Hello Gurus,
Please help me find the plug-ins for weblogic diagnostic pack and SOA / BI diagnostic packs for OEM grid control 11g 11.1.0. I already have installed plugins/
OEM->Setup->Management Pack Access->Pack Based Batch Update-> Management Pack for Weblogic Server
OEM->Setup->Management Pack Access->Pack Based Batch Update->Management Pack Plus for SOA
I am looking for a diagnostic pack ... its released recently .....

Oracle Middleware Management Packs: For middleware, there is the Management Pack for Oracle WebLogic Server, the Oracle Coherence Management Pack, and the Oracle Management Pack Plus for SOA - this includes the Business Transaction Management (BTM) capability with the ability to drill down to and monitor transactions through IT tiers. Besides these management packs for middleware, there is also the Diagnostics Pack for Oracle Middleware and the Diagnostics Pack for Non-Oracle Middleware, which features Java application diagnostics, Java virtual machine (JVM) monitoring, plus application server management and monitoring.

WebLogic diagnostic pack is part of base installation and you need not enable any mgmt packs. Make sure that you get the relevant patch sets (PSU 5) to see the diagnostics capabilities working correctly. BTM is part of Enterprise Editions of the management packs (WLS and SOA) only.

Diagnostic pack, Tuning pack are not in OEM 10g, Add partition to a table

Hi All,
I have 2 questions:
Q.1: In Oracle 9i Oracle Enterprise Manager java console, we had "Diagnostic Pack" and "Tuning Pack" which helped us seeing performance tuning info (session's statistics such as cpu time, pga memory, physical disk reads, etc.) and privded help for sql tuning and performance improvements. But in 10g, the same product (Oracle Enterprise Manager java console) does not include these 2 packs, due to which we are unable to monitor and control performance tuning information/statistics. Now my question is, do we need to install these 2 packs separately in 10g? if yes, where can we get them? (I am sure in 9i, these packages came with OEM console and we didnt need to get them separately)
Q.2: I have a partitioned table having 5 partitions based on range partitioning. Now our requirements have changed and we need to insert values beyong the 5th partition, so we need a 6th partition. Can someone tell me the command to add a new partition to the table? I tried "Alter table xxx add partition yyy ....", but it didn't work. If any one can me the correct syntax, it will be great.

OP is talking about java-based EM, not web-based DBConsole. In fact he/she has to change to DBConsole, because 10g java EM doesn't longer support these tuning features.
Alter table ... partition syntax depends on the kind of partitioning, see the documentation:

Need help for DB backup through OEM 11g grid

I need to know how to schedule the hot backup of whole DB using OEM 11g grid.
In our system there is a backup running for DB (10gr2). It is not scheduled through jobs.
I am not able to find this scheduled db backup information from OEM.
Can anyone guide me how to check the current backup schedules and backup script ?
Is there any good document for this ?

You may look out option for restore backup from production and restore the same on QAS.

Which shall help you with post restore steps on the database.
Once DB and SAP is up you may perform generic post restore steps like
- STMS re-configuration
- Adjusting profiles
- Executing BDLS
- Importing RFCs and user master ( if exported before the restore)
- Adjusting Partner profiles
- Configuring backup
- Apply SAP license
Above are just a few of them to name. There could be many more as per customer landscape.

Prformance Pack and Diagnostic Pack Options with Oracle EE 10g, 11g

For advance performance tuning Oracle supplies performance pack and diagnostic pack. which costs thousands of $$$.
Is there a programmatic or system oriented way or a table in database that would tell me whether a particular site has this option installed in their Oracle EE installation or not?

OEM ADDM & Tuning Pack

Hi Friends,
I'm evaluating the Oracle Diagnostic pack and tuning pack to compliment the already available standard SAP tool for tuning like st04/st03n,etc
Few questions
1. Anyone see the worth of the above 2 pack ?
2.sto4 can show you only so much why certain read/write in DB is slow, will this be the better tool in market for diagnostics
3. Anyone sees negative impact/ horror stories due to this?
4. Oracle has improvised OEM in 11g and 10g significantly, any inputs on this and usage on RAC
5. Any other great inputs are welcomed as well

Hi Naren,
From an Oracle DBA perspective, which is where am coming from, these tools are very helpful but because you are on SAP where you are really bound by SAP metrics, these are not going to be helpful to you because SAP recommendation supercedes Oracle's recommednation.
Note also that these packs require a separate license. If you are not licensed to use it, you should not be using them. From Oracle10g onward, Oracle had a record everytime that you use the diagnostic pack. You should have gotten this warning the first time that you try and use the diagnostic pack.
IMHO, most tuning are supposed to be coming from an application end and this is what most of the OEM reports will show you, the most expensive SQLs, you need to put index here and there, log switching, memory not enough etc. Most of these are already discussed in SAP notes. Additional indexes if ever one is identified, you will still have to get SAP Support to approve that, so what's the point?

1. My customer is using windows server 2008 with oracle 10g R2 database , can I install OEM 11g R2 to monitor all the 10g databases ?
2. I found only 32 bit installers for windows , where as they are using 64 bit OS , is it fine to install 32 bit OEM in a 64 bit OS ?
3. Do they require any separate license for OEM 11g , they have license for oracle 10g database ?

