OEM in Oracle 10g

Hi All,
I have installed oracle 10g on HP-UX 11.23 Itanium server. I have created two databases with different OS User. both databases are running very fine. But problem is that OEM for one of them is working and for other database OEM is not working. Both databases are in archival mode.
Please reply me as early as possible.

hi
some problem i was face yesterday..
u want to manage 2nd db through OEM but ur not able to do so.
first what is ur db name 1st and 2nd...
and what is way u use to access OEM if u use OEM through webbrowser then what URL u give...
if u give http:/"host-name":5500/em/console --- this is for ur first db..
5500 is a oracle port to access db through OEM..
then u find out ur 2nd db port. for u do this cmd.
u go cmd prompt
cmd>set oracle_sid = "2nd db name"
cmd>emctl status dbconsole
after enter this cmd. u will get URL AND PORT FOR UR 2nd database..
good luck

  • How to activate OEM in oracle 10G

Hi, I want to know how to activate oracle enterprise manager, not grid control. This is and old database in oracle 10g,
running in IBM server with OS AIX 5.3. It was unused, but now we need to execute some process in it, and I need a tool
    to help with this process.
I got other databases in other server, but they are in clusters (RAC), with these DBs I don't have any problems,
when I go to ORACLE_HOME/bin I see emctl, but in the old db when I go to ORACLE_HOME/bin
I don't see emctl. My doubt is, how can I activate OEM in this DB? Do I need to download something?
    Thanks for your help.

regardsAfter installing 10 , you have the OEM Version same as oracle software. for production database you have to buy license for OEM to use.
    start and stop the DB-Console
    $ emctl start dbconsole
    $ emctl stop dbconsole
    $ emctl status dbconsole

If anybody knows OEM client for oracle 10g ,Please provide me free download link
    thanks a lot,

If you are looking for the same interface as the 9i OEM Java Console - get the Database 10g Client CD. Be aware that the interface is deprecated and Oracle recommends you use the new browser-based client.

  • OEM configuration issue in Oracle 10g

    Hi,
I am trying to manually configure OEM on oracle 10g solaris platform (5.10). Earlier I have configured the OEM manually on the same server and then due to customer request de-configure it. But now again, I need to re-configure OEM on same server and facing issue.
Steps which I am following are :-
    -> Listener is started
-> Database is up and running.
-> Creating repository through command emca -repos create
-> Configuring the dbconsole through command emca -config dbcontrol db
At this step after providing the information of database name, listener port, Password for SYS user,Password for DBSNMP user,Password for SYSMAN user,Email address for notifications (optional): [email protected],Outgoing Mail (SMTP) server for notifications (optional): wbmlir1.mail.xerox.com, it is giving the below error that db console cannot be started.

  • Oracle 10G Non-Network install - OEM will not start when on the LAN.

    Greetings,
Got through a non-networked 10G Enterprise installation OK; I chose to create the orcl schema, connected to it through various utilities, added new tablespace, and all was well. I also checked my Host Name by pinging it in DOS, it showed me the IP address of the MS loopback adapter which is what I was expecting.
Once I connected the same machine to the LAN (and internet) and re-booted, for some reason the Host Name was now assigned the dynamic IP address of the LAN and not LAN2 (which is the loopback adapter that is assigned a static local IP address). It did this even though I had already added an entry in the /etc/hosts file that explicitly assigns a static IP address to the Host Name (as recommended in the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions). I also could not get the OEM to launch a webpage, run and connect to the orcl database after the re-boot; I am wondering if this is related to the IP address assigned to Host Name changing; maybe the Oracle agent can no longer resolve the URL for some reason?
In the end I find that the only way to insure I can have a working Oracle environment and be on an active network at the same time, is to bring up the Oracle environment on a standalone system first, and once Oracle is running connect the system to the network. Is there no way to automate this process?
The format of the hosts file entry recommended by the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions is as follows:
    ===========================================================
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
    where:
IP_address is the non-routable IP address you entered for the loopback adapter.
hostname is the name of the computer.
domainname is the name of the domain.
    For example:
    10.10.10.10 mycomputer.mydomain.com mycomputer
    ==========================================================
In my case since I am not part of a Windows domain (but am part of a Windows Workgroup), I added an entry in the /etc/host file that looks like the following:
    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    # For example:
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host
    127.0.0.1 localhost
    192.168.110.250 IBM-6AB1330E158
==> Note that I did not add the domain name to the entry I created since I am not part of a domain, I also used the format I found in the etc/hosts file which is:
    IP_address hostname.domainname
    - not -
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
Which is the format recommended in the Oracle 10G pre-installation instructions; this does leave me wondering which format is correct...
Thanks in Advance for any help,
    ADG13

