Office 2013 deployment tool Invalid product ID error

Hi,
Im in the process of virtualizing apps like Office 2013 with App-V.
Downloading the binaries with the Office Deployment tool and converting to app-v package is very easy, I've followed this kb
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2915745
But now I want to sequence add-ins for Office 2013. So I need a local install of Office 2013 click to run.
Im trying to use the command line option setup.exe /configure <path to config.xml> but everytime I try this I receive this error:
Invalid product ProPlusVolume specified. Error configuring products
I have tried several different ProductID's like ProPlusVolume and StandardVolume. None of the volume ID's seem to work. When I changed the ID to ProPlusRetail, the setup worked flawless. But I need to install the Volume version for my RDS server...
I have found other people in the comment section in this blog: http://blogs.technet.com/b/office_resource_kit/archive/2013/12/03/3615124.aspx
(read the comments in the bottom section) But no solution..?

It's my understanding that you don't use the "/configure" parameter when using the "Volume" options.
Jeremy refers to this in the comments/responses.
In the main blog article, he refers to "You can now use the Deployment Configuration file to configure...."
This does not mean that you should use the "/configure" parameter - that is only used for C2R.

• After Effects download - Invalid Product Context error

Trying to download After Effects from :
http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=after_effects
getting error "Invalid Product Context" "Error communicating with adobe.com (error 107)....."
Tried from multiple computers with different browsers.. cannot get it to download!

Jeff! Are you not listening? THERE IS NO OPTION TO CHOOSE THE FOLDER TO DOWNLOAD TO, It fails before it gets this far. I've tried this with Chrome and Firefox, and I get the same result. And as I say, it seems odd to me that Dreamweaver, Illustrator and Photoshop CS6 would would all download smoothly, and without problem, if there were a browser issue causing the problem with After Effects. I will also say again that I was having this same exact problem trying to download AE CS5.5 just prior to the update. I'm presuming that After Effects trial is coming off of a different server? Has anyone checked that machine to make sure it's working, connected, etc.? The message I'm receiving sounds to me like ADA goes to DREAMWEAVER.ADOBE.COM and connects and downloads no problem, it goes to ILLUSTRATOR.ADOBE.COM and connects and downloads no problem, it tries to go to AFTEREFFECTS.ADOBE.COM and can't make a connection. Perhaps Adobe needs to check their hardware?

• Error installing Office 2013 on Server 2012 R2 RDS - Error 25004: the product key you entered cannot be used on this machine

Hi there,
I really hope someone can help me as I am tearing my hair out trying to get this resolved!
I am working on a Server 2012 R2 server with RDS running. Before it was turned into a RDS server it had a copy of Office 2010 running as a trial to see would it work for the accounting package that is running for users via Remote Desktop. Trial worked ok
so it was converted into a RDS server. Now, as its a RDS it needs to run Office under a volume licence, which I have. However when trying to install I get the message: "Error 25004: the product key you entered cannot be used on this machine. this is most
likely due to previous Office 2013 trials being installed on the system."
In summary I have tried everything I can think of and find to remove all traces of the old Office from the machine but still this message persists. I have run the Fix It For Me uninstall from MS and it cannot find any Office installed. i have manually searched
through all of the Windows directories including Program Files and AppData and removed all traces of Office from there, I have searched the registry and removed all I can find from there.
Where or what file does the installer look at to see that a previous version was installed?
I cannot scrub this machine which I would have done long ago because there is another SQL Server based application running on it.
Really really appreciate anyone that can help me on this,
Thanks

Hi,
I have definitely heard your frustration, and I’ll try my best to help you.
Since Office 2010 installed on it before, you need to remove Office 2010 completely.

• Office 2013, click icon nothing happens, no errors, no eventlog, MANY clients with this issue

