show connected, but similar to your experience, no arp responses from the default gateway.  I did a packet capture to see this.  Interestingly, not long after starting the capture I see some EAPOL packets come in and suddenly it starts working.  So would seem that 802.1x is blocking the port and for some reason I'm not re-authenticating.  I tried disabling session time out, but that didn't solve it.
Here's the packet trace where it's not working then suddenly starts working:

  • IP-Fast Reroute with MPLS remote LFA tunnels

I have a simple ring network with 4 3600Xs with IP/MPLS 10 gig backbone between all units (with OSPF running in the core).  Per the 3600 design guide I turned on IPFRR under OSPF for fast reroute of traffic around faults.  I have a l3vpn on the 3600s that I'm using to test.  The FRR works quite well when the repair route is a ECMP (equal cost multipath) route, I don't even notice an interruption in ping between l3vpn sites when an 'active' link goes down.
The issue arises when the repair route is a remote-LFA (loop free alternative) MPLS tunnel.  I've done a few tests, and the failover time when the repair route is a remote LFA tunnel is the same as when FRR isn't turned on at all, it's just the normal route convergence time and there is a significant traffic interruption (as compared to FRR when an ECMP route is the repair route).
The thing is I'm not quite sure how even to diagnose this.  I was thinking that maybe the remote FLA tunnel was using the link that failed, so it in essence was 'down' as well, hence the traffic interruption as routing fully converged.  But I looked at the remote-LFA interfaces, and as much as I understand them they are taking the right path out of the router anyway (that is, away from the link that would fail in order to activate the remote-LFA route).
Are there any resources or tips to help troubleshoot why these remote-LFA tunnel repair routes don't seem to be working well?

Thanks for the reply Nagendra.  When you ask if I've seen the back path installed in RIB/FIB, I'm not exactly sure what you mean.  I do see repair paths referncing remote LFAs on both the 3600 that would be the source and the destination of the test traffic.  Like this:
      * 172.16.0.3, from 10.10.10.3, 01:55:50 ago, via TenGigabitEthernet0/2
Route metric is 2, traffic share count is 1
          Repair Path: 10.10.10.4, via MPLS-Remote-Lfa40
    and on the other router:
      * 172.16.0.2, from 10.10.10.1, 01:56:34 ago, via TenGigabitEthernet0/1
Route metric is 2, traffic share count is 1
          Repair Path: 10.10.10.2, via MPLS-Remote-Lfa32
If you're looking for some specific command output, let me know.

  • RVL200 not unloading previous tunnels

I have been using an RVL200 with 1.1.12.1 firmware under Windows 2000 IE6 for several month now.
No problems...  I recently just crashed and now I can not get a tunnel to come up.  I can connect
just fine, but when I click to get the tunnel built, nothing is downloaded and I get a pop up error
indicating that the page is looking for a tunnel class (XTunnel1) which does not exist.  The error
    is as follows:
         Line:     40
         Char:     1
         Error:     Object required: 'XTunnel1'
         Code:     0
         URL:     http://aa.bb.cc.dd/portal_install.htm
I believe that if I get rid of the remnants of old tunnels, that the new one will download.  I have gone
through the machine and deleted the appropriate files in WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files,
    drivers, xtunnel.*, ssldrv.*, MLWebCacheCleaner.*, etc.
How do I either FORCE a download or completely clean out previous tunnels?  There are artificats
in the registry for virtual passage, but I don't really want to go through snipping things.  Again,
this has all worked fine for MONTH's.  So I don't need to change any security settings in the
brower (although I did obviously double check this)

I came up with a workaround for the problem.  On a lark, I installed
Firefox and am using that.  It works fine, although I would hazard
that it might be using more memory than IE as it forks a
VirtualPassagExe excutable under a Java process that I don't recall
seeing before (not that I paid close attention to this)
I had hoped that getting the virtual tunnel to work once might somehow
clean out the 'gunk' (?) from the previous interruption of Internet
    Explorer.
But only Firefox works now; I still can't get anywhere with IE.  Not
sure what this information means.  Windows 2000 is clearly not the
problem (particularly since it has worked for at least two years).
And I guess we can rule out IP stack and the 'Dial Up' connections.
Dunno where else to head to clean out the junk.  I have definately
removed all the files as per Cisco directions, but obviously there
must still be some sort of artifact some place.
"C:\WINNT\Downloaded Program Files" comes to mind, but this is kind of
a 'funny' directory.  If you connect to it with cmd.exe and do a dir,
you get a different listing than what the Windows Explorer shows you.
    Perhaps it's gotten corrupted, somehow.
I guess if Firefox breaks that I could move on to Opera.  And then
    Safari.  Just kidding...

