Office 2010 not working well with iCloud

I am using Office 2010 Home & Business on a Windows 8.1 64 bit computer, and my calendar, tasks and contact list sync with iCloud.
I am noticing lately (since installing Windows 8, perhaps), that when entering an appointment (in Calendar), it takes several seconds to "register" whereas before it was immediate.
I also find that when I switch from Calendar to Mail or Mail to Calendar (or Tasks), it also takes several seconds.
Is there a fix for this?

It can be resulted from the permission for Office related files and folders.
Create a new standard user account to check.
Login with your admin account.
Check permission for folders related to your Office program(Right click>Properties>Security>Set full permission to all user account)
Login with new user account and try to run Office program.

If you mean Open Office is not always able to correctly open documents received from clients created with MS Office, then the only real solution is to purchase Office 2011 for Mac. As good as some of the free alternatives are, they can't duplicate every feature of MS Office.

New FocusTraversalPolicy Mechanism Does Not Work Well With OO Designs

I would like to complain about the new focus traversal mechanism not working well with object-oriented GUI designs.
Specifically, we have many reusable panel classes that can be swapped in and out of reusable dialog classes. On some of these panels, the default focus traversal is not what is desirable, perhaps because one component on the right side of the window is just slightly higher than a component on the left side, maybe due to the component on the right having a label on top, and so the default focus goes to the component on the right instead of the left. So we have a need to be able to explicitly define the order of components in some panels.
If I try to define a focus traversal policy in the panel's constructor, a NullPointerException is thrown because the panel's focus cycle root is null (the panel has not been added to any dialog or frame yet).
If I try to associate a focus traversal policy at the dialog level, it would have to explicitly reference its child panels' inner components, which would break the encapsulation of the panels. It would also make it hard to have generic dialog classes into which various reusable panel objects can be swapped.
Someone suggested making each panel a focus cycle root. This makes it hard to "break out" of one panel to move on to the next panel in the dialog. Special keys would have to be assigned to try to cycle out, and these keys would have to be different than the normal traversal keys, making them inconsistent and nonintuitive to the user. Also, the focus policy would have to know if the dialog had more than one panel, what order the panels were in to know whether to cycle to the next panel or not, etc. This is a mess.
Does anyone have any idea how to get around these problems? I have tried using a global focus policy with a global hash map of prev/next component key-value pairs, but we are still running into trouble with some deeply nested tabbed dialogs. It's just not possible to always have the focus cycle root in existence at the point where you want to explicitly define traversal between two components, or when you are trying to establish the default component for a panel in a tabbed pane.
Has anyone else run into similar issues?

I agree completely. One of the popular consultants on this forum stated that the new focus mechanism was more versatile and only a little more complex. I would say it's more than a little complex given the trouble average programmers are having understanding how it works...at least at first...and after understanding it realizing that they are going to have type their fingers off to update their code. Oh, and the dread of maintaining this awful mess.
I'm currently having the same problem as you Robbie. Some of my reusable panels need special tab ordering...that's not usually a problem, in most programming environments, till now. Now I have to go around the world and back just to get my stupid cursor to be in the right place when I hit the tab key??!!! and special key mappings just to get out of a focus cycle...lame.
And how is an IDE graphical designer going to work with this? It's not, that's how...ok maybe if some kind person or company creates a custom focus traversal policy editor of some kind, I don't know.
Good grief Sun! We need something to help us meet our deadlines, not solutions that force us to spend 80% of our time customizing every stinking bit of UI functionality we need!!!
JTables are even worse. I've mastered most of the garbage that is JTable after many months of pain and I don't know how I'm going to help my peers understand them in any short amount of time. Most of them were Oracle Forms programmers, not that that is any great solution either. But they will likely have problems.
In conclusion, I wish I had chosen another UI technology for our new product client, and may yet.

How do I know if this update is appropriate for Windows Vista? I have done updates before, only to discover that they did not work well with Vista.

I keep getting a message that I need to update to firefox version 7. I can't find any information to help me know if this version is compatible with Vista. I did an "automatic" update in the past, and needed to uninstall it because it did not work well with Vista. firefox is not giving me any info regarding this - it just says install it.

Audition CS5.5 is not working well with Microsoft Mouse "smooth scrolling" feature

Hi,
I'm testing with the Audition CS5.5 and found that the mouse scrolling (I use it mainly for zoom, zooming in and out to see the waveform) is just not working well and sluggish, and finally I figured out it somewhat related to the "smooth scrolling" of Microsoft Mouse. Anyone with the same problem? In fact the scrolling is working very well for Audition 3.0.1, I don't know why it fail for CS5.5.

