Office 14.1.4 killed outlook sync and data
Updated office 2011 14.1.4 a few hours ago. Killed the sync between outlook and ical etc. as well as all data (calender and contacts) in ical and adress book and subsequently all respective data on my iphone.
Seems to be one of these fabulous performance updates by microsoft.
Any ideas or similar experience?

i am currently using office 2010 and filesite 8.5 sp2 or sp3 and experiencing the same issue with the icon grouping in the taskbar in all the threads i have read the responses state that the solution was to upgrade to office 2010 well that might have been good
and well for most cases but it seems the issue is still relevant in regards to office 2010 pro plus. We were using office 2010 standard and it turned out that we had licenses for pro plus so we had to true up as per Microsoft and in doing so this
revealed an unknown issue we had not previously experienced.
To get to the point i'm using office 2010 and filesite in conjunction with one another and experiencing the same issue that has been discussed on multiple different threads and unfortunately attorneys do not like to hear answers that do not solve their problems.
specially in an environment where we have close to 1000 users this may potentially affect.
Has anyone experienced this and/or found a solution to it in the specific situation i am explaining. (use of filesite 8.5 Sp2 or Sp3 and office 2010 pro plus mainly outlook 2010 pro plus.)
Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.

When did this issue started? Was there any changes in your side? Like add-in version update? Or other updates?
Is it possible to disable all the other add-ins only keep filesite enabled, check if the Office is still“grouping
in the taskbar”? Then we could enable the add-ins one by one. Though this we could identify if there are add-ins conflicts.
Does this “grouping in the taskbar” issue only occur when we have filesite installed? If so, it would be better that you post this issue in filesite support channel to
get more insightful support.

After upgrading my ATT iPhone 4 to iOS5, I thought I would try out iCloud. I read somewhere, that it only syncs when it is connected to a powersource, and maybe I read that wrong, but I interpret it to mean when I am connected to either a power outlet or my computer using the cable. In otherwords, it wouldn't sync while I was out and about, away from my wireless home network, using the 3G network.
Is this not correct?
Because 2 days ago I racked up 80 MB of my data plan (not iCloud storage) while I slept at home, where I have a wireless network. I found this out by getting a text warning from ATT the next day, that I was close to using up my alloted 200MB data usage. I checked out my account online, and sure enough the 80MB transferred in the middle of the night. I didn't notice the "documents and data" setting was turned on so it looks like my apps updated while my phone was in sleep mode. Is there anything else it could be? I have everything iCloud turned off now and wondering if there is something I should know about to avoid wasting my data usage?elko wrote:

I think possibly you are thinking about wireless sync of iTunes. That can be set to happen when you connect to a charger etc, but that is not the same thing as you are descrbing with iCloud. -
Office 365 email deployment using Outlook 2010 and PRF files
Hi,
I've been struggling to get Outlook 2010 setup with a new Office 365 deployment. I would like to use custom PRF files to get the new Outlook profiles configured. I have more than 100 users.
One of PRF files I'm using is shown at the end of this message. Each user will get a custom PRF file with his/her information already configured (mailbox, server name, etc...). I've obtained the corresponding Exchange server using:
Get-Mailbox <email> | select ExchangeGUID
I've attached the domain at the end of the GUID and then that's the Exchange server. It matches what you get with Outlook using Autodiscover.
Using these PRF fies I'm able to create a new default profile and set all the parameters as if I had create the profile manually. Two problems here though:
1) I don't know what to change in the PRF file to set the Logon Network Security to Anonymous Authentication under the Security tab (Exchange account properties)
2) When Outlook asks me for the username and password, it won't take it, and I know I'm using the right credentials. If I create the profile manually (not using Autodiscover) and I use the same configuration parameters in the PRF file, everything is ok. I have
already run all the updates and tools that come as part of Setup Desktop in Office 365. Actually I get the same results with Outlook 2013.
I'm looking for some help here or ideas how to roll Office 365 without having to go user by user and creating a new profile and waiting for Autodiscover to finish :)

happens. 1 week later and probably 100 hours later I am just going to create a simple how-to for each user.

Outlook sync and meeting invite management
I have recently purchased a Q10 and have been a staunch BB user for years due to physical keyboard and efficient work solutions. I now have a show stopper type problem. I can sync with outlook fine through Link and any meeting invites I send sync with Link fine as I can configure them to go into the Link calendar on my Q10. However I can only receive calendar invites into the Local calendar on the Q10 which will not sync with Outlook so I either have to accept them also on my laptop, creating duplicates on my Q10 - a mess to look at - or they are missing on my laptop. Not workable.
Please help. I will be leaving BB if this is not solvable as it is a show-stopper for me because of my work needs.

I cannot get the desktop manager to give me the choice of Outlook when selecting the addresses in doing the sychronization configuring. How do I get it to show Outlook as a choice?