We're an IT solutions provider for companies of all sizes as well, as residential users, and we've been plagued by a new Microsoft-caused issue that's seriously affecting our client's perception of us since it seems like 'you didn't fix it the first
time' or 'you sold us the computer', so it's our responsibility to fix for free.
We've experienced this with 17 people so far, ranging from residential clients with systems that have come from big box stores and from systems we've sold with Microsoft Office 2013 and basically the entire suite stops working.
If you click an icon, you may see an hour glass for a few seconds and nothing happens (but usually nothing happens at all, as though you didn't click it).
Diagnostic steps:
No errors in eventlog, neither under system or application.
No third party add-ins, sometimes it's a stock install on a new / fresh system.
Starting Microsoft Office applications in safe mode, like winword /safe, has no effect.
A quick repair or an online repair will not resolve the issue, it will say it's done but issue still exists.
Microsoft Office 2013 cannot be uninstalled, we always receive the same error code: 0-4
Some systems do not have third party antivirus, some are simply using Microsoft Security Essentials.
This affects all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook.
Makes no difference if you use another user account or run-as admin.
All Microsoft Office 2013 updates have been installed.
The installation source is undetermined but recent issues stemmed from a physical media (.ISO) install from Microsoft's latest source.
You cannot start the software by clicking on documents created with Office applications.
The only way to remove Microsoft Office 2013 is with the removal tool "O15CTRRemove.diagcab".
The problem returns after a random period of days and no client can relay the actual cause of the issue, it seems random in nature. After the issue is experienced, we go through the same steps including the necessity to utilize the removal tool.
This seems to be a new issue that's come out of the blue within the past few weeks, at least on our end. When 17 random people call out of the blue with the same problem, it suggests it's Windows Update related.
I'm really hoping someone has some insight into this Microsoft glitch and knows of a secret hotfix or special trick to prevent it. I attempted to call Microsoft and it would be more enjoyable to punch a concrete wall since you're dealing with useless people
in a foreign country who can't really comprehend the seriousness or technicality of the issue, and don't really care, and aren't skilled enough to provide
insight.
Does anyone know about this problem?

Thank you for the reply.
I understand the flash you are receiving while launching Excel or Word is very fast. However just wanted to check if it is possible to get a screenshot of it.
Also, are you able to work fine on Excel or Word even after receiving the flash.
It seems the Office installation might have not been done properly.
There is a possibility, everytime you Uninstall any application, there are still some patches left behind which could cause an issue while Installing the same application again or even after Installation is successful, it sometimes gives
issue while launching the application.
If you want to give a try, you may try to Uninstall the product using Offscrub by clicking on the below link & then can have a fresh installation again.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501
Please let me know the status update once done
Abhijeet, the box flash happens too fast for me to capture a screenshot of it but I believe it's similar to the smaller box activation process (enter your email).
Word and Excel work fine whenever this is observed.
I'm skeptical that this is a "not done properly" kind of scenario, especially when it applies to so many people and many have brand new computers. How can you take a Microsoft Office disc and install it improperly on a new PC? Or how can a person
go through Microsoft's https://officesetup.getmicrosoftkey.com/ setup, use the software for months and suddenly it stops working? If this is a 'not done properly' scenario, then this is a failing of Microsoft's
installation source. I can't reiterate this enough, the software works fine for people since installation date and then randomly stops working at a much later date (but many of them failed last month and this is a newer issue).
I'm starting to get frustrated again as I'd already stated we've used your linked removal tool in my first post and the problem has returned for another user by which I'd used it and reinstalled the product. The client who's PC we have now, one we'd sold
them, needs to be returned to them and while Microsoft Office is currently working, I was told that if this happens again, they're "going to throw the f#(*@ computer in the river". No joke.
If we're at the point where we've moved past evaluating logs, registry keys, or file versions or anything along the lines of a developer determining how this Microsoft bug occurs, then I'll return the system back to the client and hope for the best.
Three strikes and I'm out with this one but perhaps the delayed startup is the final solution... I just wish I knew for sure as we've had a bad year taking a beating for Microsoft's products and their support is the worst in the industry.
It's further frustrating that since I'd touched base with Microsoft via phone calls, the only person who's been able to provide any insight into the issue is me.

• Office 2013 with Service Pack 1 installation error about "search path"

I have an automated installation technique that has worked fine with Office 2010 Pro Plus (32-bit), incorporating the latest Service Pack into the network administrative installation point (under \updates), adding 10 foreign languages to the network administrative
installation point, creating a custom .msp with the OCT (that goes into \updates too), editing the config.xml files, and then running setup.exe from that network administrative installation point. This works on 32-bit Windows XP clients and on 32- and 64-bit
Windows 7 clients.
For Office 2013 Pro Plus, I have built the network administrative installation point exactly the same way (original DVD files + languages + SP1 updates + config.xml updates), but the installation is failing with every type of client, all with
the same error message. The network administrative installation point is readable by the normal installing account, but I even get the same error when I login as me and initiate setup.exe manually, and I have all rights to this point.
Here's the critical point from a log file:
2014/03/11 11:53:49:691::[2372] DistributionPoint parsed. The distribution point is now set to: \\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2013

I cannot find any references to this exact error anywhere on the Internet. Can anyone tell me what this means, and how I fix it?

