Office 2008 won't start after migration

I recently replaced my hard drive.  After doing so, I migrated all my applications and files from another computer and updated to Maverick.  Now every time I try to open any office file, Setup Assistant opens and asked if I would like to do some survey, then goes to "Learn more... or Register"  When I push register it takes me to a site that tells me I no longer need to register. I can't open any file in Office.

Contact Microsoft, you're having a licensing issue.

  • MS Office 2008 doesn't load after migration to MacBook Air

My daughter has a new MacBook Air 11" (2GHz i7, 256 GB SSD, 8GB DDR3 RAM).  We used Migration Assistant and an ethernet to Thunderbolt adaptor to move her system from her Late 2007 MacBook running Lion.  Microsoft Office 2008 won't load on the MacBook Air.  The recurring error message is:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/Netlib.framework/Versions/12/Netlib
      Referenced from: /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft Word.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Word
Reason: no suitable image found.  Did find:
              /Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Microsoft Word.app/Contents/MacOS/../Frameworks/Netlib.framework/Versions/12/Netlib: unknown file type, first eight bytes: 0xE6 0xF1 0xF5 0xAB 0xCA 0xC5 0xB2 0x35

I have seen several Font-related issues that can be solved by restoring the fonts using Font Book.  This looks like it is related to Netlib.
Anyone see this and know how to solve it?

I have no idea what caused MS Office to no work under ML, but using the Remote Disc function on the MacBook Air I was able to reinstall MS Office using the original install disc running in my iMac.  I wasn't able to remove the previous version before the new install as the removal tool also crashed.  The new install has replaced the old one so I only have one version on the drive now.
I'd be interested in whether there was a solution possible without reinstalling MS Office.

  • Issue with Office 2008 - won't start

I've just installed Office 2008 and done updating it to 12.1.2. I'm using a MacBook with Leopard 10.5.4 running.
But everytime I open anyone of the Office 2008 applications, the Get Started app pops up and Autoupdate follows. After Autoupdate finishes checking (no updates found), it just stays there.
The Application I selected be it Word, Exel or Powerpoint, won't open. What's wrong?

Since Office is not an Apple product, you should consider posting your question on Microsoft's own forums for their Mac products, as they would be more focused on the issue than an Apple forum that deals with installation issues of OS X:

  • Time Machine won't start after migration to new MacBook Pro.

I upgraded to a new MacBook Pro.  Both machines are running OS X 10 (10.7.5 on old, 10.8.2 on new).  I used an ethernet cable for the data migration.
I'm trying to use the Time Capsule we've been using all along for Time Machine, but Time Machine won't start because there's only 5.1GB free on the device and it wants to run a full backup. "The backup is too large for the backup disk.  The backup requires 252.33 GB but only 5.07 GB are available."
What are my options?  I'd hate to lose prior versions of all the data I've moved to the new machine, but if I have to, then I have to.  But then I'm not sure how to access the Time Capsulre base as a non-backup drive and delete what's there.
    Thanks for yor help.

Windows in VM is going to know it's on a different machine, so you'll still have to hop through Microsoft's hoops or you won't get updates.
Just an FYI: when moving a Fusion virtual machine, the first time you run the virtual machine, you are prompted if you "moved it" or "copied it".  Selecting "moved it" will retain the UUID and prevent Windows from prompting for reactivation.  (However, if it is a copy of the virtual machine and you wanted to run both copies simultaneously on the same network, you must select "copied it" otherwise the copies can't run at the same time.)
If one did select "copied it" accidentally, then just follow the reactivation prompts.  As long as you're not reactivating a lot then it usually will work the normal way over the internet.  Even if you're forced to call, just tell the support rep that you're reinstalling Windows and type in the really long code that they say.  The few times I've had to call, it was less than 15 minutes.  Again, as long as you're not reactivating a lot (so looking suspiciously like a pirate,) reactivation is a pain, but relatively quick.

  • MacBook original(2008) won't start after water damage

Hi guys, my macbook originial (2009) won't start because of I think water damage. I was on a plane and I found my backpack was wet be ause of my leaking water bottle. I immediately took out everything. My iPad,the MacBook and all the chargers and whatnot. The water touched the left side of the macbook (the USB side) including the MagSafe port. So I wiped it and left it to dry for about 36 hours. When I got to my house, I checked the iPad and it was ok and so was its charger. I tried to connect the MagSafe but it shows a dim light which means its not charging. So I decided to clean the connections and tried again but no luck.  I got once lucky by reconnecting multiple times till it started and it's fans were blowing like ****. Everything was normal then I saw the battery icon. It said batteries not available. Powered by power cord. Then I went out for a while and when I came back the macbook was switched off by my brother. So what can I do now?
Sorry but I live in Malaysia so there is no genius bar :(
    Any help will be appreciated!

