Office 2007 won't show embedded images

For some reason Outlook 2007 has stopped showing images.  When you click the bar to download pictures it trys to load them but displays the red x to tell you they can't be loaded.  I have read quite a few forums to try and find a solution and I have tried a few things:
- recreated the outlook profile
- emptied the temp folder
- changed the location of the temp folder (HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Security\Securetemp)
- turned off antivirus (although there are no privacy components in the antivirus in use)
- reset security zones in IE
- changed trust settings
Would anyone have any other suggestions of things I can try or a way of perhaps diagnosing the problem?
Thanks in advance
tooner

Vinod,
That worked for me. I have tried so many items that it is great to finally figure out what the problem was.
Thank you so much!
Gene
With the relevant email message open click on the Office button in the top left>click on Editor Options on the bottom right>click on Advanced on the menu on the left>then under 'Display e-mail content' uncheck 'Show picture placeholders'.

  • Mail not showing embedded images

This problem has been bugging me for a while.
I am getting some emails (from my company communications) that are incorrectly formatted by Mail. I see big boxes labeled "Missing Plug-in". The rest of the text is there, but those big boxes make the mail hard to read.
So today I decided to look a bit deeper into the problem. I brought it down to the presence of image tags that call for embedded images (included as attachments) using the "cid:" protocol. For example:
    <img src="cid:[email protected]" alt="Find" border="0">
Is this a restriction in mail (I am running mail 6.1 on Mountain Lion). Or is there some config parameter I need to tweek to enable support for embedded images ?
Thunderbird has no problem. I also did a quick check with Google Mail and Yahoo Mail, and neither show the images. But they just show nothing, so the resulting email is still readable. Mac OSX Mail shows big boxes with the "Missing Plug-in" note. I would be happy if Mail just ignored the images.
I should point out that mail on iPhone and iPad work fine (they display the images).

Try this - worked for me...
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/20652845#20652845
If that doesn't link properly, here's the original solution, cut and pasted:
    "MailPluginFix"
    From the Code2K:Labs site: http://code2k.net/products/mailpluginfix/
    From MacUpdate: http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/37804/mailpluginfix
Just download the fix and double-click it - next time you open mail, you'll see your attachments.

  • Crystal HTML viewer will not show embedded image from Infoview image store

I am having an issue with the html and dhtml viewers not showing an image I have embedded inside a crystal report.  The image has been stored in infoview and embedded into the report from that source.  Using the Crystal ActiveX viewer works fine in this case and shows the image.  The html viewers however show the blank box with the red X in the top left corner when Internet explorer can't find an image.
Now, if I right click on the image and get it's properties I get this URL:
    http://vsx2af0x/crystalreportviewers115/imagehandlerdotnetbridge.aspx?dynamicimage={B8FDE586-08D3-4A14-896C-0FE19AC3DB90}.png
If I take that url and try to load it directly through Internet explorer I get the following error:
Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown.
The file is small and only about 20k in size.  If someone can help that would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

Unfortunately I have been unable to remove the plug-in. The files is not locked, or shared, but my operating systems thinks it is.
    What happens, when you try?
When I try to delete the plug-in from
         /Library/Application Support/Aperture/Plug-Ins/Google/Analog Efex Pro/
with ⌘⌫, I simply get the pop-up panel to enter my administrator password, and the plug-in will be moved to the Trash:
Don't forget to quit Aperture, before trying to remove the plug-in and to log off and on.

  • MIME emails not showing embedded images

    Hello.
When I receive e-mails from a GroupWare solution (extra.groupcare.dk), embedded images are not shown in Mail 3.4. If I use Gmail or any version of Microsoft Outlook, even Mail 2.1 on Tiger it works fine.
The images are shown as mime-attachment-x, and can be viewed with quick look.

    Hope you can help!

