Office 2007 ans previous documents - Can't Open Files, contact your Admin

Troubles while saving files from Office 2007 (Windows XP).
Mac OS X Server 10.6.4 - AFP & SMB On
Windows XP Clients
Office 2007
Users not bound to the OpenDirectory of the server (AD is not used in this case)
Users connect as Guest to SMB sharing
When a user try to a save a file, some rights are changes when saving file.
Before saving the file, rights are :

If the user DUPLICATE this file before opening it, no troubles with rights
I tried to allow RWX for all (owner - group - others) in Samba sharing preferences : same situation
I was wondering if it could be a Guest Issue. Do you think trying to authenticate as a Referenced User (Guest no allowed) could fix ?
I also noticed that some ACL were present :

Hi Gurus, could you please help with this one.
I am trying to load Office 2007 and 2010 documents as custom documents in FDM. I can load the files successfully but when I try to open the loaded excel (xlsx) or word (docx) file, it opens up as a zip for me to save. Right protected Microsoft Office 2013 office documents can not open

Hello,
I am facing a problem with opening right protected Office 2013 documents. I can right protect Office 2013 documents with Windows 2008R2 ADRMS servers but when i email it to another user who is having Office 2013, document will not open and "configuring
your computer for information rights management" dialog box appear for long time without any change. I have attached the screen shot aswell.
Kindly help me to rectify this issue ASAP

I have seen something similar when your RMS pipeline URL is using SSL but the client opening the document does not have internet access.
What happens is the client tries to get a CRL from crl.Microsoft.com and eventually times out.
Does disabling CRL checking in IE change the behavior?

I tried Peggy's List > Select All > Copy > Paste into an AW spreadsheet suggestion.
In my case, pasting into the spreadsheet lost all text formatting (mostly text set to bold). The results of formulas were pasted, and checkboxes were pasted as "on" or "off". The DB did not contain any pop-up menus or radio buttons, but I expect they would transfer as a number showing the list position of the chosen item.
Pasting the copied List view data into a Numbers table gave a result similar to that with AppleWorks. I selected B2 as the target cell (for top left cell of the pasted data) to avoid any effects of posting into a header row or column. Bold and regular text formatting looked the same as it had in AW's List view.
Based on that, I'd slip the 'paste into an AppleWorks Spreadsheet step, and paste directly into a Numbers Table.

You can try a system restore to a point before the update. If you're lucky, it might work, but I often find System Restore will fail when you need it the most.

You will never be able to open this file with iWeb, because, as it states it is a User/Sites/index.html file and iWeb cannot open this files - anything with html on the end of it is already published and iWeb cannot open this. It is not the same as your domain file.
Go to User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites and try opening your domain file, rather than something that is already published. iWeb cannot import - at least not published pages.

Numbers 3.0.1 - Can't open file "Work.numbers"

Here's a iWork Numbers file, edited and successful saved yesterday to local folder, named Work.numbers.
Today this file not opening anymore. Number's says: "Can't open file ..." And just one button "OK".

What I done to try resolve this problem:
1. Checked permissions and repaired.
2. Tried to open file in iCloud web-editor - no result. iCloud says that it can't open this spreadsheet.
3. Tried to convert file via some online file type converters to xls document (i will not put link here). Converter says that I have wrong file format.
Also I tried to open file in some other programs. No luck.
That's all.
File Work.numbers has been closed correctly and was no errors. Unfortunately, we have no any backup copy of this file anywhere. I know, this is stupid, but question now: How can I repair this document? Is any repair tools for iWork files?
The file seems like has right structure.

Unzipping Index.zip is passing without errors. It has many "iwa" files with binnary content and I can't get data from it. But, data in that file is very important for one person.
Could anybody help me to resolve my problem to restore Numbers document?

I am using OS X 10.8 on a Mac. This may be different if you are using iOS.
Does Numbers'09 still exist in your Applications folder? Maybe inside a new folder? Perhaps you could use Numbers'09 to open your documents.

