Oemd_oms_csa_collector showing as down (10GR2 Grid Control)

The oemd_oms_csa_collector target is showing as down.
Yes I know its bug fixed in the next patch. Has anyone attempted to remove the target, edit the targets.xml to stop it showing up?

  • 10gR2 Grid Control with previous Agents?

I have 10gR2 Grid Control installed on a Linux Server. I want to use it to create a DataGuard standby database. The issue is that the primary database is 10gR2 on a HP-UX server using ASM and the standby database will also be 10gR2 on a HP-UX server using ASM. Will the 10gR2 Linux Grid Control be able to handle this since the agent on the primary will be 10.1.0.4? Note: 10gR2 is available for HP-UX but 10gR2 Grid Control is not yet available so that is why I have 10.1.0.4 agent.

Yes , it is able to handle

  • ASM instance in the cluster shows status pending in grid control

    All,
I have the ASM instance in separate home and the cluster database in another home .
I am able to see the cluster database up and running in the grid control but somehow cant see the ASM instance .
I will appreciate any pointers .
    thanks in advance

    Try these two things:
    1) Deployments=>Refresh Host Configuration=>Select the hostname and then hit on "Refresh Hosts".
    If that doesn't work
    2) Targets=>Databases=>Select the ASM Instance=>Configure

  • When will 10gR2 Grid Control be release

I have installed 10g RAC onto Solaris and have been testing various failure scenarios over the last few weeks.
I have to give a recommendation to the Director next week and need to know when GRID control is going to be available.

Based off my experience with GC 10.1.0.2, it might be worth sticking with 10.1.0.4 until the first patch for R2....

  • 10gr2 grid control not sending mail alerts

I am getting email alerts when the Agent is down, i.e. agent unreachable. When agent starts, get another email alert that alert is cleared. However, I do not receive any other email alerts, i.e. blocking session. The OMS Console shows the alert but no email. Already tried subscribing to rules. Support is still looking into it. Any suggestions. P.S. email test does work.

I had this same issue, but after running the latest patch, rebooting and restarting the database, it went away. Not much help, I know, but one of those cleared it up.

  • Snapshot report showing wrong instance on grid control!!!

    Hi
On one of the cluster environments, Even though I run snapshot report on instance 2, report shows instance 1. This i happening on one set of cluster environment. Other cluster instances are working fine.
Let me know if you have seen such behavior and fix...
    Thanks,

It does not matter how many instances you have running in a RAC cluster ... you have one and only one database.
Define your use of the term "snapshot." We have no idea to what you are referring.

  • Can Grid Control 10gR2 create a standby database when primary db uses ASM?

Does anyone know if Grid Control 10gR2 will be able to create a standby database when the primary database uses ASM for data files, redo log files, and archive log files but the standby database will use mounted disks? If it can, would it matter that the primary db will be a RAC cluster and the standby will be a single instance db?

I appreciate your reply and hope you are correct. Have you had a look at the 10gR2 Grid Control to confirm this or are you only going on published statements? The reason I ask is because previous versions of Grid Control claimed to support ASM but they would only allow you to work with them AFTER you had created a standby database manually but you couldn't actually use Grid Control to create a standby database from a primary database that had its log files on ASM disks.

    Hi,
If you want to use EM 11g Grid Control on 64-bit Linux, you should install version 11.1.0.1.0, which is available from here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/downloads/linuxx8664soft-085949.html
Note that the latest version of EM is 12c; however, if you still want to go with EM 11g, the following Support note documents the installation steps and has references to other helpful notes:
Step by Step Installation of Enterprise Manager Grid Control 11.1.0.1 (Doc ID 1059516.1)
By the way, the Concepts guide below has information about the EM 11g components including the OMS and agent:

  • DB target status shows "Up" in Grid Control console, but actually "Down"

We've recently installed Grid Control 10.2.0.5. We recently noticed issue regarding false status indicators for several db targets monitored. From GC console, db target show status "Up" (Green Arror) when db is actually down. Should show status as being down (Red Arrow). Is this a known bug? Has anybody experienced this behavior? Can anybody please advise and/or provide solution to this issue?
    Thank you in advance.
    Best,
    Doin

