OEM 10g Connection Refused
I got following problem, when i log into EM:
java.lang.Exception: IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect
That will appear on every EM i am connecting to...
I tried allready some troubleshooters like agentTZ, define TimeZone at emd.properties, restarting server or console but nothing helped.
I also looked for ports which will be used from more than one service but i found nothing :(
My OS is WinXP with 6GB Ram. Current there run 6 DBs on the machine
I have no Firewall on my OS.
If you need more Information, please ask, i am glad about every help i can get...
I have been trying to solve that problem for 3 days.

Hi,
I've installed 10.2.0.4.0 agent on Solaris 64bit which will connect to OEM 10g. However, when I configure the host in OEM I get Connection refused. I initially thought it was a firewall issue, however this can't be because it's on the same network. I've done agents for other hosts and they seemed to be working fine.
Any advice or suggestions would be grateful?
ThanksMy guess would be that you entered something invalid during the agent installation.
Given how easy the agent installation is try dropping the agent and reinstalling with great care. -
I have installed OEM 10g, and all was working great until today. I get Page Not Found when I try to open the console, so I checked for the service and it was not running. I tried to start the service, OracleDBConsoleorcl, and got an error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. I am using the version I downloaded from the web, and have made no changes since I first installed it and it was working. I am not using it for anything but my local installation right now, so have not installed the IAS with Grid Control. Do I need to do that even though I have not tried to connect to other Oracle server with OEM? Any suggestions? Thanks.
This is error message I see in one trace file:

Opmn fails with connection refused
Hi all,
I've successfully installed Oracle Application Server 10g AS R2.
After installation I could successfull login and access both Infra and Middle Tier using OEM, which were configured under a single Farm.
But unfortunately, after and when the server is restarted... opmnctl startall hangs with ons.log contents as below
08/06/23 16:25:14 [4] ONS server initiated
08/06/23 16:53:15 [4] Logging disabled

As a workaround I verified /etc/hosts file... it is as below
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
192.168.6.183 oravis.dsrc2.com oravis
I'm performing the start-up & shutdown in the following order

$ sqlplus "/as sysdba"

$ lsnrctl start RETEK

Now... I'm able to access the Infra & Middle tier throgh OEM but the status is Unavailable. Moreover now they not under the Farm (Which they were earlier in).
Also it is giving error connecting to repository database.
Please anybody, who have come across this kind of problem, kindly guide me, where actually I'm missing.
-MaheshHi Adith,
Thanx a lot for the updates and correcting me. I've gone through the documents and corrected the way by which I was starting the services.
But... when I try to do opmnctl startall, now I again got struck up with this strange error in ons.log
08/06/24 10:26:02 [4] ONS server initiated
08/06/24 10:47:51 [2] Connection 1,192.168.6.183,1521 SSL handshake failed

I've gone through metalink and found out that this is a problem with SSL Authentication which been stated as a bug.
Can anybody answer my following queries...
1. Is it mandatory to enable SSL in 10g AS? Can we run server without SSL?
2. If not mandatory, then how to disable SSL?
3. If the handshake error is a bug, how to fix? Do I need to apply any patch for this?
Looking forward for immediate response,
Regards

