Office 2010 update error Code 80070663 on Window 8.1: Roiscan VB Script states an error on 1a1f08c.msp

Hi, trying to get 7 updates onto MS Office 2010, getting a repeated 80070663 error. Running Win 8.1. Executed Robust Inventory Scan and got the following:
Review Items
============
Error:                       OpenDatabase failed to open .msp file C:\WINDOWS\Installer\1a1f08c.msp
Any idea what next move should be? Tried for a reinstall, but but downloader runs for a while then says an error has been found and it shuts down...

Jake, did you ever find a solution to your problem? I'm afraid I can't help if you didn't, but I'm experiencing the same problem.
I also run Vista and had no problems until recently when I had an installation failure on 12th April 2014 for the same two updates:
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB959209) x86 - (Installation status: Failed. Error details: Code 80070663)
Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) - (Installation status: Failed. Error details: Code 64C)
I don't know whether it's these updates that caused the problem or an earlier update that has stopped these updates been installed.  The PC is generally working but Word & Excel don't load any more. I get a 'Preparing to install' popup follwed by
the message: 'This update package could not be opened. Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package.'
If you did find a solution or any one else knows of one then I'd be very grateful.

  • Windows Update Error Code 80070663 and 64C

I am running x64 Vista on an HP Pavillion dv9000 laptop.
I was cleaning up my desktop when I saw a Word doc I didn't recognize.  I tried to open it and got a Windows Installer window saying "Preparing to Install".  I have an activated, legal version of Microsoft Office 2007.  This is the first time
I've seen that window pop up.  I let it try to install whatever it's trying to install and it comes up with an error: "This update package could not be opened.  Verify that the update package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application
vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer update package."  I am the administrator on this computer.  I have full access to all files.
This prompts me to start Windows Update to see if that will fix it.  That's where the error codes come in.  The windows updates: "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update (KB959209) x64" and "Security Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Service
Pack 1 Redistributable Package (KB2538243) yielded the error codes 80070663 and 64C.
I noticed when I press Start, the power button occasionally says "Installs Updates then Shuts Down".  I didn't click it because I had work open I needed to work on later.  Then when I left the computer and came back, the power button didn't have
the shield on it that said "Installs Updates then Shuts Down".  I shut down my computer anyway and it didn't install any updates, and this is where I'm at.  I've retried installing the updates via Windows Update and it still shows the original error
    codes.
I've researched this error and came across Microsoft Fix It, downloaded as: "MicrosoftFixit.wu.LB.137269729445221149.2.1".  I've run it and it did not solve the problem.
    Please help,
    Jake

  • Error code 80070002 on windows 8.1 updates

When i try to update windows it keeps failing.
I have looked in to this and found its HP NULL PRINT thats the problem.
    Error code 80070002
How can i resolve this ??

    Hi @stuart40,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are getting the error code 80070002 on windows 8.1 updates, with your HP Photosmart 5520 printer. I am sorry to hear this but happy to help!
Just to confirm, are you trying to update the printer software, or the Windows Operating System in general?
Is your computer an HP computer?
In the meantime, here is a post, I had found regarding this issue, Windows 8.1 Update Error Code: 0x8007002. Which I am assuming is an Operating System issue, not a printer issue.
If it is the Windows updates you are trying to resolve, and the post does not help, please contact Microsoft Support.
Thank you for posting, and happy new year!

  • Unexpected restarts when deploying Windows 7 and Office 2010 updates

    Hi
I am deploying Windows 7 and Office 2010 updates via SCCM 2012 sp1 and have a couple of questions
    Question 1)
The updates are made available to clients at 9am on a Tuesday morning.  The users get notification that updates are available to install.  If the user doesn't install the updates, the client will wait 24hrs and then install the updates automatically.
We have set the restart behaviour to 24hrs, so again, the user will get a pop up saying that their machine will restart in 24hours.  In my testing I have seen no more pop ups appear until 15 minutes before a restart is due and then a window appears
with a count down of 15 minutes but I think this might be standard behaviour.  I am not sure why there are options in the client settings to remind users frequently about the impending installation of update but not of impending restarts.  The
reason we delay the restart by 24hrs is to give the users the chance to restart their machines over night.  Is there a way of providing more notifications of computer restarts ?  The User Experience in the deployment of the updates is set to
Display in software center and show all notifications.  We have Group Policy set to Not Configured for Windows Updates apart from the user policy
Remove Access To All Windows Update Features which is set to 0 - Do not show any notifications.
    Question 2)
Another issue we have is that we have client machines restarting without any warning at all.  I have tested setting the user experience to suppress restarts but have the issue regardless.  It appears that this happens if the client
is off when the deployment schedule reaches its deadline and the restart time is missed.  I had one user who did restart her machine because she was prompted to restart.  When the machine came back up it looked like it installed another update and
then just resarted without any warning.  This hasn't happened often but a one user was on a Lync call when the restart occured and she was not happy.
Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Daniel
I have done an RSOP on a VM I am testing and only have the user policy :
Remove Access To All Windows Update Features which is set to
0 - Do not show any notifications.
    And the machine policy :
Specify intranet Microsoft update service location which is set to
Enabled The GPO Name is Local Group Policy
    The policies look OK.
As a test I have deployed some updates and set the user experience to
Display all notifications and set the Suppress restarts
for both Servers and Workstations.  When I deploy the updates, I get notifications that the updates are installing (when the deadline is met) and then I get a prompt telling me that a restart is required.  I also get a windo letting me restart now
or I can ask to be reminded in x number of hours.  This seems like expected behaviour.  It does not force a restart.  However if I leave the VM on over night I come in the following day and can see it has restarted.  looking at the WindowsUpdate.log I
can see that at 3:15am the line AUInvoking reboot system.  It looks like Windows Updates and not SCCM is forcing the restart.
    Thanks

