Oem 12c metric threshold

All,
I have a question is it feasible at all to set up the warning and alert thresholds for the disk %busy to be 100% for a period of 3 hours for all servers as a default.
After this time notificaction should be sent.
Thanks,
Marcin

"for all servers" -- once you get it working on one server, create a monitoring template using that one as the source, then apply to the remaining.
As for the 100% for a period of 3 hours -
Show all metrics
Click on disk busy 3 pencils icon.
Click edit (this is KEY)
Then enter the warning/critical *and* occurrences.
So if 15 minute collection intervals you would say 12 occurrences.
Daryl.

  • OEM 12c Metric Value History

Hello! Sorry for my bad English. I have a problem to see Metric Value History.
Historical data shows only 7 days with the average values for one hour
and after 7 days as the average value of the day. In documentation i found:
Core EM Metric Data Tables and Default Data Retention in the Management
Repository Table                     Name Partitions Retained Partition Size
    EM_METRIC_VALUES                               7                          DAY
    EM_METRIC_VALUES_HOURLY                     32                          DAY
    EM_METRIC_VALUES_DAILY                         12                          MONTH
I changed the values for the following:
    execute gc_interval_partition_mgr.set_
    retention('SYSMAN', 'EM_METRIC_VALUES', 90);
    execute gc_interval_partition_mgr.set_
    retention('SYSMAN', 'EM_METRIC_VALUES_HOURLY', 180);
    execute gc_interval_partition_mgr.set_
    retention('SYSMAN', 'EM_METRIC_VALUES_DAILY', 36);
    TABLE_NAME PARTITIONS_RETAINED
    EM_METRIC_VALUES 90
    EM_METRIC_VALUES_HOURLY 180
    EM_METRIC_VALUES_DAILY 36
    But in EM:
    Host->All Metrics->Load->Memory Utilization(%)
still shows the values in the last 7 days as an average over an hour, and 7 days later as the average of the day
how can I shows the values of more than a week? Thanks.

    I will try to explain
I have raw retention period 90 days
    Host->All metrics->Load->Memory Utilization(%)
it shows 7 days with average values per hour. Later than 7 days - daily mean values.
I choose the date for April 6 and EM shows me a solid line on the graph, the average for the day, while the bottom shows that the spikes were triggered and restrictions
    [http://img.uz/s?d2h93mj]
    BUT
If i click on the button "Modify Threshold" i see the correct data
    [http://img.uz/s?g2h94ak]
    general graph in "Modify Threshold"
BUT if i have no privilege "Modify" I do not see the button "Modify Thresholds" and therefore can not see the correct graph.
How can I configure the EM to see the graphs in (Host->All metrics->Load->Memory Utilization(%) ) later than 7 days as when you press the button "Modify Thresholds" instead of the average values for day?

  • Setup -- my preferences is missing from my OEM 12c.

Here I have 2 question on receiving the E-mails from OEM grid 12c.
    1. In my console , I am not able to see setup --> my preferences ( tab)is missing from my OEM 12c.
Somehow I am able to set up my E-mail yesterday by going to setup -->notifcations--> my notification schedule (don't remember correctly how I did it now). Yesterday I got one test mail as well from EM server after setting up. Intentionally I didn't add the another E-mail address yesterday in the E-mail address table.
I am not able to find a way to add another E-mail addresses to E-mail table.
    Notification Schedule > E-mail Addresses

    2. Today I adjusted some Metric thresholds to very low to chcek I will be eceiving the E-mails.
I didn't receive any E-mail notifications for the metric alerts. But I am able to see the events underneath each DB incident manager -->events tab.
What is going wrong here ? Why I am not able to receive the E-mails ?
    My OEM verison is 12cr2.
    Thanks,

Based on the fact that you entered some data in the Manage dialog and you got an email - I would assume that the rule you setup is set only to trigger when one of the incident workflow conditions is met.
If you are interested in getting notifications on a specific metric alert event:
    1. Create a rule, Select "Incoming events and updates to events"
    2. Select "Metric Alert" in the Type drop down
    3. Choose the radio button "Specific events of type Metric Alert" if you are interesting in choosing specific metrics. Click Add on the table that shows up on the right and follow up to add relevant metrics and the severity you are interested in.
    4. Click Next
    5. In the actions page - click "Add" , Enter your user id in the "E-mail To" text field - click continue
    6. Click Next - add a name (if you want to) and click Next to got the review page.
    7. Review the rule - click continue.
    8. Once you are back in the main ruleset page - click save (I am assuming you have the ruleset setup with the right targets etc)
Beyond this - its a bit hard to do debugging on the forum. Feel free to open an SR and they can pull us in as needed.

  • How to tell if you have OEM 12c BP1 installed?

I had OEM 12c installed and attempted to download/apply the Solaris OEM agent software. I ran into the "Below host metric patches are not applied to OMS." error. I discovered this was because I needed BP1.
After 3 days of trying to uninstall OEM, finally got it uninstalled, downloaded OEM 12c w/BP1 and installed it.
Once again, I tried to download/apply the Solaris OEM agent software...and I got the same error message. Very frustrating.
I don't see anything in the "About" pop-up or "emctl status oms" output that actually says a BP has been installed though. Could I have just reinstalled the non-BP version? I got the installations zips directory from the Oracle website that says "Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 1 (12.1.0.1) for Linux x86-64
(With Bundle Patch 1)" so I don't think that's the issue. Is there something else I need to do to get BP 1 working??

