Oemapp fails to connect to databases listed in tree

Whenever I try to connect to one of the databases shown in my tree in oemapp, I get a message stating: closed connection. This pops up in a separate box with a red bell on it. Anyone else have the same issue?
I have no problem with sqlplus, sqlplus worksheet, tnsping, etc, so I know my tnsnames entries are good and that the actual ability to connect is there.
Thanks,
Jeremy

As hard as this is to believe - this issue may resolve itself out of the blue. There have been other discussions about not being able to connect to YouTube with the built in app in the past - and sometimes the issue will go away in a day or two.
I still think the issue is with the connection and not the app and even if it is the app - you can't delete the preinstalled apps and reinstall them. You can restore the iOS which would put a clean install of the app on the iPad but I wouldn't do that just yet - unless you really want to try that.
I don't think this is going to help, but it will not hurt anything and it's easy and quick to do. Sign out of your ID, restart and the sign in again.
Settings>Store>Apple ID. Tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Go back to Settings>Store>Sign in and then try again.
You could also try resetting all settings - Settings>General>Reset>Reset all settings. If you do this, you will have to re-enter all app and device preferences again. It doesn't affect email passwords or network passwords - but things like your wallpaper and brightness settings - things like that.

  • Failed to connect to database ONLY at the first time

Hi all, I installed Discoverer 10g version and I'm using an Application User to connect to the server where's the Db is installed.
Every time I try to connect to the server with Discoverer Viewer or Desktop I have a curious behavior....
ALWAYS but ONLY the first time I try to connect I have the following error :
    - Failed to connect to database - Unable to connect to Oracle Applications database: invalid username/password.
If I try to re-connect again the second time it works perfectly !!....so, I think, there's nothing related with my .dbc file.
I tried also to write the ':' at the end of the user name....but it didn't work.
Into the pref.txt file doesn't exist a parameter like DefaultUserTypeIsApps to set....
Anybody have had the same "strange" behavior and found a solution or workaround ?
    Thanks in advance
    Alex

Thanks for your answers first of all !
At the end I found the solution looking at the Note:307167.1 on Metalink:
Discoverer Plus 10.1.2 Fails with ORA-1017 Error On First Login Attempt Then Works On Second Attempt
This note is very useful but into the solution the point 3 is not correct !
    3. Modify the servername parameter to indicate the fully qualified servername.domain
    Example:
An httpd.conf setting of: ServerName my_servername.mydomain.com should match a Discoverer Plus URL like http://my_servername.mydomain.com:7778/discoverer/plus
I had this problem both with Viewer and Plus...so instead to change the server name parameter (into the Apache/Apache/conf/httpd.conf file) with my complete URL (http://gnvdev.ote.gr:7779/discoverer/plus), I just write my right server name:
    Example
After the installation of the Discoverer 1og server, into the httpd.conf file it was written automatyically: ServerName gnvdev
I just modified in ServerName gnvdev.ote.gr and both Viewer and Plus started to work perfectly at the first time.
I hope that this hint will be useful for you and others in the Discoverer forum !!!
    Best Regards

It would appear that your archive location is full. If it is full, then try to get some more free space there by either deleting the old archives or specifying a different location.
I don't see any mention of a flash recovery area in the log message, but you may also want to confirm that you have reached your space allocated to the FRA.

  • Failed to connect to database

Several days ago, I created a workbook with 5 worksheets in Discoverer Plus 9.02 against a 10g database. Everything worked fine until today when I tried to re-saved the workbook into the database. I saw the error message that said "Failed to connect to database". When I hit the OK button in the error message dialog box, my sessions were terminated. Again, the error happened whenever I tried to re-save the workbook into the DB. I didn't see such error before.

    Hi Andy,
We are having a similar issue. We recently upgraded from 4.1.48 to 10.1.2.48.18. We are using Plus/Viewer. Imported workbook has several worksheets. Query runs but then receive an error stating 'Contact with the server has been lost...' I set the row retrievel to 20 rows but still get this error message.
Have you found a resolution to this problem?
Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12541: TNS:no listener

    Hello -
This is the error in grid alert:
Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12541: TNS:no listener (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach).
But the test of connection string in database configure screen is successful. tnsping works too.
    Grid version: 11.2.0.1.0, no patches.
    Target database version: 10.2.0.2
    Connect string: (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP) (HOST = s08) (PORT = 1528))) (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = S08) (GLOBAL_NAME = S08.WORLD)))
    Any ideas?

