OEM issue

Hi,
One of my scheduled job in oracle enterprise manager 11g could not be run successfully,and the job status is "initialization error" it happens atleast twice in a week.
i haven't face any error since i use 9i,kindly advice me to overcome this error('INITIALIZATION ERROR")

OWB - OEM issue?

OWB - OEM issue?
We are using OWB repository 10.2.0.1.0 and OWB client 10.2.0.1.31 (Win XP). The Oracle version is 10 G (10.2.0.3.0). OWB is installed on Linux.
I find OEM (10.2.0.0.0 with oracle database ver 10.2.0.0.0) part of OWB program folder. As I start OEM, I creted the database connection in OEM explorer. I tried to loggin to created database connection.
I got “ORA-12541: TNS:no listener” error.
It was working all day in OWB/Sqlplus before starting OEM. I noticed OEM changed my tnsnames.ora file in OWbhome\network\admin directory using timestamp.
I came out of OEM session. All my logins via OWB/SQLpus/SQL developer results in “ORA-12541: TNS:no listener” error.
I checked via tnsping on command window, which results in “ORA-12541: TNS:no listener” error.
I restored my tnsnames.ora from backup, all are working except OEM.
Did anyone use OEM with OWB?
Any idea, what is going on ?

Hi,
over the connection goes not only the sql statements for connecting, also much auditing and logging informations goes from one machine to the other. So development and database should be as near as possible for better speed.
Perhaps working direct on the server will increase the speed?

Looks like the 'emctl' you running is for iAS not Oracle Database. Application Server EM doesn't have dbconsole.
Do
which emctlfind out which emctl you are running by default.
Make sure your ORACLE_HOME point to Oracle Database Installation and in your $PATH, Oracle database installation $ORACLE_HOME/bin is in preceding position not Application Server.

Regarding OEM Issue

I am using oracle 10G database in solaris os,whenever connecting with SYS or SYSTEM user in OEM getting error as Invalid Login Username/Password but with the same credential i'm able to login with sqlplus and doing the administrator task.
But Connecting with normal privileged user in OEM i'm able to connect through OEM .what is required to connect with sys or system user in OEM.
Please help me to fix the issue and thanks in advance.

OEM issue with RMAN

Hil,
OEM made RMAN work strangely.
In OEM, after I set some configuration in the "Backup Settings", I found that "Tape Drives" filed is automatically filled with the value: "1". I tested the issue on may machines and the result was the same.
Steps to generate the issue:
1. Login to the Database Control EM as SYS
2. Follow the following links:
Maintenace Tab -> Backup Settings -> Backup Set
3. Set "Maximum Backup Piece (File) Size" to 4 GB
4. Click on "Policy" link
5. Mark the checkbox "Automatically Backup Controlfile ..."
6. Set "Retain backups that are necessary for a recovery .." to 2 Days
7. Click on "OK" button
Now the settings should be saved. Click again on "Backup Settings", you will see that "Tape Drives" field is filled with "1". By the way, NO tape is installed on the machine.
On RMAN side, here is what I got:

i have seen this issue before , where oracle support suggests use
configure device type sbt clear , if you are not using media manager
or
use like , eg:
backup device type disk current controlfile
backup device type sbt current controlfile

OEM - Issue JVM Agent upgarde from 12.1.0.3 to 12.1.0.4 [CLOSED]

after upgrde from 12.1.0.3 to 12.1.0.4 I've have an host that continuing to send alert with this message:
Internal error detected: java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:oracle.sysman.db.receivelet.eons.EonsMetric:2190.
looking in more log I've seen this fisrt information:
Use of uninitialized value in string eq at /app/em/agent/core/12.1.0.3.0/sysman/admin/scripts/OH_Discovery.pm line 788
But the main indication that I've found was on folder generate from the alertt on the client (path: /app/em/agent/agent_itmiloraprd/diag/ofm/emagent/emagent/incident)
on sturtup.info is clear that trying to used /app/em/agent/core/12.1.0.3.0 instead of /app/em/agent/core/12.1.0.4.0 ....
Is there something that could indicate how try to solve it ?

Installation OEM issue

I install and config personal oracle 10g client at home and I am able to launch OEM at home but not at office. Do you know if I have to reconfig everything or what might be missing?

So you installed the DB product? In your first message you only said you installed the client. If you installed the db, you got the client with it and need not make a separate client installation.
Before we can proceed, you need to tell us exactly what you installed.
at a command prompt (on whatever machine is actually running the database) do a "lsnrctl status".
And do let us know some important information, like OS version, oracle software installed, including version to 4 digits

After Recovery Display Driver OEM Issue

Performed recovery on Satellite A505-6965 with help of Intel Rapid Storage Technology program suggested by Jerry. However, the display device that came with the laptop would not function it gave a code 39. I uninstalled but could not reload it. Went to AMD/ATI website but no luck. Where can get the software & driver for the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series?? Also same issue with Ricoh MS Driver & Ricoh PCIe XD driver. Please help.

It says Windows 7 there, but I believe it should work for your Vista x64 system as well.

