  • Error: invalidfileaccess; OffendingCommand: imageDistiller

I use AcrobatPro 8 to create pdfs from a CAD program called Chief Architect.  It used to work just fine, but now whenever I try to print a CAD layout sheet with an image pasted on it (my typical image is just a black and white .tif image), Adobe will not create the pdf and I get the following error log:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
    %%[Page: 1]%%
%%[ Error: invalidfileaccess; OffendingCommand: imageDistiller ]%%
    Stack:
    -dict-
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
This only happens when the CAD layout contains an image file.  If the layout has only native CAD drawings, the pdf creates just fine.  I have removed, reinstalled, and updated both the CAD program and Adobe 8 and I still get the same results.
Any help resolving this would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance

is it happening with a particular type of image or it happens with any kind of it. which version of Acrobat 8 are you currently on? are you able to print to a phycical PS printer, if not then it is most probably not a Adobe issue.

  • Issues converting to PDF

I am trying to convert a .rvt file to .pdf and receiving the following error:

This is on a Windows XP 64-bit Professional computer using Adobe Acrobat 9 Professional.  I am trying to convert a .rvt file from Autodesk Revit Architecture 2011. I have search google and am not finding much information on this error. Is it an Acrobat issue? Is it an Autodesk issue?
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    How are you converting?
Are you using a menu option for "direct" conversion, or are you "printing" to the Acrobat printer?

  • How am I meant to correct my Framemaker files to solve this Acrobat Distiller error?

    Stack:
    -dict-
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%"
No PDF is created. I've tried 'save as' and 'print'. I have created a PDF from this document several times before with no issues. I haven't replaced any of the screenshots in this version. Where can I find the graphic that is causing the problem? How can I solve this?
    Thanks,
    Niall.

    1. To turn "off" the graphics, simply use the esc v v shortcut (this is a toggle on/off) at the book level (no need to remove anything).
    2. Render in Error's context means, then run it again with no graphics visible (but it's obvious from the Distiller error messages that the problem is in a JPEG that can't be properly interpreted).
    3. To isolate the page containing the errant graphic, a binary search apporach means do one half at a time, i.e. the first half of the book abd then the second half, to see where the error occurs. Then split the offending half section into two-halves again and re-create the PDF until you've narrowed down to the page with the error-prone file.
However, you indicate that you're able to create the PDFs properly when printing wthout Generate Acrobat Data enabled. What is you default printer instance and which joboptions are specified?

  • CS6 PDF Printing Issues

For years I have succesfully used the "Adobe PDF" printer as a way to print PDF files from photoshop files.  i create a lot of architectural images consisting of layers of raster images and text that are typically 24 x36 @ 300 dpi.  I have used this process, rather than saving as a PDF, because printing resulted in the smallest file size.  I have used this method for years with CS3 and for the past few months with CS6.  Just recently I started getting the following error through a .log file:
    %%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[ Error: invalidfileaccess; OffendingCommand: imageDistiller; ErrorInfo: DictCRC --nostringval-- ]%%
    Stack:
    (                                                                                                         """""""!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !"##" !"    "!       !!     ###########$$$"!!    !!!!!!!                  ...)
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
Do other users use the Adobe PDF printer as a method for creating PDF files and has anyone else experienced this issue?  I have figured out a work-around, but I would prefer that the software continue to perform as it has in the past.
    Thanks!

A quick Google search gives me some interesting results, f.e.:
    * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … ug/1021190
    * https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+sour … bug/984082
-> this insinuates that it might be an upstream-bug.
I think I read somewhere that cups has changed from PDF to PS as the 'backend', and that means that a PDF that used to be fed directly to the printer, now has to be converted to PS. This same change has given me lots of headaches to print from libreoffice...

  • Acrobat 6 crashes, Acrobat 8 doesn't on PowerPoint file

    Here's a tricky one :
My collegue has Acrobat 6.0.6 on her PC and she tries to generate a PDF
from a PowerPoint file, but Distiller keeps crashing with :
%%[ Error: limitcheck; OffendingCommand: imageDistiller ]%%
We tracked down the problem to transparency applied to Jpegs, but as the
file contains loads of slides, it was a bit too late to apply a workaround.
As I have the CS3 on my machine with Acrobat 8, I tried to generate the
    PDF and... no problem !
So, my question is : what can we do ? who's to blame ?
I suppose there won't be any updates for Acrobat 6.0.6, but as we paid
for this software, aren't we entitled to get a fix ?
We definitely won't buy an upgrade because the problem may be linked to
this particular file and may never happen again, but...
    Any advice ?
    Thanks

Just phoned them... They said "Not supported anymore, get the upgrade"...
Fortunately, PDFCreator does the job as well...

  • File was view only, won't save to PDF - log: OffendingCommand: text (Framemaker 11)

I have been printing a book successfully for weeks now, and today did an edit to one chapter in the book. Now when I save the book as PDF, I get this in the log:
%%[ Error: undefined; OffendingCommand: Text ]%%
    Stack:
    /Body
    /T
    -mark-
%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%
I thought I fixed it because it was originally producing a "view only file" message (for the one chapter that I changed) while generating. I renamed the file, turn the lock on and off, and don't get the view only message, but still no PDF, either save-as-pdf of the individual chapter or the whole book.
Can anyone help? I've never encountered this.
    Thanks in advance.

This shouldn't hang. It should just stop after an error like this.

Distiller does not read Word documents, never has. This is a normal
error if you try. Distiller only opens PostScript files.

I wildly guess about why, and have simply Ctrl-P again to print to Adobe PDF, and maybe half the time it works, without any changing, for example, the Photoshop image that I want converted to PDF. Sometimes, superstitiously, I reduce the res/file size and it goes through, but not always. The diagnostic tells me next to nothing, although I was a programmer for 20 years. There seems to be an Acrobat component named "Distiller," and "readstring" is failing for some reason that only one of the product programmers, or someone with similar knowledge, can understand, and the programmer does not tell me the user what to do about it.
What is the cause of the "ioerror"
The product I am using is Acrobat 6.

I do not know anything about Distiller, which I presume is a component of Acrobat 6 Professional. I would know nothing about "opening a file in Distiller." The ioerror occurs when I try to print, via ordinary means, a JPG file while in Photoshop to the printer listed as "Adobe PDF." Usually this works perfectly. When it does fail with the error log inserted into my original post, I just ctrl P again, and about half the time this works. When it does not, I make the totally uninformed guess that the JPG file may be too big, so I resize it smaller. Sometimes it then gets converted to PDF correctly, but sometimes it fails with the same "readstring" error message log. The success and failures appear haphazard, but as a former professional programmer I know that there are deterministic reasons, even if nobody ever discovers them. Debugging programs is very hard work.
Perhaps someone can suggest a means of forwarding the error message to someone in Adobe programming, who already knows what the error message should mean to me, the user.
