OEM Visiontek AGP GeForce2 GTS, 32MB DDR on MSI Neo2 Platinum as temp fix?

I'm taking my ATI 9700 Pro to ATI to have it RMA'd for some rolling interference lines. I've done troubleshooting and its the card.
Will I have any problems using this Geforce2 GTS AGP card as a temporary replacement while I wait for the ATI card to be fixed? I'm swapping it and I get $5 for my Matrox G400 max AGP card. For obvious reasons, I'm not keeping and using the G series Matrox G400 since it won't work in my PC with the MSI Neo2 and BIOS 1.4 etc etc
So any problems using this as a temporary replacement?

Forgot to do that! Its working fine though. I'll try to clean out the old ATI drivers. This is only temporary and I'll be wiping this system clean and starting over anyways.
So far its ok. Another troubleshooting verification that the 9700 Pro I had was faulty. With this gforce2 gts the rolling horizontal lines are absent.

When MSI could update 6330's BIOS ?

My Geforce card is running well on win32 system. So It will be in order.
I use the offical FC4 release, also the kernel is FC4's release version 2.6.11-1.1369_FC4. The Nvidia's driver is recompiled with Kernel's(2.6.11-1.1369_FC4) source, So there is no compatibility problem. There is no problem on compile-time, But errored while loading nvidia.ko.
As I know MSI-6330 had BIOS peoblem working with Geforce card historically, According to the BIOS update notes:
e.g.: on 2000-09-13 relaseed v1.5 BIOS to fix problem on Geforce 256 and MX card
e.g.: on 2001-08-03 released v2.9 BIOS to fix problem on Geforce2 AGP card ( I use this card )
So It already released serval BIOS updates up to v3.6, I'm afraid there are some hidden problems.

GeForce2 GTS refresh rate problem

I have a GeForce2 GTS (MSI Starforce 815) running on an IWill KK266 (KT133A chipset) and a Sony GDM-400PS monitor. My problem is that when I set the refresh rate to "optimal" it runs at 60hz. This is a problem because my eyes are really sensitive to the flicker. I can set the refresh manually to a higher static refresh rate, and I can then switch back to "optimal" and it will adjust properly to a higher refresh rate but upon reboot it converts back to 60hz (although setting still says optimal.) I have several other non MSI GeForce2 GTS cards and they don't have this problem.
Anyone have any ideas?
To help weed out the suggestions:
-running 350W Enermax PS, more then enough
-running Win98SE (don't tell me to switch operating systems please)
-Sony 400PS well within spec
-have run 3 sets of Detonator drivers currently 40.72 same problem with all
-I know I can set it to run at a static 75 or 85Hz but I prefer to have it adjust to the optimal setting for my usage.

I always set the monitors at 85hz. It is a great frame rate that is really easy on the eyes.

MSI GeForce2 GTS Drivers will not install

When trying to upgrade drivers for MSI 8815 VGA (GeForce2 GTS) using either the Nvidia or MSI download Windows 98 stops booting and displays this error in the dos screen:
While initializing device IOS:
ERROR: Real mode system memory allocation failed.
I have tried all the drivers available for Nvidia cards and nothing will install later than version 21.85. I don't have any versions later than that except what is available now for download.
Is there any way to get around this problem?

No, but RAM is 512MB though I don't have any problems with the cache size, etc. or recognizing all the RAM. I considered testing removing one of the sticks of ram just long enough to install the video drivers but wonder whether the same problem would happen as soon as the stick was put back in. The note on Microsoft web site refers to Windows ME and the cache size which again don't seem to be a problem here.

MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum with Western Digital 750Gb Caviar Green 32mb

Hi all, this is my first post and im a bit of a numbskull when it comes to upgrading, thus this post.
My HDD is on its last legs and I want to get a Western Digital 750Gb Caviar Green 32mb. Im not sure weather it will work with my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum (MS-7025). Can anyone help me out? If you have any suggestions for a better HDD to go for that would also be appreciated, Cheers

Burst speeds are high mainly because of the disk's cache. That's the only part of the HDD that can get near the maximum bandwdth of the controller.
The bottleneck for speed is in the fact that the HDD's mechanical properties won't allow it to work faster. With SSD's it is or will be different.
Back to topic: the WD Green is an excellent choice. I've 6 of those running here now, 5 in a NAS and 1 in my pc and they're simply good. Not the fastest, but very stable, quiet and fast enough.

Probably because the 3000+ only has a 9x maximum multiplier, whereas the 3200+ will go to 10x.
2600MHz at 9x means a FSB of 289MHz and ram at 289MHz for best performance. Will your ram do 289MHz? Of course you *can* run your memory and fsb async, but I prefer not to.

