Office 2007 Long loading and saving times

I have a small network with a PC unit running windows 7 HP acting as a fileserver with an attached external hard drive being the primary storage location. It is mapped to about 8 PC's all running windows 7 HP with MS Office enterprise 2007 The users are
reporting and I have confirmed extremely long download/load times when opening excel spreadsheets. They have reported when saving a file to the shared drive extremely long wait times and sometimes the program crashes. I have not seen the saving issue or been
able to recreate it. If the file is on the local PC then it opens normally. When its from the shared directory it says downloading at the bottom and has a progress bar. Biggest spreadsheet they work with is about 315kb and it sometimes takes upwards of
a min to download.
I have gone through a dozen suggested solutions, gone through the shared settings with a fine tooth comb. Remapped the drive numerous times. I have uninstalled Office validation, I have enable add ins, disabled all add ins, made registry changes to security
keys. I have disabled the anti-virus on both ends. I have ensured that no old network printers or devices are still installed. All windows and office updates have been applied. I am at my whits end on this one. Anyone have any suggestions?

To be honest with you, You will not get any better speed then this from a USB 2 hard drive. May be better to add extra HD in the server.

i do not know how to handle this problem. i modifed a texteditor to send XML to a server and load XML back to the container.
but then i do changes to the Textlayout it shows up like this --->

its a modified example of the texteditor provided by Adobe. You can send a xml to the server. and also read it from the server. You just use the xml identifer to give the xml a name.
Try it out:
1. change the text and
2. give a XML-Identifer
   and then send it to the server. --> send to server
3. type in the XML-Identifer you have used and
4.   load it from the server ---> Load from Server Button
evering works ok exept the columns formating.
I Think the colums Formating is not embeded in the XML as it should be. I attached the Files. (Newbie programmer)

Sounds like you have two different issues going on: (1) inline graphics aren't coming out correctly when you use the TextLineFactory, and (2) columns aren't working correctly. It's difficult for me to tell by looking at the application you link what is going wrong. One of the examples does seem to have columns working -- can you be more specific about what you're doing, and what results you are seeing? As for the inline graphics, there is a timing issue involved with using URLs, due to the asynchronous loading. See this comment in the docs for TextFlowTextLineFactory:
Note: When using inline graphics, the source property of the InlineGraphicElement object   must either be an instance of a DisplayObject or a Class object representing an embedded asset.   URLRequest objects cannot be used. The width and height of the inline graphic at the time the line   is created is used to compose the flow.

Problem of long loading and processing file in outlook 2010 of domain user

Dear all,
I have a problem on long loading and processing file when every open outlook 2010
This problem occur when I join my computer to domain (window server 2008 r2) and set outlook of domain user to use shared .pst file, owner by administrator of that computer. Every time when log in to domain user and I open the outlook, it will take very
long time to loading and processing the file, moreover it always ask password of the email I have set. However, when I finish input password and it is finish send/receive the email, the program work normally.
I also try with another user account which is the administrator of that computer, the program run very fast and work normally.
I am not sure the problem is caused from, or is it the wrong way to share .pst file with another user? Any suggestions please give to me.

Is anyone else experiencing long restart and shutdown times?

I installed Mavericks the day it came out. I am experiencing very long restart and shutdown times, well over 2 minutes. I thought the shutdown times with Mountain Lion were bad. Is anyone else having this issue? If so, how did you fix it?

Windows 7 + Office 2007 & 2010 VERY slow saving files to on 2008 R2 files shares

OK I have litterally tried everthing in every forum there is to resolve this. It is only happening on our Win 7 workstations that are running Office 2007 or 2010. Our file shares are on a 2008 R2 server. Opening and saving files on the shares using
Office is very slow. I have tried updates and server and workstations are 100% up to date. The server is only running as a file share server. Nothing else on it. We have completely set up new PC's to test with clean Win 7 installs and nothing else except Office.
Nothing else on the network is slow at all. I have tried all the hotfixes in the world that could relate to this from many hours of research into possible causes. I have done the EnableShellDataCaching fix, the SMB 2 disable fix, the windows search/indexer
fix, the pdfmaker fix, the lookup wizard add-in fix, the go to the newest firmware on the cisco switch fix, update workstation nic driver fix, the Trusted Locations in Excel fix, and about a dozen other fixes. NOTHING WORKS! This has brought our Win 7
and Office 2007/2010 users to a halt in their ability to do their jobs. Our company is suffering badly. And did I mention that our IT dept is getting a lot of heat and criticism about it. FYI we are running an IBM E5450 with dual multi-thread
multi-core(8) 3 Mhz Intel Xeon processors with 2008 R2 64-bit, 12 GB ram, and the server is using litterally no resources. Network connected is Gigabit. This has to be a Microsoft issue with 2008/Win 7/Office 2007&2010. This has become a nightmare for
out IT dept and has consumed weeks of our time when we need to be working on other projects. Can anyone solve this. Microsoft: Please release a REAL fix for this that we can run on the server or push via GPO to the workstations.

