OEL 6.0 and 10gR2

Just curious if anyone knows if OEL 6.0 and 10gR2 are compatible?
From what I can tell OEL is still relatively new and the documentation I'm seeing still says OEL 4 and 5 are compatible, but no word on 6 that I can find.
Thanks!

No instructions for 10gR2 for OL6 on http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/linux/ArticlesLinux.php
But instructions exist for 11gR2 http://www.oracle-base.com/articles/11g/OracleDB11gR2InstallationOnOracleLinux6.php

    Hi;
Oracle 11g or 10g is not certified wiht OEL or RHEH6 yet. Please use OEL 5.x version which you can download from edelivery.

There are a couple of errors that doesn't make the clusterware look fine.
There was no previous version of OCR. error:PROC-33: Oracle Cluster Registry is not configured
proprinit:problem reading the bootblock or superbloc 22
This could mean either your cluster registry file is corrupt or you don't have access to the raw devices. Check the access to the shared storage raw device is valid. If this is not true, then make sure you have all your backup files ready.

  • Echec to install Oracle database 11gr2 in  OEL5.6, OEL 5.5 and RHEL 5.6

I try to install Oracle 11gr2 in Linux with the traditionnal installation but after several installation test i am disappointed.
i make test on several distribution of Linux 64bits (OEL 5.6, OEL 5.5, RHEL 5.6) and SAME result : The installation of Oracle stop at 81 % .
I have installed the packages required with the command line : yum install oracle-validated
I thinks it's a problem of library but what library ?

    Hi There
I have installed OEL 5.4 as the guest on Oracle VM Server. I did do an paravirtualized install. I then updated OEL 5.4 to the latest up2dates :)
Do I need to still install paravirtualized drivers or did it happen automatically ?

  • D1000 and 10gr2 RAC and ASM

    Solaris 9
    10gr2
    Hi All,
Is there anyway two nodes can share D1000 storage. Both nodes should see all the disks. Not half the disks each node.
If it can be done, please give me the proceduere.
I want to try oracle 10g RAC on this using ASM.
    Thanks in advance.

I am wondering If we can share D1000 between the two nodes and able see all the disks from both nodes. we can see half the disks from each node in split bus mode I guess.

  • Multipath.conf for oel 6.4 and oracle zfs appliance

i have a zfs 7320 storage appliance connected via brocade fiber switches to clustered linux servers. one zfs controller with four fiber connections each server has two fiber connections. there are redundant switches so zfs is connected with two fiber connections to each switch and each server is connected one fiber connection to each switch. the zfs appliance manual does not have oel or redhat or any other similar 6.x multipath configuration. oracle support or sales has not been able as of yet to find multipath config for 6.x and suggested i post it here. Since I had issues that seem to be resolved with new zfs appliance software I want to verify my multipath config before i put the unit back in production, I would feel much better with a known good config.
This is what is in the manual for 5.x linux:
    device
    vendor "SUN"
product "Sun Storage 7310" or "Sun Storage 7410" (depending on storage system)
    getuid_callout "/sbin/scsi_id -g -u -s /block/%n"
    prio_callout "/sbin/mpath_prio_alua /dev/%n"
    hardware_handler "0"
    path_grouping_policy group_by_prio
    failback immediate
    no_path_retry queue
    rr_min_io 100
    path_checker tur
    rr_weight uniform
This is what seems to work with 6.x:
    device {
    vendor "SUN"
    product "ZFS Storage 7320"
    getuid_callout "/sbin/scsi_id --whitelisted --replace-whitespace --device=/dev/%n"
    prio alua
    hardware_handler "0"
    path_grouping_policy group_by_prio
    failback immediate
    no_path_retry queue
    rr_min_io 100
    path_checker tur
    rr_weight uniform
    }

Nice to see a proper redundant storage fabric layer for once on OTN. ;-)
We've been in a similar position using multipath with a custom storage layer (Infiniband based). Like you we hunted for a best-match config - and then stress tested the fabric layer using fio (Flexible I/O Tester). And don't forget to pull some fibre cables, or shutdown/powerdown one of the fibre channel switches, while fio tests are running.

  • Forms6i and 10gR2 DB

Forms6i patch 17 (and onwards) works with 10gR2 DB (actually we also use patch 13, without problems). Is there an official document from Oracle, that certifies this compatibility ?