    Few things:
    a) If you have linux oms with bp1 and want to deploy solaris agents ( with bp1) then you need to follow the steps from this doc:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e35229/aix_solaris.htm#CIHJJGDG
You will be required to apply patches on OMS and plugin homes on OMS.
    b) If you want to find wether the OMS installed has bp1 or not follow the note: How to Determine if EM Cloud Control 12c with bp1 has Been Installed (Doc ID 1424439.1)

I recollect in 12.0, not 12.1, there was a required OVM password deep in a hidden nook in the OEM Infrastructure Cloud GUI, I cant find it in 12.1, could this be the issue?
    Respectfully,

A quick update, Oracle support just informed me the 3.1.1 is not certified with OEM 12c 12.1. Not very helpful information, but its a start.
At first glance it appears that the OVM development team made changes that break the virtualization plug-in.
Any assistance and/or workarounds would be greatly appreciated!

  • Need information about OEM 12c Cloud Control Monitoring

    Hi All,
I need a piece of information about OEM 12c Cloud Control. Can we monitor JCapps from OEM 12c Cloud Control. If yes, then do I need some plugins to get installaed for this or any other requirement?
    Thanks in Advance!!

    Hi,
Glen is referring to Service management, a built in feature of Enterprise Manager. You'll find it under main targets drop down -- Services.
It is a way of pulling several systems together, add synthetic service test to the service and track metrics. System metrics can be promoted and all synthetic test metrics can be used to define Service level agreements, get alerts and create incidents against your defined service.

  • How to view messages in Jms queue from OEM 12c Cloud Control

    Hi All,
How can I view messages in a Jms queue from OEM 12c Cloud Control without logging into WebLogic Administration Console?
    Thanks in Advance!!

EMCC 12c gets down to the JMS message queue/topic level in regards to the metrics being collected. It doesn't provide a view into the actual messages themselves. Are you trying to capture/track messages with a particular payload?

  • Need Advise on Setting Critical Metric Threshold  for "Status"

    Hi All,
I am trying top copy all metric thresholds from OEM 9i to 10G. I ran across the metric threshold for "Status" (whether the node is up or down). It is set to "Down" and, although I'd like to set it to "Up/Down", when I hit Continue it comes back with
"The format of the critical threshold is not correct.". Does anyone know what the problem is?
    Thanks
    Sam

you are status metrics for all targets in grid control

    Hi Radhak,
    For loader related metrics:
    - Navigate to the homepage of the Management Service
    - From the Oracle Management Service, select Monitoring > All Metrics
    - Expand the Active Loader Status folder
    For Rollup statistics:
    - Go to Setup > > Management Services and Repository
    - Select the Repository Operation tab
    Hope this helps.

  • NetApp plugin for OEM 12c - DB is not on NFS mounted storage. DB Storage Perf Report empty

Hi, I have installed NetApp Plugin for OEM 12c (12.1.0.3.1) for a Netapp vFiler used for SMO. "Database Storage Utilization" and "Consolidation Database Storage Performance" empty. "Database is not on NFS mounted storage. Hence, no views available." - a. We are using ASM lun created on NFS. Does this means it will not appear in the plugin report ? - b. If point a. is true, is there a way to make the data appear ? I had already verified the BELOW. Only for point 4, I observed MGMT$DB_DATAFILES."OS_STORAGE_ENTITY" is NA (even though the ASM disk is actually on a NFS mount) : 1. Database discovery is done in EM12c . 2. Go to the database “HOST” target in EM 12c and click on the host target on which database resides. From host target drop down, click on “Host-> StorageDetails”. It will launch the “Storage Details” page. Please refer attached screenshot. There is a table displayed on bottom of screen and click on “File Systems” tab and check that your discovered database storage mount point is shown there. (Please note that whenever you define new mount point on host, this list should reflect the change.), otherwise, Database Performance views will not work. This mount point discovery is updated periodically. (It might be possible that DB views are not working because this discovery might not have finished) 3. Please click on NetApp Storage Target type and go to “Target HomePage drop down ->All Metrics”. Please click on “Volume List” metric and confirm if the volume is listed there on which database resides. 4. If all above steps holds good, please execute the below query on EM 12c repository and send the result: SELECT V2.TARGET_NAME, V1.FILESYSTEM, SUBSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,':')+6, (CASE WHEN (INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,'/',1,3) > 0) THEN INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,'/',1,3) - INSTR(V1.FILESYSTEM,'/',1,2) - 1 ELSE 100 END)) "VOLUMENAME" FROM MGMT$STORAGE_REPORT_NFS V1, MGMT$DB_DATAFILES V2 WHERE V1.MOUNTPOINT = V2.OS_STORAGE_ENTITY and V2.TARGET_NAME=''