As automated, the utility that runs setup.exe maps a drive letter to
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt using a kboxmap AD account, which has read access to the whole \KBOXalt tree. I used that same kboxmap AD account manually to simulate what the utility does, and hit the same problem. But here's what's
odd: right next to that
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2013 directory is an
\\archive.ads.college.edu\archive\KBOXalt\Office2010 directory, both created the same way, and the Office 2010 installation has always worked perfectly using the kboxmap AD account. I don't understand why Office 2013 is only working for an account with
read/write access, where Office 2010 worked fine for an account with only read access. Especially when the Office 2013 resource kit documentation clearly states that the account running the installation should only have read access, nothing more. (All this
KBOX stuff comes from the fact that our deployment environment is a Dell KACE KBOX 1000. However, that plays no part in the problem: ignoring the KBOX 1000, I can manually recreate the problem every time.)

• Office 2013 deployment customisation

Hello,
just added O2013 to applications. Used OCT, placed msp to Updates. Run litetouch from test VM.
Installation run silently. 100% success.
Here are the points that I would like to adjust:
1. When first started Word. I got the Windows with update chooses.
The truth that I don't deploy Office updates by WSUS. But probably will do.
After OS deployment WSUS update is enabled. So no problems with OS.
Let's assume that my WSUS will deploy Office 2013 updates. So I can probably enable post Application updates.
Currently I do post OS updates.
Is there a step in OCP to skip the Updates screen on first Office start?
Can activation window be suppressed if product key is inserted in OCT? Kind of automatic activation try?
This is not difficult one click but would like to leave Office without any "welcome" screens.
Please specify the step in OCT where I can to customize that.
Also my Office 2013 contains SP1. So probably I can keep Office 2013 patches on WSUS starting January 2014 since SP1 dated
Feb 2014. Is it right assumption?
Thanks.
"When you hit a wrong note it's the next note that makes it good or bad". Miles Davis

Please follow the instructions here. Open OCT. Navigate to Features-Modify User Settings.
Select Microsoft Office 2013-->Privacy--> Trust Center
Disable Opt-in Wizard on first run-> Set to ENABLED
Enable Customer Experience Improvement Program--> set to DISABLED
Automatically receive small updates to improve reliability--> DISABLED
Then under Microsoft Office 2013--> Miscellaneous
Suppress recommended settings dialog--> set to ENABLED
Activation depends on if your using KMS or MAK keys. What are you using so I can assist you further...

• Office 2013 deployment

I'm in the process of building a package to deploy office 2013. Everything works as it should except uninstalling office 2010. OCT only does a partial uninstall of office 2010 but leaves evidence in Programs and features as well as the folder in Start
up. Does anyone have a solution for this?

Configure an application for Office 2010, configure Office 2013 to supersede 2010 and deploy, simple as that. What you need is uninstall command for 2010, install command for 2013 and detection method for both. There's no need for task sequence to accomplish
what you want, the trickiest part is probably getting the right detection method, you can use the product code of Office MSI package. For install/uninstall commands, follow the official documentation or try Google. Use script installation method and use the
setup.exe with .xml created with OCT.

• Is ms office 2013 supported for report generation? Error 41106

Hi
I have a copy of LV full development suite with the Excel and Word report generation toolkit added.
I have recently changed to using Office 365 that includes offline versions of Excel and Word from Office '13.

I have reinstalled the toolkit - no effect.
I sort of assume therefore that office 2013 is not supported?
Any hints, tips, patches or workarounds please.

I've seen some issues when I upgraded to Office 2010. Note that it is possible that the route cause of your problem is totally different but in my case there was some ActiveX properties or Methods call that have been changed. I solved this issue by navigating to the property/method that caused the error, clicked on it and reselected the same property/method. You could probably find some older post that discuss that. Hope this help.

• Office 2013 (Mainly Outlook) Ribbon Menu Display Error

So i have created a MDT System Image for deploying Windows across our Business we are currently using Windows 8.1 32/64Bit Office 2013 SP1 now i have recently updated the image simply to install the latest load of Windows Updates so we are not installing
a load of updates when imaging a machine. a lot of our users are reporting issues in Office mainly Outlook but Word has the issue also, the Ribbon bar has Pixelated Display issues and one would have to close he application and re-open to resolve.
Now i have uploaded two screenshots to my box account and shared the images below as you can see from the screenshots it looks to be a display issue but it is only the Office Applications that fall victim, once you change to something else it dissapears
but this is happening a few times a day now. i have blanked out with black boxes the secure information from our relevant party's they are separate to the issue.
https://app.box.com/s/fd1e8vw5gr7hbtxo42pb
https://app.box.com/s/cyfsuad7uuml5uaq75az

