Off (snap to page) slow to load
I have a folio with 2 renditions for the iPad2 and iPad3.
The articles are set to Off (Snap to Page), but the articles won't move vertically until the 2nd or 3rd swipe.
The articles contain several overlays per page.
Is this the same issue:

We are on a pay per publication setup, and I am hoping someone can help me find a solution to this.
Cheers,
Lance
Hi Jenny,
Images need to be scaled and optimized for the web. Your wave forming background image too huge for use on the web. 4700px wide is much larger than average displays and unnecessarily large in filesize: 946.35 KB (969,062 bytes). Ideally it should be about about 100KB
As an example, I used a full-size image background on this page. Its filesize is only 137KB, and width is 900px.

New HP Pavilion three weeks ago. After several attempts by the 'experts' I finally got a straight answer from a tech in the Philipines yesterday, 01-29-2015. HP and Microsoft are working to resolve the issue of slow pages and a dead cursor until the next page finally loads. You may have discovered that Google Chrome DOES NOT have this issue. Comments about HP would not be allowed here so I will just say, use Chrome until the issue with IE 11 is resolved.

Every time I try to open a page, I get a user account control message asking for permission to proceed. I have tried to adjust the frequency of this but have been unsuccessful. This has only started to occur recently.
Pages are slow to load and do not properly display the close, minimise etc buttons in the top right corner (these are blacked out)
I have tried to reset firefox. This does not fix the problem.
The problem does not occur using Internet ExplorerThere are several things to try.
Some problems occurs when your Internet security program was set to trust the
previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as
trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet
again;
* Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version)
* Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs, then add it back. For detailed instructions, see

Slow internet. Web pages slow to load.
Hello,
My mac mini is finding web pages slowly. 5-10 seconds or more to find the pages and then it will load (instantly) most of it and pause a second of or two and load the rest. Downloads are fast. Within 100kbps of advertised speed (1.5 mb dsl). My upload is also fine at about 1.0 mbps. Any ideas? The ISP gave gave me a modem and said plug it in and it worked fine for a week or two. It's been really slow the last two days. When web pages are slow to start loading, but load pages quickly once they've started, it's usually an issue with the DNS settings. DNS is Domain Name Service, and it's the process whereby the URL you type into your web browser, such as www.yahoo.com is turned into the string of numbers the internet actually uses to locate a web page. Thus when you click on a link or type an address, before your browser can start loading the page it has to send the address to the ISP's DNS servers, which then look up the address and return the correct IP number.
This process usually happens pretty quickly, but not always.
Check that the DNS server addresses you were given by the ISP are entered correctly into the DNS Servers box of the network preference pane. If none are listed, check the ISP's settings (often found on-line in their help and support pages, or in the documentation they supplied) and enter them manually. There will typically be 2 or 3 of them, given in the form of an IP address. -
HT1338 Error message : "Failed to open page" - Slow & failed loading online pages
Lately I've been experiencing slow loading pages when I go online using Safari (that's all I usually use). Everything is updated. I often get the "Failed to open page" because it doesn't always even load. It stays blank for sooooo long then error messages appear "Failed...." Plenty of memory. Even while I type this the wheel begins to spinn, making me wait before I can complete this form. What can I do next? I use iCloud these days. Before iCloud I didn't have this problem, could there be a connection?
If your Safari won't open, one or more of the following procedures should fix it:
1. Go to Home/Library/Safari/ folder and remove the following two files:
¥ history.plist
¥ lastsession.plist
(Safari may not load properly If these two files are corrupted.)
2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari/ and remove the contents of that folder.
(These are just webhistory files and are not required for Safari to run. However, similar to preference files, problems can arise if they have become corrupt.)
3. Locate the cookies.plist file that's located in the Home/Library/Cookies/ folder and remove it.
(Again, faults in stored cookies may interfere with Safari's launch.)
4. Check whether any of your third-party internet plug-ins may be interfering with the launch of Safari by carefully moving them to the desktop (do NOT delete them at this stage). You can find these in two places:
Home/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ folder, and Global plug-ins are located in the Macintosh HD/Library/Internet Plug-ins/ folder.
Also look in Library/Input Managers where other third party add-ons may lurk. If you find a SIMBL folder, please note that some SIMBLE.bundles may require updating or possibly removal.
Restart Safari and place them back in the correct folders, one at a time, closing and re-opening Safari each time. If you discover that one of them was causing the problem with launching Safari, trash it and download and install a fresh copy. -
I am using Weblogic 6.1. Our configuration is similar to many larger sites that
handle more users.
With additional users (dozens), several pages of my site have become slow. My
site streams tif images to users via the app server. The size of the set of images
may range from 60K - 2.5M. Are their special weblogic tuning flags that I should
look at? From review of my logs, it looks like my servlet is very quick. From
review of cpu usage, it looks fast. But the data takes a long time to return
to my browser.
Any suggestions?Quite possibly a bottleneck on the database or some other high-latency (and
poorly scalable) piece of your system. Usually it will show itself by having
low CPU utilization on the app server no matter how much load is applied.