  • Anchor Eiop tunnel problem 5.2

    Hi,
were using two dmz WLCs for "guest-Access" - one is designated for an Hotspot and one for a direct dmz access. The internal wlc uses the management-interface as interface in the wlan-config and the internal wlc has all accesspoints directly connected and have the same configuration as the dmz wlcs and both ssids are active. Between the inside and outside wlcs we have differend subnets routers and also checkpoint firewall clusters - but no NAT. All Wlcs are in the same mobility group.
The problem is, that under some condition the mobility feature hangs up ! The internal WLC authenticates the client and give him full access (including IP) but the client can not ping or connect to any device behind the eiop tunnel.(in the DMZ) That problem occurs to both DMZ WLCs. On the wcs i can see that there was a short interrupt of the ancor-tunnels but the alarm disappears. While the client can't forward any traffic a debug mobility or an mobility ping works fine and shows no problems (a lot of keepalives from all wlcs)! The only way to get the tunnel working for traffic-forwarding is to reboot the external wlcs in the DMZ. Rebooting the internal won't help!
Do you have any information or suggestion what can causes that kind of problem ? Is there any debug command wehere i can detect the problem ?
    Thanks, Dennis

I am just wanting to verify that all controllers are on the same version of code. A mismatch between an older 5.1 controller or before my result in a problem establishing the tunnel because of the 2 different protocols being used to talk between the AP and the controllers. 5.1 and before is LWAPP 5.2 and later is CAPWAP I believe.

  • OEAP and remote lan anchoring

    Hi all,
can someone explain how to configure anchoring on a 'remote lan' wlan for the OE-solution?
    That's my setup:
    - DMZ:
    2504-CTR with code 7.3.101.0
    - Internal
    5508-CTR with code 7.3.101.0
I've configured two WLAN's and anchored it to the internal Controlller => everything works fine
I also want to use the Remote Lan Port on the OEAP600. I've created a new WLAN on the DMZ-CTR and choosed Remote Lan from the drop down menu. On the internal CTR I've created also a new WLAN, choosed Guest Lan from the menu and mapped the egress-interface to an existing Wired-Interface.
When I now want to configure the anchor on the newly created remote lan on the DMZ-CTR, the problem is, that the menu is only showing 'remove', there is nothing with 'mobility anchor' or something like that.
So how can I create the EoIP-tunnel for the remote lan?
    Thanks, Florian

They removed that feature starting on v7.2. I was told from TAC that it was broke and that it was decided to be removed. I have remote lans configured on v7.3, but it was because it was in place when the WLC's were running v7.0.x. They told me not to do the reverse tunnel like what your trying to do, but open the FW to the internal WLC and have that WLC manage the OEAP's.
I don't line the idea that they did this, because it does work but now I can't add, modify or delete the remote LAN.

  • IPhone Voice Memos Interrupted By Incoming Calls

I notice that every time I use my Voice Memos software on the 3G(s), if an call comes in, the Voice Memo stops recording and I won't know it till I look at the phone later. Is there ANY way to stop that for that not to happen and you can have perhaps the calls go directly into voice mail so that the Voice Memo feature doesn't get interrupted? It's useless to me otherwise.
    Thanks for anyone's input!

The voice recorder application - just like every other iPhone application, native or 3rd party - will shut down when you receive a phone call. The iPhone operates under the assumption that the device is first and foremost a telephone.
As far as work arounds go, you can always put the phone in airplane mode when you need to use the voice recorder app uninterrupted. This will send all incoming calls directly to voicemail.