I have not. I am hoping someone (maybe even from Oracle support) will step up and officially tell us we are either right or wrong in the way we are approaching this. From the research I have done on the internet it sounds like this should work, you should be able to have Oracle starting and running fine whether you boot connected to the LAN or not, assuming you have created the MS loopback adapter, assigned it a static IP, and changed the hostname entry in etc/hosts file as part of the 10G WinXP recommended pre-installation instructions.
And yet I find I have to start Oracle when I am not connected to the LAN or the services will not start correctly. If this is a "feature" then hopefully someone will tell us and maybe give us a workaround or give us an idea if this will be addressed in a future release. Having said that and in fairness to the Oracle product; being a developer I have other products installed on my machine that have special networking setup needs also, and in my case this could be exasperating or even possibly causing this Oracle problem I am having. To be specific I have software for 2 different VPNs installed so I can tunnel into 2 private networks. One of these VPNs require me to make use of a DNS Suffix (as shown below) which might be contributing to my problems, not sure. I also have VMWare installed which uses it own network adapters when it is running, so you can see how things could get a little hairy... at any rate, there is my 2 cents worth (or is that 5 cents? : )

  • How to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM

How and from where to Access Table Space Map in Oracle 10g OEM ??
    Thanks

    Hi,
first of all, the online help system of grid control is outstanding. Just click on Help in the upper right corner and enter "Tablespace Extent Map" in the search form.
    Result:
    Show Tablespace Contents Page
Each Oracle database is divided into one or more logical units called tablespaces. You can use Oracle Enterprise Manager to manage these tablespaces and create or modify the parameters for the tablespaces. Use the Tablespace property sheet to set general and storage information for the specified tablespace.
Use the Show Tablespace Contents page to display the list of tablespace segments that comprise the existing tablespace. You can display Tablespace Extents by choosing Show Tablespace Extent Map at the bottom of the page. An extent is a logical unit of database storage space allocation made up of a number of contiguous data blocks. One or more extents in turn make up a segment. When the existing space in a segment is completely used, Oracle allocates a new extent for the segment.
You can view segment extents by clicking on the link in the Extents column to display the Extents in Segments page.
You can display the Show Tablespace Contents page by choosing Show Tablespace Contents from the command drop down list on the Tablespace property page, the Tablespace View page, or the Tablespace search results page.
Note: Developers could only display the tablespace map to a maximum hard coded number of 30,000 extents. Tablespaces are often larger than that. If a tablespace is larger than 30,000 extents, the portion over that is displayed as Unmapped. To avoid exceeding the memory capacity of the tablespace map and to display the map without unmapped extents, use a search criteria displaying results of less than 30K extents.
For an overview of tablespaces, see the "Overview of Tablespaces " chapter of the Oracle Database Concepts Guide.
For more information about managing tablespaces, see the " Managing Tablespaces" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrators Guide.
For more information about managing datafiles, see the " Managing Datafiles and Tempfiles" chapter of the Oracle Database Administrator's Guide.

  • Oracle 10g (OEM)

I have installed oracle 10g 10.0.1 successfully yesterday (06/25/05), but this morning (06/26/05) when I tried to start the OEM(Oracle Enterprise Manager)http://namecomputer:5500/em it sent me to the following page.

