OEM 9i  migration

Dear All,
I have request from my customer for migrating OMS 9i from one server (Windows 2000) to another (Windows 2003).
Following is my project plan
1) Installing the product Oracle 9.2.0.8 in Win 2003 server along with client, Managment server with repository database.
2) Configuring all the targets and nodes in the new OEM framework as same as in the old one.
3) decommissioning the old server (win 2000).
I have one question related to this.
Do I need to do fresh installation of Intelligent agent in all the targets again which was managed already ( or) we can make use of the existing one. Kindly verify the above project plan and let also clear my doubt about intelligent agent.
Kindly help me in this to proceed properly.
Thanks.
Arun

*"Do I need to do fresh installation of Intelligent agent in all the targets again which was managed already ( or) we can make use of the existing one. Kindly verify the above project plan and let also clear my doubt about intelligent agent."*
There should be no need for new agents, but you will need to configure them again
Agent Home
$ORACLE_HOME\agent10g\sysman\config*"yes we can monitor 9i and below version through OEM 9i by setting up OMS ."*
My mistake in concept of words, in OEM i refer to Oracle OEM 10g, my point was, why dont you upgrade to new OEM console as Robert said.

The Software library is configured as OMS Chared file system at /orasrc. I want to move it to another location of same type under /orasrc/oracleaw_lib.
When I run the migrate job it failes for 12 files with errors as follows:
Exception occurred while migrating file: reason=Source file [orasrc//29/BA8F6EC04DA85C3BE0440003BA2CF590] does not exist. Check whether the source location is accessible.
I cannot find the siad file BA8F6EC04DA85C3BE0440003BA2CF590 under /orasrc/29. I did re-import of metadata after deleting all the filws inder /orasrc thinking that it will solve this issue. But even after the successful completion of the reimport of metada job, the migration fails at the same steps. I have 12c running on Solaris 5.10 64 bit platform.
    Any idea whatmay be wrong?
    Appreciate your time,

  • Migrating to new OEM

    Hi Gurus,
We have 10g OEM and 11g OEM(newly installed)
many production databases are registered with 10g OEM. we are planning to move to new OEM.
how to migrate the targets to new OEM?
    any help will be great.
    thank you.

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/install.111/e15838/upgrade_em.htm
You can also upgrade using agentdownload script by using the option -u which is for the upgrade.
    download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/install.111/e16847/part_install_agent.htm
    ./agentDownload.linux –u –o <10.2.0.5.0_agent_Oracle_Base_path> /agent10g –b <11.1.0.1.0_agent_Oracle_Base_path> -r <oms upload port>
    Where:
    -u is for upgrade
-o designates the 10.2.0.5.0 Oracle Home filepath
-b designates the 11.1.0.1.0 Oracle Base filepath
-r designates the OMS upload port from the upload UR
after this process you have to stop the agent using
    emctl stop agent
    then run the root.sh file
    and emctl start agent.
I hope this information will be helpful.

  • Migrate jobs from one OEM instance to another

    Hi,
We have an OEM 11g dev server, where we are testing and creating many job definitions.
We also have an OEM 10g prod server, that we will soon upgrade to 11g.
Is there a way or a tool to migrate all jobs from the OEM 11g dev server to the OEM 11g prod server?
    thanks

It might be benefiicial to list more detail. What versions of OEM, assuming 10.2.0.5? What version of DB, in our case it was 10.1.0.4.0.
Our path was to export 10.1.0.4 into 11.1.0.7.0, then upgrade to 11.2.0.3.0 which all of our DB's are.
However, from Collaborate and from forums/communities, the consensus was it was better to install OEM 12c from scratch and skip 11g all-together.
So that's where we are. Installed OEM 12c on another server (we wanted to decommision our 10g server anyway).
Running OEM 10g/12c Parallel (Agents on different ports). Configuring as we go. OEM 12c I will say, at least IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) is a a complete difference from OEM 10g (rule-wise). Not that there are no similarities, just how you get there is a lot different.
    Anyway hope this helps!