pages will not always load or take forever, if i stop it from loading and refresh it it may load right away though not always. It is like the old days @ 33K, never used to happen, basically have all the same plugins have always had.
has been doing this for several months now, finally can't take it any more, all malware, virus, scans are clean, settings are the same for last ? years.
do get script problems from time to time but not very often.
loading say New egg, will take forever or will not completely load page, have backed up all bookmarks, etc: removed and reinstalled but no change.
any Ideas would be of great help. I have been using Firefox, since it's inception and don't want to switch browsers.
Thank You,
MarkA possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

Earthlink start page slow to load
There is an error opening my Earthlink/Safari start page, resulting in a loading time of 1 minute 15 seconds, every time. When I check Activity I see the following: http://localrss.earthlink.net/widget.html timed out. Can anyone tell me what this means and how to correct it? Thanks--macquest.
Hello macquest:
Hard to tell. I suggest you contact the ISP (Earthlink) for their assistance in troubleshooting.

For the past couple of days our Internet service to the browser has been extremely slow although, when I run a speed test, our speeds are near normal. When going to a web site, it takes an extremely long time for the web site to appear, several minutes in some cases.
If I unload IPFLT at the server and put the browser on a direct connect, things are normal. Otherwise, when pointed to the BM proxy is when this happens.
Thanks for any ideas and/or suggestions on where the problem might be.
TimWell, good, then I am maybe doing something correctly, since I rely on Filtcfg also, just tried to set the default filters once or twice with iManager and had to go in through Filtcfg to clear them. Right now I just checked and don't have any filters that could be causing problems, but I'm going to need to start checking the filters on the individual servers and see how they compare with your references. We especially want to force everyone through the proxy(ies) and keep them from "slipping out" another way with access to the various and wonderful "services" there are out there let alone let any of them in. It is sometimes too easy to allow an exception to packet filtering, for example, that allows all but http and https traffic when there are problems, and some of the above listed "services" use a different protocol.
Thanks,
Tim

Can you check your filtering against tip #13 at the URL below?
I simply never use iManager to do filters. I use Filtcfg. Using Filtcfg, try to edit one of your
problem exceptions (one that doesn't go away). Then look at the logger screen - do you see a -6001
error?
If so, the next step, and probably a good step to do now anyway, is to back up all the .cfg files in
SYS:ETC. (Or just back up all the files in there).

What should I do. I ran dslteports speed test. My ping was 519 download spped was .28 Mbps and upload speed was .34 Mbps.
I've done a hard reset and reset my network settings. No help from either. I've also notice my screen tends to flicker and the data wheel at the top of my screen is spinning faster. This thing is screwed help me!What kind of a webpage were you attempting to go to that requierd a password? If you do not have a computer to connect the device to, then the only choices you have are the restart and reset. You never said if this slow internet was wi-fi or cellular. There is no way to know if you have corrupt files in the backup unless you do the restores as I explained. You can restore as new without a computer, just go into Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. That will wipe the phone and delete all of your content. Then you can activate the phone, which would be the same as a restore as new. Make sure you have a backup in iCloud, since you do not have a laptop. If you are concerned about a backup, then you might not want to try this restore measure.