The trial version is the same as the full version except
for the 30 day limitation.
I think on windows xp you need sp3 for cs5 to work as expected.

I have always (maybe stupid!) updated my iOS version when itunes has proposed it, thinking my old iPhone 3 should work better. It is now clear for me that it is not the case!
Can I go back to an earlier version so I can use the phone as it was meant to work?
Have read something about if you have not save the "protocol" from an earlier version it is impossible!
The question is also justified for all my other iPhones and Pad in my family, should I stop updates iOS versions on them as oblivious thy are becoming useless with the time, or?

I'm surprised to hear that your 3gs is working well!
My main reason to continue with my 3 gs (I have a iphone 5 also) is to use the GPS function in it. but from the moment I upgrade it to iOS 6.0.1 the GPS is not working well. I can not say if it is becase it is too slove or something is not supporting it. It does not matter if I use it in combination with Google Maps our my TomTom app.
It is loosing the GPS all the time.
The second problem is also that the 3gs is not working anymore in the TomTom car mounth holder.
TomTom are making them so they are only working for iphone 3 (so my other 2 iphone 4 have never worked in it, but it is in that way).
I do not know if it is the TomTom software which is not supported by iOS6 or what...
As I can only use the holder for my 3gs it is awast if the mobil is not working...

If you are referring to online gaming, then PS3 like all non-apple devices uses upnp to open ports.
Apple uses NAT-PMP to open ports.. East and West.. never the twain shall meet.
If it is internal wireless issues.. that is different.. airport should be just like any other wireless router.

I have some problem with my Bridge. When i browse preset from my After Effect in Bridge, it won't preview all of the After Effect preset(*.ffx), but my Bridge works well with photoshop files, it will preview all the photo files inculding .PSD. Does anyone knows what's the problem? Anyone knows how to fix it? I need help to fix this problem to get my work in AfterEffect, it is very hard to get things work it won't preview the preset. Thanks.

Pivot created in office 2010, Not working in office XP.

I have a issue, created a excel file in office version 2010 with pivot, but when i am trying to open it in office xp, File is opening but pivots are not working.I have also set it on compatible mode.
Please suggest if anyone have idea.

There might be no way to solve the pivots compatiblity issue in old Office version. We highly recommand upgrade Office XP to Office 2007 or higher version to avoid this kind of issue.

Itunes doesn't work well with icloud - will Match make it perfect?

I was quite excited by the security and convenience possibilities of icloud and music. I am very disappointed that I have to buy a yearly subscription service to get if to work properly.
I am about to go through the six steps to get match for itunes working. And *that* requires a computer that I don't have.
Background: When I heard about icloud I thought 'What a great concept! I can backup everything - I lose my phone, my music - no problem.'
Not quite. Aside from other problems with icloud (another post coming) itunes is NOT integrated with icloud. NEW USERS BE WARNED. Weird thing is that icloud works for everything else, even my 1800 videos and photographs.
I did a restore from icloud and about 30% of my songs did not show up, 25% of my playlists were greyed out (empty) and 15% had disappeared. Songs showed up in some lists (purchased) but not others (albums?) What the heck? I observed that going to my account at itunes store showed everything and there was a cloud symbol with a downwards arrow, i.e. download. I have slow wifi at home and no data service on my phone so this was a headache downloading all my songs one by one and reorganizing/creating playlists manually. Imagine if I had 50000 songs! This hassle was even though *all* songs were purchased from itunes. Nit a single ripped CD or torrented song.
Based on multiple previous disappointments and different stories depending on who I talk to at Apple I am skeptical of whether Itunes Match will truly make my iphone5 musical experience seamless and problem-free. I have 5000 songs from various sources (mostly ripped CDs from public libraries but also some internet sources) on a hard drive overseas and the concept of replacing them with superior bit rates and album art is appealing. But I am cautious. His do I know Apple doesn't change the rules 5 years from now - technically or legally? And if I miss a yearly payment will my songs self-destruct?

iCloud is not iTunes Match. The two services are seperate and distinct and one service does not require the other. iTunes Match does not use iCloud storage, nor is it a backup service.
iTunes Match only scans, matches and uploads tracks in an iTunes library. It does not not do this on an iOS device. You cannot even purchase iTunes Match except through iTunes on a computer.