I restored the password from the Firefox Sync and data is not synchronized.
I reinstalled Windows and downloaded Firefox, but have forgotten the password synchronization. Successfully restoring it, I connected to my account. But synchronization has not occurred. Other synchronized devices are not available. Can I somehow recover the data?

*UPDATE 1/23/2009 07:08 AM* This is a partial fix. I no longer think the Recurrence Range is the culprit. It seems the Time Zones features between Outlook & Palm are not cooperating. This explains why my 12 am events are syncing as 6 pm the day before; I live in GMT-6:00 so it's moving my events ahead by 6 hours. Another event I set for 1 pm in Outlook was changed to 7 am on my Treo. I am going to start over and recreate each event, this time setting the Time Zones, which I hadn't done before. I tested it out and it worked with a single event... let's see how long it lasts. I've also found that using 'No Time' on my Treo is not compatible with Outlook. It's better to set a time with 0 minutes duration.
*UPDATE 1/23/2009 04:11 AM* This is a partial fix. My monthly and yearly problematic recurring events are now showing up at 6 pm the day before on my Treo, though my Outlook calendar is fine. I think this has to do with the Recurrence Range Start/End in Outlook, which is set automatically. If only there were a way to change this...
After a WHOLE LOTTA trial-and-error (like 3 days worth), I think I finally solved my OLERR:14-001 issue!
Problem: Syncing Palm Treo 755p calendar with Outlook 2007
Error Message (simplified):
HotSync session completed with messages on [date] [time]
HotSync session started on [date] [time], and completed in [0] seconds
Outlook Calendar synchronization completed with messages
Duration: [0] seconds
Outlook Calendar
The multi-day repeating appointment titled [event] beginning [date] [time] cannot be converted for use on the Handheld. Please divide the appointment up into single-days and re-synchronize.
OLERR:14-0001
- Desktop overwrite HH Sync
Note: You will likely have several of these ‘Multi-day’ instances in your hotsync log (I had 58). You may want to change Calendar in hotsync to "Desktop overwrites Handheld" after you get this error, to avoid erasing events while you are fixing this issue. Otherwise, you may have to restore them from a backup copy (if you have one) and start over. You can switch back once you’re through.
Solution: First, I tried this Palm KB Article: http://kb.palm.com/SRVS/NUA/launchKB.asp?c=31167. After this didn’t work for me… I did trial-and-error. I believe the problem is that each recurring event, which you set up as ‘All-day’, must be changed to have a duration of 0 minutes from within Outlook. I was able to change some events directly, but I found that some of the records had corrupted, and would just revert. My fool-proof solution was to recreate EVERY problematic event (yes, one-by-one) using the following steps:
Open Outlook
Go to your default calendar, where your events are synced
In the top menu choose ‘View’ > ‘Current View’ > ‘Recurring Appointments’
Open a ‘New Appointment’
Enter subject and other options, such as Categorize, Importance, Time Zones, or Reminder
Make sure starting and ending date & time are the EXACT same
Select ‘Recurrence’ & choose your pattern
I did not choose ‘No end date’ (hence the Palm article), but rather ‘End by:’ and typed in 2031, then pressed tab to auto-generate a suitable end date. I chose 2031 because that is last year my Treo’s calendar goes to. Click OK
Repeat for every event in your error log, until you get a clean "Desktop overwrites Handheld" hotsync (Outlook should be closed when you sync)
Switch Calendar in hotsync back to "Synchronize"
Even though I still get the message OLERR14:001, my syncs are successful. Now I will give my Treo time to see if the issue returns later. Until then, happy Outlook syncing and good luck!

if all of your data is on the phone you can change the sync action to handhled overwrites desktop
how to:
open palm desktop software
on the top left click on 'hotsync' and then 'custom'
on the calendar conduit
highlight it and click on 'change'
then choose 'handhled overwrites desktop'