You don't need any license to use OEM 11g, however you do need licenses to use Management Packs

OEM 11g installation

Hi
I want to install Oracle Enterprise manager 11g, I have downloaded V23675-01.zip, V23676-01.zip, V23677-01.zip
I unziped V23676-01.zip, V23677-01.zip and they made oms directory, however if i am trying to unzip V23675-01.zip, it gives below message

Monitoring WCI 10.3.0 & UCM 10.1.3.5 using OEM 11g R1

As part of the Service Monitoring for our OFM-OUCM environment, we have implemented OEM 11g R1. Our Dev/Test/UAT/Prod environment is comprised of SOA 10.1.3.5, WCI 10.3, UCM 10.1.3.5, multiple DB instances 10.2.0.3/10.2.0.4, IDM 10.1.4.0.1. We are able to monitor SOA 10.1.3.5, IDM 10.1.4.0.1 & the databases. But the 11g Agent wasnt able to discover the targets for WCI 10.3.0 & UCM 10.1.3.5. Is there a way to monitor UCM 10gR3 & WCI 10.3 using OEM 11g R1 or do we need to downgrade the OEM version.
We are able to see the WCI Products in the Hosts -> Configuration tab in OEM. But we are not able to monitor these as targets.

Convert custom management plug-in in OEM 11g to OEM 12c compatible plug-in

Hi All,
We have a custom plug-in developed and deployed in OEM 11g. We are planning to move to OEM 12c(12.1.0.4) and installing OEM 12c(fresh install) in a new host instead of migrating existing 11g to 12c as part of upgrade process.
Now question is what are the options if I want to use existing 11g custom plug-in in OEM 12c ? As I understand 11g plug-ins are jar file but OEM 12c plug-ins are OPAR files.
Can we export plug-in from OEM 11g and import directly in OEM 12c or if there are any steps to conver 11g plugin to 12c plugin before importing it in 12c.
Please suggest the options available without re-developing the plug-ins for OEM 12c.

To overwrite and update your current custom plug-in update that is stored in a repository, use the overwrite option.
$emcli create_custom_plugin_update

This command creates and imports a custom plug-in update from an existing Management Agent where the selected plug-in is deployed. The custom plug-in update will be used for all subsequent plug-in deployments on any Management Agent, in place of Oracle supplied versions.
Custom plug-in update is created as per plug-in type. If a custom plug-in update is created, and after three days, a patch is applied, in order to include the patch, the custom plug-in update will have to be created again.
$emcli list_custom_plugin_updates

OEM 11g R1 Licence

I have already installed OEM Grid control 10g R2 (10.2.0.1) on Oracle Enterprise Linux Server. I have already purchased and using licence for management packs.
Now I want to install new OEM Grid Control 11g R1 on the same Server.
Do I have to purchase Licence for management pack again for OEM 11g ?
Do I have to purchase any other licence for OEM 11g Like Web Logic or Database?

Do I have to purchase Licence for management pack again for OEM 11g ?no, because management pack is licensed at database level once you have purchased for a database, not you are free to use it. Another aspect is that you will be able to use this management pack only through one OEM grid at a time, either from 10g or 11g.
Do I have to purchase any other licence for OEM 11g Like Web Logic or Database?I think no, because when you install OEM Grid, database for repository is also installed and you don't need license for either GC or database as long as you are not using this database for some other commercial purposes and only using for OEM Grid repository and i believe same rule applies for the Web Logic server as long as you are using it only for GC and not for any other commercial application.
So, Grid Control is free and all things required by it are also free as long as these things (database, weblogic) are solely being used by GC

Patching using OEM 11g

Hi,
A newbie here, please pardon me if I am missing some additional details..please let me know if you may need more details.
Setup - OEM 11G Release 1 (11.1.0.1.0)
OS - Enterprise Linux Enterprise Linux Server release 5.2 (Carthage)
I am wondering if custom Fusion Middleware applications (say, foo.ear) could be patched (say, with files like foo.java, bar.xml etc) on a application deployed in production server (weblogic 11g) through the OMS ?
Came across the OPatch utility - which I think might help me. However, I am not sure how I could employ this from the OMS console..may be creating a deployment procedure (if possible) shall help ?
Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Get Plugin Finding Service Error for weeks & weeks now - can't update plug-ins, need download .pdf doc, but says adobe unstable, plug-in needs update. now what

Want to download .pdf doc, but pop-up says it's unstable, need update plug-in. Tried to update, got error message, with "try later". Same for weeks now. Tried check for updates, Firefox is up to date, clicked update plug-ins... it tries, then again... same error message: "Plugin Finding Service Error. Please try again later".
Been so long now -- when becomes a mighty big question. Looked in forum, no joy.
Please, can someone tell me -- what's the go. I'm absolutely no good with computers, but this needs to get fixed. Should I stop using Firefox or what?

Have tried to download via that link but not sure if successful. Very slow dial-up connection is the pits. Waited hours 'n hours, fell asleep in chair even, finally had to give in and go to bed, left it going. Server does time out every 8-12 hours, so not sure how long it went. The download appeared complete -- ie, did not show any note of failure. Not sure if it would -- some things in the past haven't.
Anyway, had success downloading one much older .pdf file, but the link for one I wanted had expired, and I don't know anything else to try. Tried a couple of other links I have, not sure of age of file -- on clicking link, the browser opened, but nothing more happened.
Wondering -- is the download available in separate pieces instead of one big one? Perhaps worth trying again that way?
Please, if you would be forgiving, and persist with me a little further/longer -- would you make your recommendation/s for next step/s please?

OEM 11g The Notification Schedule; Edit Schedule Definition buttons does not work

When I go to the Edit Schedule Definition in OEM 11g and check the Days of Week schedule and try to hit the Batch-Fill-in button or any of the other buttons, nothing happens. It's as if the buttons
are not working. I could really use some help on this.

Is yes then we have a known issue marked in BUG 13907733
Refer to below doc and apply the recommended patch