Export in Query ready mode - Office 2010 not working

Hello everyone,
I am facing the following problem with Hyperion Financial Reporting:
When I display a Financial Reporting report in Workspace and click on "Export in query ready mode", a new Excel session is launched with an empty sheet and nothing else happens. Eventually Internet explorer displays a message "The application hasn't started yet. Do you want to wait?" This cycle repeats forever unless I close the small IE window that popped up.
We are using Windows 7 and Office 2010. The Smart View version is 11.1.1.3.500 (Build 008) and Workspace is version 11.1.1.3.0.956.
Would be very grateful if anyone can help me solve this issue as this function is very useful.

There is some development with this problem, but unfortunately another one arose.
To solve the issue I had to disable the option "Protected mode" for the Internet Zone of Internet Explorer. Although the App server is on the local intranet, to launch Excel the web page uses the protocol oraclesv:// which appears to IE as "Internet" address.
When I disabled protected mode, some of the reports started to open normally in query ready mode. Unfortunately for some other reports Excel crashes. I.e. I open the report in workspace and click "Export in Query ready mode". I see Excel open up and the cells are filled in with members, etc. but at some point Excel just crashes and restarts. This can be destructive if I am currently working in some file.
And now the interesting part: I tried to find the reason why some of the reports are ok and some crash excel. It turned out that this depends on the amount of data in the report. For smaller reports (i.e. less than 50 rows) there is no problem, but for larger reports -> excel crashes.
I hope this explanation is helpful for someone else, as it took me quite a while to find the problem.

My emails have been working well on my IMac 10.7.5 and icloud. Then for some reason, I cannot send emails! I can still recieve but I cannot send. When it comes up with that error message I try all the other servers it suggests but none of them work. Can anyone help please?

the it lists 3 servers:

the top one of these is highlighted with the options: Try Later or Try with selected server
I have tried all 3 servers and nothing works, I've tried turning the mac off and on and restarting but nothing seems to work. It's wierd because I'm gettng emails ok?!?

DNG 5.4 does not work well with Olympus E-620

I just installed the DNG converter 5.4 to use with the RAW ORF files from my new Olympus E-620. The converted images are not the same as the jpg images or the RAW images as converted by the Olympus Master software. They are duller in the highlights and darker in the shadows. The difference is NOT small and is readily noticeable in the image and when comparing the histogram. It looks like part of the problem may be that the Olympus automatic gradation may not be interpreted properly, but the difference is even more than just this. I can turn this on and off in the Olympus Master and the difference is similar but a greater difference than just this alone. Further, the Olympus Master software cannot open the DNG files.
I would also like to rgister my high dissatisfaction with the short life of the Adobe software due to the new RAW converters not working with older Photoshop or Lightroom software versions. I am using Lightroom 1.2 and PS CS3, and I do not want to spen the considerable cost of upgrade only to be able to convert my RAW files. Also, I do not like to have to convert my RAW files to DNG first, because I loose some of the editing options that I can only do in the Olympus software, and it creates another step in my workflow.

Well, doh...since Camera Raw is using it's own processing parameters and algorithms, the odds of ACR "matching" the camera makers software is not real high. At some point when ACR 5.4 is finally released Adobe may have some additional DNG Profiles for the camera that may make color a closer match but the tone curve will prolly always needs tweaks. It would behoove you to either create presets that you can apply in Bridge or alter your ACR "Defaults".

It's been Adobe's policy to only support currently shipping products. As such, customers who upgraded to Ps CS4 can expect about 18 months of free support and Camera Raw updates. Fact is that while you WERE a current customer when you bought CS3 and you got 6 free ACR updates (ACR 4.6 was the last version for CS3), you are no longer a current customer.
You may not like the DNG Converter step, but that's what you have if you wish to use your new camera with your old software...your other alternative is, of course to simply use the software that came with your camera.

Wifi not working well with cover on

My Mac Mini is loosing tons of packets via wifi to my Airport Extreme. I test with a ping to 10.0.1.1 and my mac mini is on 10.01.55. If I remove the cover it works very well, packet loss is zero. If I install the cover (enclosure, whatever!), problem starts up again. If I put my hand over where the wifi antenna is, touching the side of the mini, the connection returns to normal.
I thought it was the network card so I got a brand new one, installed it and got the same packet loss. I have re-checked the connection to the board and the connector is well seated, nothing loose so it isn't that. It is also not a loose wire.
Anyone with same problem and a fix?

First try to change the wireless channel.
If does not help do a reset of your apple Extreme / express, and do the setup again.