Hi,
I would suggest you start Outlook in Safe Mode to determine if it's 3rd-party add-ins related:
Press Win + R, type "outlook.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If there is no such problem in safe mode, disable suspicious add-ins to verify which add-ins caused this problem.
Since you have mentioned that you also meet this problem in Word, I doubt if it's related to a setting in Office:
In any Office application, such as Outlook, go to File -> Options -> Advanced -> Display -> Find "Disable hardware graphics acceleration", have you checked this box? If no, check it and click "OK" to save the setting.
This option is added since Office 2013, and it's global, once it's set in an Office application, it applies to others as well.
More information about hardware acceleration can be found in this article below:
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/cc26ac52-5c94-468e-ac34-35c9dcc5b422/hardware-graphics-acceleration?forum=outlook
We can also consider this:
On the Desktop, right click on This PC(or Computer) icon, select
Properties, then Advanced system settings on the left side, under
Advanced tab, click on the Settings button for
Performance.
Now we see this:
Uncheck the box for Animate controls and elements inside windows, click
OK button.
I hope the information can be helpful.

Can you navigate to your %temp% folder and filter by date to see the log of the Build tool?
I want to know which assemblies failed to be verified.
By the way, since MSBuild is embed in Visual Studio why you want to install this again? Do you have any error about this Build Tool when you install Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate?
“Signature or catalog could not be verified” is always related to corrupt source

• Office 2013 Deployment in a Multisite Environment

We want to upgrade our 200+ clients to Office 2013 but I have encountered 2 major issues.
The first is that we have multiple sites with slow network links (less than 512k) so I need to be able to install and update from the local file server. All our file servers have an install share mapped to I: that replicates from a central location every
day which is where the install files are located.
Problem is I seem to have to specify the server name for the configuration XML file to work. I have tried using the %LOGONSERVER% environment variable but this hasn't worked. I could create an xml file for each sit but I'd rather avoid it as sometimes we
move computers around and I don't want them trying to update from another site and flooding the WAN link.
The second is that as we have slow links and large inboxes I need to find a way to move the email from the users 2010 inbox into their 2013 inbox. When I update to 2013 it downloads them all again. I can export from 2010 then import into 2013 but this just
adds it as an additional inbox.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. That's ok we have already got a File server which seems to run DFS Replication in those slow bandwidth network connections sites.
But have you already move the Office installation source onto the file server which located in site 2? Why you need to configuration XML file currently? To avoid network flooding during the upgrading, please configure the DFS sync time in the off-working
times.
2. In general, Outlook would pick up the existing OST file and reload it after upgrading. Please detail what's your upgrading steps and we could further help you.

• Add Dictionary in Office 2013 Deployment

Is there a way to include a Dictionary as part of the unattended install without logging into the App Store post install?

I have made the required changes on the SQL Server - MSTDC, Named Pipes Enabled.
BizTalk Server 1 and BizTalk Server 2 both have required MSDTC settings. Along with this Firewall settings are also modified.
I have followed this link - http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/1888.install-and-configure-bam-business-activity-monitoring-in-a-multi-computer-environment.aspx
which is for BizTalk Server 2010 (provided for BizTalk Server 2013 ?).
Kindly, let me knoe if anyone had similar issue and it has been resolved , or any other pointers
With Regards,
Gopal Talreja

I faced similar problem while installing BAMAlerts on 2nd BizTalk 2013 R2 server in a group. The reason for this error is the Wizard is unable to create the windows service (BAMAlerts) during the configuration. To fix the issue you need to create the service
manually. I had to perform following actions:
1.CREATE SERVICE:
Start command prompt as administrator on the node with problems. Execute (do not use copy paste from email, it often gives error):
sc create BAMAlerts binPath= "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft BizTalk Server 2013\Tracking\BAMAlerts.exe”
2. SET USERNAME and PASSWORD on this Service:
Open services admin console, and change the user and password for the BAMAlerts Service.
- Start the service.
Start again the configuration for the BAM on the node with problems and complete the BAMTools and BAMAlerts configration (do not enter any username and password in the BAMAlerts configuration wizard).
3. RUN SQL Statement:
After starting the Service, BAMAlerts service may stop with following error in the event log:
Microsoft.BizTalk.Bam.Management.BamManagerException: Encountered error while executing command on SQL Server "A-CLS01VISQL1". --->
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object 'bam_Metadata_GetProperty', database 'BAMPrimaryImport', schema 'dbo'.
To solve this, run following SQL statement
USE BAMPrimaryImport
GRANT
EXECUTE
ON
bam_Metadata_GetProperty
TO
BAM_ManagementNSReader;
GO
This should solve the problem.
Thanks to Microsoft support engineer for help.
Strange bug and I hope MS will solve this issue in next patch/CU/update