Installing OEM 10g (10.2.0.1) Grid Control on Linux86
Hi friends,
I have successfully installed OEM Grid in our RHEL 4.6 server (1st time).
At the end of the installation I got this message:
See below for information pertaining to your Enterprise Manager installation:
1. Use the following URL to access the Enterprise Manager Grid Control:
http://server01.ebiztech.biz:4889/em
2. The Enterprise Manager installation includes an Oracle Application Server instance, which is administered using a special "ias_admin" user account. The following information was defaulted for the embedded Application Server instance:
Instance Name: EnterpriseManager0.server01.ebiztech.biz
ias_admin password: This password is the same the SYSMAN account.
3. The connection details for the Enterprise Manager Repository are:
Host: server01.ebiztech.biz
Port: 1521
SID: emrepI can do #1, and #3.
How do I access #2? what is the URL corresponding to it? Or is it done through SQLPlus?
Thanks a lot,
Ms KThanks Raj,
Of course I will upgrade it, but for now I am still cramming on how to complete my installation huhuhhu:(
Firstly....
How do you install management agent for linux86?
I have already installed OEM 10g Grid Control OMS on my linux sever which also has EBS R12.1.
Do I need to install a "management agent" on this server, to be able to manage my EBS R12.1?
Secondly....
I want to manage our EBS 11i which resides on another server (remote).
I downloaded the Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip file from OTN,
and put it to the target server.
I unzip it following the readme.txt to the
1. Download the Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip file from OTN.
2. Copy the downloaded file to <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0 directory.(create <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0 directory, if it doesn't exist.)
3. cd <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0
4. <OMS_HOME>/bin/unzip Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip
5. If agent_download.rsp doesn't exists at <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0 directory then:
a. mv agent_download.rsp.bak agent_download.rsp
b. edit agent_download.rsp and modify s_OMSHost="%s_hostname%" and s_OMSPort="%s_OMSPort%" with the correct OMSHost and OMSPort values.(However, even if you are specifying a secure Management Service, you must still enter the non-secure port number here)
eg. s_OMSHost="stadv26.us.oracle.com"
s_OMSPort="4889"
6. Edit <OMS_HOME>/sysman/agent_download/10.2.0.2.0/linux/agentDownload.linux and modify OMShost=%s_OMSHost% and httpPort=%s_OMSPort% with the correct OMSHost and OMSPort.(However, even if you are specifying a secure Management Service, you must still enter the non-secure port number here)
For eg. OMShost =stadv26.us.oracle.com
httpPort=4889
7. Follow the agentDownload instructions from 5.4 section of Oracle Enterprise Manager Installation and Basic Configuration Guide. But when I got to #7 ....the documentation is not clear, as usual there are lots of injected unrelated topics which make the documentation "topsiturvy" and very hard to follow.
Can you just tell me, based on your experience how to install the agent? Someone told me to run OUI?
But I can not find it on the unzip >Linux_Grid_Control_agent_download_10_2_0_2_0.zip file
Thanks a lot. -

Creating Standby database in OEM 10g
DB = Oracle 10.2.0.4
OS = Solaris 10 Sparc
I am trying to create a physical standby database using the add standby database option within OEM 10g. This is something we have done numerous times before on 10g and 11g db's without a single issue, but for some reason, this time after selecting my RMAN backup location and staging area location , I am getting the following error when I click Next:
RMAN Backup Location - The specified RMAN backup is invalid. Could not identify controlfile from the backup
It is the latest backup (using RMAN catalog) from the previous evening and includes datafiles and control file.

The only difference between creating a standby for this db and others we have created is that the file system the backups are stored on is on a non-global zone shared via nfs mount.
I know that when I try and share that filesystem with other servers I get the message:
share_nfs: Cannot share filesystems in non-global zones
If the /backup filesystem is not shared with any other servers would OEM be able to read from that NGZ? The filesystem is available to connect to using ssh from other locations, but not sure how OEM handles this part of the process.
Any advice would be great.
Regards,
JPThanks for the reply. I thought that is what I would need to do. However this link is very useful and could resolve the issue. I have yet to raise it with the system admin guys here yet but will do and will report back on outcome.

Agent Error? IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect
For the past couple of days, I have been running into the "IOException in sending Request :: Connection refused: connect" error. I am running 10.2.01 on Windows 2003R2.
Along with this error, the DB Control shows agent unreachable.
Is there anything that anyone knows that may have caused this issue?
Thank You in advance,
JeffJhep,
Have you changed the timezone settings on the database server? Check emdctl.trc and see what it says. In the meanwhile, (a) stop dbconsole service, (b) execute emctl resetTZ agent and (c) restart dbconsole service.
Kindly should refer to the following Metalink Notes for a possible workaround:
bq. Metalink Note ID: 362888.1 "Startup Agent: EM Agent will not start due to Timezone mismatch (Daylight \\ Savings changes for Australia)" \\ Metalink Note ID: 409121.1 "Startup Agent: Agent Fails to Start due to Incorrect Timezone File Used as \\ Pointed by ORA_TZFILE" \\ Metalink Note ID: 388280.1 "Startup Agent: ORA-20233: Invalid agent name when running \\ mgmt_target.set_agent_tzrgn procedure in repository"
Lastly, see if any of the following post(s) are of any assistance to you:
bq. Oracle 10g EM DB console Host Preferred Credentials for Windows \\ Oracle 10g EM DB console Host Preferred Credentials for Windows \\ New Error -- Since DST 2007 \\ New Error -- Since DST 2007 \\ DST Patching for Grid Control Release 2 \\ Re: DST Patching for Grid Control Release 2
Hope this resolves the issue.