  • IP Phone SSL VPN and Split tunneling

I went throught the following document which is very useful:
    https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9124
The only things i'm not sure about split-tunneling point:
Group-policy must not be configured with split tunnel or split exclude.  Only tunnel all is the supported tunneling policy
I could see many implementation when they used split-tunneling, like one of my customer:

It is working for them w/o any issue.
    My question would be
    - is the limitation about split-tunneling still valid? If yes, why it is not recommended?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
If you're not using certificates in client authentication then the SSL handshake will complete before the user is requested to authenticate with username/password.  If this authentication request fails you will see the SSL session terminated immediately following this failure (as in the logs you provided).  Notice the 5 seconds between the SSL session establishment and termination, this is most likely when the user is being authenticated against the aaa server.  If the phone is failing authentication against an external aaa-server you'll want to investigate the logs on that server to determine the root cause of the failure.  The ASA can also provide confirmation of the authentication request/reject with the command 'show aaa-server'.  If you want to see what's going on at an authentication protocol level you can enable several debugs including "debug aaa authentication|common|internal' and protocol specific debugs such as 'debug radius user|session|all' or 'debug ldap'.

  • How to allow multiple users login to a MAC PRO without interruption?

I have a mac pro, which runs Yosemite, (2013 module) to be used as a server. However, I have difficult to let multiple users to use the mac simultaneously.
    Objective:
One person uses the mac directly on his desktop, while the others to login remotely though VNC from PC (win 7/Linux).
The users have their own workspace, and they will not interrupt each other.
    What I tried:
I created two mange accounts on the MAC.
Account 1 was used to directly login on the mac desktop.
Account 2 was used to login to the mac from a PC though VNC. (I also tried this from a Centos workstation with the Tiger VNC viewer)
    Problem:
When account 2 is login, the location monitor will automatically change to that account as well. Both accounts shared exactly the same screen, mouse & keyboard actions. It is impossible to let multiple users to use the MAC pro simultaneously without interruptions.
If I use "hdiutil attach" to mount a dmg file though SSH with account 2, the folder will automatically show in the local desktop login with account 1.
    Question:
I read something about the "Per-user screen sharing". It says, "You can remotely log into a Mac with any user account on that computer and control it, without interrupting someone else who might be using the computer under a different login." Is it possible to do this from a PC or Linux client?
If the problem is simply due to the poor functionality of the build-in VNC service in Yosemite, I appreciate your help to suggest some other decent VNC server for Yosemite. I know the Vine Server (OSXvnc), but I failed to install it on the mac because it is incompatible with the Yosemite.
Does the SSH is supposed to work in this way in OSX? I mean the local account can see the folder mounted by another account though SSH.
If any specific version of Yosemite is required to allow multiple users to access a mac simultaneously? Just as the win 7 professional allow only one user to login in at each time. But with the remote desktop server of windows, multiple users are able to use the same computer at the same time without any problem.
If you familiar with any of the above questions, please help. Any comments and suggestions are appreciated.
I know the best way to get the solution is to direct call the apple support. However, it is really not easy to call them. Because it always results with long waiting time and then the people pick up the phone will transfer my call to an expert who will make me to describe the problem again.
Since I'm not interested in the technique details of all the problems, it is also grateful if you would provide a direct instruction to let me setup the computer for the purpose.
Thanks you very much for your kindly help.

I cannot help with the screen sharing, although I have just tried it with a RealVNC client on an iPad and it seemed to work OK.
However on the disk showing on all users desk tops have you unchecked the "ignore ownership on this volume" check box? You can check the drives permissions with CMD i command.

  • The installation was interrupted message after iTunes upgrade

I would appreciate help with my problem. I'd like to use iTunes but it doesn't work.
Description of the problem: I was happily using iTunes for more than a year. I received a notice that a new version was available and I upgraded. When the installation was complete I received the following message:
"The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be completely installed."
iTunes is not listed in the Programs menu and there are no files at c:\program files\itunes (itunes folder is not there).
After subsequent downloads and installs, I get the same error. When I do the iTunes standard install, QuickTime is
available and works well. I went back to the previous version, but it continued to give me the same error. I found very old versions of iTunes on the web and they too had the same problem.
During the install the iTunes icon briefly appears on my desktop and then disappears. The message box indicating that the installation was interrupted occurs right after that.
I've tried to describe the problem in quite a bit of detail below to help avoid suggested fixes that have been tried and failed.
    1. I have followed the steps in the KB article. Please see the details of that work below.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
    2. I have Administrator access. I have verified that I'm part of both the Adminstrators and SERVICE groups under Impersonate a client after authentication. This process is found in the following doc:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=300361
    3. Windows is fully updated through the Windows Update utility. See Windows version info below.
    4. I can install any other application. I use this computer for work and I can install and uninstall any other application
I try. No other known errors or problems. I've installed other applications that use Microsoft Installer and InstallShield installers without problems.
    5. I tried the Quicktime standalone install and I received the notice that "The installation was interrupted..." Quicktime is now not found on the machine and there is no Quicktime files in the Program Files. During the middle of the installation, I received the following error. Error during QuickTime Standalone (7.1.0.210) install:
Error 1905.Module c:\program files\QuickTime\qtuiPanelControl.dll failed to unregister. HRESULT -2147220472 Contact your support personnel.
When I attempt to install iTunes from the standard install, Quicktime installs properly and works. It only fails during the standalone install.
    6. No strange characters in the folder. There is no itunes folder so it contains no folder. The download exe is on my desktop.
    7. Temp Folder emptied and machine restarted (many times)
    8. Uninstall older versions - They are not listed as installed so there is nothing to uninstall. The Windows Clean Up utility does not list them so I can't use that tool to remove them. It appears that iTunes is cleaning itself up when the installation fails so there are no files. There is no iTunes folder at c:\program files\.
    9. iPodService alert is not there so I don't need to delete it.
    10. Redownload software - It has been downloaded many times. Each time I'm careful to permanently delete the previous install exe so it is redownloaded.
    11. AntiVirus software has been disabled. I'm using McAfee VS Enterprise 8.0.0. I have also checked the AV logs to see if it has blocked an install or other event around that time - there is nothing in the AV logs to show any blocked or prevented activity. No activity at all because the software is disabled.
    12. Registry - A search of "itunes" in the Registry Editor finds a lot of references. Too many to list, but most are in keys that apply to file types.
    13. I have downloaded and attempted to install the Windows Installer 3.0 package from the following URL:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5FBC5470-B259-4733-A914 -A956122E08E8&displaylang=en&Hash=9PV3FS4
I'm told by a box during the install that the version I have installed is newer than the one on the website and there is no need to install it.
    14. The version of iTunes that I'm trying to install right now is 6.0.4.2. I've had this problem for at least three months so I've been trying many versions before its release.
    15. Other than the mentioned AV program, I don't have a third-party firewall, anti-spyware or monitoring program installed.
    System:
    IBM ThinkPad T42
    Windows XP Pro
    1 GB RAM
    McAfee VirusScan Enterprise 8.0.0
    Microsoft Windows XP Professional
    Version: 5.1.2600
    Service Pack: 2.0
    Location: C:\WINDOWS
    Hot Fix: KB913446
    IBM T42   Windows XP Pro

It is a miracle - After about 9 months without itunes, the new release installed on my machine today and appears to be working.
7.0.0.70 is the verion I just installed.
Another note to add to this now resolved issue. I bought an AirPort Express and I was not able to install the Admin software on the CD. I received the same error as I received with iTunes and Quicktime. This leads me to believe that this problem is in the registry or some other installer issue that is specific to Apple installations. I will have to go home and try to re-install that software. Maybe the new iTunes version cleared up the problem.

Okay, lately I've been having problems installing photoshop after trying to create a user account for myself on this damned computer; a friend has supposedly helped me but we'll never know until I'm able to install the program itself... This is where ya'll come in.
    I am getting the message:
"The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop CS2 finished installing..." etc, etc.
I have rebooted twice and even waited a few hours before trying to install and still, I receive the same message.
    What do?

