Of what Brand is my VGA???

Hi, I have a strange doubt.
I have brought a Creative GF3 Ti200 Card 1 year ago, and at this point all Ok.
During some tests in Sandra my eyes are felt on the VGA area. There was written :
NV20 64MB 128-bit (Microstar International Ltd) :confused
Microstar???
Bho
So , I've Ignored it. A day I've tried to Install Creative VGA Drivers for Nvidia Boards but those say that no Creative cards are installed. I've then tried to install MSI drivers and the Worked!!So I've removed the card from the case. The fan have the Creative symbol on it, but in the low-right corner is written MS-8851 , I've controlled on this site and this is an MSI board!!The PCB of my board is the same of the MSI one!!
But I have the box of Creative!!It should Be a creative card , instead is an MSI?? I'm confused!!
Another question, how I can update my VGA BIOS? I have problems with this one, that board is compatible with MSI bioses? I can use an MSI utility? Where I find MSI VGA bioses?
Thanks
Bye

Well, if you can't find the new VGA BIOS from Creative's website, then you might be out of luck. MSI's VGA BIOS can only downloaded (I'm not sure... but heh.. :D ..) off MSI's Live Update 2. And sometimes the software doesn't even work properly. So I never bothered to update mine.
This is a little bit off topic here, but did you noticed that Creative's video cards bear a strong resemblence with MSI's? The card, colour, and even the cooler on the GF4MX series looks very similar. I guess Creative obtains these cards and just slaps their own sticker on the fan  :D
Anyways are you sure you want to update your VGA BIOS?

i have question about hooking up an external hdd to a time capsule and still have my printer hooked up as well. Anyone got any tips for me, how to do it and what brand of harddrive that will work best for me 1 or 2 TB

You just need a powered hub.. if you already use one then fine.
Plug in just about any external hard disk will work fine. Format has to be readable by the TC.. ie fat32.. or much better HFS+.. plug it into a Mac to prepare the drive.
Pick whatever size suits.. nowadays 2TB are most economical.
WD, Seagate have goobled up all the minor players.. so pick one.
Whatever suits your budget and asthetics.
NOTE.. The USB on the TC is fine for printers.. IMHO it is the wrong way to go with USB disks.. use the internal disk of the TC.. USB is less than half the native speed plugged into a Mac.. TC to USB is slow.. far slower than internal drive.. or using external drive as external.

  • I need recommendations in purchasing an external hard drive, to back up everything in my computer. What brand and Size?

    I have a mid 2010 iMac, version 10.8.2, memory 4GB, 1TB sata disk.
Apple sent me an e-mail last year stating that my imac maybe affected to a recall. They said I have to back up my computer before sending it in to them. So its a great excuse to purchase an external hard drive.
But I am clueless. I would like to know what brand and size of memory is recommened for my imac and my needs. I will be mostly be backing up homevideos and alot of pictures, music, and some documents.
If someone could also explain about time machine? I guess its a whole separte thing from your media. I also would like to keep it affordable. I just purchased an external hard drive from www.macmall.com Seagate Backup Plus 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Drive - Black (STBU1000100).
But I don't know if that was a really great choice because for it to work with time machine I have to reformat certain things, and Im not sure if I would like to have that hassle.
I also wanted to know whats the difference between usb 3.0 and firewire. I read some forums saying that if you are to transfer videos you need to use firewire, and some agreed disagreed. Is that true?
    Please help!?
I definitely would like to know what brands of external hard drives are highly recommended and good at price. The one I purchased is it any good?
    Thank you!

  • I'm looking for a color laser printer for my MacPro....what brand do you suggest me?

    Hi.
I'm in difficult to decide what brand of color laser printer to buy.
A few month ago I saw that on the apple store was sell the HP LaserJet Pro CP1525 Color Printer series, but now only multifuction printer are avaiable.
Have uou got experience with some other model?
    Thank's.
    Cristian

I would look at reviews of course. I favor Lexmark but there are others.
    Try these:
    http://printers.toptenreviews.com/laser/
    http://www.pcmag.com/reviews/laser-printers
Ink jets have come a long way, but not a replacement where laser is called for, and cost of ink is just as much as printers. Trouble with multi function is -- not all functions are always that great.
Support. Sometimes only the last  couple model years get supported drivers.
I keep paying less and getting much much better quality printers though and compared to those $10,000 units of old today's printer is cheap, fast and a joy to use.

  • What brand portable external hard drive should I buy?

Can anyone suggest what brand of portable external hard drive would be a good one to buy for storing my iTunes music and maybe photos on. My Macbook is now getting stuffed full of music and as I have an 80gig iPod I will need to move my iTunes on to a larger drive to make the most use of it and I probably need at least 100gig. I can get hold of the Lacie Porshe design ones from a local apple retailer, or order something else from the Apple store...Crossfire maybe? I want it to be really plug and go, be ready formatted for Mac, and be bus powered and fully portable.
I would be grateful for any advice.