  • How to migrate targets from one oem to another oem

    Hi ,
we have two gridcontrols as follows
    https://oemgrid1:7799/em/console
    https://oemcnt:7799/em/console
we have to move the 10 targets from one OEM ( https://oemgrid1:7799/em/console) to another OEM ( https://oemcnt:7799/em/console ) inclusing data ...
how to migrate , any idea ?

    A) Assuming that both the EM are of same version, then you cannt migrate data and targets from one em to another.
    B) Assuming that both the EM are of different versions like EM1 10.2.0.5 and EM2 12.1.0.2 then also you cannt migrate data and targets from one em to another. In this case you still have the option to undergo the EM Upgrade process which will automate the historical data and target migration. Read about EM upgrade : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/upgrade.121/e22625/toc.htm

  • Migrating OEM

    Hi there,
I've just picked up this project and need to pick some brains.
We have a single node install of OEM infrastructure database(10.1.0.4) and want to move it to a RAC/ASM install using 10.2.0.3 on a new server. I have been given a freshly installed, empty RAC db using ASM on the this new server.
    First question:
Can simply export/import from the original database into the new database and I will have an upgraded RAC/ASM enabled db? Or is migrating the management repository data a bit more complicated?
    Second question:
Where can I find documentation dealing with moving OEM from one server to another? I've looked, but can't find exactly what I need...
    Any help much appreciated!

  • How can I Migrate/Split itunes/icloud account for a large family now that they have family sharing

Ok, now that Apple has finally come out with family sharing I need to get things sorted out and I think it is going to be a mess. I have 6 family members (my spouse and 4 children) all sharing/using one itunes account. For parental reasons this made perfect sense. Now with the the advent of family sharing and such we have alot of sorting and migrating to do and I am very unsure how to go about it. Here is what we have.
    Myself - I have a 64GB iPad 3 and a 64GB iPhone 5
    Spouse - 64GB iPhone 5
    Children - x4 16GB iPhone 5C (pink, blue, green, and a yellow)
We have had one itunes account now for several years, we used to have x4 16GB iphone 4's and a 16GB iPod touch 4 so we needed it to be shared at the time. We all have different Game Center ID's and Facetime/iMessages are all setup to the phone numbers (aside from mine which also uses the itunes e-mail). We currently have 1 upgraded icloud account with 200GB of storage on it (love the new tiers). So here are the questions.
    1) How do I go about using and isolating all the devices so they can all use the iCloud storage? Right now if I try and setup backups by device under the what to backup there is no simple "Full Backup" option, they have all the categories separated. I cannot backup my daughters contacts without forcing a merging of them and so on. Same thing with Documents and Data. Would I need to setup a different iCloud account for each device now?
    2) iTunes Music/App purchases. Now that they have a family sharing function I am assuming it would be a good time to separate all the devices (aside from my personal iPad/iPhone). If I understand correctly we need to setup a new itunes account for each and link them with family sharing, does this then allow us to disperse/move items from a singular to the multiple account (at least a one time option to move around) or would it simply be shared off the original account? My daughter for example will be 18 next summer and as such no longer under our care. How do we move her items to her account? She has a lot of purchased Music. Now keep in mind I am talking about an account for someone who was 12 when she had her first device and as such needed to be under her parents.
I just want to state that repurchasing things is NOT an option, and to be frank,  according to Canadian laws pertaining to *licensing* we actually own the product if we paid for it and have the right to transfer the ownership thereof. This issue went through the courts regarding used copies of OEM editions of Microsoft Windows several years ago and they closed the legal *license* vs ownership separation.

Go to appleid.apple.com to manage the ID, sign in and select to the Name, ID and Email Addresses section, then change the birth date on the bottom right.  At the present time you may not be able to enter the correct birth date, but others have had success changing the year to 2000, or the date to 1/1/2001, both of which will have child ID status.