  • MS Office 2010 Updates failing to install

    Hi,
We have 9 MS Office 2010 updates released in April 14th 2015, that are failing to install on a Windows 7 machine. WindowsUpdate.log file shows and error message as "Windows failed to install the following update with error 0x80070656" , for all
    the 9 updates.
Tried to restart the system and install updates again, which failed.
Please suggest how to proceed on this.
    Regards, Lorin Davis

in addition to/instead of restarting the client, try this on the client:
    1. stop the windows update and background intelligent transfer services
    2. delete everything in c:\windows\softwaredistribution
    3. start the windows update and background intelligent transfer services
    4. go back into windows updates in the control panel and check for updates again. or  run "wuauclt /detectnow" from a command prompt.

  • Office 2010 Activation in new install of Windows 8.1

I purchased Office 2010 Professional Plus (single user license) several years ago.  Installed it on my HP Pavilion dv7 running windows 7.  Validated the license and install through Microsoft with no issues I had a genuine install and good license.
Updated to Windows 8 for the low introductory price.  No issues with Office 2010 at all.  Ran the Windows 8.1 pre-release.  Tried to update to Windows 8.1 and it would not update. So, i did a full clean re-install that deleted everything
from my hard drive and Windows 8.1 installed (great update and I love 8.1).  Re-installed Office 2010 Pro and when I try to activate it I get the "This product cannot be activated because the product key is not valid. Even tried over the phone.
    Help.
    Thanks
    Paul

    Hi Paul
Normally if you did not make significant changes to your hardware, you were able to reinstall your Office suites in your Computer with no issue.
Cause you get the invalid product keu errors, refer to the article below on troubleshooting invalid product key errors in Microsoft Office:

We can also Contact Microsoft Customer Service, and they will help you to activate your Office programs.

    Hi,
According to your description about unable to get Office 2010 update, you can check this setting and try again.
Go to Control Panel > Windows Update > Change Settings, tick the option of “Give me update for other Microsoft when I update Windows”.

  • A fatal error when attempting to access the SSL server credential private key. Error code 0x8009030d. Windows 8.1.

    Hi,
We develop a server-side application which receives incoming https connections using self-signed certificate. It was all ok while we were using Windows 7 or Windows 2008 as OS, but when our clients started installing Windows 8 as server OS they encountered
big problem: application got unavailable in few hours after start.
In event logs we have following:
A fatal error occurred when attempting to access the SSL server credential private key. The error code returned from the cryptographic module is 0x8009030d. The internal error state is 10001.
After restart, application recreates certificate and all works normal few hours till next fatal error.
    This
article did not help us. And I repeat that this error appears only on Windows 8 (we tested on Windows 8.1). Windows 2012 Server we did not test yet.
How we can solve this problem?
    Best regards.

    Hi,
Since this article released in 2008,I suspect the code mentioned in this article doesn't  supprot Windows 8.
And since the certificate was written by C#,I suggest you submit a new case on MSDN Forum as they will be more professional on your issue:

  • Error code: 0xc0000001 file: \windows\system32\winload.efi missing or contains errors

I have a new 2 month old(Aug 2014) hp eliteone 800 all in one computer running win 8.1 64bit. i have two  1 tb hard drives raid configuration. left computer on for an afternoon and when I came back it was off mysteriously. tried to turn on and it
attempted to repair and was never able to repair. hp sent a new windows 8 software to install, they said os was corrupt. installed three times now i get error code: 0xc0000001 file: \windows\system32\winload.efi  missing or contains errors. hp said installation
disc probably corrupt and sent me another. installed twice with same result, error code: 0xc0000001 file: \windows\system32\winload.efi  missing or contains errors. This began after the computer was just one month old and after i had placed 300-400
gb of my personal data from other computers on it. I need all of these files so can't just recover/delete all of the files on the computer, although i have read that that may be my only solution? If i do recover will the files still be on the second hard drive??
can you help with this problem?? thanks.

    Hi Richard,
Did you try to repair or reinstall the system when you insert the new media?
Have you tried to carry out a system recovery, which will restore your system back to factory defaults and how was the result?
In addition, I suggest you use the new installation media to do a clean install(full format the old system).

In administering this policy I am a little confused.
We have a policy that distributes proxy settings in the internet explorer maintenance settings section - however when opening this policy up in GPO editor the internet explorer maintenance section is not present.
I plan to apply the settings via User/preferences/control panel settings/ internet settings (or registry settings from article) however I am unable to edit the settings for internet explorer maintenance and these will persist. Ideas????

I know, it sounds stupid now but you can also visit some Microsoft forum and check for solution.
In my opinion Toshiba has nothing to do with this.
By the way: you should disable automatic update. Before you start update check the list of all stuff offered by Microsoft. Do not update some driver.