The database status is currently unavailable. It is possible that the database is in mount or nomount state. Click 'Startup' to obtain the current status and open the database. If the database cannot be opened, click 'Perform Recovery' to perform an appropriate recovery operation.

Specify the credentials for the target database.

    Database venus
    * Connect As SYSDBA
I know the username and password for the Target database but I DON'T KNOW THE USERNAME AND PASSWORD FOR THE HOST CREDENTIALS
does anyone knows what is the default for the OS username and password for the Host Credentials which I am having problems ….
Thank you in advanced for your support !!!!!
    cc

    1. The HOST Credientials is the user name and password of the Operationing system user. This is used by EM to run processes that required OS privilege.
For instance, if you are using Windows and you normally log in as Administrator and admin_password, then that will be the entry for the HOST Credential. If you normally log in to a Domain name TESTDOMAIN and as a user called say TESTUSER then the user name it will ask for is \TESTDOMAIN\TESTUSER, then the password.
    You must ensure that:
The OS user name belongs to ORA_DBA group
The user has the Localy Security Poilicy "Logon as Batch Job".
    2. The Database Credentials is the Oracle Database Username and Password. If you want to do any EM task job that required DBA privilege, esnure you logon with a user as SYSDBA. Else, you can loing as NORMAL user.
    3. You need to ensure that the Oracle Agent is started to see the correct status of your database. When you logon to Grid Control, the fast that is shown the status does not mean that is the state at that time. It may take a logout and logon to refresh the screen. So, you can go ahead an try accessing the Database. You will be able to work alright. Just ignore the status at that time.
The best thing I will suggest? Read the Grid Control Documentations. It is important because it is completely different from 9i OEM

  • How to access Data Guard option in Oracle 10g OEM

    Hi All,
I have Oracle 10g ENTERPRISE EDITION on Unix envoirement. I want to setup logical standby Database through Data Guard technology. But when I brows through OEM I do not find Link for DATA GUARD????
    1) How to access Data Guard option from oracle 10g OEM.
    2) Does It come with Enterprise Edition OR I have to install it separately.
    Regards,
    Darshan

I am managing almost everything through EM Grid Control. It is easy to setup and configure.
Anyways, if you have read the documentation on
Oracle® Data Guard Concepts and Administration and setup your environment accordingly then you should not have any problems. Atleast I can assure you that your production database will not be affected by it.
Just make sure that you follow each step and read thoroughly. If you have spare machines then you can test and record your configuration before performing it on your production db. This link will provide you with the information on DataGuard.

If you think that way then you will never be able to do any new stuff since you will always fear that something might go wrong. Go ahead pal, try it on test machines and you will know that it is not that difficult.
There are real experts who help people like us in this forum and I know that they are doing a pretty good job.
    All the best.

  • OEM - Oracle 10g

    Hi
Is there any doc in detail for configuring the OEM web based in oracle 10g.
    Thanks in Advance

You should properly define what do you mean by 'configuring in detail'. emca is the command used to configure Enterprise Manager, and if you want to setup EM you can either use emca or use dbca, in case your database doesn't currently have an EM repository.
You should specify if you are currently facing a particular issue or if you are just trying to install it.

  • Oracle 10g client for the old OEM

Does anyone know where I can download the Oracle 10g client for the old OEM software. There is a download link on technet but it when you follow it ...it turns into something else....!
    thanks
    3PO

I used to 10gR1 version to check out change manager. It was indeed buggy. It was quite easy to configure though and bear in mind, that it's here only for backward compatibility reason. This won't be available in the next versions.

  • Ora-00604 while installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP SP2

I was installing Oracle 10g on Windows XP but the dbca was failling. So I tried to create a database manually.
But every time I launch this:
    "SQL> startup nomount pfile="C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\admin\XP10G\scripts\initXP10G.ora";"
    I always had:
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
I tried to change some memory value in the init*.ora without more success.
So if anyone has been had such issue; he would be an help for me.
