OEM software discount stores

Anyone an idea if http://www.applessales.com/ is a scam site. Great prizes for OEM software response on questions by support but not a convincing website

And you don't get a physical disk or anything.  (2.1 Download only.)
2.1 All software products that we sell are downloadable only
     2.5 Software cannot be registered on-line due to certain limitations;
     2.6 You will not be able to receive any printed license confirmation;
And as John mentioned, they tried to make their site look like Apple's, and the have a prominent " Premium Reseller" logo, but they don't put Apple in their vendor list!   (Well, you have to click the link that says "Toggle all vendors.)  But they only see 4 pieces of Apple software and they can be a " Premium Reseller"?
They appear to be based somewhere in Prague.  (At least the servers are there.)  None of this is giving me any confidence.  Run away now.  Run away fast.

  • [T30] WinXP Pro Product Key - OEM vs. Store Bought

    Here is my problem:
My wife has an older T30. The harddrive took a dump - it's DOA - and we can't find the OEM CDs.
I have a full on store bought copy of XP Pro (same version as preloaded to her computer), and the laptops product key. Logic dictates that I should have been able to use the laptops product key on my CD.
    Apparently not.
I don't want to reinstall this, I don't see the need, so there must be a way to force this sucker to take her product key.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks!

did you ever get your problem straightened out?  all you need is a restore disc.  i buy laptops on ebay all the time without os's.  i've restored xp pro with this disc every time.  you use the key on the bottom of the laptop.  chances are the os won't even request the key. you can use the disc over and over, "as long as the coa on the bottom is for xp pro".  if it says xp home, that won't work. when i have to restore xp home i use my gateway restore disc for xp home.  i've used these discs many times over and over.  it doesn't matter that it is a dell disc or a gateway disc.  it's for restoring an os that was already on your computer.perfectly legal, no problems with activation or validation. you can download sp3 from the m$ site.
the problem with all the advice above is they are talking about oem xp.  that's a totally different animal.  oem's are used by builders and reburishers to install os's.  i have an xp oem version that i bought and it won't install because microsoft changed the rules for oem software.  everybody needs to use different wording when they're talking about "restoring" an os. they need to call it a restore cd not an oem cd.

  • OEM Software....Is this Legal

I want to purchase DreamWeaver8 to do a Web site for a
non-profit agency. I want to make sure that the software I buy is
legal. I will not be charging the non-profit agency for developing
their site. I found a place on-line called ClubMx.com that offers
OEM DreamWeaver8 for a very low price. I'm sure it is too good to
be true. Is it legal to sell OEM software?

It's a case of too good to be true, don't do it.

I am looking for software to store photos with.  I am not a fancy photographer, and really am just looking for the digital version of a photo album. iPhoto is not cutting it, mainly because it does not back up and restore easily on an external HD.

That's how Time Machine and iPhoto now work.  Restore the library to one of the external HDs, check it for the photos you want, export them to the boot drive and delete the restored library.
If you know the file name of the photo you're looking for you can search for them in the TM backup using Find Any File.
My workflow allows me to do that:
1 - upload new photos to a folder on the Desktop.
2 - name the folder to represent the contents and date: 01/03/10-Toads Bday
3 - use a file renaming app to sequentially rename the photos in the folder to: 2010-01-03-Toads Bday-001.JPG,  -002,JPG, -003.JPG,  etc.
4 - import the folder into iPhoto creating an Event with the same title as the folder.
Now I can search for those file by file name with any app of my choosing.

  • Running OEM software from other than Apple

I am new to Mac and took the opportunity to upgrade to the dual core unit as the best way to go.
I have subsequently bought genuine OEM software that claims to run on OSX 10.4 or above; however, I keep getting the following error message:
    Cannot launch Java application
    Uncaught exception in main method:
    Java.lang.NullPointerException
I have installed all the relevant upgrades with no joy. Any thoughts?
Software in question is the 2006 Childrens Encyclopedia Britannica

I had the same problem. It turns out that Britannica is part of a whole family of software that won't run on the new Intel Processor Macs.
The Java library it relies on is not supported on the Intel Macs.
I have quite a few other programs that won't run either, like certain games.

  • OEM software lost after fresh install?

First of all - thanks to the whole community for the help I've gotten by simply browsing these forums.
Now, to my problem: My Powerbook had 10.3 installed when I got it, including OEM software like Omni Outliner and some image viewer I can't remember the name of(*), both of which I loved.
(* edit: I think GraphicConverter, but am not sure where I got it from)
Two weeks ago my hard drive gave up, and I now have a new one installed. I then installed 10.4. Now I'd love to get the Outliner and the other apps back, but am clueless as to where I could get them from.
    Thanks for the help,
    Petri

Thanks for the pointer; I found the versions of iMovie and iPhoto that came with the PB with this method. The other programs I was looking for are still nowhere to be found, but I've decided my time is worth something and bought new licences for the ones I really used.

Since these are oem version which is specifically design for your computer can someone answer the following guestions:

  • OEM software resellers: to buy or not to buy?

    Hi people,
this is the point of my situation. On the next year i'll take a degree in IT but i like webdesign, and in the while i'm going to do some pratice with tools as DW, PS. I'm sure in the next future i'll need also AI.
The problem is the price: i don't want PS elements, just for the fact that it is worth the money just for some time to come; the CS6 version is a greater version and it is a trade-off for tool/price ( CC is too expensive ).
So i would pay about 600 euros for the "Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium Student edition", on the Adobe store. (why AI is not sold alone?! i would just need PS, DW and AI.. they fork me to buy all the pack).
i've just found this OEM version for an amazing price.. please visit the url: PIRATE URL REMOVED BY ADMIN
What do you think about this? A very strange thing is..  that url

You sure that's not YOUR web site Jimmy?    Most folks wouldn't be so quick to defend someone else's site, whom they were calling into question in the very thread.
    I smell a spammer.
People who pirate software should be strung up by their private parts.  They take bread off the table of hard working software engineers.

