Office 11 on imac i3 10.6.4 21"

Office 11 won't open docs, bad file path. Also every time I open word a window pops up about normal.dotm. I tried uninstalling and reinstall, repair permissions, and restart. Word works ok with iMac backup from external when I boot from that

I did that. I'm ready to pull my hair out. I've repaired permissions numerous times. trashed every file with microsoft in it restarted emptied trash, cloned from working drive with word, zeroed drive, reinstalled OSX, updated the word version. it will only open properly from the external drive but mot my home drive. the external is a clone of entire imac. nothing I do works. Now something new: I can open files from previous docs but, if they end in .doc they wont open, but if I add .dot they open. Also I cannot save a new file at all. It says that it will save as a .docx, but then the window pops up saying cannot find file path. I am ready to cry.

  • HT3986 I have Microsoft Office on my iMac, can i transfer this to the Macbook Air if so how.  There is no drive for the CD's!?

Hello I have Microsoft Office on my iMac is there any way i can transfer this to my Macbook Air as my version is on disc?

Unless you purchased a multi user license for your current copy of Office it will not activate, you can phone the activation in but you will have to lie to Microsoft when asked 'how many computers' etc.
You can purchase additional licenses and download Software from Microsoft or 3rd party retailers (Amazon etc)

  • How can i use office work in iMac?

I want have microsoft work in Imac and relate to my Ipad, which one is the better one should I choise? because it have a lot difference choice in app store

Microsoft Works doesn't run under Mavericks.
Microsoft Office (v 2008 and 2011) run in Mavericks. I think they have just released some iPad versions, but they must be purchased as a subscription service with Office 2013 in order to actually use the programs.
Pages, Numbers, and Keynote can all open, edit Office documents, but they are completely different user experiences from Office. I prefer them due to their clean, simple interfaces, but they won't have all the features you have in Office.
    They have iPad versions.
There are also Office alternatives, LibreOffice, NeoOffice, but they don't have iPad versions. They are also not in the App Store (last I checked).

  • How do I use microsoft office 2010 on imac?

Hi, I would like to use microsoft office 2010 on my imac for school purposes, how can I accomplish that?

I suggest that you get the student version of 2011 for mac. i believe it is around 120us or so on amazon or the apple store. The other option would be to use 2010 for windows running paralles or a similar Windows emulator.
    Cheers

  • How do I get Microsoft office from my iMac to my Macbook Pro

I have an older paid for version of Microsoft Office. I believe it is 2011? Anyhow, I got a New/used fully updated Macbook Pro and I used my Time Capsule to transfer all my data from my iMac to my laptop, but much of the music is absent, as well as my purchased apps. How do I get these over? I do not have an optical drive so it is not as easy as reinstalling.

If it's Office 2011 you can download a Trial at www.mactopia.com. You can then use your license key to make it a fully functional version.
You can also download EasyFind 4.9 and use it to locate all the relevant Microsoft and office files located elsewhere on your old drive so you can transfer them to your new one.

  • Downloading MS Office 2008 to iMac without a port.

I have two licenses remaining on MS Office Home & Student Edition software purchased in 2008. It's supposed to be downloaded via the DVD provided in the packaging. Rather than purchasing a new "subscription" to MS Office as it's now called, and tossing out the 2008 version with its two remaining licenses I'd like to use them, one for my new iMac and one for my Macbook Air. Neither has a port. Is there any way to download them just using the license numbers...without having to attach something with a port to the two computers and doing it that way?

What do you mean by a port?
    Maybe a DVD drive?
    Buy an external Superdrive.

    Hello
This forum is for troubleshooting Apple Software Update for Windows, a software package for Windows designed to update Apple products that run on Windows, and not related to Microsoft Office or your question in any way. If you have issues or questions about Office, it's probably best you post Office related questions on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products.

  • Office 2007 to imac via remote disk

hi, i have office 2007 on disc which i thought i would try to load on to my new i mac (late 2013. 2.9 ghz,8gb,10.9.3) running parallels . i have used my mac book pro(early 2011,10.7.5) as an opyical drive. the files show up on the imac remote disc.on the i mac i then run 'setup.exe'  , it comes back with a window stating
'setup error -  setup cannot find the required setup controller file.either there was a network error,an error reading from the cd,dvd,or other installation media,or a problem with the package you downloaded'.
My question is, do you think this error is due to my method of using remote disc ( copy issue?) ,or corruption of origional media? maybe if i used an optical drive pluged directly into the i mac the software would run as intended?

