OER vs AIA Project Lifecycle workbench

Hi,
Is it possible to use Oracle Enterprice Repository instead of AIA Project Lifecycle workbench for actions like creation of Bill of Materials, etc
regards
Philip

Hi,
OER is used for the purpose of SOA Goverance in a large enterprise where multiple services are integrated to form a centralized repository.
Whereas Project Lifecycle Workbench(PLW) is a tool developed for the purpose of Design time & Deployment time repository so as to facilitate a common deployment plan for the whole product.
Bill of materials(BOM) generation is depend upon Harvesting your composites to PLW and Harvesting in turn depends upon a complete annotation of composites. Yes, harvesting can be done to OER as well but the its used for SOA Governance and not for BOM generation.
BOM generation all details are fetched from Lifecycle DB and BOMs are generated. BOM can only be generated with Project Lifecycle Workbench.
Hope this help you.

Rahul

  • How to import AIA Demo project into AIA Project Lifecycle Workbench

We have installed Oracle AIA 11.1.1.1.5 along with AIA Demo & OER. The question I have is - How to import (or harvest in OER terms) the AIA Demo project so that we can see the project in AIA Project Lifecycle Workbench as well as in OER.

This information is given in the Oracle documentation - Getting started with AIA Foundation Pack and Demo 11.1.1.2.01 Part No. E17359-01 - page 34 and other later releases as well.

Is it mandatory to Define project details and industry Details in Project Lifecycle Workbench before starting coding? How it is usefull?

    hi,
Please find the following details abt the Project Lifecycle Workbench in AIA 3.0:
This tool has no equivalent in AIA 2.x. The Product Lifecycle Workbench is supposed to facilitate functional experts’ process definition, decomposition, and service reuse during the functional analysis phase of a development lifecycle
Project Lifecycle Workbench to facilitate functional definition and decomposition of business process and to auto-generate the process artifact inventory
for more info abt Project Lifecycle Workbench AIA 3.0 find the link below which clearly explains abt it.

  • Project Analysis Workbench

    Dear Experts,
    Greetings to one and all.
I am using the transaction CNPAWB (Project Analysis Workbench). After executing the transaction i am exporting the file to my local system in the excel format. I edit some values in the exported file and try to import it back to the SAP system.
However when i am trying to import the edited file system is throwing an error as "OBJNR is missing in the uploaded file". I tried changing the layout of the screen in SAP with the object number being displayed, exported it to the local system and then edited the file again in my local system. Still when i try to upload the edited file system is throwing the same error " OBJNR is missing in the uploaded file".
Request all the experts to kindly help out in solving this issue asap since this is an important component in our implementation exercise.

  • ABAP Project lifecycle help..

    Hi all,
I am learning SAP ABAP and have plans to get a job in this field.  Can anyone tell me about the life cycle of the project like getting functional specification and then writing technical specifications and etc.. till the last stage..
    Thanks much in advance..
    Regards,
      -Ashok Hansraj

    Hi Ashok
    this information may help you.
This is a basic question but an important one if you are looking at careers in SAP. Technical SAP consultants are generally either programmers or systems administrators, whereas functional consultants bring value by combining particular business process knowledge, such as financial knowledge, with the "know-how" of configuring the aspect of SAP that pertains to that process knowledge. So for example, a functional SAP FI consultant generally has a financials background, and understands how to configure the FI tables in accordance with a user's business processes.
    <b>
The SAP Solution Manager supports you throughout the entire lifecycle of your solutions, from the Business Blueprint thru configuration to production operation. It provides central access to tools methods and preconfigured content, that you can use during the evaluation, implementation, and productive operation of your systems.</b>

  • Using SCM for project lifecycle

I'm investigating the use of version management tools for a forthcoming migration from forms/reports client server to an ADF J2EE architecture. We currently use PVCS purely to manage source code versioning, but I'd be keen to find ways to manage more of our deliverables. Does anyone use SCM for word docs, designer diagrams (ER diags, process models), etc? Would you recommend it?
    thanks,
    Michael

    Dear Michael,
For any object that you use Designer to maintain - such as Entity definitions, Tables, Modules and Diagrams, Oracle SCM is really the only way to do Version Control. There is no realistic scenario that involves extracting such definitions to a file, do file based version control and restore the object from a file to revert to a specific version. When you have Designer 6i or beyond installed, you have SCM's version control at your disposal and it is a no-brainer to actually start using it.
For managing files, the story is a little different: Oracle SCM is perfectly capable of doing pretty advanced Version Control of any object, including files. However, doing file based SCM and Version Control is something many tools are good at. Oracle SCM is no worse than most and probably better than some. However, I would not recommend moving from any existing, more or less satisfying file based version control tool to Oracle SCM - given Oracle's strategic position on the tool: it will not be enhanced in any way, merely supported for some time to come. As long as you use Designer, it is perfectly alright to use Oracle SCM for Designer Objects. However, no one will or should start using Oracle SCM when they are not using Oracle Designer.
    best regardsm

