OEM versions query

We are putting together a proposal to purchase a server to host OEM. We need to support a range of databases from 7.1x up to 10.2. I am assuming that this cannot be done with a single version of OEM – investigations suggest that version 2.2 will support databases back to 7.3.4 up to 8.1.7, but I can’t find information on any older databases.
We are planning to install on a Windows 2003 server – could someone tell me which versions of OEM we will need, if these can be installed on 2003 and if different OEM versions can sit on the same machine? Pointers towards documentation will do – I can’t find any which answer these questions, but I always have been useless at internet searching!
cheers

You're right the docs say OEM 2.2 will support 7.3.4.
I'm not sure of anything pre-7.3.4
Something to bear in mind, that does work but isn't in the docs (nor is it supported), if you run OEM 9i and put a 8i agent where your 7.3.4 database is, then OEM9i will work/communicate with the 7.3.4 database. We ran that configuration for a long time a couple of years ago.
I can't see why you can't run OEM9i and 10g Grid on the same server (you'll have to have two separate databases for their respective repositories), just be wary of port conflicts. Although the default ports of OEM9 and Grid off the top of my head, are totally different.
Test OEM9i (with an 8i agent) with your 7.1.x databases, if it works then go for OEM9i. 2.2 should be avoided if possible, its not as stable as OEM9i.
Just the oracle docs should be enough to get you started, but your best bet is to rig a test configuration together and just see what is feasible.

  • WSUS updates not applying to Office 2013 Home and Business OEM version

    Hi
For some reason I cannot get WSUS updates to automatically install on clients running Office 2013 Home and Business OEM version.
    For example
If user opens any of the office 2013 apps e.g. Outlook , word etc, it prompts a message at the top under the ribbon toolbar; UPDATE NOW.
All other updates for OS are downloading and installing just fine from our WSUS server.
    What could this be?
I dont have this issue with clients running office 2003

First thing you need to do is be absolutely certain which edition of Office you have installed.
There are five editions of "Office 365" and these days, almost anything that is "OEM" is almost certainly Office 365:
    Office 365 Home
    Office 365 Personal
    Office 365 Small Business
    Office 365 Small Business Premium
    Office 365 Midsize Business
Office 365 ships with an activation code for an online management account, and authorizes the installation of the software on up to five devices. Office 365 is updated via the WEB .. ONLY.
In addition there are three editions of Office 2013:
    Office Home & Student
    Office Home & Business
    Office Professional
If you have one of these three editions, you should also have a DVD and a Product Activation Code for the SINGLE-PC installation which is licensed for these editions provided by the vendor of your computers. Office 2013 can be updated using WSUS.
Since you're getting a prompt IN THE APPLICATION to "Update Now", I believe you're looking at instances of Office 365, not Office 2013. Office 2013 (desktop) does not provide in-product prompts for updates/upgrades.

  • Can I install an OEM version of Windows 7 on my Mac?

I am completely unfamiliar with windows terminology. I ordered a copy of Windows 7 64-bit and when it came it said OEM on it and had all these warnings that it had to be preinstalled on a computer and I assumed it was like the software that comes with a Mac that you can only install on that one machine. I returned it unopened because I was afraid it wouldn't work. Since then I've read on these boards that OEM is a system builder, and it's cheaper, which is why I got it, and can only be used on one machine. But it sounds like I could install it on one Mac. I don't really care about installing it on more than one machine. So my question is, is that correct? can I install an OEM version of Windows 7 on one Mac? I wanted to check, because although it's cheaper, it's still almost $100 and I didn't want to waste that if I opened it and it didn't work. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. I plan to use parallels by the way, but I am posting on this board because it was suggested that you folks know the most about windows.

  • Can i load an oem version of windows on my macbook pro?

Is there any prohibition from using an OEM version of Windows OS to run on Parallels instead of a full retail version, for installation on my Macbook Pro?

There is one OEM type verison that system builders use, that can be used to install on a Mac via Parallels, VMFusion or the free VirtualBox.
The one from your old Dell or Compaq type PC that came with the machine isn't it, that's a vendor specific OEM version.
Of course the retail disks work too.

  • Can Acrobat MSP files patch OEM versions of Acrobat?

I have several computers that from Dell that have OEM versions of Acrobat standard.  I am trying to deploy Acrobat patches using group policy.  I have read the Adobe GP & AD deployment guide for instructions.  But I cannot get the patches to install.
I managed to get the an administrative share installed using the OEM 9.0 CD. Here is the command from my workstation:
    msiexec /a "\\server\Share\Software\Adobe\Acrobat\Acrobat9Stnd\Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard\AcroStan.msi"  /log c:\temp\acrobat.log
But I for the life of me cannot get the 9.1 patch files to update the distribution point.  The popup error is:
    Error 2203.database:
\\server\share\software\adobe\acrobat\acrobat9stnd\adobe acrobat 9 standard\acrostan.msi.  Cannot open database file.  System error -2147287035.
The second to last line of the log file is:

I have searched extensively on the forums and Google without any luck.  I have tried updating the distribution point from multiple computers with multiple different configurations.
I am now wondering if it is an issue with the OEM software version and the Adobe patch off the Web site.
    Thanks,

Problem solved.  I did a basic install of xp sp2 in a virtual machine without any patches or programs and ran it from there without any issues.  Thanks.

  • OEM Version of Windows 7

So I'm purchasing Windows 7 64-Bit OEM version. I had a pervious thread, but it was getting lost and off topic so I am starting over. I hate to be a pain. Just please answer yes, or no. Can I run the OEM version of Windows 7 64-Bit on BootCamp 4.0 on Lion? If anyone has done this please post here. Thanks for everyone's great help!