Hi,
I've configured ogg between primary & DR server. I'm continuously getting the following error in my primary server for DP process & sometimes for EXTRACT process after which process goes in abended state.
WARNING OGG-01223 TCP/IP error 111 (Connection refused).
After starting the process manually, it comes in Running state. But this is frequent issue I'm facing for OGG configuration at my end.

Regards,
Simon P- check your remote host server is up and running.
- check mgr process is up and running on target site.
- try this and see if network connection is OK..
telnet 10.10.250.198 7809
- try to copy a file (scp) from source to target (take a dummy file; size bigger than tcpbufsize)
- check ggserr.log file on target; you might see if there are any issues with server/collector port allocation/timeout.
hope this helps...

Agent is Unreachable (REASON = Connection refused) but the host is UP
Folks,
Can I pick your brains, I keep recieving the smtp alert from Grid control which says;
Agent is Unreachable (REASON = Connection refused) but the host is UP
upto 5 minutes later the smtp mail is received
Agent is Unreachable clear : <SERVER> - Agent Unreachable is cleared
I have tried the usual
$> cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
$> emctl start agent
$> emctl status agent
$> emctl upload agent
This is successful however shortly the messages re-appear. This is on a pre-production grid control which manages 35+ databases on 25+ Hosts and the smtp errors are filling the mailbox with these messages. FYI - The Hosts causing my headache are from a 2 node RAC hosting several instances including ASM running agent version 10.2.0.4.0
The network team says they are not seeing any connection drops in their logs.
Any assistance would be appreciatedThanks DBA05 for pointing me to look at the trc and nohup files in there I found a number of errors which I could enter into metalink and subsequently identified the Patch 7031906 which seems to have fix a number of the issues and errors identified.
Primarily
Using a 10.2.0.4 Grid Agent to monitor a 10.2.0.4 Database.
The 10.2.0.4 Agent version is certified to monitor a 10.2.0.4 Database.
The <AGENT_HOME>/sysman/log/emagent.trc shows that the health_check metric is repeatedly failing for this database :
2008-06-09 15:21:11,173 Thread-3658 ERROR fetchlets.healthCheck: GIM-00105: file not found
2008-06-09 15:21:11,174 Thread-3658 ERROR engine: [oracle_database,dbname,health_check] : nmeegd_GetMetricData failed : Instance Health Check initialization failed due to one of the following causes: the owner of the EM agent process is not same as the owner of the Oracle instance processes; the owner of the EM agent process is not part of the dba group; or the database version is not 10g (10.1.0.2) and above.
Repeated failure while executing this metric can cause the Agent to re-start, as it runs out of file handlers at the OS level.
- The database is a 64 bit installation but emagent executable is of 32 bit installation though the
64 bit agent software is installed.
I also found these worth a check
- Re-starting the database to create this hc_<SID>.dat file does not help in resolving the Healthcheck Metrics error.
- The <DATABASE_OH>/dbs/hc_<SID>.dat file has sufficient permissions to be read by the agent

Install of OEM 10g Grid controll on windows break my listener
Hi!
I install OEM 10g Grid controll to Windows 2000 server, successfully (a new database to the repository also was created by the installer).
When I restart our server the service of the Listener did not started (it was set to automatic) and I did not able to start it.
First I see the "Listener.log" and the trace file.
The problem was that the listener intended to load adapter protokoll and refer to the "orantcp9.dll"!
Because before the install I create a 10.1.0.2 database the path of the file point to the "Db_1\bin" and here is "orantcp10.dll" exists.
The "orantcp9.dll" is exists in "em_1\bin".
What and how can I fix?
An additional question : during my secont installation I select to create the repository into an existing database, but the installer refuse it because my DB version was 10.1.0.2 and not 10.1.0.3.
How can I create DB with 10.1.0.3 version on Windows?
I am in a deadlock :-)
Regards,
ImreTry MetaLink Doc Id 284680.1
The issue was that the EM Grid Control created an ORACLE_HOME environment variable. All you have to do is delete the variable, move the Database Oracle Home entries in the path to the front, and reboot the server. -
