Office 2013 Pro - Error Message - I cannot set Office 2013 as the default mail client

I have a number of PCs on a single domain in the same office all running Windows 7 Pro.  Some at 64 bit and some are 32 bit depending on their age.
My issue is that on upgrading from Officer 2010 Pro to Office 2013 Pro, the only application I have a problem with is Outlook 2013, and only on the 64 bit machines.   The upgrade on 32 bit machine goes perfectly.   On both I install the
32 bit version of Office 2013 as per the MS notes.
When the 64 bit machines reboot and the user logs on I get the message, sometimes twice:
Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfil the message request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client.
OK, so this should be straight forward:
I set outlook at the default mail client and associate all file with it from Outlook\File\Option.  Nope.  That does not work.
I go through default programs and set the default mail client as Office 2013 and associate all file with it from Outlook.   Nope.  That does not work.
I check the registry and it shows that the 64 bit or 32 bit reversion is the default mail client.  So that does not help.
I install the 64 bit version instead of the 32 bit version. Nope.  That does not work.
I clean the registry and temp file.  Nope.  That does not work.
I set a new mail profile for the user. Nope.  That does not work.
Odd that it only upgrades smoothly on the 32 bit machines.
Has anyone got any ideas?   All the suggested fixes on this forum do not fix this issue.

Hello.
Same problem, nothing Works!!!
Help please, really frustrated and angry.
Added written above   I tried:
Uninstalled with the Microsoft fix uninstall
and reinstall. This does not work.
Contact the phone technical support. This
does not work.
Addin,s does not work. Adobe, iCloud Addin ....  does not work.
'Send email to'   menu   does not work.
No application communicates with
Outlook, no Microsoft  or third  apps.
I can only send and receive emails
from within Outlook.
This program is lousy, any
possibility that my money back.
Thanks

  • Set Microsoft Outlook as the default mail client.

Every time I am trying to sync my calendar, notes and mail account with my iPhone through iTunes I keep getting a notifactions saying 'Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client'.
The problem is that Outlook IS the default client.
Why can iTunes not complete this task for me...
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2010 Build 14.0.4536.1000 64-bit.
    Thanks.

I'm getting this and it's really annonying. The Nokia PC Suite provided a basic but functional PC calendar. Surely there's a simple PC client for the iPhone Calendar somewhere. I use Outlook Express and started using Outlook 2002 to manage my calendar but since a recent iTunes upgrade it's stopped working, giving this "default mail client" error. When I set Outlook to be the default mail client it made no difference.
Apple - you've scored an own goal here. Something that did work now doesn't work, and the only thing that's changed is your software.
I don't doubt it's down to compatability with M$ Outlook Add-ins, but they've not changed.

When I try to us Preview to email PDFs the Apple Mail client is the default mail client that opens. I use Lion and would like to set Outlook as my default. Does anyone know how to do this? It has been suggested that you click command-P, select PDF and add Outlook there but there are no options to do this. I am stuck and would like some help. I am using outlook:mac2011 version 14.1.4 and Preview 5.5.1
    Cheers

I did not find a way to change the target application for the "New Email with Attchment" service for files and folders. However, you can follow this instruction here to create ANOTHER service, that will use Outlook: http://www.officeformachelp.com/2010/11/create-a-service-to-attach-files-to-a-ne w-outlook-for-mac-mail-message/
    Hope this helps. Sebastian.

  • Error message "iTunes cannot add any songs to the iPhone because no more free space is available"

I have an iPhone 4, and have over 2 gigs of storage space left, yet iTunes gives me this error message anytime I try to add even 1 song from my computer to my phone. I can still download apps from the app store, and can still download content from the iTunes app on my phone.  I have tried opening up more space by deleting content. Still nothing works. What do I need to do to fix it?

Try de-selecting Sync Music followed by a sync. This will remove all music from your iPhone.
Follow this be re-selecting Sync Music along with your selections below followed by another sync to re-transfer the music and hopefully along with the new music you want transferred.

    Hi,
Do you mean Send as Attachment button under File>Save & Send>Sending Using E-mail
in Office applications, like Excel or Word?
Is this an issue that come up recently? Have you ever made any changes to your system?
If you have installed multiple e-mail programs on the same computer, please try to make Outlook the default mail client and then try again:

  • Outlook 2013 set as default mail client but still shows error box saying it isn't?

We have recently installed Office 2013 64-bit on 4 servers. We previously used Outlook 2007 64-bit.

How can I solve this issue? I am an administrator.

Try different Method to set Outlook 2013 as the default mail client to check the result. Thanks.

  • Win 8.1 2010 Outlook Error message: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill..."

When trying to open Outlook in Win 8.1 I get the error message:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
It eventually opens but none of my Mail accounts load. When I click on one of the accounts I get

Outlook is set with all its defaults. I've tried going through the Repair routine for Microsoft Office but it doesn't help.

