Firefox has been my default browser for years but lately I have been unable to use the alt F "find" function" to search for case names in case reports posted at www.austlii.edu.au.
Specifically, I was searching (using alt F function) for a particular case name (Hooker v Gilling) in a recent Federal Court judgment (International All Sports [2011] FCA 824) and was notified that it did not appear despite the judge (Jessup J) clearly referring to Hooker in his judgment. The same thing occurred in other cases. This has never occurred previously and therefore I wonder if it is a limiting function purposefully inserted to make life less convenient!

Seems to be working here if I look for Hooker

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Try one of your other USB ports. Be sure to insert it with the plated fingers pointing upwards.

'Find' function does not appear to work in TextEdit on .txt documents

Most of the time the 'Find' function on the TextEdit application does not appear to work on .txt documents. I have verified this by using Find on words that I know are in a document, and it cannot find them. I've tried different options on the 'Find' function without success. This appears to have started with version 10.6.8. Has anyone else had this problem since upgrading to 10.6.8?

Thanks -- but I swear it worked fine prior to either the 10.6.7 or 10.6.8 updates and now it doesn't. I'll just keep experimenting and playing around with it and see if I can get it to work. Maybe the new Lion O.S. coming out will fix it, although I'm not going to rush -- I made the mistake of putting Snow Leopard on right after it came out and had problems with some programs not working properly anymore (like Pro Tools, for example). Always a good idea to hold off until most of the bugs get fixed.

HT1420 What if the "deauthorize all" function does not work?

I recently added a new iMac 27 to my "fleet" and encountered the "you already have five computers" authorized message when I tried to authorize the new machine in iTunes.
After booting up a number of computers around the house and office, I managed to find one that I did not know was still authorized. I deauthorized it, but to no avail. Still getting the, "you have five computers..." message.
So I thought I would try the "deauthorize all" option in my iTunes account settings and start from scratch on the machines I still use.
However, it did not work.
I am very reluctant to try hitting that button again, as Apple makes it clear this is a "once a year" option.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Note: I have two devices and five computers associated/authorized with my Apple ID. This is a computer authorization issue.

These instructions are for 10.8. In 10.7, the application is called "Address Book."
Back up all data.
In Contacts, select
File ▹ Export ▹ Contacts Archive
from the menu bar, and save the archive to your Desktop.
If you use iCloud, disable contact synchronization in the iCloud preference pane. When prompted, click Delete From Mac. Re-enable synchronization. Wait for the contacts to re-synchronize, then test.
If you don't use iCloud, or if the contacts fail to synchronize, delete all contacts, then select
File ▹ Import…
and import the archive you created. It may take a few seconds for the contacts to be indexed. Test.
If you don't like the results of this procedure, quit the application. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, copy the text on the line below into the box that opens, and press return:
~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook
Restore the folder that opens from the backup you made before you started.

Try this. Sometimes this is all that you need to do to fix that issue. Check the outgoing mail server setting. Make sure that your username and password are in there.
Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Your email account>Account>Outgoing mail server - tap the server name next to SMTP and check in the primary server and make sure your username and password are entered and correct - even if it says that the password is optional.

By default, Acrobat DC for iOS displays recently viewed files. You need to switch to other file location (such as Local, Document Cloud, Creative Cloud) to delete, rename, move, or duplicate files.
You can switch to Local, if you would like to see the files and folders that are locally stored on your iPad.

Crystal Report for VS2010 - The Go To Page function does not work

When running a report into Crystal(VS2010), the Go To Page function does not work. Typing in a page number and pressing Enter does not take you to that page. The report remains on the current page. I'm not sure if there is suppose to be a button like the one in Crystal 8.5(VS2008).

As long as you are using the CR assemblies for VS .NET, the viewer (Win) should look like this:
Remember, the ActiveX viewer based on the Report Designer Component (RDC, referencing craxdrt.dll) is not supported in VS 2010.
