Office 2003 install with MSI and MST

I have created an install of Office 2003 from an Admin point on the
network using a transform file. Gave the application Unsecure System
User and when it runs, it will not remove the old version of Office
2000. But if I run the exact same MSI application from the NAL under
local Administrator on the same workstation, it works fine. It only
seems to not work while I am in the domain as a domain user for some
reason. HELP anybody got any ideas?

  • Office 2013 installed with KB2817430, windowsupdate still finds KB2850036. difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036

    Hi,
I've made a silent Office 2013 installer with /admin and put SP1 MSP's in the updates folder.
After deployment under installed updates it shows: Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2817430) 32-Bit Edition
But when I check for new updates, "ServicePack 1 for Microsoft Office 2013 (KB2850036) 32-Bit Edition" is ready for download and install.
What is the difference between KB2817430 and KB2850036?
It seems that I cannot download KB2850036 and also integrate it in the silent installation.
Another question: Is the updates folder from Office only for servicepacks? or can I put also updates and patches MSP files in here? If yes then i've got a lot of files with the same name and different files sizes. For example After extracting SP1 I've got
the file "proofsp-en-us.msp" which is 10MB and when extracting another patch also i've got a proof-en-us.msp and is 8MB.
So which one need to go in the updates folder?
    Can anyone help me out?
    thanks

    Hi,
As can be seen from below KB articles, KB2817430 only contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) for Office 2013, whereas KB2850036 also contains Service Pack 1 (SP1) updates for other Office 2013 related desktop products. For example, Microsoft Office 2013
Language Pack, Project 2013, SharePoint Designer 2013, Office Proofing Tools 2013, etc.:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2850036
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2817430
So if you have any of these products on your computer, Windows Update might offer related updates to you.
Regarding the Updates folder issue, you can put any Office software updates in it during the initial installation, such as service packs or hotfixes. A newer patch might make changes to a specific file, you can check the version number of that file, and keep
the newer one in the folder.
Here is the reference you will need:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2011/05/05/using-the-updates-folder-to-deploy-software-updates-with-an-office-2010-installation.aspx
(Note, it was created against Office 2010, however the steps should hold good for Office 2013)

  • JRE 1.4.2_10 Silent install using MSi and JRE 5.0_06

I have been unable to install JRE 1.4.2_10 using the msi and mst silently. My company requires all applications be installed using and msi not an exe. and with no user intervention. I can install using the msi and mst but not silently,.
Also it does not allow me to choose IE as the default browser. I change the setting in the MST for IE, but this does not work, I still have to manually go in and change it after the install.
I have the same issue with version 5.0_06. This does allow me to choose IE as the default browser but does not install silently.
    I am installing on Windows 2000 SP4.

Can't help you with the MSI/MST part of your question directly, however we use the following command line:
    jre-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe /s /v" /qn ADDLOCAL=jrecore,extra IEXPLORER=1 REBOOT=ReallySuppress JAVAUPDATE=0 SYSTRAY=0"
You might be able to make IEXPLORER=1 work for you via the MSI?
Additionally, you can manage JRE settings via the following method -
Place a file called 'deployment.config' in the following location:
    %SystemRoot%\Sun\Java\Deployment
This file can act as a pointer to a configuration file (aka jre.properties)
The contents of 'deployment.config' would look like (as an example):
    deployment.system.config=file://///servername/share/jre.properties
'jre.properties' would then contain this like:

  • This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570 reference card.

Hello my name is James king.
and This is my experience with MSI, and their NVIDIA GTX 570  reference card.
(5/27/12) Day one. I update my driver from Beta 301.24 To WHQL 301.42. and as you would expect, it worked. so i restart and go play kerbal space program (if you haven't played this go, play it now i love it) 5 minutes later it starts artifacting, eg. textures stretching, random green spots. "ugh" so i start troubleshooting, reinstall revert and so on. later i give up and go play  Portal 2, i load the game opening screen i see lots (100-250) of little flickering green dots. first instincts says its the cable, test nope. then maybe the screen, test nope. i keep testing  throughout the night, to no avail.
(5/28/12) so to the internet, for help. 3 hours later nothing, but people with bad cards.                 at opening i call NVIDIA Tech Support, they say to call MSI so i do. 3 calls no pick up, 4th call      and i get a "Support technician" who is no help, says to fill out a RMA form online.                    and so i do more troubleshooting for the rest of the day. and i give up, and go to bed.
(5/29/12)  i fill out a RMA form, end of day i get an email from MSI that says; "Dear Valued Customer [email] your RMA is pending approval, and you will get an email within 1 weak with shipping information.
(6/1/12) shipping information, instructions, but no shipping label.
(6/4/12) i ship the card, via UPS
(6/12/12) after using the most round about route eg. it got to MSI.