Hi All,
I'm having problems with my album pages, which I have re named 'Portfolios.'When I look at this page it takes about 8 seconds to download but others have complained of it taking much longer. Is there anything I can do to reduce this time?
Here's a link if anyone needs it,
http://web.me.com/joanne.craske1/joannecraskedigitalretouching.co.uk/Portfolioone_/Portfolio_one.html
Thanks. It took about 4-5 seconds for me but didn't seem that long. That is one of the problems with using MobileMe for a commercial site (which, by the way, is against the Terms of User although I've not hear of any sites getting bumpted due to that). MMe servers have a high overhead due to all the special features it is providing to the members. It's more of a social site. You might consider getting a domain name for your site for a provider that also offers hosting. That would probably be faster and more reliable in the long run.
I did notice on the About Me page that the lower text runs into the lower photo a bit.

Fast download speeds but web pages slow to load
Ok,
I have just convinced my frien to move from AOL to BT and he is starting to see problems.
I asked him to run a speed test and original after he entered his number if replied it couldn't test at this time.
This happens everytime.
I then got him to log into his home hub 3 and this is what it shows:--

I got him to run a Quiet Line test and you can hear a few clicks so I'm unsure of the downstream rate is correct.
I suspect its a problem on his PC but any suggestions I would be gratefulhi there is nothing wrong with his downstream
however if the clicks on the line can still be heard when checking at the test socket then that needs to be fixed first by calling BT Faults on 151 but do not mention broadband in the call

Web Pages Slow to Completely Load
For the last couple of days both myself and my wife on her laptop have been experiencing web pages slow to load.
I don't think it is our machines as we are both having the same problem.
Some pages will not load at all (ITV . Debenhams, PC World after downloading homepage) ?
Our D/L speed is not high a pathetic 1.6Mb/sec, but until recently pages generally loaded within 5-10 sec.

18186Hi
it could be your browser temp files needing a clean out, if you are using Internet Explorer try below
Click on the Tools menu select Internet Options
On the General Tab you have browsing history, click on Delete button
Put a tick in the following boxes
Temporary Internet Files
Cookies
Form Data
InPrivate Filtering Data
Then click on the Delete button, a small progress window will open, wait till this is finished, close Internet Options window, close browser and try again
While I understand you are using two computers, give it a try
Hope this helps -
SI since upgrading to ios8, Safari pages are very slow to load, Kindle crashes upon opening, and I can no longer read saved artices from my reading list when offline. Big disappointment. Is it possible to downgrade to previous ios?
I actually managed to fix it! But unfortunately I don't know what I was that I did that helped.
Anyways, this is kind of what I did.
1. I tried to reset form bakup via iTunes, no change.
2. I tried to reset as a new iPhone, problem still there and reading list also as bookmarks!? (several hundred)
3. Noticed that I could delete a bookmark, once in a while, the other times I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
4. Because I figured that it was a memory problem, I thought it made sense to delete as many as possible, witch I did.
5. Noticed that it was more likely that I coould delete a bookmark if I restarted Safari.
6. Notice that it was even more likely that I could delete a bookmark if I turned the Safari sync with iCould off (with option detete information on iPhone) and then back on again.
7. When I was about half way through deleting the bookmark list I suddenly discovered that all but one of the items in my reading list was 'waiting' and one was downloading. I kind of was 'unstuck' now.
8. I started to delete items in my reading list, but every other time I got the 'Bookmarks are being synced. Please edit the bookmarks once syncing has completed.' message.
9. It took a while to delete all bookmarks and items in the reading list.
Hope you guys could use the info here to fix your problems too!