8x agp no can't do on K8n neo2

Well,
I threw in the towel and settled...After all my previous testing and thinking I had something solved with my video freezing it would only return. I have however FINALLY figured out what causes it and I have no idea what to do. My k8n neo2 platinum will not run 8x agp. The x800 pro is either A) flawed or B) the board/chipset/agp slot is borked. I don't have another card to test with unfortunately. I know, I know there is practically no difference in performance which is quite right. Benchies show really no difference between 4x and 8x but I would like the stuff I paid good money for to work at the specs its rated and advertised to run at. I have done everything from reverting back to old drivers, loading defaults in bios, different chipset drivers, more voltage to vid card, aperture..etc. etc... I WANT 8X agp darnit Anyhow...did anyone else have this issue and fixes for it? Is it possible the card might be borked (oh yes I have the 4 pipes unlocked on the x800 pro but stock speeds). Could this cause the problem for only 8x? Im at my wits end and about to ditch the board...
On a positive note I did manage to get my winchester 3200 to 2.4 gig on air with only 1.4 volts...Had it up to 2.6 stable on air but temps were to high with stock cooling..

My last system only had a 4x agp motherboard and was perfectly stable for a year with this vid card...after updating to the k8n neo2 platinum with 64 3200, I get freezing only in games at 8x agp. If I reduce it to 4x then its fine. And I don't have another card to test, but I am leaning it toward being the vid card cause I hear a lot about freezing and lockups with x800 series cards. I did understand the chance of 1 of the pipes being bad when I flashed it and only did it because I could revert back if it was unstable. Well in my other system it was stable for over a year and its stable at 4x in this msi board but not at 8x...I did all bios checks, agp nvidia/ati speedup disabled, and I this was all at not oc too.

Hi, I got an p6n platinum oem board, which looks different to the original board by msi. There are no heatpipes inside and the e-sata is missing and it looks like the p6n sli (without platinum). The BIOS ID: MSI P6N SLI Platinum A7350NM7 V1.08 110107.
Where can I get the BIOS update/is it possible to flash with original msi BIOS update?

We can not offer support for OEM products. Support is only available for MSI Retail products.
Remember, there may be slight design differences between the OEM version and the retail version. The retail bios may brick or distabilize the OEM version.

Hi, for my PC i have purchase an Video card Asus N7600GS silent, the problem is high temperetur GPU and PCB in my Video card after 3-5 minute also only entered in bios, in monitor it appears "VGA signal out of limit" and have black screen random.
Is incopatible problem ?Or AGP slot is damage or transistor for volt regulator of tension not work ?
Bios in mainboard is the last, i have also upgrade bios in N7600GS but same problem is unusable i do not want to damage the video card because work fine with Gigabyte nforce3 ultra

I am running at AGP 8x, and HTT of 4x with my system. No problems whatsoever.
A sig, with your system specs would probably help us along in diagnosing your problems.
A few red flags that usually cause game crashes:
1) Insufficient power (number one problem with most computers, with a64's the general consensus is 12v>24a)
2) Bad Ram (try memtest86)
3) Outdated, corrupt, or conflicting Drivers
4) Outdated, or corrupt Directx
5) Poorly written game code
I would check these first. My guess would be marginal, to insufficient power. I had a True 430 by antec in my system (12v=20a) and I would get random drops to the desktop, and system freezes, when playing games, upon upgrading to my curreent PSU, no problens at all.

AGP Geforce2 MX400 graphics card

I've just bought an msi 875p neo fis2r, and i have an geforce2 mx400 (asus V7100) which supports both 2x and 4x agp speed (no jumoper on the card to set the agp speed). Can i use this card on my new mobo?

I tried installing EVERY driver on the MSI site as well as the nvdivia one. EVERYTIME they ALL install PERFECTLY then they ask me to reboot, so i do, then right after the windows logo shows(during the rebooting process) it goes to a black screen with nothing written on it and just stays there.
note(during the black screen) - THE keyboard doesnt freeze up eg. numlock,CAPSLOCK and CTR-ALT-DEL etc etc still respond.
note- ALL THE DRIVERS install fine but after the rebooting process nnothing basically works. eg. cant change any settings such as res or ANYTHING.

K8N Neo2 Platinum with 512 MB or 1GB DDR? Which amount do you suggest?

Looking for personal experience and feedback as to whether or not its worthwhile to go for 1GB of DDR rather than my current 512 MB DDR. Also if there is a correlation between stability and DDR ram amount, I'd be interested to hear of it.
If my PC is the following:
1. Enermax CS-656-TA ATX case (Case fan, USB x 2 , audio I/O, Firewire x 1, temperature readout, fan speed control and 350 PSU all for only $77!! Of course, I used the 350 PSU in my fathers PC and for this PC I'm using the PSU below)
2. Enermax 420 watt noisetaker PSU (one of the most efficient) One case fan that came with and one Antec automatic with thermistor

Agp-8x radeon on msi neo2 mobo

am hoping someone has encountered this problem before.
i bought a neo2-pls motherboard and tried to have a radeon 9200 (128mb) video card run on it. on startup and with no operating system installed yet, the system freezes with a black screen and no prior display. this happens while on the video card initialization - this according to the d-bracket's led indicators. (agp aperture size is 64mb.)
if i use a friend's old nvidia card, i get to the part where i see the core-cell graphic and intel logo - which means, it runs fine on that other card.
i'm wondering if this radeon card is incapable of being the "first" video card on a new system; i.e., if it's meant to be installed only as an upgrade - which means i'll have to install windows using the nvidia card, then later upgrade to the radeon.
i was told this is a compatibility issue, but because i've already paid for the card and a purchase return is not a very clear option, i'm hoping i could get some answers here.
i'll sincerely appreciate any help i can get.