I tried to convert your base64 code and it seemed valid.
The situation you describe is normal to me, though, because I have unticked "Show external images in HTML-messages" in Mail's preferences to save bandwidth when I'm on a mobile connection or similar. Whenever i get one of thoses HTML-mails, e.g. from iTunes Store with a lot of missing images, there will be a blue field at the top of the mail window stating that "This messages contents unloaded images" (or whatever the English translation would be). Additionally, there's a "Download images"-button to get the the missing images.
I don't want to be unpolite, but could that be the case for you too?

  • Preview fails to show embedded images

    Hi,
Preview.app fails to display certain embedded images, such as throughout the article <http://www.claymath.org/library/seniorscholars/zaslowphysmatics.pdf>. Adobe Reader shows them with aplomb. For what it's worth, Manfred Shubert's PDF plug-in (within Safari) also fails to show the embedded images.
This failure consistently occurs on all Macs at the Physics Department at Howard University, using the latest Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Preview v.3.0.8, accross a large variety of hardware (PowerMacs, PowerBooks, iMacs and iBooks).
Is this a bug, or a prorietary PDF feature of Adobe's? Can anyone reproduce it?
    Thanks, Tristan
    G4 PowerBook   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Hi, Tristan.
I can reproduce the problem with Mac OS X 10.4.8 and Preview Version 3.0.8 (409), i.e. the latest version of Preview.
The images display correctly in Adobe Acrobat 7.0.8 (latest).
Checking its the Document Properties in Acrobat, the document is PDF Version 1.3 (Acrobat 4.x), so it should work in Preview. However, it also notes that the PDF was produced by AFPL Ghostscript 8.0, so something in the document's PDF formatting with Ghostscript may not be copacetic with Preview.
I notice when I open the file in Preview, I see a number of the following messages appear in console.log:
    invalid image /ColorSpace value.
    invalid image /ColorSpace value.
    invalid image /ColorSpace value.
There may be a specific color space or Colorsync profile embedded in the images or the PDF that is causing the problem in Preview.
    Good luck!
    Dr. Smoke

  • Print won't show repositioned image

I'm using PSE3 on Windows XP. All my images are with an aspect ratio of 1.33 and I'm printing on paper with aspect ratio of 1.5. I'm resizing the image to a width of 6" and thus the height is more than 4.0". To get the bottom part of the image showing I uncheck 'Center Image' and enter -0.35" in "Position - Top'to be sure that the bottom part is showing. The Print Preview does show the image as I like to have it printed, but the print shows the image like it is still centered. What do I need to do to get it 'uncentered'?

    Bert,
I'm not sure I understand you correctly. Are you trying to tell the printer to print a 4.5 tall image as as 4" tall one just by repositioning it? I'm far from a printing expert, but I don't think that is possible. You have to crop it to the right size.
Or maybe you can flip it upside down. Then it will leave out what is now the top.
Also, when you say "Print Preview Dialog", are you talking about PSE's dialog? I don't have PSE3, so don't know exactly what you are seeing. You need to set the printer's own dialog. The one that comes up when you click "Preferences", before you click the final print command.
If you ever find out how to do it your way, I'd be interested to know. I sometimes like to print odd-sized greeting or thank you cards. My solution is to cut them out after they are printed. Not ideal!
    Rita

When I try to import images from a recently acquired Panasonic LF1 camera Aperture only shows movie clips and not the JPEGs. The Import Settings for file types does not exclude anything. Importing is fine  from other folders.
    Thoughts, please.

When I try to import images from a recently acquired Panasonic LF1 camera Aperture only shows movie clips and not the JPEGs.
And how are the settings in the "raw&jpeg pairs" brick of the import panel? If that is set to "raw only", your jpegs will not be imported. Set the raw&jepg option to "both, jpeg as master"
The raw format of your camera does not yet appear to be supported.

  • Mac Mail has problems to display HTML embedded images

Well Im new here , but have a real problem.
I create  HTML pages with embedded images and send them off as MIME/multipart etc. mail through active server pages.
So far so good. All PC users see the mails with 2 embedded images at correct positions using windows e-mail .
However all Mac users receiving this mail have a problem,  then MAC mail show embedded images just as a box , the 2 images become attachements of the email.
If a PC user forwards such a  received HTML e-mail to a MAC user , the MAC Mail sees the 2 images are correctly displayed.
Thanks for hints and comments .

