OEL 5.6 after reboot looses network configuration

I have a HP-DL980 with OEL 5.6 kernel 2.6.32-100.26.2.el5 #1 SMP Tue Jan 18 20:11:49 EST 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
It has 2x 10Gb NIC's and 4x 1Gb NICs, after a reboot the server looses network configuration and can't login or ping the server. NIC's were replaced and tested in another server and they work fiine, cabling re-checked works fine. I am able to reproduce it on a DL-585 as well with the same OEL version and kernel. I've tried to re-enable the NIC's and still no connectivity.
Any thoughts, ideas?

I think you may be correct. The DL980 has a extension board where the NIC card is added. I don't have this issue on a DL585. If I remove the module from the kernel and reload it then it appears to work, only if the server reboots it doesn't recognize the cards at all and gives me the error messages above. I have opened a call with oracle, working on getting the files to them right now. thanks for the note on the bugzilla. I'll check it out. I posted info on the bug 680411 and got a response back that they do not have such a kernel and it is nont related. I am using the OEL5.6 with the unbreakable kernel.

  • Apple TV looses network configuration

    Hi people;
I have configured my Apple TV and everything works fine. I accessed ITunes, photos etc...
When I put the AppleTV on a stand by mode it loose the network configuration every time.
Does somebody know how to save the network configuration in oder not to loose it?
    Thanks;

It might not solve your problem but you could eliminate it as a possible cause by changing to a 5 letter password for 64/40 bit encryption or a 13 letter password for 128/104 bit encryption.

  • Mac OS 8.6 Auto network connect to a server after reboot is not working

We have multiple old blue and white systems on a network. All but one will automatically connect to the network when rebooted. I have gone into Chooser, Appletalk, put in the server IP address, put in the server password, checked the boxes that say remember Server name and password for next startup. I can connect at that time with no problem. When I reboot, the server does not automatically hook up. I have to go back into Chooser, etc. I created an alias on the desktop, but it still prompts me for a password to connect. I have performed a clean install of the Mac OS 8.6. It still does not connect to the server after reboot (after configuring all the settings again after the clean install). Please help..

Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you please create the database manually with below command and verify.

  • Network configuration oel 6.4

i just installed oel 6.4, and can't seem to find where or how to do a network configuration. the hardware is a dell r620 and i've successfully installed the IDRAC. If i go into system setuo and select device settings, i can see the
integrated nic ports, but when i click on them the only options i see are (1) firmware (2) mba configuration (3) iscsii boot conf, and none of them provide any place to enter the ip address or the dns configuration ?

i found the lifecycle controller feature (the f10 function key on a reboot) that allows you to update the network configuration

  • 2008 r2 hyper-v guest with static IP always looses network connectivity after every restart - no problem with DHCP

    Hello,
We are running 2008 R2 domain with one physical DC and other running in VM on Hyper-V host (2008 R2 Standard). The host has 4 NICs and is configured to use one physical NIC for itself (management) and the hyper-v guest is configured to use another dedicated/physical
NIC (through microsoft virtual switch) just for itself.
I noticed that after setting the hyper-v guest with a static IP address all works fine only until guest restart. When the guest boots up the IP address is still configured correctly in IPv4 properties, but there is no network connectivity at all and in fact
the guest shows running APIPA config in ipconfig /all output. That situation continues until I remove the virtual NIC from hyper-v guest, remove the virtual switch from dedicated NIC on host and then reconfigure it (using same settings as they were). very
    annoying.
For time being I switched the virtual DC (problematic hyper-v guest) to a DHCP IP and configured DHCP server (running on physical DC machine, not on hyper-v host) to store a reservation for the hyper-v guest so it always gets the same "static"
    IP configuration.
Is there some kind of a problem/bug with using static IP on (2008 R2) hyper-v guests? is there a hotfix for static IP config in hyper-v guest environment?
both 2008 R2 OSes (host and guest) are up to date with all updates (synced with Microsoft, not WSUS).