  • Log Pro 9.1.8 - Won't Start after migration to iMac 27.5"

Just upgraded from late 2009 21.5" iMac to new 27.5" imac
Migrated all program data from old to new machine using TimeMachine
All seemed to have gone well until I tried to use Logic Pro (worked fine on old iMac - which was also running Yosemite)
Won't open - just keeps crashing unexpectedly
Tried reinstalling it - still the same problem
Anything obvious which I am missing ?
    Thanks
    Sean

Yes.. You used Migration to copy over Logic which is not recommended... because too many times such issues are well known and documented..
It's better to install everything from scratch.
Back up all personal data.. projects etc... manually to an external HD,...
Then reformat your Mac and reinstall OS X via the recovery system... (Start your Mac and quickly hold down CMD + R until you see the Recovery screen...)
Now install LP9, update it to 9.1.8 if you are using the DVD version.... and test using internal Audio...
    if all is well...
install any audio/midi device drivers and test again.......
if all is well, install any 3rd party plugins/libs etc......
and once more test to make sure everything is stable...
Now you can safely transfer to your new mac..  your personal data etc.. that you manually saved out earlier...
Finally, Some hardware configurations of Macs are known to have performance/stability issues when using LP9 and Yosemite.. especially those with Retina Screens.. so please be aware of this fact... if your new iMac is one of the really new Retina screen versions... Given LP9's age and the fact is has been EOL'd... its unlikely we will see any further updates beyond 9.1.8 to fix such issues... OPS X updates maybe.. which could help... but LP9 ones.. No,  I highly doubt it.
Note: I know this is a real pain to do but it is the tried, tested and proven method of making sure you limit any future issues that seem to all too often rear their ugly head after people use Migration Assistant or TM to migrate Logic over to a new Mac...

  • Fusion VM (Windows) won't start after migration to new Mac

    Friends,
I just bought a new MacBook Pro, onto which I have migrated my old Mac.  I had Windows 7 installed as a VM on the old Mac, but when I try to start it on the new machine I get no response. Fusion starts and I see the black screen with the "PLAY" icon, but clicking on it does nothing.
Is this due to a change in my system's environmental variables? I know, for instance, that the name of the partition on the new MacBook is different to the name on the old Mac.  Where/how would I correct for this on the Mac or in Fusion?
    Thank you

  • C3-01 won't start after charging

I'm so angry right now but I will try and be cool about this!
I bought C3-01 mobile phone about four months ago and it is already causing me problems.
The mobile phone simply won’t start after charging. Last time i charged it, it miraculously came to life only, and only after annoying me for about hour and a half. Now I fear it is completely dead!
Battery was not completely empty so the phone should still start even if the wall socket is broken. Which is not, wall socket works perfectly.
Nothing helps! I tried removing the battery and then restart. Removing the battery then removing the sim card, memory card and that piece of “advanced technology” simply won’t start!
I didn’t buy my new phone so that I can use my old Motorola mobile, which btw., still works after 4 years of intense usage.
I will never buy Nokia again!

    Hi,
Sorry to hear that your phone is not starting after charging.
I would suggest one more thing, which maybe helps. If you have another battery, please try.
If not,  i would recommend to visit Nokia Care Point in your area.
To find your nearest Nokia Care Point, visit http://www.nokia.com/support and select the Repair page.

  • Mac Mini won't start after installing OS X 10.6.3

My Mac Mini won't start after installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3. When I turn it on, the Apple logo appears and the initialization line starts to fill, but it suddenly stops. It does that again and stops at the same point, but this time it shuts down. What should I do?

If you are coming from 10.5.8, hopefully you backed up your important data first. Your mini will need at minimum, 1 GB of RAM to install Snow Leopard and at least 5 GB of storage remaining on your boot drive.
I treat 10.6.3 as a fresh, full install over a 10.5.8 system. That means I choose Disk Utility from the Installer's menu and repartition the boot drive as a single partition, Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) format, and use the GUID partition scheme from the options button. At this point, while still in Disk Utility, I would verify the drive under First Aid.
Then I turn the installer loose, and reboot into a working 10.6.3 system, ready for the software updates that take the machine to 10.6.8.
So, following the above guidelines, reinstall 10.6.3.