    Hi,
To delete a profile, you may try the steps below:
Important This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps
carefully. For added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.
    1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command.
    2. Type regedit in the Open field and click OK.
    3. Locate the key then right click on it and choose Rename:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem
    4. Type OLD at the end of the name.
    5. Try opening Outlook and it may prompt that you need to create a new profile.
    I hope this can help.

  • Either there is no default mail client of the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request-----error Outlook 2010

I've tried EVERYTHING suggested in this link (http://blog.timolthof.com/outlook-no-default-mail-client-error/) and everything google and bing and still this message keeps popping up.  Now when I do a windows search for email, I'm not able to view
the email due to this message.
For the record, I am running W7 Ultimate x64 and connected via Excange Server.  I do have another system that is running Office 2010 with none of these problems so I don't know if it's related to Exchange though the searches I've done don't allude
    to that.
    What's up?

    Hi,
I understand that when you tried to open Outlook 2010 beta on the Windows 7 64-bit computer, you encountered the following error:
"Either there is not default mail client of the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and
set it as the default mail client."
You have checked the settings under the registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Clients\Mail\Microsoft Outlook
I understand the inconvenience you have encountered and appreciate the time and effort you spent on this issue. Please be assured that I
will try my best to help you.
Now let’s troubleshoot the issue by the suggestions below. Please check the results after each suggestion until the problem is resolved.
Suggestion 1: manually set Outlook 2010 as the default e-mail client on Windows 7:
    ===================
    1.
    Click Start.
    2.
    Type "default programs" in the
    Search box.
    3.
    Click Default Programs under
    Programs in the search results.
    4.
Now click Set your default programs.
    5.
Highlight Microsoft Outlook on the left.
    6.
Click Set this program as default.
    7.
    Click OK.
Suggestion 2: Start the Outlook program in safe mode
    ==============
    1.
Click Start, point to All Programs, and then point to
    Microsoft Office.
    2.
Press and hold the CTRL key, and then click the Outlook program you want to start.
If the problem does not occur in the safe mode, this issue might be related to some third-party add-ins in the Outlook program, we can try
to disable them. Normally, you could do the following to disable the conflict add-ins in your Outlook program:
    Disable add-ins
    Click
    File menu, click Options >
Add-in, click Go button in the Manage:
    Com-in Add.
Check if there are any add-ins,
clear the checkbox to disable them.
    Close the Office program and
    restart it.
Add one check back each time to the list of Add-In,
restart the Office program, and repeat the above procedure. Once the issue reappears again, we can determine which add-in causes this problem and then disable it.
Suggestion 3: Test the issue with a new Windows user account
    ==============
We can follow the steps in the articles to create a new user account to test the issue. If the problem does not occur in the new user account, some settings
in the old account are corrupted. We can copy the main user files from the old account to the new account, delete the old account, and then continue using the new account.
For the detailed steps on how to create a new user account and copy data from the old account to the new account, you can refer to the following articles:
    For Windows Vista/Windows 7:
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Create-a-user-account
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Fix-a-corrupted-user-profile
Please take your time to try the suggestions and let me know the results at your earliest convenience. . If anything is unclear or if there
is anything I can do for you, please feel free to let me know.

  • Outlook 2013 (Office 365 Install) unable to set Default Mail Client

After installing Office 2013 via Office 365 for Business, the installation is unable to set Outlook as the default mail client.  Message appears after each system reboot:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request.  Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
When going into Control Panel and manually set the Outlook client as the default, the setting does not take.  After a reboot, the warning message reappears.

No but then again it is a Beta. Did you clean install or update?  9926 seems to be relatively stable.

  • Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run ...

Lync 2013 generates repeated messages stating “Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client.”. Events that
seem to generate messages is disconnecting and re-connecting to a network but it also happens randomly and the messages will stack up during a working day. Everything seem to work OK but it is an annoyance.  The computer is upgraded (uninstalled first)
from Office 2013 ProPlus to Office 365 ProPlus. Outlook (Desktop) is default mail client. 64-bit Windows 8.1 Enterprise, 64-bit Office (both before upgrade and after).
(Links removed to remediations I've tried)
Made no difference what so ever and the messages continue. What's next?
I posted the above to the Office 2013 forum (unfortunately I'm not allowed yet to post a link to that posting) but due to the fact that the computer affected by this is a networked domain computer I've been redirected to this group instead.  I
was asked some additional questions ing the other forum regarding the problem:
Are you able to send mails from other applications like Word or Excel?
    NO
Is the PC connected to any Domain/Server? YES
Is this an issue with one PC only. NO - affects all computers that once had Office 2013 Pro Plus installed and now has Office 365 Pro Plus (Originally I posted this question in the Office 365 community but was directed to first the Office
2013 forum and now this forum)
Right click on any file and Click on Send to-> Mail Recipient and check if you are able to send mails using Outlook.
    NO
Also check if the Lync add-in is enabled in Outlook.
    Start Outlook
    Click the File tab.
    Go to Options.
    Click Add-ins.
Check if the Lync add-in is enabled. YES
My last posting in the other forum contained the following additional information regarding our problem:
As far as we can see installing 32-bit Office 365 Pro Plus using click to run makes no difference.
We do not send any mails from Lync, Lync is however the process that generates the message most frequently (as Lync seem to react upon network events).
Other processes that have Outlook plugins may also be the parent of the message popup (third party applications).
Yes the Lync add-in is enabled. Lync functionality in/from Outlook seem unaffected.
It is not possible to send emails from other applications (explorer, word, excel etc.) ie. right clicking and send to generates the messages and
a follow up error message concerning lack of MAPI enabled e-mail.