I like my Acomdata too. It's 320GB and in this aluminum case...I call it "the ingot" because it's big and heavy and metal. However, it's not a treat to take places because it's so big and heavy. I'm thinking about getting an OWC Firewire drive based on a 2.5" drive because of the need for an external drive that's highly portable.
However, don't go the USB2 route unless you have Firewire on the external drive too. USB2 requires a lot of intervention from the CPU that Firewire doesn't. You will NOT be able to vidcap to a USB2 drive. However, no probs vidcapping to a Firewire drive. I don't know why Apple is moving away from Firewire...it's a superior system. If they moved to eSATA I would understand, but that's not where they are going. It's probably a cost thing, darn it.

  • What Brand of Blank Media Should I Use? Look Here

The question of blank media brands comes up quite often. Sometimes a poster just asks the question. Other times, it starts with playability issues and moves on to blank media brands.
Here's a THREAD in the DVD Lounge, that has some good comments. If one has any questions as to what brand they should use, they will benefit from this discussion.

  • What brands and type can I use for my iMac 20" internal Hard Drive?

what brands and type can I use for my iMac 20" aluminium internal Hard Drive?
can I use WD caviar black?
    is it too hot?

If you are replacing the drive because the existing one is faulty, that's one thing. If you just want more space, you should take advantage of having a decently fast and relatively small capacity drive in there now (instead of a huge drive). Get an external FireWire drive and off-load most of your user data there. Make your internal drive dedicated to mostly your OS and app files, with plenty of free space. That setup will make your iMac run more efficiently. I won't go into more detail, because I'm not answered your specific question... You can post back with any questions, if interested...
    To answer your questions...
You should be able to use any SATA 3.5-inch drive internally, but you should probably keep it at or under 1TB. The main concerns are power usage and heat dissipation. A drive like the WD Caviar Green would be ideal in terms of power and heat, but they do have slower (or variable) spin rate. I have one as an external drive (750GB) and it is amazingly quiet and cool. If I had to replace the internal drive because the current drive failed, I'd put it inside. I'll trade a bit of pure performance for the efficiency (including low noise), and these drives are more advanced with higher data density and larger cache, so the trade-off from slower spin rate may not be so bad.
You can check your current drive's model number (which is shown in System Profiler) to get the specs online. The stock drive in my old +Late 2006+ iMac is a 7200 RPM drive. The Caviar Black is a 7200 RPM drive, with a newer design. So if you want to use a Caviar Black in there, I think it would be OK.

  • What brand external hard drive is best with time machine

what brand of external hard drive works best with time machine?

Contrary to the other two replies, I will relate what I've read here: WD drives are fine, but their (cheap?) enclosures are subject to failure. Some buy a bare WD drive and install it in an Oxford Chip external enclosure (OWC / macsales.com would be one source). And, I have two LaCie Quadras and one OWC Mercury Pro - both are generally recommended here. If you want it bootable, most WD drives do not support it:
    http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1787/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvd GltZS8xMzUxNTIzMzIwL3NpZC9ueUFYc1g5bA%3D%3D
Please note: it's good to have an external hard drive which has its own power supply and, as mentioned, FW 800 or USB 3). You also do not need any software that comes on the external - you will most likely need to format it anyway because most come formatted for Windows, but that is easy using Disk Utility.

  • What brand of SSD should i buy for my macbook pro 13 early 2011

im interesting in upgrade my early 2011 macbook pro 13inch ... what brand of memory ram and ssd should i buy? having in consideration speed, and quality, issues free.
    thnak you
sorry for my bad english ..

    Maximum Memory
16 GB (Actual) 8 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots
    2 - 204-pin PC-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM
    I recommend buying RAM from:
    OWC
    DataMem
    Crucial.com
I would stick to SSDs like the OCZ Vertex 3, Samsung 840, or OWC Mercury 6G. You may also care to look at the DataDoubler from OWC. A bracket that lets you install both an SSD and your existing HDD in the optical bay by removing the DVD drive.

  • What brand HD is in your Macbook Pro?

What brand of hard drive is in your MacBook Pro, what speed, and what capacity?
    Thanks!

seems like the 7200 uses about 25% more power during
    disk usage.
Because the 7200 spins faster it doesn't have to spin as long as a 5400 to xfer the same data. It all evens out as far as actual power usage. The 7200 xfers 228MB more data per minute over the 5400. While the 5400 drive is still chugging along with a 400 MB file the 7200 has been long finished.
Here is another benchmark test for anyone interested: http://www.barefeats.com/hard61.html

I'm possibly wrong here but I suspect opening a brand new MBP to add parts yourself will void the warranty.  It is probably in the small print.  I certainly would not risk it for an expensive Apple product.
Some (Windows) laptops have easy access to memory and disk slots that do not necessitate taking the complete back cover off.  However, Apple does not make life easy for you.
However, if you are going for a 'used' machine it is probably worth a try.
Not possibly, definitely wrong, Ram and Hard Drive are considered user replaceable and will not void the warranty if changed.