At this time, I suggest trying to start Excel in safe mode. Then, open the Excel file or create a new Excel file, and save the file to the network again.
Start the Excel program in safe mode
1.       Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to Microsoft Office.
2.        Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the Microsoft Excel.
If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Excel program, we can try to disable them. Normally, you could do the following to disable the conflict add-ins in your Excel program:
Disable add-ins
Click File menu, click Options > Add-in, click Go button in the Manage: Com-in Add.
Check if there are any add-ins, clear the checkbox to disable them.
Close the Office program and restart it.
Add one check back each time to the list of Add-In, restart the Office program, and repeat the above procedure. Once the issue reappears again, we can determine which add-in causes this problem and then disable it.

Let’s disable all startup items and third party services when booting. This method will help us determine if this issue is caused by a loading program or service. Please perform the following steps:
1.       Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Start Search box, and then press Enter.
Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window.
2.        Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray).
3.       Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK".
Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK.
Note: Temporarily disabling the Startup Group only prevents the startup programs from loading at startup. This should not affect the system or other programs. We may still manually run these programs later.

Office 2007 Configuration wizard runs every time I start any Application (word, excel, etc)

I've installed Office 2007 Enterprise on my Vista x64 system, but when I'm
starting any of the Office apps, Office runs a setup/configuration prog
(Office is collecting/gathering setup information or something like that).
My event log has produced
numerous warnings, on of the more significant is :
Detection of product '{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE}', feature
'ProductFiles', component '{6252B847-BADA-43D4-9252-E39767FA40A1}'
failed. The resource 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.pip\' does not exist.
I tried to access the HCR\.pip\ key in Regedit and receive the
following message:
"Error Opening Key
..pip can not be opened.
An error is preventing this key from being opened.
Details: Access is denied."
I have tried the Windows Installer Clean up utility to remove all
traces of Office, cleaned the registry, reinstalled Office 2007
4 times and still have the install/configuring messages popping up
upon loading the Office programs..
ANY information would be appreciated !!!

Start Menu->Control Panel->AdministrativeTools->EventViewer (Hurray, we have the so called found event viewer)
Then hit 'Application', which brings
Type , Date, time, source bla bla window in which the events are listed.
I started reading them one by one. Once you hit a line (information), 'event properties ' window opens. You can see that there are arrow buttons to scroll down and up among the events. And there is the 'description' part in the same window. While scrolling thru all messages (information lines), I came across the follwing messages in the 'description' section:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( ServiceLayer ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: Service started.
Another event's description was:
The description for Event ID ( 0 ) in Source ( gupdate1c99657ceb0c142 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. As you may have recognized message mentions about 'Event ID ( 0 )'.
So I followed Mazen's directions and replicated ID_00030.DPC and renamed the replica as ID_00000.DPC
Now it is working without any configuration pop up. By the way, before creating ID_00000.DPC, I had already tried ID_00011.DPC and ID_00051.DPC. Now I have four .dpc files (0,30,11,51) in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
As Office2007 application is starting fast now, I don't bother about them (i guess/hope it is ok).

Photoshop elements no longer loads and closes after

I recently upgraded my Lightroom to 5.4 and now my Photoshop elements no longer loads properly. Once I start the program is gets to the Organize and Edit screen and if I choose Organize the program immediately closes. Any ideas since I seem to no longer be able to just call Adobe and talk to a real person and get an immediate answer.

Try trashing any preference files Elements creates: user/Library/Preferences. Other than that try re-installing the software. You could also ask on the Adobe forum area at their web site.

Office 2007 Ribbon Bar and Icons in LabVIEW

Hi all,
I've seen that with Visual Studio you can create applications which use the very nice Office 2007 Ribbon (menu) bar. Microsoft has also made available the Office 2007 icons via an Excel spreadsheet.
I would very much like to use a ribbon bar and these icons in a LabVIEW application. Does anyone know how to do this?

I assume MS provides the functionality in Visual Studio via a .Net interface. You should be able to use the same .Net interface with LabVIEW.

Loading and Saving problem in 2D space based rpg

I am implementing a system in which the game saves the offset of the default position of an object in space and the object's position when the game is saved and applying that to the objects when the game is loaded. I get a strange problem however where every other undock after loading the game is far far away in space. I think it has something to do with the saved position of the object you docked with. Here is the code involved in loading the game (it just calls IO.java via dataAgent and gets data from a file)

Adding and subtracting 1 durring load and save solved the problem of the java file reader skipping the 0 values in the first few lines of the saved game file.
The game is loaded when the game starts and saved when you dock.

Website images will sometimes load and other times I get the blue square?

Does anyone know how to resolve the following:
frequently visited websites will load images and then while searching the website (i.e. vrbo.com) the images will no longer appear and I'll see the blue square and "?". Why does this happen and how can I change this?