    Hi to all,
in our company we brought some Office 2013 OEM licenses and 1 Home and Business 2013. The problem is that i have registered the OEMs with my personal Microsoft account and now i need to register the Home and Business and i want to avoid to register it with
    this. Then, my questions are:
    1. What is the procedure to register a Microsoft company account.
    2. Is there the possibility to move OEM license from my personal account to a the company account ?

    Hi,

  • Upgrading To A New Hard Disk Migrating Data

Like many old MacBook users right about now, we're all thinking about upgrading our 60 or 80 GB OEM hard drives. Well, I went and did it and I have a few questions after-the-fact, not to mention documenting my experience.
First I chose the Seagate Momentus 160GB 7200.2 (ST9160823ASG). This replaces the OEM Seagate Momentus 80GB 5400.2 (ST98823AS). The reason for this is simple ... the OEM drive worked flawlessly and I was willing to spend a little extra to ensure continued performance. I also chose to bundle it with a CMS USB 2.0 external enclosure data transfer kit to re-use my old drive.
My first surprise was that the CMS auto-transfer software was Windows only, despite the fact they make a Macintosh back-up product. The second surprise was that there was no Apple auto-transfer options. I literally spent an hour searching the Apple website and built-in help and tutorials to find a way to do this. Thanks to all on this discussion website as I ended up choosing a third party "clone" software to copy my old drive.
Which brings me to my first question. Every-time I tried to use Disk Utility to make a disk image of my old disk, I got the response that the disk image failed because resources were in use. Is that normal? Is there a way to make a back-up disk image using included Apple disk utilities? If not, then Apple NEEDS to spell it out, rather than a one line blurb in the disk install manual they publish that says basically: first back up your data. Thanks Apple, big help.
So I ended up using Carbon Copy Cloner, for a variety of reasons. A. it's $5 shareware and B. it specifically got better reviews than SuperDuper ($27). As far as I can tell, Carbon Copy Cloner did an exceptional job of perfectly backing up my old HD. BUT ...
Now here comes the next question ... the CMS enclosure seemed fine, but between CarbonCopyCloner and the USB 2.0 interface, it took over 9 hours to make a disk image of my old hard drive!!! Is THAT normal? Would a Firewire interface have sped this process up? Is SuperDuper faster? I must admit when I then used Disk Utility to restore the disk to the new drive, it took another 6 hours, so my guess is it wasn't the software's fault. Maybe it just takes a **** of a long time to move 80GB data. If the USB 2.0 interface is the bottleneck, then I highly recommend paying extra for a firewire enclosure. Would love to get a definitive answer here.
The process of installing the drive was simple. Thank you Apple (seriously). The new drive booted right up and the system is as zippy as ever ... but you knew it was coming:
The new 7200 rpm drive ran smoothly and absolutely silently in the external enclosure when I was backing up the old HD. Once installed, I immediately noticed a new vibration. Nothing huge, but it's there when now it wasn't on the OEM drive. The whole MacBook vibrates, stem to stern. The drive also seems hotter under my palm. Seeing all manor of these "VIBRATION" issues on other posts, I would suggest that anyone upgrading to a new drive, install the HD first to ***** the level of vibration before going to the lengthy duplicating process. It also seems to spin constantly, which the 5400 may well have done too but was otherwise unnoticeable.
My question here is, since these drives are virtually identical, does the 7200 rpm cause the added vibration & heat not present on the 5400, or could I have less-than-optimal drive which might be improved with a different drive? Also, the last time I had a high vibration drive on my PowerBook G3 it continued to get worse over the course of a year and Apple finally replaced it under Apple Care.
All-in-all it was a simple and relatively straightforward process once I found all the pieces, that is and Apple did not make it easy. I chewed up a lot of time I did not have looking for instructions. I've been using Macs since the original Macintosh in 1984. Ah I long for the days when I could just open a disk, insert another, select all and drag the contents to a new disk and voila! An exact copy of the original. Apple finally gets an A+ for RAM & Drive upgrade accessibility. But they get an F for making the data migration process as complicated as possible, particularly for something as important as our data. I'm sure their strategy is for everyone to take their computers to the Apple Store for upgrades and anyone else should already know how to do it. Well, I would suggest that most of us fall somewhere in the middle. We can put the new drive in and backup our data, but like making a good cake, we need the recipe.