(6/20/12) email from MSI, saying they shipped it and that [this] is the tracking number.
(6/26/12) end of day. i receive the card, and see the case is badly scratched. i install it in my pc and hey it worked (for now). watch some YouTube, and go to play skyrim. start up load my save and i make one step, and my pc hard freezes. "sigh" half an hour later, i give up and go play minecraft 10 minutes in, and it hard freezes. so now more troubleshooting,5 hours later no luck.
(6/27/12) i have called MSI Tech Support 2 times, when they picked up the phone they say to call customer service. 7 calls later no pickup.
and that is it MSI have sent my on the run around too long.

  • Recent Conversation with MSI and Neo4 overclocking "thing"

I had a recent email transaction with MSI if anyone is interested. I tried my best to represent the group, and I know we all experience the problem a little bit different which is why it has been hard to explain and fix. I tried to give them the best info to duplicate the issue in the lab. It seems clear at this point that MSI still isn't duplicating the issue. They are using 166 Mem Clock Index, and the HT freq of 3x and still not understanding the issue, hopefully I have gave them a guide to duplicate what we have been trying to say. Yes I have explained this to MSI before but I really feel I am getting somewhere with my last 2 emails. Once we get them to duplicate the results then I think we will all have our solution shortly. Before anyone says anything negative, at least they aren't saying, oh that's an overclocking problem we don't deal with that. Also remember how long it has taken to get many people to see the issue, this isn't easy to understand so just stay cool, don't say negative sh-t if you reply and we'll see how this pans out. It was actully kind of hard since I am sitting in a hotel room 500 miles away from the motherboard but I was able to use modbin6 to view the BIOS and since I have done this about 7 zillion times I remember the settings LMAO. They have their Venice to 2750, not bad...
    Hello MSI Engineer,
The information you requested. The data you sent shows a Venice running at 166 Memclock index value at HT at 3x, the goal is to run at 200 Memclock Index and HT at 4x. In order to duplicate this issue in the lab here is my recommendation. It MUST be tried with a CBBID Winchester RevD CPU and a Venice Rev E CPU and the Gskill memory you have in dual channel. The issue happens everytime with a CBBID Winchester and less often with Venice.
Starting with the Venice 3500+, Set the following in BIOS
    [Memclock Index] 200
    [CAS# latency (Tcl)] 3
    [Min RAS active] 11
    [RAS to CAS delay] 6
    [Row Precharge] 6
    [User config mode] manual
    [bottom of 32 bit] (default)
    [1T/2T] 1T
    [Read Preamble] 6ns (default)
    [Async Latency] 6ns (default)
    [S/W mem hole] Disable (default)
    [H/W mem hole] Disable (default)
    [MTRR mapping] Continuous (default)
    [High Performance] manual
    [Agreessive timing] Disable
    [Dynamic Overclocking] Disable
    [Adjust CPU FSB Frequency] 200
    [HT Frequncy] 4
[HT Width] 16 up 16 down
    [CPU Spread] Disable
    [SATA Spread] Disable
    [PCI Spread] Disable
    [PCIe Clock] 101
    [SSE/SSE2] Enable
    [CnQ] Disable
    [CPU Ratio] 11x
    [Adjust CPU VID] 1.45
[Extra CPU Voltage] your choice for stability
[Mem Volt] your choice for stability
[NF4 Volt] your choice for stability
Now boot into Windows. Using Clockgen, increase HTT to 250. This should be stable based on your screen shot and your RAM modules. Now having a CPU 2750Mhz, RAM at 250Mhz, and a HT of 4x250(1000). Test for stablity with Prime95 or other Stress Testing tool. Now we can say motherboard is stable at 2750Mhz CPU, 250Mhz RAM, and HT 4x250(1000). Now return to the BIOS at set the following
    [Adjust CPU FSB Frequency] 250
This reults in a no POST condition for me and others. Now install the CBBID, except you will have to set a lower CPU max speed based on CBBID overclocking potential. In the BIOS, Return [Adjust CPU FSB frequency] to 200, Perhaps [CPU ratio] of 10x or 9x but a [Memory Clock Index] 200Mhz. Boot to Windows and use Clockgen to raise HTT to 250 again. Once you find a [CPU Ratio] that will have a STABLE overclock with a 250HTT. Return to the BIOS and set [Adjust CPU FSB Frequency] to 250. Try and POST. Try this experiment with the 3.1, 3.3, and 3.4 BIOS's. For the CBBID and the 3.1 BIOS you should be able to change the [HT Freq] to 3x, 2x or 1x and get a POST with [FSB Freq] 250, [Memclock Index] 200, and a known stable [CPU Ratio] you found in Windows. The 3.3, and 3.4 BIOS have made this work around not possible. Why does [HT Freq] 4x work in windows but not at POST time?
As a side note. The 1.3 BIOS for the 7125 works with the Venice, and the 1.4 and 1.5 do NOT. So somewhere between the 1.3 and 1.4 MSI created the issue on the Venice. Perhaps that is where you can find the answer and solution to the problem.
Here are some articles that describe the issue on a ECS and Chaintech board that were remidied by a BIOS update. So the problem is not uncommon and should be able to be fixed.