  • How to configure Mail software to store all related files on the network

I know that Mail software stores all files in Library/Mail under my home directory. Since I have a MacBook Air (with lesser disk space than other Macs), I'm trying to see if I can get the Mail software to read/write files to a network folder instead of Library/Mail. I have done the same with iPhoto in that it looks at the library file from the network and not the local disk. Any ideas of this can be done for the Mail software? Or if this is advisable?

you can do it but I'm not sure if it's advisable. You'd have to test and see how well it works. also, the network drive has to be mounted at all times when you are using Mail, otherwise Mail will crash.
quit Mail. Mount the remote volume. copy the directory homedirectory/Library/Mail to the remote volume and trash the original.
then open terminal and do the following.
    type
    ln -s
do not press enter yet. press space and drag the copied directory from the remote volume to the terminal window. press space again and type
    ~/Library
the result should look something like this
    ln -s /Volumes/remote-drivename/Mail ~/Library
Press enter in terminal. This will create a symbolic link (it will look like an alias in Finder) to the new location of the Mail folder. Now when you start Mail it should behave normally. In case of problems, quit Mail, delete the symbolic link and move the folder back.

  • What is the best set up (hardware and/or software) to store and access movies and music purchased through apple tv without using the computers storage space

I have run out of space on my imac desktop, which only has 500GB of storage, due to the movies, music, etc. that have been purchased through iTunes and Apple TV.  I do not want to delete the purchases but need to free up space on my computer.  I am looking for the best scenario for moving the media to another source and still have access the media from Apple TV and possibly from ipads, macbooks, ps3, etc. within my house.  I have been looking at upgrading the Time Capsule to a larger capicity one and/or having a backup hard drive to the time capsule.  I would like to know what other people are doing to have these features without filling up their computer's hard drive.  Please advise.  If a media server other than the computer is needed please explain.  Thanks for your help.

Can the time capsule be set up to back up both the computer and the external hard drive, therefore creating a second copy of both?
Can the external hard drive be set up to store all the media which can then be accessed by apple tv and other devises as if the media was on the computer OR will the media have to moved back to the computer's hard drive in order to be viewed on other devises?  Another way to look at this is can you set up iTunes to find the media stored on the external hard drive and access it without moving the media back to the computer?
I realize this must be a problem for many people utilizing iTunes and Apple TV to purchase and view movies and listen to music but the solution does not appear to be easily determined.  I'm sure the first solution would be to just buy a computer with a larger hard drive but that is not the most economical.

  • Restoring OEM software

I have a TECRA A11-S3530 laptop purchased in 2010. MS Office Small Business 2007 was installed as OEM. The computer crashed and I sent it out to be repaired, but I forgot I even had the Recovery Media that came with the laptop.
The IT guy restored the Windows 7 OS, but not the MS Office. Would that be on the recovery disks? And, if so, can that portion be restored without wiping the whole system clean again? I'm in the middle of restoring files from Carbonite.
I'm afraid to just pop in the recovery disk in case it starts to run and wipe out what I've already managed to restore.
I do have the product key, btw.

If you use your Toshiba recovery disks to restore your unit to its factory default out-of-the-box setup, as per the instructions starting on page 72 of your User's Guide, it will return your unit to its original state. So, it will indeed restore the MS Office 2007 Professional, 60 day free trial your system came with. But, you'll need the Office product key you paid for to fully enable it again. Despite the work involved, this is, arguably, usually your best choice, as it also puts the Toshiba Hard Drive Recovery Partition back on your HDD.
Unfortunately, recovering to the out-of-the-box state will also wipe the hard drive entirely. Therefore, you will also lose anything you have recovered to the hard-drive since servicing.
But, if you have a separate data partition, a 'D' drive, and have your data stored on that, you may be able to use the 'Recover without changing the hard drive partitions' option, and retain the data stored on 'D' drive. However, this will also, at the very least, wipe your 'C' drive while rebuilding your system. So, if you have everything, or any data, on 'C' drive, this will also wipe out the recovered files stored there since the tech rebuilt your system
Let us know how it works out. Good luck.

  • Oem software and upgradeing to win 7

I have an HP dv9700t laptop and I'd like to upgrade to win7 when its out and my question is -  is there a way to install some of my software that came with my Vista laptop after installing win7 ? Like I would like to keep youcam ... My laptop came without any cd/dvd 's so I made the recovery set and I also still have the recovery partition on the hdd. Would I be able to install just youcam from my recovery disks??
        Thanks

You have a folder on C: drive..SwSetup,which contains driver/program installers.Copy it to DVD before installing Win 7. You should also be able to get some of your apps/drivers from your models page_but not all,so copy SwSetup.

  • OneKey Factory Default and OEM Software

    Hi everyone,
I want to reinstall Win7 on my v570 because I'm hoping to resolve some performance issues. I love the notebook and the stock applications that came with it: Bioexcess, Lenovo Security Suite, Boot Optimizer, VeriFace, etc...
My question is this: Will using the OneKey recovery app to restore to the original factory settings simply do a clean install of Windows 7, or will it install Win7 with the Lenovo applications and Bioexcess as well?
    Thanks,