  • "no default mail client": windows 7, adobe reader 11, office 2013

re: Error: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request.  Please run MS Outlook and set it as the default mail client etc."
Does anyone know how to permanently stop this error, when simply tring to launch a PDF to view it????
    Windows 7, Office 2013, Acrobat Pro 11.0.3
A test was done to uninstall reader 11, and reinstall 9.5, which at least allowed the PDF to be viewed on one computer, but did not fix other apps needing to interoperate with PDF and email (i.e. attach and email).
Is this a windows 7 registry problem, or a DLL problem?

    Hi Randal,
Firstly even though Outlook is set as default mail client you need to reapply the same from 'Start> Default Programs> Set Default Programs'
Now check if you still face the issue.
If Yes then you MUST add an email account in Reader to eliminate this message
In your Reader Preferences under Email Accounts, click Add Account>Other
In the Add Webmail Account window, input your email account details
Under Advanced Settings, configure your incoming and outgoing ports and security settings per your email account
Click OK, and then click Add. In the window, click the email account you just added and click "Make Default"
When it's set as the default mail account you'll see a check mark, and you WON'T see the error message anymore.
In case you still face issues please try the following registry change:
The registry edit is here for Office  2013 64 bit click to run installations that will enable Outlook 2013 to  be recognized by third party applications:
    1. Create registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Outlook
    2. Create String value:
    Bitness
    3. Set the String value for Bitness to:
    x64
Note: Please backup the registry before trying to modify it.
There's also a MS hotfix which you might want to run: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request" error message w…
Let me know if this helped.

  • Office 365 Outlook and Adobe 11.0.3 Error: "Either there is no default mail client or the current.."

If you are getting this message, Error: "Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request.  Please run MS Outlook and set it as the default mail client etc."
There is a temporary work around and that is to click the "Tools" button and that will hide that pane.
I contacted Adobe since I have a subscription and created a ticket. I spoke again with the helpdesk represenative and he raised the issue with the engineering team during a meeting that they had today. This compatibility issue will be examined and proposed for a fix in an upcoming release / update of Adobe Reader.

Manually setting a new email account per Outlook settings will resolve the error message as well.

  • Office 2013 click-to-run does not honor deselecting 'Make Outlook the default program' checkbox

We use an email client other than Microsoft Outlook (let's say Thunderbird)
Thunderbird is set as the default mail client for the machine (HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\(default) set appropriately)
Occasionally, we launch Outlook (but absolutely do not want it as the default mail client for the machine).  About 30 seconds after launching Outlook, we see that the Windows default mail client changes to Microsoft Outlook. The 'Make Outlook the default
program for E-mail, Contacts, and Calendar' checkbox in File->Options is disabled.
Further investigation with ProcMon indicates that a SYSTEM service called integrator.exe starts up about 30 seconds after we launch Outlook.  This service changes the HKLM\Software\Clients\Mail\(default) registry key to be Microsoft Outlook.
We have tested with multiple non-Outlook email clients, and the behavior is always the same.
This only happens on click-to-run installs of Office 2013.  Regular installs of Office 2013 do not have the problem.  Older versions of Outlook do not have the problem.
What can we do to get Outlook to honor the 'Make Outlook the default program' setting?

    Kapaal -
Thanks for your reply.  Your blog post would certainly work if this was just a user-mode app that was making the change, but that's not the case with Office 2013.
The integrator.exe process that is making the change is part of Microsoft's Click-to-Run system.  It runs as a service with local system access, and thus would have full access to the key.  I might be able to lock it down by creating a second system
admin account and playing games with it - but that will make it very difficult to actually change the value when I want it do be changed, and I really shouldn't have to be doing workarounds to prevent Office itself from doing this.

  • Send file as email not working when Outlook 2013 is default mail client

Have Adobe Reader XI 11.0.2 installed.  Running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit with Office 2013 installed.  When I set Default E-mail Application to Microsoft Outlook from Preferences I receive the following error trying to send any file as an e-mail:
"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request.  Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
I have toggled Microsoft Outlook 2013 off and back on as the default e-mail handler in the Default Programs of the Control Panel, but this has not resolved the issue.
I am guessing this may be a new bug since Outlook 2013 only recently came out, but if not, and someone has a fix, please let me know.
    Thank you,
    - Brian

Please try the steps mentioned at: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813745 and check whether the issue is resolved or not.
If not, then try starting the outlook in safe mode using (Outlook.exe /safe) and check the issue again.
Hopefully, these will resolve your issue.