Here is some other users data of NF4 SLI and Ultra MSI Neo4's if you want to see some other BIOS settings.
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=81364.0
Here is a screen shot of my Neo4 Plat SLI (MS-7100) 3.1 BIOS and CBBID Winchester(The Venice will NOT POST at all above [Adj CPU Freq] ~219-229 under any situation but is stable in Windows at HTT 250 with Clockgen). The system is stable and POST's when [HT Freq] is 3x, it will NOT at [HT freq] 4x which is stable in windows but won't POST.
    http://home.comcast.net/~aicjofs/cbbidMSI2501.jpg
Here is another screenshot of the Asus A8N Plat SLI with all peripherals the same. Only changed the motherboard. This is POSTing at [HT Freq] 4x. This is just as a reference that the components do indeed POST with [Adjust FSB freq] 250, [Memclock Index] 200, and [HT Freq] 4x. This board will POST both my 3200+ Venice and Winchester CBBID at the settings described above.

Good news and good work guy's
On a side note to chakkasol....
are you using coolbits 1 or 2?
I heard that coolbits2 is the one for our later cards
Good question - coolbits 2.  I happened to take a chance from this website and downloaded this file...ran it up against my antivirus and antispyware software and it looked clean.  I simply ran the program and viola, coolbits functionality automatically added to the winxp registry.  I cleaned out the msi DOT drivers first before I loaded this program.  Even though I have tweaked on occasion the winxp registry to speed things up and make winxp shut down quicker, this was too complicated for me to do on my own.
The highest overclock with the MSIs DOT is 11% at 555/1100.  My MSI card is actually very stable at 580/1160 for a 16% overclock.  I have gotten it to 600/1200 but I usually run the coolbits stability program a few times and it has never failed at 580/1160.  I am sure if I had a better cooling system than the stock fan it would probably go to 600/1200 or higher.  At a 3DMark05 of 4133 (and much higher if I could get it stable at 600/1200, I would be bumping up against the stock speeds of the 6800s vid cards.
EDIT: Of course, if you download this coolbits 2 program you do so at your own risk...I take no responsibility for the download.
    The coolbits download:

  • How can I make Office 2003 work with Lion?

Just made the switch to Lion only to find that Office 2003 was incompatible with the new OS. Any way to work around this or do I just need to upgrade to Office 2008 or 2011?

As Shawn said, if your copy of Office is a PC version, it won't work under Lion. You could try Virtual Box to run Windows on your Mac, or create a Windows boot partition.
If that's some old version of Office for Mac, then it won't run under Lion. This is because Lion does not include, and cannot run, Rosetta, which is the code converter which allowed old PPC-based Mac software to run on Intel-based Macs.
I second the notion of getting Pages. It's not expensive, it's easy to buy and install at the Mac App Store, and it works really well. It will read all of your Word files. Ditto for Numbers and Keynote.
You could also take a look at OpenOffice or NeoOffice. Both are free (the latest version of NeoOffice requires a $10 or higher donation, but the next-to-last version works fine and does not require a donation) and work well.

  • Will office 11 work with lion and old doc files?

I updated to Lion and my old office will not work... will office 11 be able to read and use my old office files ...word and excel?

Office 2011 will work with Lion, old doc files will work with 2011 as long as MS hasn't done something in Office 2011.  I have had no problems with files from as far back as office 2003 with 2011.

  • Office 2008 Install with Snow Leopard

Hi, anyone here found the best way to install/keep Microsoft Office 2008 on their Mac after upgrading to Snow Leopard, with auto update working? Is it best to do clean install or just update?

I have just installed Snow Leopard, and the only thing that I have noticed is that my system is running slightly faster than usual with more HDD space, though the latter is probably due to the new way of counting disk space.

  • Macbook Pro with SSD (optibay) and HDD. Want to clean install with discs and move hard drives.