Doug, I appreciate your input, however re-installing OSX is exactly what I DON'T want to do. Not only would it take an extended amount of time to update from 10.4.6 to 10.4.10 but importing files from the old hard disk comes nowhere near copying over every modification I've made to my system. The idea here, as I would think with anyone upgrading their hard drive with a perfectly working system, is to increase disk space and just keep right on going without missing a step. WIth all due respect your suggestion is absolutely the wrong advice in this situation. The last time I took such advice, I found myself missing many of the system helper applications allowing me to access hardware and software and all of it had to be reinstalled as I discovered things were no longer working as they should have. I DO NOT recommend re-installing OS X to anyone wishing to upgrade their drive, unless you are having problems with your system or just want to clean house. Apple should understand this. The bug thing on the install disk is just one of the many headaches involved in this process. My understanding was that I cannot make a disk image from the install disk was well as being unable to restore. However, if that's possible, then I could have done what I wanted without using a third party "shareware" solution. I will check it out and report back. Call me paranoid, but I would prefer to keep my data backup in the hands of those who formatted it originally, i.e. Apple. I would happily use a proven commercial utility, but for something as routine as upgrading my hard disk, I shouldn't have to pay to do it. Time was, if Apple had a bug in their startup utility disk, they would have corrected the error and sent a replacement to all registered users. Time was.

  • Is Support for 9i RDBMS in OEM going to be dropped ?

How many customers run their critical apps on so called "old" 9i RDBMS databases ?
We have a few in our company. One of the reasons for not upgrading is because we have too much invested in it and the world appears to have become very change averse when it comes to continual migrations to new products. The old "if it aint broke, dont fix it" idea, where IT spend is tight, is actually proving to be quite a saving in the short term.
I am starting to see cracks in the OEM armour. The 10.2.0.5 agent has a bug that causes core dumps and other issues with 9.2.0.7 RDBMS targets. In some scenario's this is a ticking bomb where an agent happily monitors a lower release, then it gets patched and the monitoring tools start to hose the alert log and get incident management teams pointing the finger at the tools guy... Oracle's response is to patch the database, however in what world do we live in when a monitoring tool forces the monitored target into a patch or forget it mode of working? The development cycles in Oracle appear to be very much focused on "next release" productivity and are increasingly causing us in-life support pain in having to justify why they should fix bugs in their products that they sell us.
Given that there is little change in 9.2 where 9.2.0.8 is the last release and OEM 10.2 has extensive support until 2014, are we being sold short ? The support matrix for the agents at 10.2.0.5 wont certify anything less that 9.2.0.8 now, but funnily enough, they do support 9.2.0.7 as a repository for OEM... Without getting into too much "is it certified or not" discussion, I just think that OEM development need to tread carefully with "new features" where the cost of them is dropping old ones that were bought by the customer for a very specific reason.
Upshot is that running at 10.2.0.4 agent will support 9.2.0.7, and 10.2.0.5 agent wont do this without backport/engineering assistance which is being resisted.
So how can I support OEM if I cant patch agents to 10.2.0.5 ?
I love oracle products, I've made a career out of doing so, but I find it extremely frustrating for a monitoring product to be allowed to dismiss certain versions of targets under the banner of progress. Perhaps do this in an 11g release of oem, but not half way through the evolution of 10.2 !