SGA Sizing + OEM Issue+AWR reports

Hi Techies,
There is small application(Billing Application) running on Laptop. (Windows Vista 32 bit , RDBMS 10.2.0.3.0.)
1- We have increased the SGA_MAX_SIZE. Thought of Increase 700 M. Once we did the changes it has taken effect as 702 MB Allocated to SGA_MAX_SIZE. The same thing happened, while changing the SGA_TARGET Parameter.(After changed the parameter, it has added up 2MB extra).May I know the reason why the 2MB has added while changing the parameter.
2- OEM is not working , When it prompting for the Host User name and password, it won't accept the username and passowrd which I am used to Login into the Laptop.
3- After the generated the AWR reports, how to approach the finding , though it has many more data . Please help

If you're looking to performance tune your database, run the AWR report - preferably starting and ending at snapshots during which times there was a fair amount of activity, then post the section 'Top 5 Timed Events' here and I will point you in the right direction :-)
If OEM is still not working, you can manually take snapshots and generate AWR reports from sqlplus.
Take a manual snapshot:
BEGIN
DBMS_WORKLOAD_REPOSITORY.CREATE_SNAPSHOT ();
END;
Produce an AWR report:
@?/rdbms/admin/awrrpt.sql

Oracle OEM issue with RAC Database

We're have Grid Control 11g on Linux. The issue that I've is when trying to access the "Top Activity" screen for node 1 of a 2-node RAC cluster. The general "Performance" tab displays, but the graphs will not get past "Loading". Furthermore, when you click "Top Activity", the page displays but with no graph and the following error:
ORA-12504-TNS:listener was not given the SID in CONNECT_DATA
Access to the screens which aggregate all instances or to node 2 specifically seems to work properly. This is case whether the SCAN listener is running on either node.
We have a 2-node RAC 11gR2 cluster w/ ASM and 3 SCAN listener. This is HP-UX
Enterprise Manager 11g is being run from another host, this is RHEL5

OEM Issue: oemagent stops after some time on specific node on a 3 node RAC system.

We have a 3 node RAC system running 11.2.0.3 .
The oemagent keeps failing on 1 particular node and needs to be brought up every now and then. What could be the probable cause of this. Also, I have not seen anything suspicious in the agent logs.

Upgrade 10.2.0.1 - 10.2.0.4 OEM issue

Hello!
We upgraded DB from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 on LINUX redheat v.4.
We apllied the patch and then run DBUA. Everything went smooth.
But then we noticed that JOBS (that run throuh SYSMAN.MGMT...) don't execute anymore. When we create a job it hangs with status running, but actually nothing happens.
Any ideas what to do?

I am assuming you are referring to the database job under the sysman schema in the database?
Sometimes during upgrade job_queue_processes is set to 0 for the upgrade and not set back.
select name, value from v$parameter where name = 'job_queue_processes' ;
if the value is 0 then you will need to set the job_queue_processes so that jobs will run again
alter system set job_queue_processes=2 scope=both ;
If job_queue_process is greater then 0 then you will need to check the job iteself to see if it is in a failed state
select schema_user, job, what from dba_jobs where broken = 'Y' ;
if job is broken you should be able to log in as the schema_user and execute the job
dbms_job.execute (<job>) ;

Tiger, OEM issue

using gcc_select 3.3 and installing the client w/ the admin option I am UNABLE to add any databases to the network tree w/i ./oemapp console. Its all greyed out. I cannot get past this.
The only error I recieved during the install was:
"Error: Thrown when the IP address cannot be determined"
Any ideas why I cannot add a database to the tree?

ConversionManager - Override and Class Loader Issues

Hi
We are using Toplink 10.1.3 deployed withiin 10gAS 10.1.3.
We have overridden the ConversionManger as documented in tips.
1. MyConversionManager extends ConversionManager.
2. We have overriden convertObject
3. We have a pre-login SessionEventAdapter that sets the ConversionManager.
We have had issues of classloading within the application previously, particularly where we have two versions of our application deployed on the same App Server instance (potentially with differing versions of MyConversionManager).
For this reason we only set the ConversionManager within the preLogin event on the Session as follows:
*//Just set the conversion manager for the session.*
event.getSession().getLogin().getPlatform().setConversionManager(getConversionManager());
We no longer set the default conversion manager, as my understanding was that this would set it at the root level within the OC4J instance (meaning that each deployment would override the previous).
Additionally, we have had to sepcify the class loader to use, within the ovverriden convertObject method, as otherwise start up of Toplink falied, as it was unable to solve references to application classes specified within class indicator mappings. We do this as follows:

*public Object convertObject(final Object source, final Class javaClass) {*
super.setShouldUseClassLoaderFromCurrentThread(true);
The only know issue with this, is that if I try and use OEM to veiw the Toplink Cache, I just get and AnnotatedClassNotFoundException as it is attempting to use the system class loader (that does not contain our Application classes).
Two questions therefore:
1. Is the deployment we have now stable, i.e. overriding the class loader within the overriden Conversion Manager, and only loading this against the session??
2. How can I get mutiple versions of the application to still work, together with being able to view the Toplink Cache from within OE:M.
Any help or insight, would be greatly appreciated.

Looks fine, you may also wish to investigate using Converters in your mappings instead of customizing the ConversionManager.
For the OEM issue, try setting the class loader to be your application class loader instead of the thread one, i.e. MyAppClass.getLoader().