You should probalby ask your question on the Paralells forums:

  • Transferring Office 2011 from iMac to Macbook Air

My Office 2011 on my iMac is a downloaded upgrade from Office v.X. How do I locate the CD Key to the 2011 upgrade? It's my understanding Microsoft now allows you to use Office 2011 on 2 devices. Thank you!

    By moving the Library...
Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
    3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
    4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

  • Slow scrolling & lag problems using Office with new iMac desktop OS X Lion

Just bought a new iMac 21.5 desktop with OS X Lion after using a PC with windows my whole life. Downloaded latest version of Microsoft Office to use with my spreadsheets for my business and found that whenever I use larger spreadsheets and use filters (500 rows/20 columns) the scrolling is so slow with such a delayed response and lagtime, that it is practically useless. Already checked the possible "duplicate font" problem mentioned on some sites but that did nothing. What can be done to fix this issue???

If the issue only occurs when you use Excel then you may want to click the Office for Mac Product Forums and repost. One thing to look at is how much RAM your system has and how much is FREE. As a general rule of thumb OS X likes 500 MB or more of FREE RAM, keep Activity Monitor running (Applications - Utilities - Activity Monitor) and when you sense a slow down look at AM and click the System Memory tab, if you see it's in the 500MB or less range then it's simple, upgrade the RAM. • Office 2008 or Office 2011 on iMac 2007 running Snow Leopard

    Hi iMac Folks
My iMac Mid 2007 has 4GB RAM and is running Snow Leopard on a 250 GB partition, the another 250 GB partition is purely for Time Machine backup. I also got both Office 2008 and Office 2011.
From the perspectives of performance, stability and compatibility, which version of Office is the best choice for this old iMac?
I currely have a Mac Pro running Office 2011, can Office 2008 open 2011's files without any difficulty or problem?
Cost is not an issue here, as I have already owned both copies, each has three licenses. However, in terms of cost, if possible, I prefer using Office 2008 as this way I can keep more Office 2011 licenses for new Macs, if any.
    Any comments are welcome.
    Kind regards
    B

    2008.

Yes. Both use the standard .docx and are backwards compatible with older (pre 2007) .doc files.

  • Installing Office 2011 on iMac

Does anyone know which additional file I need in order to install Office 2011 on my iMac? I downloaded the MS suite but can't install it because Mac needs some other file in order to do the install. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

The message states "Office 2011 14.3.9 update can't be installed on this disk. A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume."

  • HT5287 how do I install microsoft office on my iMac without a disk drive?

How do I install office:mac home &student on my imac without a disk drive?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If you have Microsoft Office for Mac on a DVD, you have two options:
    1. Buy an external optical drive, connect it to the iMac and use it to install Office.
    2. If you have another Mac or PC, use Remote Disc > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5287?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
Both options are valid, but the option to install it from an external optical drive is much better. It's faster than installing it with Remote Disc

  • Microsoft office on my Imac

    Hello!
Can anyone help me. I have just bought my first Imac and need support to install Office Home and Student 2007. I have this on a CD but are not able to run it. I will be very glad for help.

Your information here doesn't seem correct to me. You say you have a new IMac running 10.6.7 which is a PPC iMac.
First of all Apple stopped using PPC processors in 2006 so if it is new I doubt that it can be PPC iMac.
Secondly a PPC Mac is not capable of running Snow Leopard which is what 10.6.7 is called.
So something is wrong with your story here.
To get to your question about Office, my guess is that it the version for Windows which can't be installed on a Mac running OS X. That is the best I can do with the information provided.

  • How to download office mac from IMac when license allows for it

Just acquired a MacBook Air and am trying without success to download from my iMac Office 2011 for which I have a license that allows use on 2 Macs anyone can give me a hint?

Xandris is right.  I had the exact same situation (received a MacBook Air from Santa last Christmas to complement my 27 inch iMac).  I have MS Office for Mac installed on my iMac.  I just downloaded the trial onto the MBA from the MS website, opened the program, plugged in my "key" number and was up and running in minutes.