    Hi all,
I have bought a used Macbook Pro 15' i5 Mid 2010 in brilliant condition. It came with original HDD in main Hard drive space and and SSD in an optibay. This all works fine and came with Mavericks already installed.
I want to start using the laptop like from new as there is nothing on there i currently need atm and dont want problems in the future with my apple id not being the original installer of mavericks. (had a similar problem previously on a used macbook white that had lion on)
What i want to do is erase and move the SSD to the main hard drive bay (have read this is preferred) and a clean install using install discs that came with it onto the SSD. Then install the HDD into the optibay or external enclosure and reinstall optical drive, not sure on that one yet.
My main questions are about the process i should use. There is nothing i need to back up or anything as this is effectively a new machine to me. Shall i simply erase the SSD (currently contains the OS) and install it in main hard drive bay and run install discs to install original OS (10.6.3)? Is it that simple?  Any tips on erasing SSD would be useful also?
Also as the machine currently boots from the SSD that is in the optibay, is there anything that tells the machine to boot from that hard drive as apposed to the main HDD bay or does it just know? If there is, when i install the SSD into main hard drive bay how do i tell the machine i have done so and to boot from there?
The other thing i may do is buy a new SSD and do a new install on that and leave the current SSD in the optibay and use that for storage. Undecided on that yet.
Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.
    Sam

To do what you want, and the only way to do what you want legally and physically, you will need a set of Original System Reinstall DVD Discs. Without them you can't do what you want as the install of Mavericks that is now on it is TIED to the previous owners Apple ID and can not be transferred and or Reinstalled without knowing that persons Apple ID. And even iof you knew it it would still be TIED to that Apple ID and not yours.
So did the previous owner supply the Original System Reinstall DVD disc Set? If not you will need to order them from Apple.

  • PA3541U-2PRP dynadock vga cannot install with win7 and latest drivers

Hello, I need help installing this on a Tecra A8 S8513.  I have Win7 professaional installed and I've tried to install the dynadock with all variations of drivers, letting Windows discover and install (bad 5.3 core was found) and using 7.03 and 7.1, 6.3 and 6.2.  None of them stop the infinite loop of the graphics setting for the first time and none of them solve the generic usb hub that it should have.  It's like the install is connecting and disconnecting in an infinite loop.  I've also tried (after dynadock failures) plugging in a usb mouse and the vga/rgb monitor directly to the three usb hubs in the rear and they don't even come up as new hardware.  I've searched here and all over the internet for solutions.  None have helped.

The first code block contains my Xorg.0.log however I just tryed modprove nvidia and recieved FATAL: Module nvidia not found. which I discovered was solved by someone here https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=961852 however when I tryed to do a pacman -S nvidia nvidia-utils I get a unresolved confilict with nvidia-304xx-utils which after trying to remove with pacman -Rs shows dependencies with cario, Im not sure how far back I should start removing things to solve this conflict or how to go abouts solving it
    +++++++++
    Update: Solved
    +++++++++
I did some more looking and found I could force the uninstall of nvidia-304xx-lts with pacman -Rdds nvidia-304xx-lts and after revisiting the Nvidia page on the wiki for the dozenth time I started thinking maybe I needed nvidia-304xx oposed to the lts release as google as kindly pointed out lts is long term support and maybe my kernel was not lts and thus conflicting.  This turned out to be the case, after removing the ofending lts version of the driver, replacing with the correct nvidia-304xx , another nvidia-xconfig and reboot followed by modprobe nvida and startxfce4 my wounderfull xfce is now running as I type this messsage in firefox.  Thank you for you help, as you asking about the modprobe output caused the chain of events leading to the success.

I just installed Arch base onto my system with my Nvidia GTS 250 Graphics card, however I am unable to start a x session after installing xfce4 and nvidia-304xx-lts followed by the command nvidia-xconfig and reboot.  When I try to issue startxfce4 I get an error pointing to /var/log/Xorg.0.log as follows

    Update: Solved

  • Adobe acrobat 8 won't install with Indesign and Dreamweaver CS4

I have a client who I had to build a new computer for which is Windows XP Pro. On her original machine I had AA8, InDesign CS4, DreamWeaver CS4, Contribute CS5, Adobe Reader 9.3 and Adobe Photoshop 6. I have tried puting AA8 on the new machine that has all of the above on it and I get a response that I have a newer version of AA and it won't install. I don't have any AA on this machine so I'm not sure what to do. She says she can't edit PDFs or combine them and that she can't create a PDF ind Word and Xcel and edit them. Should I tell her to upgrade to AA9 so that it is compatible to the CS4/5 products?
    Thanks,
    Lgarn

    Thank you Bill for replying.
I have been able to install the disc but it tells me that I have to activate it with a time limit of 30 days and counting.  Activation fails each time I've tried.  As I'm nearing the end of the time limit I decided to contact Adobe for advice.  They gave me a download package and new serial number but it's only suitable for OS XP and Windows 2000 so I'm unable to download it.  I was told by the advisor if I still had problems to use the forum as a means of support so that's why I'm talking to people here.
I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobate Pro 7, so I might try reinstalling the disc to see if it gives me another 30 days grace, that, at least, would be a way around it.
I'll now follow the link you've given me.   Though I do suspect I'm in a bit of a cul de sac.