OK.. Are you testing the connectivity from "Preferred Credentials " setting page?
    Try to configure target from
Targets-->databases--> then select your database and click on "configure" button.
Enter all the details and press "Test Connection" button once it shows that connection is successful go to next page and finally save the setting.
Let me know how it goes....

  • OID Install fails - Cannot connect to database.

    Hi there,
I am trying to install OID onto a Weblogic domain.
The server is running OEL 5.8.
    Weblogic version 10.3.5.
    OID 11.1.1.6.
I ran the RCU, and had no issues. I then installed OID with no problems. I then tried to install OVD, but created it with a different instance home by mistake. I then removed OID and OVD, removed the schemas and removed the domain from Weblogic.
I ran the RCU again, configured just for OID, and ran the installer for OID.
The installer goes through all checks and "installation", but crashes during configuration. The step that creates Oracle Internet Directory fails. When checking the log file:

Does anyone have an idea on what might be happening here? I might be making a really stupid mistake :)
    Thanks in advance!

if MS is really doing good job then such things (scCm on remote sql) should be easy for us with proper docs. Cheers!
The docs are "proper". They give you all the technical details needed. They assume however that you know how to translate the stated requirements, like the ports necessary (as documented at
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh427328.aspx ), into the environment you are working in. They cannot give you a click by click guide because that would only be applicable to
    generic lab environments.
Sorry that that may sound a bit harsh, but it is reality. They simply have no idea what customer networking environments actually look like as the possibilities are simply unbounded. They must rely on the implementer being able to take the core technical
requirements and implement them for the uniqueness of the environment they are working in. In most cases, this is generally straight-forward, but there is a great deal of variety in the real-world.

ORA-15081: failed to submit an I/O operation to a disk
    Documentation on error says.........
ORA-02002: error while writing to audit trail
Cause: The auditing facility is unable to write to the AUDIT_TRAIL table. If this error occurs, SQL statements that are currently being audited may also fail. This error will occur if the SYSTEM tablespace runs out of disk space.
Action: Add space to the SYSTEM tablespace or delete rows from the AUDIT_TRAIL table. If these operations fail or do not eliminate the problem, shut down and restart Oracle with auditing disabled. This is done by setting the initialization parameter AUDIT_TRAIL to FALSE.
How should I check the system tablespaces ...I'm getting the error....and moreover they are autoextendible....Any idea about the issue

    You can check the space available in any tablespace with a query from dba_free_space;
Give serious consideration to moving AUD$ out of the system tablespace. Theoretically you can not do this prior to database 11.1.0.7 (where you can use the built-in package DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT.MOVE_DBAUDIT_TABLES). But if you open an SR at metalink they will instruct you to do it manually which keeps everything legal and supported.
    http://www.morganslibrary.org/reference/dbms_audit_mgmt.html
Also look into using resumable transactions (DBMS_RESUMABLE) to keep these things from happening in the future.

  • WLS Discoverer Plus fails to connect to database

I have Discoverer (server) running on a WebLogic Server but cannot get it to connect to my database. IE7 shows a page error in the lower left-hand corner when trying to connect from the Discoverer Plus login page. Displaying the page error shows a message like the following.
    Line: 1

    URL:http://myServer:7777/discoverer/plus
When trying to connect from the login page using Mozilla Firefox nothing happens, no errors displayed, nothing, just sits there.
I keep thinking this is an issue with IExplorer but not sure since Firefox does not connect either. Is there a particular log I should be looking at, if so then what should I be looking for?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, I have resolved this issue. It was a version issue with regards to the Fusion MiddleWare components I have loaded on my WLS. WebLogic Server 10.3.5 will not run versions of Forms, Reports or Discoverer that are lower than 11.1.6, at least that is what I found on my server. I had to patch my version of those components up to 11.1.6. All of these components now work fine. Thanks for your help.