  • How to do a CLEAN INSTALL of Windows 8.1 with a Windows 8 OEM Key

I have recently purchased a new C540 that has Windows 8 already installed on it.  I would like to perform a clean install of Windows 8.1 on this computer.
This is what I have done so far:
I disabled 3 things in the BIOS: IIRC, they were secure boot, quick boot, and something about "optimized" startup
I have changed my boot priority to put the CD/DVD drive first and any flashdrive 2nd
I have figured out my OEM Windows Product Key (this is for a Windows 8 Core/64 bit OS)
I have setup a flashdrive with Windows 8.1 on it
I tried to boot from the flashdrive...when I get the option to install windows 8.1, I click on it and very quickly get the following error -- "The product key entered does not match any of the Windows images available for installation. Enter a different product key."
I added a PID.txt file with my OEM product key in the Source folder of the Windows 8.1 install....I don't get the above error message immediately, but a screen comes up that asks me to enter a Product Code...my OEM product code (being for W8,  not W8.1) does not work while using a generic key (for Windows 8.1 Core) yields the same error message as above and exits the installer.
I then added an EI.CFG file that sets the edition to core, the version to OEM, and the Volume to 0...unfortunately, when trying to install Windows 8.1 it still asks me for a product key before installing...I cannot get past this screen even though (to my understanding) the EI.CFG file should cause the installer to skip asking for a product key...
It is important to me that I get to perform a CLEAN install of Windows 8.1...I do not want to upgrade through windows store...the only keys I have are a W8 Pro Retail key (for my laptop) and a W8 Core OEM key (that came with the new C540)...I am using a flashdrive to perform this since I knew I may have to add/change files like the PID and EI.CFG....
I would appreciate any help I can get in solving this problem...I am also willing to try burning an .iso with the PID and/or EI.CFG, but I'm trying to avoid trial and error with that since it is time consuming, requires an ADK, and may waste DVDs...I'd only make an .iso if (for whatever reason) that would work where a flashdrive woud not...

I have a new SSD drive and need to either migrate my old HD data, including the Windows 8.1 OS or do a a clean install.  I have obtained the ISO, prepared the boot for the flashdrive and downloaded the install software.  It asks for the product key.   I used the suggested BIOS reader and obtained "a" product key off the BIOS and used that it but (as above) it does not recognize the image.
How id I get my single Windows license onto my new SSD HD?  Reload, clean install, ???
How do I get the proper product key or confirm it is correct?
It is a new system with little data that I need to copy. I just want the operating system.  I have the driver disc that came with it.

  • Migrating a Single 250GB Drive to 2TB RAID 5 Array

My Mac Pro has the original 250GB hard drive it came with. I just purchased a Mac Pro RAID Card. My intention is to install 2 1TB drives, and create a RAID 5 with the three drives. Obviously the new set will only use 250GB on each of the 2 new 1TB drives. Once the array is fully built out, I plan on removing the 250GB drive, and have the array rebuild on the 3rd 1TB drive. This should leave me at the same place i was with the 250GB drive installed.
What I am wondering is that will the RAID utility now see extra space on all three drives, and subsequently allow me to create an additional RAID 5 set with the available space? I'm doing this in lieu of cloning the 250GB to a 1TB drive, boot from the 1TB drive, and then migrating a single boot volume to a RAID set.
    Any ideas is appreciated. Thanks.

  • Cfhttp: Migration of Webservice from CF 6.1 to CF 8.0.1 fails

    Hello,
our application is consumer of a webservice. It works well on CF 6.1 (Sun Solaris) for longer time.
Now we have to migrate to a new platform with CF 8.0.1 on Linux. The service returns "Connection Failure".
Because of security reasons username and password must be in the SOAP header. So we implemented the service invocation via CFHTTP.
    Can please anybody help?
We assume that the error has something to do with a wrong or wrong interpreted content length of the returned code.
Thank you very much in advance and greetings from Germany.
    Rainer
    Facts:
    - The physical connection to the webservice server is ok. Requests of us can be found in the logfiles there. It seems they are processed there normally.
    - If we send wrong XML data intentionally (invalid XML-syntax, wrong user name...) the returned data contains sensible error messages which comes definitly from the target server.
    - If we send correct XML data the only file content which is return is "Connection Failure"
    - There are no hints in the logfiles.
    - The sended data does not contain any special character.
    - The returned data can contain special characters (e.g. German umlauts).