OK, I'm not at the office now, but took my time to test out the restart scenarios on problematic virtual guest remotely.
No dice, same as it was, everything works fine after guest has IP configured in DHCP mode (IP reservation of 192.168.1.5 for specific MAC address) and it doesn't work after restart in static IP mode (same address, works before restart of guest).
I also took "arp -a" outputs at each step from host server and that was always saying there is only a single host (192.168.1.5 = VDC = problematic virtual guest) assigned to that IP address and always with same MAC, so that pretty much rules out
ARP/MAC troubles and no issues with switches/routers getting spoofed. Problem is most likely with the virtual guest (WS2008R2) or within the host running same OS.
    Here are outputs:
    A) VDC has IP configured in DHCP mode - always same, survives through restart (all works)

On Monday I will install more test guests in Hyper-V host (WS2008R2), in variety of flavors like 7x64, 8.1x64, ws2012r2, and see if they show similar problems with static IP configuration when utilizing a dedicated NIC from host server.
Don't get me wrong, I can live with virtual DC running on DHCP IP reservation (which is based on MAC), because the virtual DC pretty much requires a physical PDC (hosting also DHCP in my network) to be present for safety reasons ... however I prefer a static
IP configuration on all servers, hence my question and surprise why it doesn't work.

    Hi:
I am new to linux and I have a PC( Acer Veriton X275) . I have installed OEL 5.2 on it. but I cannot connect to the internet. I already create a network from my Network Configuration interface. but its Inactive. once I press the Activate button I do have this error :

/sbin/ifup: line 28:need_config: command not found
/sbin/ifup: configuration for eth0 not found.
    usage: ifup<device name>
I am using cable connection to the router and it's using the DHCP ( My boss told me the connection is DHCP , I'm not sure about it)..

ok, also I got this comment from another of my friend. but I want to use the oracle database 11g R2 on linux. As I read the guideline for the database its support the Oracle Linux 5 updat 2. I scared whether I format the OS and the network problem solved but I get another problem with oracle db. do you know oracle db is supported by Oracle linux 6.2 or 5.8 or not?
    anyway thanks for your reply

  • SF300-24 is not saving configuration after reboot

    Dear All,
I have a couple of SF300-24 switches. When I made needed configurations using CLI or GUI and then saved all configurations. The problem is that switches do not save configurations after reboot. Please assist.
    Thank you in advance

    Hi Vsevolod,
I guess you have performed the function to copy the running configuration to the startup configuration as per the screen capture below.
The current released version of code does not have a supported CLI only a menu accessable via console, SSH or telnet.  New code coming out this month supports a CLI, so I am surprised by your comments regarding CLI.
If you have a early beta release of software version 1.1  with CLI, I would suggest you call into the Small Business Support Center  to get the problem looked at.
I am using the beta code on my ten port SG300   and 48 port SF300 , but had no difficulty saving configurations in old or beta versions of firmware.
    If you are still having trouble after reading this post, please contact the SBSC  at ;

  • Network configuration after suspend/resume

After a suspend and when I resume, the network configuration of my wifi card is lost (since the module must be unloaded).
What do I need to setup so that the settings of the wifi card (ip address, default gw) are remembered on suspend and applyed later on resume?

But the default network config may not be the last one I used, or the prefered one anyway...
At least I'd like the network to be initialized the same as it was before suspending.

have tried restoring to factory setting but nothing works

On2CO,  I'm glad you have reached out to us today. Thank you so much for the very detail description on what is going on with the device. Sounds like there might be an issue with an application that might be causing these issues. The reason I say that is, when the phone is in Safe Mode you are able to access the Settings screens with no issues. While in Safe Mode that does block all 3rd party applications from running on the phone. I would suggest on trying to back up the device and perform a factory reset: http://spr.ly/6-182Vuo (you would want to make sure to uncheck Automatic Restore in step 3). Once the reset is complete try to see if you can get into Settings. Then, I would recommend on adding 3rd party applications back on to the device one by one to see if we can find what app might be causing this issue. • Loose network connection after sleep

Everytime my macbook pro sleeps it looses network connections in my home and I have to go through re-establishing connection including network password

This seems to be a common issue on most Mac platforms lately.  I have 2 Macbook Pro's and 1 Air all experiencing this issue.  It only happens on hidden networks, at least in my case and most I have read.  I have yet to hear any official response from Apple but there must be at least 15 threads on this exact topic thoughout the forums.
Some people claim removing all the "Remembered" networks and re-add them fixes it.  I have noticed the only thing that seems to work is if I remove all networks and if I have a hidden network, it can be the only one listed. As soon as I add another saved network hidden or not, the problem comes back.
This is hard since most of the end users that use the macbooks on our hidden networks also use them at home.  So they naturally have multiple networks listed.  The odd thing is its not ALL of them.  We have a bunch of other Mac's that do not experience this issue.
I know this is not a solution but it is what I have found so far...

  • I lose connection with network whenever put MacBook Pro to sleep or reboot. Lost network configuration. Have to use diagnostics to relocate and reconnect. What is the fix?

I lose connection with network (router: Airport Extreme, latest firmware) whenever MacBook Pro put to sleep. Have to use diagnostics to reconnect. Tells me network configurations have changed, then reconnects me to network. What is the fix?

Try the following, in order, until (hopefully) resolved:
    1a. Delete Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Under "Preferred Networks," delete the network(s) you regularly use from the list.
    1b. Delete AirPort Keychain Entries
Launch the "Keychain Access" application located in Applications/Utilties.
Click on the "Kind" filter at the top, and look for any "AirPort network password" entries...and delete them.
    1c. Add Preferred Network(s)
System Preferences > Network > AirPort > Advanced > AirPort tab
Add the preferred network(s) using the "+" button.
Restart or log out then back in.
    2. Move System Configuration Files
(Note: You will have to reestablish your network connections settings.)
    Go to /Library/Preferences
Move the SystemConfiguration folder to the desktop.
Restart your Mac. (Note: OS X will rebuild the files that are now sitting on your desktop. If this doesn't resolve the issue, you can move the folder back to it's original location.)

  • ATV looses network connection if PC reboots or iTunes closes and reopens.

    Thoughts?

    Hi Lucy,
To address the suggestions you made:
There's too much code, performance needs to be
improved.  - Does anybody know of useful utilities to monitor cpu
performance as a sort of watch dog.
There is a software package called the Execution Trace Toolkit you can use to monitor the performance of your Real Time applications. If you have access to this software through a developer suite or a site license it would be worth installing that.
If not there are a number of other things you can try first.
The network or vi server is shutting down - Again, I'd appreciate some help on how to monitor this.
To determine if the problem is caused by the network you should connect to the cRIO with a cross over cable and see if you see the same behaviour. This will help determine if the problem is down to the network or the cRIO system.
Once you've isolated the source of the problem (ie the crio or the network) we can investigate the cause and hopefully come up with a resolution.
    Kind regards

  • After clean install, all configurations goes and all text flies to the left.

I installed an add-on extension to control popups and malware monitoring. Everything seemed to work, for about a week, and then Firefox began acting up. After working for a few minutes, Firefox looses all configurations, all images disappear, and all the text that is left flies to the left of the screen and stays there. The screen becomes grey and when I move the cursor over the grey area, it turns into a hand from the usual arrow pointer. If I can go to a Bookmarked page it might work (some seem too) or it might just mimic the exact same thing as Firefox. I've done everything I can think of to include, many reinstalls, reboots between reinstalls, clean installs, to searching for everything connected to Firefox has been deleted and then Firefox reinstalled with nothing but the most basic clean install possible. What's left.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.