    Hello BDAqua
Thanks for the dump hint - I could use it.
Well I have not been able to track down the exact cause of the problem, but at the end I have succeeded to see the pictures even on the Mac. Initially , because I tested the HTML code against Safari/Foxpro/IE9 with success and the PC's received it as a mail  perfect with the pictures , I ruled out the code.
After sending it with various different parameters for 7-bit coding , multipart/alternative; multipart/mixed, with and without alternative ascii-text body, etc. and having no change of the problem (in one instance Mac stuck the pictures at the end of the mail instead of having it as attachement - but never displayed inside the page) I thought about the HTMLcode again (the mail small but was consisting of a cluster of multi nested tables, where in the pictures where placed). I started from scratch with one simple table and one picture - and saw it also on the Mac, so repeated reconstruction every table layer and picture with testing each step again - and at the end - it worked all. So my conclusion is that the mentioned browsers and windows mail are made more HTML fault tolerant for little code mistakes than mac mail.  It seems that when forwarding the page from windows-mail to Mac mail , windows even corrects and thats why then it was seen ok on the Mac.
I think that a number of people had similiar experiences. I contacted one advertising company (all Mac freaks and only Mac's there, they do a lot of Internet/Intranet design and develeopments for large companies) and asked them wether they know of any hints or problems - they simply said forget it it's not possible - which is not true - but seeing the HTML correct in all browsers doesn't mean it might ok for the mac mail.
Well any way I now know where I am and know where to look if suddenly a picture is not shown anymore...
Thanks for the help and all the best.
    Rgds

  • Images on Tumblr and embeded videos won't show up

The image/gif problem is only on Tumblr (as far as I saw), but it's as if the images weren't even there. (the way I see it, it only happens when I'm browsing through someone's tumblr, but when I enter a tag every picture showes, and on my dashboard as well). when I press reload, it reloads the entire site without the pictures. I tried a link on internet explorer and google chrome: it showed the pictures on IE, but not on GC. At first I thought it was because I didn't update firefox, but it showed up even after I updated everything (including adds-on). I also cleared my cookies and cache, and tried other things but nothing worked.
Embedded videos won't show up anywhere.

If images are missing then check that you aren't blocking images from some domains.
*check the permissions for the domain in the current tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions" or all domains via the about:permissions page
*check that images are enabled: Tools > Options > Content: [X] Load images automatically
*check the exceptions in "Tools > Options > Content: Load Images > Exceptions"
*check the "Tools > Page Info > Media" tab for blocked images (scroll through all the images with the cursor Down key).
If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "<i>Block Images from...</i>" then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
Make sure that you do not block third-party images, the permissions.default.image pref should be 1.
There are also extensions (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and security software (firewall, anti-virus) that can block images.

  • Embedded images not showing up as Attachments!!!

The issue is when an inline embedded image within an email arrives, it does not show up as an attachment. This used to happen, however I migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 and this has changed.
My question is how do I configure exchange or outlook to create the attachment when the embedded image is in the body of the email?
Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance!
    Thomas

    Hi,
By "it does not show up as an attachment", do you mean it doesn't show the paperclip icon in Outlook?
Are you inserting the image using Insert tab > Pictures? If this is the case, Outlook won't show the paperclip icon or list these images as separate attachments by default. You said "This used to happen", did you use Outlook as email
client before? If not, which email client did you use?
If you want to show the paperclip icon in Outlook, the only way I know is to add the image via Insert > Attach File.