  • Latest releases of Designer 10g and 10gR2 now available on OTN

The latest maintenance releases of Designer 10g (9.0.4.7) and Designer 10gR2 (10.1.2.2) have been available for download on Metalink for some time now. These releases were recently made available for download from OTN. In addition, the latest release notes, installation guide, bug fixes for Designer and SCM, and error messages are now also available online. Links to the downloads and these documents are available from the Designer home page on OTN: http://otn.oracle.com/products/designer/index.html

Yes, that is correct. However, SCM is no longer being released as a standalone product. You should use Oracle Designer (which includes the Repository and all SCM functionality) instead.

  • Any problem with dblinks between 8.1.7 and 10gR2?

    Hi,
Just want to know if any of you have encountered problem using a dblink between an Oracle database 8.1.7 and a brand new 10.2?
I guess simple query from the 8i db to 10gR2 data would be OK...or not!?
But what for queries with joins???
Many Thanks in advance for your help,
    Sebastien

Could any of you 'copy & paste' the Metalink Note:207303.1 here on the OTN forum?

  • Physical to Virtual Copy of 11i EBS and 10gR2 DB instances for Upgrade Test

We recently completed a P2V copy of our 11.5.10.2 EBS instance and its corresponding database. We then ran the adcfgclone.pl script on each tier to rename the SID and basically create a new instance. When I navigate to the newly assigned web address to access this environment for testing, I can get to http://host.domain:port, click on Apps Logon Links, then E-business Home Page. Once I click that, I'm redirected to the original (Physical) instance's site. Any idea how I can resolve this issue?
Please let me know if you need additional information.
    Thanks!
    Kristopher

I've checked all that you mentioned in your post, and everything refers to my new host.domain:port. I haven't made any changes at the OS level regarding this new VM. Are there any OS-level changes that need to be made to point to this new host? I've already run the txkrun.pl script as follows:
    txkrun.pl -script=SetAdvCfg -appsuser=<appsuser> -appspass=<appspass> -enable=HTTPLoadBal
and answered the prompts to reflect the new host and domain.
    Thanks!

  • Oracle enterprise Linux and 10gR2 instalation error

I have installed Oracle Unbreakable Linux (from 4 CD's).
When tried to install Oracle 10gR2 I got error that displays when it's 83 % already installing:
Error in invoking target 'client_sharedlib' of makefile '/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/lib/ins_net_client.mk
I have installed developement pack (aditional rpm packages installed), but I don't know what's happening.
I read on other forum (Error installing Oracle Client on Red Hat 4.0 that I might miss some package.
My system is fully 32 bit, so I think I do not need any 64 bit package, like suggested in that thread!?
    Second question:
I thought that "Unbreakable Linux from Oracle" has all additional packages prepared for Oracle installation ...at least for current release 10gR2?
    Is that true?
    Third one:
If I use croatian keyboard, I cannot type "_" (underscore sign. How to have that (for me very important key)?
    Thanks...

  • Red underline inline spellcheck in Forms 6i c/s and 10gr2 web and 11gr1 web

I've looked through all the spell check threads and I think I'm asking an original question.
I'm looking for a spellcheck solution that mimics MS Word's red underline spellchecking as you type.
My company has a electronic healthcare record software package that commonly contains lots of narrative typed by users. Spell check is a very important feature. We have many customers, so I cannot control what other software exists on each client machine.
    Except:
    1) I don't want to use MS Word as an editor and I don't want to use OLE integration
    2) I don't want to use Jspell, as this must work in both c/s and web (JSpell doesn't red underline as you type as I understand either)
    3) I don't want a spellchecker that must be installed on the client machine (Accuspell, Spellcheck Anywhere, etc), although these typically do the job, some have problems with different MS Windows versions (ie Accuspell works on 2kPro and XP, but not on Vista & 7).
    4) I want the dictionary to be stored in the database, so it is centralized
    5) I need to stick with Oracle Forms
The best solution that I have found that fits all the bills above is "woodys web site" spellchecker where the spellchecker is actually built into forms (using an olb) and uses a dictionary that is stored in the database, although it only spellchecks one field when you press a button, and does not provide inline spellcheck (the red underline as you type).
Does anyone have any ideas?? There has been spell check discussion within this forum from back in 2000, with no one finding the "right" solution. Just wondering whether anything new has come up??
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
It is not possible to do achieve what you want, in C/S and Web more using same methodology. For 6i, you may need to use OLE, and for web, you can use a PJC (you can build it on top of JSpell? ). Of course, I am aware that both options are falling on your exception list ;) , but, i feel this is what you left out.