  • IPSec tunnel on sub-interface on ASA 5510

    Hello All,
I working on a security solution using ASA firewall and need some technical advice on ASA. Is it possible to setup a IPSec tunnels  on each subinterface of a physical interface on ASA 5510?
I would be greatul if someone please reply post this with some details.
    Regards,
    Muds

    Hi Jennifer,
Thanks very much for your reply. I understand where you coming from, but the reason of using sub-interfaces is that, we have only one physical interface on the firewall connected to the MPLS cloud, and we need to setup a seperate IPSec tunnels for each client for security and integrity. In the current scenario, I have static peers and we can easily setup a static route to peer address.
Many thanks for your assistance, please feel free to to advise if you have any other suggestion.
    Regards,
    Muds

  • Unable to see logs while using split tunnel for RA

    hi everyone,
I have config RA   VPN at my home lab using split tunnel.
I can connect fine and able to browse the internet.
When i go to internet sites i do not see logs generated on the VPN ASA?

    Regards
    Mahesh

    Hi Mahesh,
You are using Split Tunnel VPN. This means that you have configured the VPN Client connection to only tunnel specific networks through the VPN Connection while its active. You have probably configured an ACL that contains your LAN network behind the ASA.
This means that only traffic destined to that LAN network mentioned in the ACL reaches your ASA through the VPN Connection.
The Internet traffic of the user or any traffic that is NOT destined to that network in the ACL will simply use the VPN Client users PCs local Internet connection or local network.
This is the reason you are not seeing any of the Internet connections from the VPN Client on the ASA. The VPN Client connection is only configured to forward traffic to the LAN network and pass all other traffic past the VPN Connection through the users local network connection.
If you were to configure Full Tunnel VPN for the user this would mean that ALL traffic would be forwarded from the VPN Client through the ASA and the ASA would control where that traffic would be forwarded and if that traffic would be allowed.
If you want to look at the current configuration on the CLI you would first have to issue
    show run tunnel-group
And find the connection that you are using at the moment. Then you would have to check what "group-policy" is configured under that "tunnel-group"
Then you could issue the command
    show run group-policy
This would list you the Group Policy configuration for the VPN connection and would show something like this under it
    split-tunnel-policy tunnelspecified
    split-tunnel-network-list value
The above configuration would show you the ACL that the VPN Client configuration is using to tell the VPN Client what traffic to send through the VPN Connection.
    Hope this helps

  • Why can't I install any adobe CS products after interrupted installation?

    So here's the deal.
For some stupid reason (don't ask why), I was installing CS6 during a hurricane. After full extraction, installer successfully initialized, but at 95%, there was a power outage. Upon restart, I attempted to uninstall whatever components had been installed to start with a clean slate. Unfortunately, the installation was interrupted just before installing the uninstaller. So...I had to force uninstall. In the process I also deleted a bunch of entries in the registry, and other files that were related or dependencies of CS6. Now in the process, I must have deleted something crucial to adobe installations in the WINDOWS system files, because now I can extract any creative suite related installation, but upon running the installer, I recieve this error:
"Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file."
Now I've tried everything under the sun. MD5 caches are identical to a pristine download, so no corruption of the files is evident, and I can install a copy of the file on another computer, so evidently it is fully functioning. I don't understand why it's stating there is a "missing file", when all the files required for installation (or so I was led to believe) were inside the directory where the download was extracted. I didn't realize Adobe installations draw upon windows files, but evidently i'm missing something special. I've fixed registry errors and checked the log. As far as I can tell, the FATAL error occurs when adobe installer fails to find a node in a specified directory, yet the log doesn't state the directory or filename so I can't properly investigate. I'm beginning to think the only way I can install CS anything is by reinstalling windows. Please, I require help from experts. Don't ask dumb questions. I'm an IT guy. I'm hoping adobe representatives will have more knowledge on the installation process than I do, recognize the error, or are more capable at disecting the error logs. I will copy and paste the numerous failed installation attempts from the PDapp log below. Please have a look. I need help!

I've done this multiple times and it produces essentially the same message, but there is a mention that a restart is pending. This is also strange because this is definitely not the case. First time I used CScleaner it took a while and was obviously busy correcting something. However now when I select clean all, it simply dumps anopther massive log file into AppData and says cleaning completed successfully. Now I just ran it again, so would you like me to post the more recent log file?