  • Failed to connect Oracle database

    Hi everyone,
Could you please help me to take a look at the error below? I tried to conect the Oracle database server via OLEDB from another machine, and got the error below:
Oracle client and networking components were not found. These components
are supplied by Oracle Corporation and are part of the Oracle Version 7.3.3
or later client software installation. Provider is unable to function until
    these components are installed.
I collected some solutions about this error, and tried rename the "OCIW32.DLL" on the machine, or modify the security of Oracle client folder, but in valid.
Who can tell me how to figure out it? And what should I do if i got the error like "Oracle client and networking components were not found"
BTW, the Oracle client installed on my machine is 10.2.0.3, my Oracle server is Oracle92.
    Thanks
    Linsay

As "orafad" explained, there is no OLE DB Provider in Oracle Instant Client.
You will have to use the regular client, available on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/oracle10g/htdocs/10201winsoft.html
    or similar.
If you don't have a support contract, you will not be able to get the 10.2.0.4 patchset.
I have no idea, but maybe Oracle Data Access Components for Windows (Oracle 10g Release 2 ODAC 10.2.0.2.21) can help you: http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/windows/odpnet/index.html

  • Database patched 10.2.0.3-10.2.0.4 Error on Grid Control :Failed to connect

HI my patch was laready on 10.2.0.4 and just upgraded by databse from 10.2.0.3 to 10.2.0.4
though database and listener and agent are up and running at the OS
but on Grid Control I'm getting the error under
    'Agent'
Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-01034: ORACLE not available.
    Any Idea guys
    Thanks
    Gagan

I would check whether Oracle was still available. With the current state of Oracle software you never know.
If Oracle was available I would try to use sqlplus to connect to the database using the dbsnmp account.
If that works, it is SR time.
As you don't specify any O/S information, it is difficult to tell you more, especially as some releases of Oracle on some processors are flaky, and Oracle can not always reproduce the problems in house.

  • Not able to connect to database: ORA-28001: the password has expired

I started getting the 'password has expired' error in my SOA server log today (six months after installing my SOA Suite 11.1.1.4 development environment). I found a tip in an old forum thread:
Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-28001: the password has expired
and changed the password expiration time as suggested, and bounced my SOA server hoping for the best. But I'm still getting the password has expired error. Is there a way to clear that out so that I don't have to go back and figure out which user(s) are being affected and what their passwords should be reset back to so that my SOA environment will work again? Thanks!

    Hi,
Better to check the password_life_time unlimited for all your schemas, suppose your prefix is DEV you may have:
    DEV_MDS
    DEV_ORABAM
    DEV_ORASDPM
    DEV_SOAINFRA

  • Unable to connect to Database using Grid Control

    Hi,
I am attempting to connect to my Oracle Linux Machine which has 2 databases FROM my 10g Grid control which is on a Windows XP 32 bit.
Although I can login to the actual linux box with the host and database credentials ; I cant use the same to login to the database using Grid control.
I have tried testing the connection using Grid Control >> Preferences >> Preferred Credentials >> Host ; but its just not recognizing the credentials as correct.
When I attempt to startup the database using the host and DB credentials : ERROR MESSAGE : <servername> : <servername> comes up.
My agent on linux box is up. My Listener is running fine.
On my Grid control .. i have the DB, OMS, and Agent running as well.
Any inputs on this issue, I'd appreciate very much.

    Thanks for your reply.
Under Hosts on the Main Grid Console Home Page >> "server3.sam" Status shows UP. This server houses my 2 databases. But when I click on Databases >> it shows Instance DOWN.
    Status
    Failed
Details          Failed to connect to database instance: ORA-12541: TNS:no listener (DBD ERROR: OCIServerAttach).
I have verified that my lsnrctl status is good on the linux box. My target agent is up and running on it as well.
    So I try to start the STARTUP button >> I enter the HOST Credentials of the Linux box and the Database credentials which I use "SYS" (in upper case - just in case that mattered) and choose SYSDBA ;
    Error Message
    server3.sam: server3.sam
I created a new dba account and try to login ... dont seem to work ; I tried using SYSTEM account and even altering my sys and system passwords .. all turn out negative.
And the ANSWER to your question ---> Grid Control >> Preferences >> Preferred Credentials >> Database Instance >> corresponding to my database name ; I enter my sysdba username / password AND the host username / password of my Linux box >> TEST >> which also turns out negative.
This entry is auto filled in since I "checked" the box "Save as Preferred Credential"; initially when I tried to start the DB using the STARTUP button.
By the way, my Win XP doesnt really have a password set under User accounts.
    Any suggestions please ?