Hi Aik, Change in SQLs will not work. There is lot of code for data discovery. We need to have discovery mechanism integrated in our plug-in for ASM LUNS.ASM LUN based database discovery has been planned to support in future release of plug-ins. Can you please share following details about OEM plug-in usage:1. Company Name2. ONTAP OS (cDOT / 7-mode which version)3. Nature of Databases (Only ASM or NFS based)4. Are your currently using this plug-in for NFS databases? If yes, how it helps to simplify your database administration. We will share your feedback to Product Management for support of ASM. Regards,Sachin Maheshwari

  • OEM 12c E-Business Suite Plugin Issue

    Hello All,
I am currently new to OEM 12c, and I have the latest version installed and running, Version     12.1.0.2.0. I can't seem to find any helpful info on the errors concerning EM-04001 and EM-04026. I did see that there was a bug fix which was required, bug number 13242773. But reading the ReadMe says this is only for OEM version 12.1.0.1.0.
So, my question is, has anyone run into this problem, or have any suggestions on how to get this plug-in deployed successfully?
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hello,
I haven’t run into the same errors you have reported but, let me share with you our recommended way of installing E-Business Suite Plug-in. Start by referencing our “Getting Start” MOS note 1434392.1it contains all the required patches, certification details, and related documentation. Once you are ready to perform the install start out by reviewing Chapter 2 - Installing the Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite of our Oracle Application Management Pack for Oracle E-Business Suite Guide Release 12.1.0.1.0. Here is a direct link -http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/doc.121/e28715.pdf
If after following the above steps you are still encountering errors then open a Service Request with Oracle Support.

  • Facing error while creating report in OEM 12c Cloud Control

    Hi All,
I want to create a report in OEM 12c Cloud Control in Information Publisher. I have select element as "Table from SQL" and want to select data from "gc$metric_values_latest" view. But when I am writing a sql statement like..
    select * from gc$metric_values_latest
Then on execution I am getting the following error "Error rendering element. Exception: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist "
What can be the issue for this. Please suggest..
    Thanks in Advacnce!!!

Is this mean that we can not fetch data from gc$metric_values_latest view or we need to do some configuration in order to fetch information from this view. Because I am able to fetch from views like mgmt$metric_current or mgmt$metric_history
So what can be the probable cause of not getting access to gc$metric_values view

what I did wrong? how to start WLS server?

    Hi,
First of all with EM 12.1.0.x any version you are not required to install wls separately, we have single installer for em and wls. Is there any specific reason you installer wls separately?
Coming back to your issue: can you check
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istart oms completes successfully.
    %OMS_HOME%\BIN>emctl istop oms completes successfully.
Also open an SR with Oracle support and share the number. We should debug such issue through SR so that we can share logs and come find a root cause.

As per Oracle® Enterprise Manager Command Line Interface 12c Release 1 (12.1) document ( http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/em.121/e17786/cli.htm ), after the EM CLI Client is installed basic operational verbs like 'add_mp_to_mpa " can be used to create managenment plug-in archive. But when i am using this command with OEM 12C EM CLI command line tool it throws following error
+Error: The command name "add_mp_to_mpa" is not a recognized command.+
+Run the "help" command for a list of recognized commands.+
+You may also need to run the "sync" command to synchronize with the current OMS+.
I also used sync command to sync with my OMS server. The sync command ran successfully with output "Synchronized successfully" .
When i use help command("emcli help") to see the list of command it supports, it doesn't list this ('add_mp_to_mpa ') verb.
Please tell me how can i use this particular verb to create my own management plug-in archive(.jar file) in 12 C.

"add_mp_to_mpa" verb is no longer an emcli verb in EM 12c. The plug-in framework has changed EM 12c. If necessary, please see the following doc for information on packaging and deploying a plug-in.

  • Convert custom management plug-in in OEM 11g to OEM 12c compatible plug-in

    Hi All,
We have a custom plug-in developed and deployed in OEM 11g. We are planning to move to OEM 12c(12.1.0.4) and installing OEM 12c(fresh install) in a new host instead of migrating existing 11g to 12c as part of upgrade process.
Now question is what are the options if I want to use existing 11g custom plug-in in OEM 12c ? As I understand 11g plug-ins are jar file but OEM 12c plug-ins are OPAR files.
Can we export plug-in from OEM 11g and import directly in OEM 12c or if there are any steps to conver 11g plugin to 12c plugin before importing it in 12c.
Please suggest the options available without re-developing the plug-ins for OEM 12c.
    Thanks

To overwrite and update your current custom plug-in update that is stored in a repository, use the overwrite option.
    $emcli create_custom_plugin_update
    -agent_name="agent_name"
    -plugin_id="plugin_id"
    [-overwrite]
This command creates and imports a custom plug-in update from an existing Management Agent where the selected plug-in is deployed. The custom plug-in update will be used for all subsequent plug-in deployments on any Management Agent, in place of Oracle supplied versions.
Custom plug-in update is created as per plug-in type. If a custom plug-in update is created, and after three days, a patch is applied, in order to include the patch, the custom plug-in update will have to be created again.
    $emcli list_custom_plugin_updates
