OEM Java Console in 11g database server

Will Oracle support / include the EM Java Console with the client software of 11g db server ?
I really like the EM Java Console for monitoring couple of databases instead of installing the entire grid control and the browser based OEM (scroll pages and pages in some cases).
Thank you.

From past discussions, the OEM console will go away unless Oracle has changed their views on the java console. It remained in the 10g version for backwards compatibility reasons and because some components weren't in GC yet.

    hello all.
Do you know if there is the oem java console client for windows 7 and oracle 11g client?

    Hi,
With Oracle Database 11g, it provides Enterprise Manager Configuration plug-in, which automates the process to switch configuration of a database from Database Control to Grid Control.

  • Forms 6i against 11g database server - certification plan ? [ANSWERED]

Oracle folks, any plan to certify Forms 6i with a patchset against the upcoming version of the database server ? (before 6i ext. support ends end of Jan. 08)
We ported our Forms 6i apps to 10gR2 already but we want to support the 6i version of the c/s application against 11g database server.
    thanx

;) this is what I meant. BTW, this is not just a user forum but it is also monitored by Oracle employees, Forms product managers, etc. So, it is one of the "official" resources if we need an answer from Oracle Corp. This apply to any OTN forum. If you look at Metalink, folks are posting there and on OTN hoping to hear official answers. This is not an issue that you can create an SR. This particular matter was discussed on ODTUG and with OPN, and it was OPN related Oracle Employee's suggestion to post it on OTN forms forum. Thanx anyway.

  • Does the OEM 12c console show DB objects, same as old versions of OEM Java Console?

I have read all the documentation for Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control.  Does any piece of this product show database objects in a tree style, like the old OEM 10G java console?  Please be specific with instructions.

    Hi Dawn,
12c is more advanced with high end capabilities when compared with 10g.
Many new features were included, with lot more stack changes. The old 10g uses the AS as it middleware, but the new 12c uses the WLS (Weblogic) as its middleware.
To understand what is 12c and how it is different, follow the below URL:

    hi hussein/helios,
How do I install the standalone OEM web, for EBS with 9i, 10g, 11g database? I just can not stall GRID coz
    its so complicated.
I have seen it here in a forum before , which is done thru a patch, but I can not find that link anymore :(
Hussein give me that patch link before :), Can you help me find the link again please....
It is so hard to search key words in the forum.

    Hi,
By the way, If I use OEM GRID... Let's say we have 10 branches having each own distributed database on Linux, with
different database version (like 8i, 9i, 10g, 11g). And we are located at the Main Office. Is the ff. steps the way
    to manage them?ff steps means?
    1. Install OEM Grid at the Main Office (10.2.0.5). My Main Office version in on Windows XP PC. Is it ok? to manage
Linux servers using central Grid on Windows?Refer to the certification matrix in My Oracle Support website to find out if OEM is certified on XP or not (most probably not).
    2. Install OEM linux control agent at the 10 branchces which are on Linux.
    3. Each branches connect to Main Office via VPN like once a week, just to get/send updates. The above should be OK.
    Regards,
    Hussein

  • Oracle 10 drivers compatibility with Oracle 11g database server

Can someone tell me what is the impact using Oracle 10g drivers for 11g database? is there any differences using the ojdbc14.jar instead of ojdbc5.jar?

To find an article, go to My Oracle Supprt (formerly metalink) metalink.oracle.com and login. Then search for the article ID (doc no).
    https://support.oracle.com/CSP/ui/flash.html#tab=KBHome(page=KBHome&id=()),(page=KBNavigator&id=(bmDocTitle=Starting%20With%20Oracle%20JDBC%20Drivers&from=BOOKMARK&viewingMode=1143&bmDocType=FAQ&bmDocDsrc=KB&bmDocID=401934.1))
Somehow it's not easy to paste the URL to the new flashy documents!

  • Can we have 12c db console and 11g database.

    Hi,
Quick question on having the dbconsole version higher than DB version ?
Is it possible to have dbsonole 12c on 11gR2 DB ?
    Thanks,

If you are asking about the database hosting the Enterprise Manager repository, the 11gR2 is supported. See Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Basic Installation Guide 12c Release 2 (12.1.0.2)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24628_01/install.121/e22624.pdf
    Note:
The existing, certified Oracle Database must be one of the certified databases listed in the Enterprise Manager certification matrix available on My Oracle Support, or a database instance created with a preconfigured Oracle Management Repository (Management Repository) using the database templates offered by Oracle.
To access the Enterprise Manager certification matrix, follow the steps outlined in Appendix E.
For information about creating a database instance with a preconfigured Management Repository using the database templates offered by Oracle, refer to Appendix D.
The database can be on a local or remote host, and if it is on a remote host, it must be monitored by Oracle Management Agent. However, Oracle Real Application Clusters (Oracle RAC) databases must only be on a shared disk.

  • Performance Tuning For 11g Database

I've heard some Oracle DBA's suggest / recommend that specific parameters be tuned in the O.S. for using Linux as a dedicated Oracle 11g database server. I'm guess those parameters vary greatly based on utilization, hardware, and various other factors. I just wanted to ask if there are some soft or safe performance adjustments I can make which regardless of other various factors that are unknown would most likely benefit and or improve database performance?
    Here is what I know:
    - OS = RHEL 6.2 or OEL 6.2 64-bit
    - RAM = 4 GB
    - x2 Quad Core Xeon CPU's
Thanks for shedding any light on this for me...

ALWAYS read and follow the instructions provided by Oracle in the installation guide. It discusses the very issue you mention.
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e24321.pdf
There is even a section for 'Configuring Kernel Parameters for Linux'
After you read the installation guide and evaluate your own installation environment if you have any specific questions then post them. And if you intend to 'guess those parameters vary greatly based on utilization, hardware, and various other factors' then it should be obvious that you need to provide information on 'utilization, hardware, and various other factors' or we won't be able to help you with your specific use case.

In addition to using Oracle Enterprise Manager Database Control or Grid Control, you can use the Oracle Enterprise Manager Java Console to manage databases from this release or previous releases. You install the Java Console by using the Administrator installation type.

  • Not able to keep two OEM ( 11g) Database Console open at the same time.

    Hi Gurus,
I am running into issues when I try to keep two instances ( TEST and PROD) of Oracle 11g on the same server open in OEM Database Console.
The issue is when i try to loginto the 2nd OEM database control page on a new tab of internet Explorer ( when the Ist DB console is open in another tab), it close the first one and open the 2nd instance.
Also trying opening two seperate IE sessions ( without tabs) , still its logs out the Ist instance.
Any idea why this is happening and How could I have both the OEM DB consoles open at the same time. please advice
    Thanks
    Sheik

    Sheik,
There are two types of Database Enterprise Managers, one is Database Control(free tool) and another is Grid Control(paid tool). The one that you are using is a free tool with the limitation that at one time, there can be only one database which can be managed by it. For each database managed by DBC, there is a different port number assigned and only when you use DBC at that specific port number, you can manage the said database. You can check the initially assigned port numbers for the databases in the file *$OH/install/portliist.ini*. You can have a read about about it over here,
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28301/em_manage002.htm#sthref97
The Grid control can manage all the databases under one window only but its a paid version of EM so it can't be used without a proper license.

  • How to monitor oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server?

    Hi Experts
How to monitor the Oracle 11g database sessions on Windows 2008 server (other than SQL Developer tool), which procedure or query is taking more time with Java application.

Recently i found this tool- myorasql on the net to monitor the performence of database, easy to setup and check the performence.  i never tested it but seems impresive.  It is free and i think it would be use ful to you.
    http://myorasql.com/
You can also use Quest - Toad or sqlplus if you are very good at sql commands and all dictionary tables or OEM/EM grid if it is configured .

  • OEM Console for 11g

    Gurus,
Installed 11g ( both database and client ) on my PC.
But I don't see the OEM icon /application to start the OEM console (not dbconsole) as in 10g . Please advice.
    Thanks
    Sheik

The Oracle Enterprise Manager java console is no longer available in 11g, the only administrative console available in 11g is the web Enterprise Manager DB Control Console. Make sure you have selected the checkbox during installation to enable this on your database, or use the dbca to enable it if it is not already done.

  • MDM 71 - mdm console and clix - unable to connect to database server

    Hi,
environment, MDM 7.1, AIX 6, Oracle 10.2.0.4 (installed as part of a standalone java AS)
i've an issue. I have installed MDM 71 via sapinst, before that I installed a standalone java application server. During the installation, i gave the 'oracle client', 'oracle home' and 'oracle sqlplus utility' to be those of the oracle database installed for the java AS.
After sapinst completed I tested my connection to the database via
    tnsping <SID> = OK
    sqlplus system/passwd@<SID> = OK
When i start up the mdm console (7.1.02.90) i can mount the MDM server, BUT when I try to configure the database settings i get
error  'unable to connect to database server'
I get the same error when i use clix dblist
Error: 0x84020004, Unable to connect with Database Server
    Has anybody got any ideas.

To see why the MDM is not able to connect to database, do the following:
    % cd /usr/sap/<SID>/MDSxx/log
    % ls -ltr
You will find last updated log file with name like MDS_LogXXUX101224X164953.csv
    % tail -100 MDS_LogXXUX101224X164953.csv
You will see the reason for not being able to connect. If the reason is:
    ",MDSAdminServerXGetAvailableReps,Oracle_DBConnection.cpp,205,,,,server_user,server_global,,,
2011-09-23T06:10:48.933,6       ,24,"Service 'SID', Schema 'system', ERROR CODE=12154 ||| ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified
    OCI Attach, try again ...
Then edit the /oracle/SID/112_64/network/admin/tnsnames.ora with entry like following:
    SID.WORLD =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS_LIST =
          (ADDRESS =

            (PROTOCOL = TCP)

            (PORT = PORT_NO)
        (CONNECT_DATA =
          (SID = SID)
          (GLOBAL_NAME = SID.WORLD)
    then issue:
    tnsping SID
    If result is like
    Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (COMMUNITY = SAP.WORLD) (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = hostname) (PORT = PORT_NO))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = SID) (GLOBAL_NAME = SID.WORLD)))

  • Not able to connect to oracle 11g database source through OBI Server

    Hi,
I am having an issue regarding the database connectivity.
Iam unable to connect to the oracle 11g database through OBI server. However its connecting through SQL Plus with same username/password@hoststring. Its giving the error as :
[nQSError: 17001]Oracle Error code:1017,message:ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied at OCI call OCILogon
[nQSError: 17014]Could not connect to Oracle database.
Please help me out in resolving the issue.

If it's working in one place and not the other then it's obviously not an OBIEE problem.
Are you typing it in right??
Do you have multiple tnsnames.ora files pointing to different databases, maybe sqlplus is picking up one and toad & OBIEE the other and so the username/pw is wrong for that database?
There's a limited amount that can be said to help, as the error is 100% clear what the problem is :) it's just working out whether you're connecting to the database that you think you are connecting to, and then whether the username & PW you're entering is correct for that DB.
BTW OBIEE 10.1.3.4 is supported with 11g, and we're using it without problem here.