    No.
You need to validate with Lord Redmond in order to get security and other updates, thus information about your machine is sent to them.
They will know your running a OEM version (if you manage to get it to install in the first place) and likely cut you off after 30 days.
Buy the retail version of Windows
Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?

  • Doubt regarding flashback versions  query

I am working with Oracle 10g database on Oracle Enterprise Linux
I was trying this query both as sysdba and connected as the respective user .
When connected as sysdba I was of course appending schema name to the table name while running the query so there were no errors.
    SELECT VERSIONS_STARTTIME, VERSIONS_ENDTIME
          FROM emp_data
VERSIONS BETWEEN TIMESTAMP MINVALUE AND MAXVALUE
          ORDER BY VERSIONS_STARTTIME ;
VERSIONS_STARTTIME                                VERSIONS_ENDTIME  But unfortunately the query is returning null .
Let me know if any parameter has to be enabled for the query to work or what went wrong. The table of course has many transactions running and I was able to get the change through ora_rowscn but flashback versions query was the one not working.
Let me know if I have missed anything

    Prabu,
If the transaction is still going on means they are not yet committed than Versions query won't show you anything. Also if you have surpassed the Undo_retention andhave most probably lost the required undo data, you wont be able to get any output from it.So check these two things. There are no special parameters required to use this feature except for automatic undo management and Undo retention.
In the meantime, you may also want to look at this link for a simple description of this and other flashback features,

  • Flashback query works, but not flashback versions query

This is a test database (Oracle10g 10.1.0.5), not in archivelog mode. I deleted one row 2 hours ago. I can still use flashback query:
select * from tm_instances as of timestamp to_timestamp('STARTTIME_HERE') to view this row. But I can't use the following flashback versions query:
    SELECT versions_startscn, versions_starttime,
    versions_endscn, versions_endtime,
versions_xid, versions_operation from tm_instances VERSIONS BETWEEN TIMESTAMP to_timestamp('STARTTIME_HERE') and MAXVALUE
    It gave the following error:
ORA-30052: invalid lower limit snapshot expression
So I guess flashback query works better than flashback versions query?
undo_retention is set to 900 by default here.
    Thanks,
    Hai

currently function returns all mydate rows, i just want mydesired date rowsCheck if there is a column in the table with the same name as the function parameter. It's the most probable reason of such DML operations behaviour in PL/SQL procedures and function.
    Rgds.

  • Flashback query vs. flashback versions query

I have noticed that I can do a regular flashback query as far back as I have UNDO data available for the query, as long as long as the table definition has not changed. Flashback versions query, however, is limited to the UNDO retention parameter.
So, for example, if my UNDO_RETENTION parameter is set to the default 900 seconds, I can only go back 15 minutes in time, even if the regular flashback query shows data in the table from 1 hour ago.
Why does Oracle hold to the the retention parameter for versions query, but let you go back farther for the regular query?

Flashback query shows 7th Nov value and the next query shows 8th nov value..

  • Windows XP Home OEM version - help!

I've got XP Home (OEM) installed on my MacBook and it works great. However, I think it would be smarter to put it on my stupid PC (which runs slooooowly) and put XP Pro on my MacBook. If I erase my XP Home partition, will I be able to install XP Home on the PC, or will it refuse to take that serial number because I've already installed it on my MacBook?
I know nothing about Windows (I don't even know what OEM means) but I've heard that OEM versions are trickier and pickier than the "regular" versions of Windows.
    Thanks in advance!

    laurie1020 wrote:
OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer.
I have read (and been told) that OEM versions of Windows are for use on only one machine. You would have to purchase a separate disc for each install that you perform on a unique machine.
Good grief. The thing is, I only want to put it on one machine; I'm going to take it off this MacBook and put it on the PC. I'm only going to have it on one machine! Do you think if I called Microsoft they'd release the SN for installation on that other computer?
I got that PC from my Mom and it's really old. It was built to run Windows ME, but I'm forcing it to run XP Pro and it really doesn't like it. I think I'd do better to have Home on that PC and XP Pro on my MacBook. The XP Pro disk has a blanket installation SN for install on as many machines as you want (it's a perfectly legal copy; I bought it from my former place of employment for a song - it was an unbelievably great deal).
So, long story short (I know, too late!) can this be done?
    Thanks!

  • Installing OEM version 10.2.0.4

    Dear Friend,
I am trying to install OEM version 10.2.0.4 and I found that the fastes way to do it is to install the software and then patch it.
    I fallow this step.s
    1. install database binary and patch it to 10.2.0.4 and then create a new database.
    2. install the binaries of oem 10.2.0.1 and then patch it to 10.2.0.4.
    3. configure the OEM.
I have done stops 1,2 many times but I always fail in step 3 because configuration scripts can't connect to the repository database.
I have setup the linstern and database are up what is wrong and is those stops are the correct ones.?
    Regards,
    Khalid.

    Hi mnazim,
Regarding to your reply on changing the listener port of EMD in one of post here. (Installing OEM version 10.2.0.4)

The EM here (production) DB keeps on restarting. I tried also to install EM DBControl in UAT, the same procedure with what I did in PROD but PROD keepd on restarting while in UAT is not. Checking the netstat, this what I get.

    Hi All,
I am using OracleWarehouse builder version 9.2.0.2.0.8 and OEM version 9.2.0.2.0.10 and i am getting error while creating cubes in OEM. Is it due to different versions of OWB and OEM.
Please Let me know, if anyone knows about it.

    Hi Mukesh,
You do not need to create the dimensions in OEM, you can use Warehouse Builder to do this.
On how to do this, check out this viewlet: http://otn.oracle.com/products/warehouse/htdocs/OLAP_viewlet_swf.html, and perhaps take a look at the following whitepaper: http://otn.oracle.com/products/warehouse/pdf/Enabling_OLAP_with_OWB.pdf.
    Thanks,