  • Can I install windows xp via bootcamp onto my macbook pro 15"? The XP in question is an "OEM" disk but it is NOT branded to any computer brand i.e Dell. Thanks.

Will XP be ok to use via bootcamp?
Does it matter if it's OEM?

Technically it's Lion Boot Camp Assistant doesn't support XP, it is after all 11 years old, and is a booger Microsoft is even trying to flick off with hardly much success.

The hardware in question, almost invariably will run Windows XP OK. There might even be XP video drivers for this laptop, etc. but not the easy collection of drivers for XP specifically for this Macbook. The OP would  have to track down the drivers manually. But it is possible to shrink the Mac HD volume, boot a Windows XP disk directly and have it format and install on the free space created. But it's a guess how much of a rabbit hole it is to track down XP specific drivers for this brand new hardware.
But that's the alternative to "Buy Windows 7". Of course, you can run XP in a Virtual Machine, on Lion, however.

  • E130 - Migrate WIn 7 Pro to SSD

    Hi!
I have a Lenovo Edge E130 and I have recently inserted a 128 GB SSD into the extra mSATA slot in addition to the 500 GB HDD. Now I want to migrate Win 7 Pro 64 bit and my programs from the HDD to the SSD, in order to start the laptop from the SSD only in the future. The 500 GB HDD will just be used for data storage.
However, my migration efforts from HDD to SDD so far failed  I attempted it twice, using a) the migration option in Easeus Partition Master 10.2, and b) an image of partition C: from an external USB drive.
I assume that it could have failed due to the Lenovo setup of Win 7. There is a partition "Windows_7_OS" on C: and a "System_Drv" partition labeled with a "*". I don't have Win 7 installation CDs/DVDs, only those for Win 8.1, but I want to keep on using Win 7.
What do I have to do to successfully migrate Win 7 Pro 64 bit and my programs to the SSD?
    Thanks for your answers!
    Solved!

    Dear Alex5723,
thanks a lot for this helpful link. Now that I am back to a running system and to the Windows desktop, I will go on following the suggestions for optimization of SSD performance suggested there.
But first I had to solve some other problems. Here's the story how I succeeded to migrate Win 7 and programs from an HDD to an SSD, both of which now run parallel in my Lenovo E130 with Win 7 on the SSD:
    1) I installed the 128 GB SSD into the additional mSATA slot.
    2) Using the existing Win 7 system on the HDD, I chose Acronis True Image 2015 (free demo version available) to save an image of partition C: (OS and programs) to an external USB drive.
    3) Next I created an Acronis rescue CD.
    4) I have shut down the laptop and removed the HDD.
    5) I booted from the Acronis rescue CD and copied the saved image to the new SSD.
    6) Then I restarted and changed the boot sequence to first boot from the SSD and started windows. This stopped after a while before getting to the desktop with a blue screen telling me Windows was not genuine (build 7601). My Win 7 Pro 64 bit is genuine (pre-installed OEM version). The problem was that the new OS was not in the C partition. Apparently, you can avoid such a screen when you don't assign a partition and a partition letter to the new SSD, so that the space on the SSD just remains unallocated. That's what I did (made the SSD a primary partition, partition letter was E). The very easy and quick solution to that problem is nicely described here: http://www.anotherwindowsblog.com/2011/02/windows-7-not-genuine-after-disk-clone.html
    7) Now that my desktop is back again (everything looks and works like on the HDD before), I have shut down the laptop again and reinstalled the HDD. I went on deleting the old operating system partitions on the HDD and reallocated this space to my data storage partition, but you might prefer to do something else.
    8) Next step I will take is to follow the optimization of SSD performance suggestions that are included in the instructions Alex5723 referred to:
