Enivironment
Windows NT 4.0 with SP6,
Oracle8i EE,
Oracle Enterprise Manager 2.0.4.
After starting the console, I am able to connect to database in 'normal' mode. When I tried to connect to the same database in 'sysdba' mode, I get the message 'ora-01017-invalid username/password; logon denied'.
Username and password is correct.
I am able to use Instance manager with the same username and password.
I created password file also using orapwd.
REMOTE_LOGIN_PASSWORDFILE = EXCLUSIVE in init.ora
Can anyone help to go to a database as sysdba from console.
If I try instance manager from console, then also I am not able to connect as sysdba.

Are you using sysman and oem_temp
this is the default username and password for the Enterprise Manager
If any user has connect as sysdba he has to have the sysdba privilege granted to him/her
you can login as internal and type in the following command
grant sysdba to username;

I am connecting to the console ok using the sysman username.
Privileges are ok because I can connect to a DB using the SVRMGRL program and the command:-
connect sys/change_on_install as sysdba
This all works fine and I can perform dba commands.
The problem I am having is I can connect using OEM to a DB as a normal user, but not as a sysdba. I can use the SYS account and get in a a normal user, but if I then change the OEM option to login as sysdba, I cannot get in.
I have checked and the accounts have the dba privilage. [email protected]