  • Embedded images in Word documents are incorrect on one computer but show up fine on another computer

I've not been able to find the root of the problem, but I use an application on my laptop that generates images in a document, and the document can be saved either with docx or htm/html extensions. On the laptop, I see the correct images. When I transfer
the document to my workstation either over the network or by a flash drive, the incorrect images pop up - images from a project that I was working on last summer. If I save the documents as a doc on my laptop, the correct images show up on my desktop. This
happens on many documents that I use, but I do have a document I use as a template. I'd prefer not to create another one, because it is quite involved.
When the incorrect images show up on my workstation, I can save the document to a flash drive (you would think with the incorrect images also being saved), but the correct images show up on my laptop.
This is frustrating to always have to work around this, but I've searched Google and really haven't found anyone else having a problem very close to this. Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hi,
I'm actually thinking whether the issue is related to Office version. What are the versions of Office on your laptop and workstation?
Based on the description, the issue doesn't occur if the document is saved as .doc, it only occurs if the document is saved as .docx, so basically we can say your workstation doesn't support .docx well. Is it a version prior to Office 2007?

  • Acrobat Pro 8.1.2 won't create PDFs by itself or within an Office 2007 application. Please help.

Well, needless to say, everything was working fine when our department was running Acrobat 7 and Office 2003. We made the choice a few weeks ago to upgrade to Office 2007 and Acrobat 8. Both are pushed via Group Policy. One other thing to note, as I think it might be an issue, is that our users have their My Documents redirected to a server. I only mention this, because the Default PDF Output Folder within Acrobat 8 is My Documents.
Here are the strange things that we've noticed so far:
    1) When you open up the Adobe PDF Properties within Printers and Faxes, the Location displays an "x" followed by two non-standard box characters that I can't seem to write out here. I've uploaded a screen shot if that makes it easier. On a manually installed copy of Acrobat 8, this location box will say My Documents.
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_weird_characters.png
    2) The Adobe PDF printer port grabs LPT1, even if there is another printer already on that port. This behavior is seen when being pushed via GPO. When it's manually installed via the disc, Adobe PDF gets it's own special port "My Documents\*.pdf" with a description of "Adobe PDF Port". When I try to see if I can add such a port on the GPO pushed computers, it doesn't list it as an option. Here again are two screen shots to show what I'm talking about.
    Weird Port:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_weird_port.png
    Adobe Port:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_correct_port.png
Ok, so those are just the oddities seen after performing a GPO installation.
    3) When I right click on a Word 2007 (*.docx) file and choose "Convert to Adobe PDF", it asks me where I want to save the newly created PDF at. It will start converting it, but a few seconds later a balloon error pops up saying that the document failed to print.
    4) When I try to create a PDF via the Word 2007 ribbon add-on for Acrobat, I get the same error.
I decided to bump a standard user up to administrator of the local machine. All these errors go away and they can create PDFs to their heart's content. As soon as I bump them back down to a standard user, new errors arise.
    5) Now when they try to create a PDF, they get prompted TWICE for the PDF Save As location. When I click on Convert to PDF via the context menu of the Word 2007 file, I get the Adobe PDF Status box, then a few seconds later, I get the Save Adobe PDF File As box. I tell it where to save the PDF to. I then get a second box asking me where to save the PDF to, but it's titled different. This new box is "Save PDF File As". Whatever location I choose there, I get an Access Denied error and an Adobe Printer error that the document has failed to print. I've created screen shots of those as well. Here they are in order:
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_01.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_02.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_03.png
    http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g223/daedalus42/adobe_access_denied_04.png
Does anyone have any solutions whatsoever to fix this? I'm not about to go around to 100 computers and install Acrobat manually when it should work correctly via GPO. If Acrobat doesn't like the fact that a user My Documents is redirected to the server, I noticed that I can change the default PDF file location within the Adobe Customization Wizard. I've not tested that yet to see if it would even help.
I should mention that I have tried running a repair. Didn't help. Uninstalling and reinstalling via GPO. Didn't help. So, we've installed the Microsoft Office PDF Creator plug-in and that works perfectly. For the time being Acrobat Pro has basically dropped itself down to a reader for all intents and purposes.