If you are using Safari, from the menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Appearance tab.
Select the box next to: Display images when the page opens
You may need to Quit Safari then restart in order for the changes to take effect.

Premiere Pro 2014 Cross Fades don't save and or load and saved audio drops???

For no apparent reason premiere pro 2014 will not save cross fades... it saves them but wont load them
Audio is dropping out ....
I was given a project to make some changes to and every time I open it I need to recreate the cross fades and then export it and then check it and then recreate the cross fades that didn't export and then hope for the best!!
this is so unstable and there seems to be no apparent reason
any help would be magnificent

Please check this blog post. Updating from Time Machine can cause this issue: Premiere Pro CC, CC 2014, or 2014.1 freezing on startup or crashing while working (Mac OS X 10.9, and later).

PDF addresses not longer load and display PDF in Firefox and solutions suggest to other users with problem DON'T WORK (work fine in Chrome and Safari)

This is an ongoing problem with other users. When putting a PDF in address window of Firefox and clicking go to address FIREFOX WILL NOT LOAD AND DISPLAY THE PDF. This problem has come up in questions from other users on your site. NONE OF THE SUGGESTED SOLUTIONS WORK! (trying either the Firefox PDF viewer or the Acrobat viewer as default viewer)
I am using Firefox 23.0.1 (as some of the other users with the same problem). This was not a problem in the past with Firefox. Safari and Chrome continue load and display PDFs just fine from their addresses. This is a big problem as I now have to inform people who want to view my PDFs NOT TO USE FIREFOX BUT TO USE SAFARI OR CHROME.

It appears that a link to a PDF on an internet page will not download in Firefox either!

and tried to download the PDF link at the bottom of the page (Download: PDF 11.3 MB) It didn't work! Nothing happens. Tried it in Safari and it worked flawlessly.
I have a PDF file of my work in the public_html folder on my URL. I give the address generated by that file to people who want to view my work---this works perfectly in Safari and Chrome. As to your other question, can't bookmark it if I can't get to it in Firefox.

Problems loading and saving pdf files from sites with latest version.

On my utilities I wish to download and save pdf files of my e-bill.
Lately when I click on getting bill, Firefox opens new tab and stops.
with a light message in url place saying "Type a web address".
To get around this I must do a right click on the save bill and
select open in new window, then it opens a new copy of Firefox,
and two tabs, with the second one asking me to use Adobe to see
pdf file. I tell it to open and then save it and print it from the tab
that opens with the pdf file in it. This never happened before was
always able to just click on link and it would open new tab with
pdf file there.

What I want to be able to do is to click on a PDF file in my Firefox browser and be able to save it as an Adobe PDF file, not a Preview PDF file, in any folder on my computer, rather than just the specified default location for downloads. This way I can save, for example, phone bills in the phone bills folder and bank statements in the bank statements folder without having to save them to the desktop, "Get Info" on each, and change the "Open with:" box from Preview to Adobe Reader.

Thanks for your help. Now, within my Firefox browser, I can choose whether to view or download PDF files, always in Adobe rather than Preview, and when I save them I get the option to choose the location each and every time.

WRT320N Long ping and latency times

I have scoured the board here and still can not seem to resolve my problem. I have Cox as my ISP. My set-up is as follows. Motorola cable modem>WRT320N>Trendnet 8 port Gigabit switch. The switch leads out to 3 computers and an ioBox (Network Media Tank). The computers are running Win7, WinXP and Windows Home Server, all with gigabit nic's. When I connect a single computer from either the switch or directly from the cable modem, I have blazing speeds and my ping and latency times are awesome (75ms avg) and my jitter times are around 2ms. As soon as I connect the remaining computers (either all at once or one at a time), my times plumet. Now I am pinging at 500ms and my jitter is around 43ms.
I have tried many things, reinstalled firmware, reboot and a reset, changed out the switch, connect only one computer to switch and the rest from router. I am at a loss now. It seems like after I reboot a computer, my speeds are ok for about 5-10mins and then back to slow again. This does not happen everytime though after a reboot.
The wireless is used by the kids to connect their iTouch and laptop. It is encrypted with WPA2. Speed on the wifi laptop are slow too.
I have had the cable company out here and everything is ok from box to house to router. Any help would be great!!

Great suggestion, I tried that one yesterday too.
As I have been doing more "investigating", is seems like after all my computers are connected via modem>router>switch, all of them have excellent ping times and low jitter, then after about 5-10mins, everything just goes to crap again.
I did do some reading on there being too many people in my neighborhood being on the same channel (no more than 250 people on a download channel) and suggested I change the channel. I went into my modem page and it does not give me the option to change it.
OR, could it be that my signal just weakens after I have all my computers hooked up? I am not sure on the specifics of how that really works, would my cable company just need to increase my signal?