  • AIA FP 11g - Service Constructor Question

    Hi All,
I am trying to create the Provider ABCS impl using the Service Constructor. I have defined the Solution Service Component in the AIA Project Lifecycle Workbench as BAERP Create Purchase Order List Ebiz Provider ABCS. The CreatePurchaseOrderList method of the PurchaseOrderEBS will invoke this ABCS with a list of Purchase Orders.
To create the Service Contructor, these are the steps that I follow,
    1. Create New Project -> Business Tier -> AIA -> AIA Service Component Project
    2. Service Description: Select the Solution Service Component from the AIA Project Lifecycle Workbench
    3. Service Details: Product Code: Ebiz, Application Name: Ebiz, Application Id: EBIZ_01, Application Short Name: Ebiz, Service Operation: Create, Service Type: Provider ABCS ( Only relevant attributes are given)
    4. Service Object: WSDL: Select PurchaseOrderEBSV1.wsdl from EnterpriseBusinessServiceLibrary, Operations: CreatePurchaseOrderList
    5. Target Service Details: I am selecting the wsdl of a deployed composite, which inserts a list of Purchase Orders into a database, Operations: Process
    6. I click Finish - The ABCS as well as the BPEL process that gets created is CreatePurchaseOrderEbizProvABCSImpl, where as I was expecting it to be created as CreatePurchaseOrderListEbizProvABCSImpl.
Did I miss something here, or should I be referring to the ABCS as CreatePurchaseOrderEbizProvABCSImpl?
    Regards,
    Anish.

    Hi,
Check the Object Name field in Step 4 of Service Constructor. Ensure it is PurchaseOrderList, If it was jus PurchaseOrder you edit and append List to it.
After Finish, your Prov ABCS will be named as CreatePurchaseOrderListEbizProvABCSImpl.

one possibility, in the cluster environment, the jndi port should point to the admin port, and your admin console should have the jdbc data source defined.

  • AIA 11g installation

    Hello,
Could you explain me the use of oracle service registry in AIA 11g ?
Is it mandatory ? If not, how OSR is replaced in AIA11g ?
Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.
    -Rupesh
    http://orachat.com

    Hi,
OSR is no more in use in AIA 11g.
AIA Foundation pack comes up with two new features for registering the services & AIA components.
    1. Project Lifecycle Workbench(PLW)
    2. Oracle Enterprise Repository.(OER)
AIA leverages harvesting the services in the above mentioned utilities. Harvesting the services in PLW & OER are done through ant scripts which comes along with Foundation pack.
I hope this answers your question.

  • Unable to Create Requestor ABCS using AIA Constructor in Jdev 11.1.1.2

    Hi Gurus,
I'm currently trying to create ABCS Requester with J developer 11.1.1.2 using the AIA Service Constructor.
The Composite Application shows the BPEL Component and the target services under the Composite screen. When we click on the BPEL Component we dont the process flow.
    Steps Followed
    1. Create project in Project Lifecycle Workbench
2.Using the AIA Service Constructor connect to the AIA_LIFECYCLE Workbench.
    3.Select the RequestorABCS Service
4.Filled out all the ApplicationName,ShortName,Service Version etc on Step 3 of 8
    5. Selected the Service Operation as Query.
6.Under ABM import the Custom XSD structure and provided the Input and output message
7.Select the message pattern as request/response
8.Target Service Step selected the Query Service (this would query the required Customer Content which needs to be mapped).
9.The the AIA Service Constructor creates BPEL Composite Component.
When we double and open the BPEL Component we just see the error handling and partner link information.
We are unable see any assign, scope invoke component on the swim lanes..
Has anyone experienced this issue while creating ABCS Requester.
    Regards
    Sabir

    Hi Everyone,
I was able to create Requestor ABCS in Jdev 11.1.1.2 by selecting EBS,wsdl as target. This is workaround you need to follow to create requestor ABCS where you have V2 wsdl available.
Looks like there is bug#9541128 assigned for this issue. And looks like it would be fixed in 11.1.1.4 version of Jdev as per Oracle Support.

  • How to provide GUID in Annotation (AIA 11g)

    Hi,
in Developer Guide is descriped, that the GUID-element of Service Solution Component Association is left blank. My question is, how to provide the guid? And when enter the guid. Must I have a look in the database? I didn't find the information in Project Lifecycle Workbench.
    Thanks in advance.
    Greetings,
    Marcel

    Hi,
I'd suggest you not to manually put any GUID in the composite.xml. When you declare a solution service component for ABCS via the PLW, the GUID is created and flowed to the Service Constructor for the ABCS' implementation. The intent of the GUID is to associate the ABCS implementation artifacts (produced by developers) with the functional-artifacts (produced by functional experts in PLW). It is not a MUST for other purpose.
In AIA 11gR1, we only provide such a support to ABCS. Canonical artifacts (e.g., EBF, EBS, and etc.) are a roadmap items at this point. Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on your description it seems like you have not set up your project and artifacts in Project Lifecycle Workbench.
From the documentation it is difficult to know what order to do things!
See here for some information on PLW: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/doc.1111/e17364/workingwplw.htm#CHDEIHFG
Basically you should goto http://yourserver/AIA to get it
Once you have set up a project, a task and an ABCS component you can then see it in the AIA service constructor.
As for deploying the AIA_DEMO, I havn't done it on 11.1.1.5, but I did it on 11.1.1.2
It used to be part of the foundation pack install but now comes seperatly.
Maybe start a seperate thread and someone who has done it on 11.1.1.5 can point you in the right direction.
Hope that helps, post again if you still have problems.
    Robert