I currently sync my iPhone and iPad with Outlook on my Windows Desktop, but want to switch and still do this on my new Mac running Lion. However what I am reading about the nightmares of syncing with Outlook in Office for Mac 2011 is making me think twice about going down this road. What an awful situation of purchasing a Mac and being potentially stumped by 'Office for Mac 2011'.
I want to continue using Microsoft Office including Outlook for my business applications - but on the Mac. I like Keynote for presentations, however I also have to create presentations in PowerPoint for some business situations. So, although I don't ideally want to put Windows onto my Mac, would it be more efficient and less hassle to use Parallels 7, Windows 7 and Office 2010, rather than endure the issues associated with OFM 2011?
If I decide to use Parallels 7 and Windows 7 am I then into using software to protect against virus' and malware?
I wouldn't be asking this question if Office for Mac 2011 (including Outlook) wasn't a problem - sadly from what I'm reading, it is.
Thank you in anticipation.I just resolved my Outlook 2010 + iPhone Calendar sync issue today : if you have multiple email accounts set up in Outlook (like I do), then you'll find that each account has it's own Calendar (a rather pointless feature IMO). However you probably only use one Calendar like most people, and what has happened is that the mail account which is set as default for Data Files is not the one you are using. Try this:
Outlook 2010 --> Account Settings --> click "Data Files" tab --> select as default whichever acct. is associted with the Calendar you use. -
How can I get my Outlook information that was moved to iCal back onto my Outlook calendar for syncing with my office's exchange service?
Problem solved I think. I exported my iCloud Calendar file in Outlook to Google Calendar which in turned re-populated my Outlook default calendar. This was picked up by the exchange and sent to all computers in the office.
I had hoped that iCloud, and its calendaring abilities, would remove my need for Google calendar to serve as an exchange between my iPad, iPhone and Outlook on PC (and with it connection to my staff). However, it seems that iCloud is simply not to that point yet. Hopefully Apple will begin to implement some of the processes Google Sync utilizies, specifically the ability for Sync to keep a PC running Outlook and an Android based phone in near-real-time sync. It seems that as of yet Apple has not considered the cross-platform issues of the iPhone being in wide-use in business/commercial settings with PCs running Outlook (and said PC being networked to staff, coworkers, etc...). -
How do I sync outlook contacts and calendar without deleting apps?
I have a second iPad. I wish to sync my Outlook contacts and calendar with my second iPad, however, upon doing so, I am prompted that I will be deleting the apps on the second iPad, which I suffered through yesterday (twice). Ideas on how to get around this? I am wondering how iTunes is not differentiating between the two iPads.

I got a new PC with windows 7 and Office H&O 2013. The first time I installed icloud 3.0 it worked perfectly. Then my phot streaming stop updating, it just didn't download the new photos from my iphone 5 not even my ipad. After that, Outlook crashed and my contacts, calendars and so on, didn't sync. When I tried to apply the sync this message keeps showing:
I finally manage to sign off the session in icloud by forcing the uninstall through windows control panel. After that, Office crashed! I had to install again the Office twice! Then again icloud, but had to do try installing it at least 3 times before it crash. Finally got running iCloud, signing out, singin in again; activated Mail, contacts, etc again and then in the middle of the process it crashed again and asked me to send I report, the following:

Please, please someone help me!! It is useless to have my devices unsync!Two more things:
First, sorry for the bad spelling, grammar, and all of that. English isn't my first language and I'm so frustrated at this point I'm not paying any attention to it. Sorry!
Second, after trying to repair again the icloud 3.0 through the Control Panel of Windows, guess what? It made Offce to crash again! Now I will have to install it again.

I’m using windows 7 and working in office 2010. I have installed iCloud and I can’t print my calendar from outlook all it will print is a blank calendar no appointments or birthdays . can anyone help please.
GeoffI had a similiar problem, with my multiple devices. I open iTunes and when all devices were connected I went to the info section on each device. Under info I checked the sync calandars. Under that I click all calanders. I then did the apply in low right. I then did the sync function and it fixed it for me. You have to do this for each device.
I also checked the device (ipad,Iphone) themselves and change the calander selection to NO Catagory. Hope this helps. -
Sync calendar between Outlook 2007 and iCloud
I've just downloaded and installed the iCloud Control Panel on my office Windows 7 machine. I enabled Calendar and Task syncing with Outlook on my Windows machine. However, when I opened Outlook calendar, I was surprised to see my iCloud calendar adjacent to my Outlook calendar in Outlook. I'd expected that iCloud would have synced the two calendars. In other words, I was hoping the calendar entries from my Outlook calendar would be merged with those from my iCloud calendar resulting in a single calendar. Now, I've simply got two calendars instead of one. If I want to add an entry to both calendars, must I add it in both places now? That doesn't seem very efficient. Is there a way to merge the entries into a single calendar?
Any help would be appreciated.I could not get iclould to work well with oultook and just took it off. Wished I had reviewed the forums as there seem to be a lot of issues with outlook and icloud, depsite initially looking like a very good solution. I am running Office 7 64 bit with Outook 2007, on the machine, not an exhange server. Also wanted to sync contacts and calendar with an iPad and Android phone, so perhaps a bit more challenging. After setting up icloud on Windows 7, calendar on outlook synced well with iPpad and android, but I could never get the ipad entries back into the others. Contacts seemd to sync correcly with iPad and oultook, but no solution for android phone. Many calls and discusions, and review of forums resulted in removing icloud which is not so easy. The entries in those calendar and contact files have to be copied back to the original folders and then remove icloud. I then set up iTunes to do the sync and it works. However outlook still had the folders so further clean up was required. Removing icloud does not restore outlook,so it's a bad set up in my view. The modification icloud makes to outlook are not simple to reverse. MIxed level of support does nto help, though today I received pretty capable support with pretty good outlook knowledge. What I was told seemd to work, so I will stck with Itunes for now.