It seems that properties are missing..
    Follow the steps,
Login to EM Grid-->Targets > Databases--> Select the radio buttion for PROD Database --> click configure --> Provide dbsnmp password --> click 'Test connection' --> finish

  • Grid control shows process down but process is up

How can I correct this issue?
the processes are running, but grid control shows them down, is there a manual refresh that needs to be done?

the agent is running on a windows server.
it has been showing down for about a week, and it is still showing down, but all the processes are running.
while looking in grid control the arrow on the top left is pointing down, and red
but when I look further down the screen, I see that all of the arrows are pointing up and green.

  • Why 12C Grid Control shows Target status down/Unavailable?

    Hello,
The grid control 12.0.2 on Oracle Linux 5.9 shows that status of target /EMGC_GCDomain/GCDomain/EMGC_ADMINSERVER as down where as it is up and running and I can log into admin console.
Please note that repository, OMS, weblogic all components are on same server.
It is also showing that following are unreachable where as these are up on same server
    EM Website System
    Management Services and Repository
How can I diagnose and fix this? Where to start?
    Thanks.

Have you checked the agent status with emctl status agent? Is the OMS available there and when was the last upload time?
You can also try emctl upload agent and see if this helps.
Is the dbsnmp account unlocked with correct password in the target database?

  • Grid Control showing excessive amount of disk utilization.

    Hi Folks,
I understand that Oracle doesn't support their products 100% on non Oracle VMs, but I thought I might take a stab at it.
I decided to stick with a simple installation of Oracle Grid Control running on a Windows 2003 R2 32 bit os, here are the steps I took.
    1. Run Guest OS Windows 2003 R2 32 bit on a Windows 2008 x64 running Hyper-V (Yes I know why not EL5 running XEN, long story)
    2. Install Grid Control with Database and Agent versions 10.2.0.2.1
    3. Patch agent and oms to 10.2.0.5.0
    4. Some minor issues, but managed to get by those.
    - First off EM Website shows down, got to take a look at that, probably need to fix the beacon, not sure!
    Problem:
    - Grid shows that the host running em is over 100% disk utilization.
    - According to Metalink this is a known bug in Windows 2000 Performance Counters (not 2003?)
    - More specially Microsoft KB article Q310067.
    - Metalink Doc Id: 303788.1
    - Note, I'm running 2003 on a Hyper-V Guest, so anything can go wrong!
    The specific error is:
    Metric               Disk Device Busy (%)
    Disk Device               0 C:
    Severity               Critical
    Alert Triggered          Jun 3, 2009 7:57:54 PM
    Last Updated          Jun 4, 2009 3:48:48 PM
    Acknowledged          No
    Acknowledged By     n/a
Message               Disk Utilization for 0 C: is 587.86%, crossed warning (80) or critical (95) threshold.
    More info:
    - Guest is running on a Dual Quad Core Xeon System with 16 GB of RAM
    - Guest has dedicated 4096MB of ram
    - Guest has dedicated 2 CPUS
    - Guest is configured with a Virtual Disk (specifically partition c:\) to be on local Hyper-V disk array
    - Windows 2008 Hyper-V host disk array is in a RAID 5 configuration running 10k SAS drives
    - Windows 2008 Hyper-V host utilization is literary at most 5% (current is 1%)
    - Windows 2008 Hyper-V disk utilization according to graphs is showing 100KB/s usage (less than 1%)
Temporary solution is to turn off the metric, but not sure if that's such a good idea.
    - Note that 11g EM and 10g EM running on Hyper-V server had the same issue.
    - Note that 11g EM and 10g EM running without visualization had no issues.
    Any thoughts?

It may be related to Bug 8677212: BACKUP INFORMATION FOR SOME DATABASES SHOWS INCORRECTLY
Although bug info says it for HP-UX, I've also seen the same problem on Grid Control 10.2.0.5 running on Solaris.
You may want to apply 10.2.0.5.4 Grid Control Patch Set Update (PSU) [ID 1139563.1] to fix it.
    Best Regards,
    Gokhan Atil