@ Bill@VT: I did try adding a port. That's the problem. When it's on a problematic installation, those special Adobe Port aren't available for me to choose from.
OK, I have some new information regarding my issue. I've done some more testing and this is what I have learned and how I arrived at that conclusion.
b It appears to be an issue with the 8.1.2 update.
    1) I manually installed Acrobat 8.0.0 via the executable file I downloaded from Adobe Licensing. I had to go through all the installation prompts, enter the serial key, accept the EULA, etc. I even applied the 8.1.0 update. At this point, everything was fine. Any user on this computer could create PDFs via any method. The Adobe PDF Port was correct and no listed under LPT1 like in the above screen shots. And My Documents was listed as the Default PDF Location, even though users have their My Docs redirected to the server. Like I said, everything worked perfectly.
    2) I decided to install via the Administrative Install Point (AIP) on the server for Acrobat 8.1.2 and the corresponding transform file. After doing this, the problems came back. My first assumption is that the transform file is causing the problem.
    3) To verify that it was in fact the transform file I perform an install from the AIP using the AcroPro.msi file only. No switches and no transform file. Guess what? Problems are still there. So, that wipes out the transform file problem.
    A couple of notes:
It could be related to the AIP and doing administrative installation upgrades to 8.1.2. My next test is to install 8.0.0 from scratch and manually upgrade that installation to 8.1.0, then 8.1.1, then 8.1.2 to find out when and if it breaks.
I was able to get a contact number for Adobe's "Volume Licensing" department, so I might end up giving them a call. In fact, even if I narrow down what appears to be the problem, I'm still going to have to give them a call to find out what can be done about it. Because at the moment, the issue is there for 100+ users and something needs to be fixed. All I'm doing at this point is working backwards to figure out what may have caused the problem in the first place.

  • Images won't show up when I try to upload online

    Hi
I need help to figure out why my photos won't show up when I try to upload them online (e.g. Facebook, Pinterest, Google+). All of my photos are in iPhoto and it used to work fine until I updated to ver 9.3 a coupe of days ago. When I open iPhoto, it shows all the images but when I try to upload something, I couldn't find my photos so I end up copying them to my desktop first which is very inconvenient, especially if I am uploading severa photos. It works alright when I attach photos in Outlook though, so I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot!
PS I did some screen shots if that would help explain things better. By the way, my OS version is 10.7.4, if that is relevant at all?
This is my iPhoto right now.
This is how it looks like when I open Photo Browser or attach an image to an email via Outlook.
This is what it looks like when I try to upload images on to Facebook, Google+, Tumblr, etc.

Where did you get the phone?
If you see an ICCID unknown in Settings>General>About, that indicates a catastrophic failure. Very often this is caused by hacking or jailbreaking the phone. It can not be fixed. The phone will have to be replaced.

  • Why won't copy/paste images appear in PDF (from Word 2007)?

I find all places in a Word 2007 document where content copied from Power Point 2007 and then pasted into a Word 2007 document does not appear in the subsequent PDF file I generate. White space of the same size as the pasted content appears in its place. Why is this happening and are there any suggestions to work around this issue? What is curious is the free PDF creation tool that you can use to generate a PDF within Word 2007 (by choosing file save-as PDF) does NOT have this same issue. I don't want to use Word's tool since it doesn't allow for the option settings flexibility I need to produce the final PDF.
I already tried saving the Word file as XML and then re-saving as Word .docx and regenerating the PDF from Acrobat: the graphics are still missing. I also tried in Acrobat Help> Repair Installation and then shut down/restarted my computer. Again, the regenerated PDF is missing the graphics.
Personally, I do not use a copy/paste method; rather, I use insert>picture>from file or paste special as a grphic file type. I know the same graphics placed this way come out fine in a PDF I generate from Acrobat. However, I support a bunch of engineers who make copy/paste a shortcut habit. I will have no luck telling them not to do this.
I appreciate any help with this.

Preferences in Acrobat reader under Page Display are already set to Show Large Images. I assume that is the setting you mentioned.
I don't know of any setting in Word 2007 that would make a difference. Does anyone else have work around suggestions?