Snow Leopard 10.6.2 CS4 InDesign can't open files with a "#" in file path using any of these perfectly normal methods:
1. double-click file in the Finder (e.g in a Folder on your Mac or on your Mac desktop etc.)
2. select file and choose "File... Open" command-o in the Finder
3. drag file to the application icon in the Finder.
4. Select file in Bridge and double-click, choose File.. Open.. or Drag icon to InDesign icon in dock.
If you try to open an ID file named with a "#", you will get an error message "Missing required parameter 'from' for event 'open.'"
This happens to any InDesign file that has a "#" (pound sign, number sign, or hash) in the filename or in the file path (any parent folder).
To reproduce
Name an InDesign file Test#.idd Try to open it in the Finder or Bridge (as opposed to the "Open" dilaog of InDeisng itself).
"Solution"
The file WILL open using File... Open... command-o while in InDesign application.
Rename the file or folders that have a "#" (shift-3) in the filename.
Report to Adobe if it bugs you.
This does not occur in "plain" Leopard 10.5 nor Tiger 10.4
Untested in Panther or before and
Untested with CS3 and earlier in Snow Leaopard.
Anyone have those and want to try this... ?

In case this really bothers you: we've added a workaround for this into Soxy. If you enable the option, these documents will open fine on double-click.
You need Soxy 1.0.7 from:

Go to the 'Soxy' - 'Preferences' - 'Other' dialog window, and enable 'Open InDesign via Script'
(Irrelevant background info (it's all invisible to the user): the workaround works by special-casing how Soxy opens documents in InDesign: instead of using AppleScript, Soxy will use ExtendScript to instruct InDesign to open the document - which works fine).

Help! Whenever I try to open one important file on icloud pages it says 'can't open file' - on my computer and ipod, too! Can I retrieve it?

I have a very important document and it is saved only o the icloud (which I thought would be fine). Only now, whenever I try to open it it gives me the message 'can't open file'. I'm a PhD student, and that file represents a lot of work for me. I did it on the ipad because I had to travel, and now I'm kicking myself. I need that file! Is there any way to get it back?

Thanks for your suggestion - I have tried that like 50 times (I was feeling the desperation and thought if I reset enough times it would do it), and I have also tried turning off and on the cloud, adding .pages to the filenames, downloading (didn't work) emailing to myself (did work, wouldn't open). When I looked at the package contents of the file, it did not have a file for content in it - or not one I can find. I'm afraid that it's lost the content within the file (though I don't now how it could!).
I've not had any joy with anything else I have read online. I think it's a more knotty problem than a simple off/on again job!

Can't open files in Elements 6

I am a new mac user - switching from windows 3 weeks ago. Have Leopard installed on macbook pro and just bought Elements 6. I made Elements the default editor in Iphoto, however, can't open files in Elements nor in the Bridge that came with Elements. Also, the photos don't even show up in Bridge! Are they supposed to? I used Elements in Windows - had no trouble. Are Iphoto & Elements really compatible? What am I doing wrong?

The problem is your workflow. If you use iphoto, you don't use bridge, and you should never poke around in the iphoto library from any program except iphoto, since that's a fast road to corrupting the library, which is as delicate as a gardenia about being touched by anything but iphoto.
You have two choices:
1. Set PSE as your external editor from iphoto in the iphoto preferences, then send your photos directly from iphoto to PSE. If you do that, Save, not Save As, without making any changes to the name or format of your photo and iphoto will keep one version + original for you. If you save another group of edits, it will replace the previous version.
2. Export the photos from iphoto to your desktop or somewhere and then use File>Open in PSE, save the photos under new names and reimport them to iphoto as new files.
If you prefer to use Bridge, then don't use iphoto. Trying to use both is a shortcut to madness.

Keynote error message: "Can't open file..."

I use Keynote almost every for work. Recently I got this message "Can’t open file [insert file name]". I thought if I update to Lion and then got Keynote '09 I would fix the problem. Unfortunately it did nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have been searching through posts and I have noticed some that are very similar to this question, but are not exactly related. My domain file worked fine before upgrading to iWeb09. Now I get the error: can't open file "~/sites/index.html." Has anyone found a way to import the iWeb08 domain file into version 09?

Can't open file 2

I have a finished project in indesign. It crashed and now it won't open and I'm freaking out. I'm new to Mac, and can't seem to either locate or open the autosave file. The error message reads "can't open file, may not support format missing plug in, etc. I read the previous post but none of it seems to apply. the program crashed while printing to a .pdf.

There is no "autosave" file that you would be able to open independent of the application.
Generally, when ID crashes it will attempt to recover any file that was open at the time of the crash when you relaunch. If the recovery data is corrupt you might see an error message, but usually the program will crash again, and the next restart will bring up a dialog asking if you want to recover. If you say "no" at that point ID should launch, but your previous file will not be recovered, and the recovery data becomes useless.
At this point are you able to open InDesign at all? Do you have any copies of the file as backup anywhere?
